ready for Friday random 10?
I don’t think that looks like vodka.
Back in a minute with my FRT.
Are you implying that my photoshop skills suck? Cause they do.
cranberry juice and vodka for those who need their vitamin c. LOL
See Andi, refinish knew what it was.
okay I’ll take back the doesn’t look like vodka and replace it with gag.
LOL
Ah yes, but unless I am mistaken, refinish69 is A Gay™, and we take communion with Seabreezes, so it was not a leap for him. ;p
oh, honey give me a seabreeze a cape cod or hand me the vodka bottle depending on what time of night. LOL or it was that way back in the day!!!!
If communion with seabreezes is involved, maybe I can consider getting religion, then…
well sunday tea dance was a religion for many years. LOL
You crack me up!
well, I am old so I remember things I probably shouldn’t. LOL
Tea dances I can deal with but I’m completely take aback by the idea the people would not only willingly drink cranberry juice and vodka, they’d actually want to.
have you ever tried it? On a hot summer day it is the most refreshing way to get drunk.
I don’t like sweet stuff — with or without liquor. The only mixed drink I like is a vodka gimlet.
But I’m going to try to be more opened minded about the color choices that other people make for their drinks.
it is not that sweet. You can also do a 1/2 and 1/2 mix with grapefruit juice that is sinful!!!
You’re just going to have to give up on me — I hate grapefruit juice.
I’ll just go take my blah vodka gimlet and go hide in the corner with the other wallflowers.
LOL fine then!!! I’ll make sure the vodka is a good one then.
think you are drinking cranberry juice and ask you to dance.
yeah, not only that but you can use 100 proof vodka in that mix, which in my younger years… ah.. worked quite well…ah, you might say…

Flashback to the 80s!
diary,IndyLib. it’s the first time I made the rec list and it’s not my own diary. The law of ironics still in effect, ha! Oh well, good for PR anyway…
I thought that was a very profound essay. I have a great fondness for truth, even hard truth; I like it increasingly more even as it becomes increasingly more rare. 🙂
J. Geils Band – totally forgot about them, but now it’s coming back.
that’s one I hadn’t heard thing about for a couple of decades.
Just home from erranding, hope the Cafe doesn’t close on me…

So, where’s your list? Yours are pretty cool too, if I remember.

I’ll Be Back – The Beatles
The Other Side – Maggie Bell
Silver Screen – Little Feat
The Beauty Of The Rain – Dar Williams
I Looked At You – The Doors

Nothin On Me – Shawn Colvin
I love everything on your list, with the exception of not knowing who Maggie Bell is.
And “Nothin on me”: that whole Shawn Colvin CD was the soundtrack to my divorce a gazillion years ago.
Maggie Bell was a great 70’s blues singer (from Scotland unlikely as that seems).
Have you ever heard Suzanne Vega’s Songs in Red and Gray? The whole album is a response to her divorce.
I like Red and Gray because it reminds me of her first album (an old favorite) sound-wise.
I will buy anything she records but I thought Red and Gray was by far the best thing she’s done. Widow’s Walk is just brilliant.
This is my favorite FRT that you’ve posted so far. Love this mix.
I’d like to take credit but it has to go to either Apple’s programmers or the cosmic muffin.
Your list proves that I spent too much time listening to jazz and classical in the 80’s — I recognize the majority of the names but I don’t know any of the songs (well, I know That’ll be the Day which was the first 45 I ever bought but it was Buddy Holly doing it).
Fwiw, I like the Buddy Holly version better. And I’m not sure it was actually possible to spend too much time listening to jazz and classical in the 80s, given the sorry state of popular radio during most of the Reagan years. We did get some good punk out of that decade, but I know that ain’t your thing. 🙂
You’re right, I pretty much stop at hard rock — no punk, no metal.
But thanks to the music channels on my satellite dish, I’m much better educated now.
Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen
It’s Raining Me- The Weather Girls
You make me feel (mighty real)-Sylvester
I Can’t Stand The Rain- Ann Peebles & by Tina Turner
I’m Pretty Damn it- Bette Midler
Dim all the lights- Donna Summer
Take Me to the River-Annie Lennox
Amazing Grace/What Matters- Randi Driscoll
I Will Survive-Gloria Gaynor
Come Rain Or Shine-Cleo Laine
I like your list (well, probably not Donna Summer). Cleo Laine is a gem.
I have seen Cleo in concert 5 different times. She has a voice that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire concert.
I’m really jealous (and I’m guessing this must have been when you were living somewhere other than Texas).
I saw her in raliegh, NC, once and saw her in california the other 4 times.
I only know a few of yours, but we both got a random B-52’s song (way below).
it’s my age and being a dancing fool. LOL
B-52’s rule!!!! I saw them in Athens, Ga before anyone knew whop they really were.
This sub-thread is getting long – my response was actually to CabinGirl (way up). But you have actually seen them live – cool.
Nice to ‘meet’ you, BTW, I have noticed your handle quite frequently of late.
I found the cafe and fell in love with the crowd here. I have been posting on the site off and on for a while.

