Another worm is turning.
BUSHCO started the ‘racial profiling’ right after 9/11. They are now accusing the Americans who are against the selling of the ports to Dubai of the same. We know we are concerned about America’s security because of the Constant Whistle/Wolf Blowing of Terror Alerts by the Bush fascists administration.
Our biggest threat and enemy sits in the White House.
There is a price for racial profiling. There is a price for lies and an unmerited war. This is just the beginning.
The settlement, filed in federal court late yesterday, is the first the government has made in a number of lawsuits charging that noncitizens were abused and their constitutional rights violated in detentions after the terror attacks.
It removes one of two plaintiffs from a case in which a federal judge ruled last fall that former Attorney General John Ashcroft, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other top government officials must answer questions under oath. Government lawyers filed an appeal of that ruling on Friday.
In the settlement agreement, which requires approval by a federal judge in Brooklyn, lawyers for the government said that the officials were not admitting any liability or fault. In court papers they have said that the 9/11 attacks created “special factors,” including the need to deter future terrorism, that outweighed the plaintiffs’ right to sue.
“A settlement like this is not a precedent, but it’s a form of accountability,” said Gerald L. Neuman, a law professor at Columbia University who is an expert in human rights law and was not involved in the case. “When the government finds it necessary to settle, that changes the government’s incentives. It doesn’t mean the government will settle future cases that it makes different calculations about,” like another lawsuit, brought as a class action on behalf of hundreds of detainees, that is pending before the same judge.

And there will be a price for usurping America’s people and property down the road. Impeachment would suffice for me.
Oh, Rosee, I think that you are right and that brings something precious… hope.
Just as I hope that the ever louder calls for the closing of Guantanamo just may be the beginning of closing down the system of gulags and pits of human misery/torture the US is hiding here and there all over the world.
Just as I hope that the calls for investigation into the illegal domestic spying will eventually end the massive spying programs currently being inflicted on us by the DOD, NSA, and the continuation of the Total Information Awareness program that has been renamed and hidden and continues to this day. (I’m thinking about diarying this)
Just as I hope that the shouts against the ports deal will lead Americans to the awareness that a man like Bush who has no compassion for individual people has little compulsion to actually protect the masses of those same American people… a party like the Republican party who gleefully takes from the poor and middle classes and gives it all to the corporate and the rich has little compulsion to safeguard those same people. Other than rhetoric and political cover, Bush and the Republicans absolutely SUCK at national security.
Sorry, I went off there, but I hear you, Rosee. We are faced with so many crises, I think that it is easy to sometimes miss the fact that there are many such examples of the tide beginning to turn.
Well said!
I’m glad I found a relevant diary for this comment, it wasn’t diary-worthy on its own… and I hope it isn’t old news.
But I wonder what the PNAC cabal thinks of this?

To Learn the Hard Way About Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Ten years ago I had to learn the hard way what Dubai and Abu Dhabi was about, when a close relative was taken hostage by an Emirate national and imprisoned due to a difference in a financial deal. We had a period of thirty days to investigate, travel to the Emirates, go to court, solve his/her business transaction gone wrong and return to freedom. We managed to beat the system, cost a lot of money, but managed to get his/her passport returned and leave by first flight to Qatar. Ever since I have closely watched what was happening in the Emirates because of its location in the ME and the build-up of wealth, richness and unbelievable building boom.
The system is corrupt in the UAE, they deal in contraband drugs, money and arms. There are no legal rights, nor human rights as I have illustrated in my comments. CNN International had a documentary about the Emirates recently, about the slavery of migrant workers. This fact alone, the abuse of Human Rights, should be sufficient to sever all economic ties with the Sheikdom.

Al Qaeda Buys Control Six US Port Facilities ¶ Chertoff Hands Over the Keys
Mon Feb 20th, 2006 at 02:40:37 PM PST
Unbelievable, this has been an option for some weeks now, this is the first criticism I read in the U.S. Media.
As I have repeatedly made clear, the next attack on the U.S. is being planned and success depends on American foreign policy to quell anti-American hatred across the globe. Now the U.S. is permitting Arab control of US port facilities. I know Dubai fairly well and have enough personal adventures to fill a book.
To be clear, the 911 attacks were perpetrated by Al Qaeda and facilitated by nationals from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UAE made possible the illegal sale of Saddam’s oil during the nineties and made hundreds of millions in profits.