Can I borrow your music collection? It’s so kewl.
Aw, thanks! 🙂
I’ve been spending way too much money at iTunes since getting an iPod–I don’t have much of a CD collection (most of it got ripped off during a break-in a number of years ago). So I’ve basically got a shelf full of vinyl and what’s on the iPod.
I have 5 of the songs on your list and I only don’t know 1. This is some kind of record for me since I’m usually lucky to hit 50% on just recognizing the group name.
Great minds listen alike. 🙂
I don’t have any favorite tunes to list, but thought I would post another “lunch photo,” now that I know how to do it. (Thanks guys!)
This one was taken at Point Lobos. I like to try and capture little works-of-art that Mother Earth has left lying around.
P.S. Bottoms Up!!!
Your lunch walks are turning into quite a pleasure for the rest of us. This is a really interesting composition and the seascapes have been striking.
Thank you, AndiF! I love the idea that others are sharing in my personal solace for a far less than ideal job situation!
It does really help to have something so lovely to compensate for the ugliness.
You can say that again!
A little twilight zone muzak in the background please. Last week during a beer buy on Post I decided to perhaps purchase something Vodka:30ish. Sadly the best Vodka they had was Popov and I’m not making “the best” adjective up. Probably a stupid a purchase huh? I had to go it one better though because they had these “cocktail infusions” in really really cool wavy glass bottles. I mean if one is going to be dumb, why not try for coma stupid? So I just mixed a Popov/watermelon martini and after a sip I feel like a need a banjo and one tooth! Good God Lord in a firey hell could anything taste so gross?
ROTFLMAO!!!!! First rule… if the vodka comes in a plastic bottle throw it away!!!!
How about those kewwwwl wavy glass bottles full of beautifully pastel tinged chemical waste products?
I am a purist when I am getting drunk. I want top shelf only, nothing that smokes, screams, or looks like it died before I got it in my glass. LOL
Dude, you are gonna love the Dirty Marmotini. Andi?
Of course, we have to introduce refinish to the specialty of the house.
I need something to cure the thing I just drank!
that looks disgusting!!! LOL
The marmot whose name is Marmotdude is sort of a mascot for the cafe. He’s known to pop up in all sorts of places.
okay
YAY! 4s just don’t seem like enough for the Dirty Marmotini, thus I give this cocktail an
Wow, with that kind of score, I should be heading for the olympics.
drunk? Who told you I had one of the days of my life from hell? Being married to a soldier right now I don’t whether to buy life insurance or cheap vodka! It all tastes the same!
Spring for the expensive vodka…big bottle. Trust me, it’ll work: either things will improve or you won’t care.
You do live in the land of redneck margaritas, you know…
So, did you need a shot of insulin to counteract all the sugar?
just to mercy kill the taste buds that managed to survive the chemical attack
LOL OMG the night when jose and I lost our minds.
if you haven’t figured out yet, I was a little bit wild in the 70’s and 80’s. LOL
There is still so much life left to live! That is if Cheney doesn’t take ya out first.
I don’t hunt and I’m not a lawyer. LOL I have calmed down a lot cause the spirit is willing but the body is too old. LOL
still here……..Oh God, isn’t that how they got here in the first place?
LOL that is one problem I never had.
fix my friend.

The search continues…………..
Still in the office, a little lurking – please have a double (of whatever) ready in about an hour – definitely need it.
Meanwhile:
Roam – B-52’s
Dum Dum Girl – Talk Talk
Truth Hides – Asian Dub Foundation
Only This Moment – Röyksopp *
Wind It Up – The Prodigy
Make It Mine (V2.5) – The Shamen
Close Encounters – The Orb
Lemon Song – Led Zeppelin
Just One Kiss – The Cure
Thank You – Voice Farm
* I may have mentioned before that Röyksopp is a young Norwegian band. Fun little story (at least for me); my daughter (10th grade) was at a party last weekend with classmates. One of the ‘hot’ guys came to her – “Listen to this new song, these guys are great!” And what does he play – the song listed above. My daughter responds: “Yeah, I got that one last June (when it was released), and my dad took me to their concert in NYC’s Webster Hall last September.”
Maybe a downer for him, but it is great music for any generation.
Hey that’s awesome, you now have official confirmation of being a Totally Cool Dad. ::applauds:: Someone buy the man a Seabreeze, lol!
I’ll have one out in a jiffy!!!
Hehe, (also in response to CG below)
I think she may be a little embarrased sometimes, too much. There are also 6 remixes of that song (on one CD) that she borrowed from me to put on her iPod. Much more ‘clubby’ than the single/radio mix.
My daughter is strange, she considers it her music and will not share with others – it would reduce the ‘exclusivity’ of it – they are not particularly well known here.
Well, obviously, no more work can be done now. Heading home – see you guys in about an hour. With the speed that this thread moves, it may be at new premises…
Have a seabreeze…isn’t it nice to be a “cool” parent?
Done with work, clients and that damn froggybottom. For now.
I’ll have whatever Cabin Girl is mixing tonight.
was mixing tonight!
I guess you could hop in the car and be here by Sunday?
I am thinking it’s a key lime martini night…
3 parts vanilla vodka
1 part fresh lime juice
1 part simple syrup
splash of pineapple juice
Thanks!
Very cheery on a cold night!
and meet me at the new lounge!
Just put it in that bucket marked “biohazard waste”
