LOL Not feeling like one this week. The only thing that had gone right was the precinct convention. I am hoping the wierdness of the week ended yesterday. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Up early to take my antibiotics (like a good spud), then shower, get spouse to bandage me, then back to bed for a few hours…will see you folks at FM’s place…
Spouse and I had Chinese from this little place over on El Camino — I think the name is Wok’s On or something like that; it’s several steps above Mr. Chau’s Chinese Fast Food, but not big bucks like P.F. Chang’s or some of our local high-end places like Ming’s or Chef Chu’s. Anyway, we had our fortune cookies, and the fortune in mine was: “The fortune you seek is in another cookie.” Maybe I should add that to my potential new sig list…
It’s CabinBoy the Younger’s 11th birthday today!!!
Last night I was telling him about the night he was born, how the weather was so bad that my mom’s phone was out and my ex had to go over to her house to get her so she could be there when he was born, and how the midwife ate all my chocolate chips, and how his older brother immediately wanted to take him to the zoo that morning (“take baby to zoo, take baby to zoo”)…he loves that.
We have the funniest (okay, maybe weirdest) birthday cake made for today…I’ll post a picture shortly.
Well, now that CBtE is 13 and a half, he’d like to take CBtY to the zoo and leave him there some days. Middle school is just such a happy time in any kid’s life, isn’t it?
I’ve always claimed that he likes 6th graders because they are the perfect age for his sense of humor — any younger and they don’t get the jokes, any older and they think the jokes are dumb.
As a parent, the most important thing to me is that my child’s 6th grade teacher loves to teach 6th graders. All of my sons seemed to hit an invisible wall in 6th grade. Where they had previously loved school and been eager to please me and their teachers by doing well and trying their best, suddenly they became apathetic and lazy about school work. I will never be sure if it was simply that weird age or whether a great teacher would have been able to keep them motivated.
I’d blame it on bigger class sizes more than anything else. Teachers can’t give kids the attention they need when they have 30-40 students and if there are one or two real problem kids in the classroom, the teacher’s time and attention go into a black hole and the other kids in the class pay the price.
My kids went to a “blue ribbon” school in a wealthy community and the class size was 20-25. But they had a couple of teachers who clearly (at least to me) did not like kids. It would have been great to have someone like Jim.
Enjoy it courtesy the FBC. George will be along to get the dishes a bit later.

We will make sure we save some bacon for George.
Good Morning from the Rhinestone in the middle of the buckle of the Bible Belt. LOL
Hah, you’d be the big, shiny, lucky gold nugget.
Good morning Andi!!!

Everybody in F household will cross their fingers or toes for you, too.
Thank you. I am hoping the old saying about trouble comes in 3’s will hold true and the bad news is over. LOL

Best Birthday Ever wishes to CBtY!
And great birth day story — especially the going to the zoo — does he still want to take him to the zoo?

Happy Birthday to CBtY and happy labor day to you! I think moms should get a gift too. After all, you did all the work!
Thanks, SN!
That’s what I’ve always thought but Jim loves teaching 6th graders over every other grade-level he’s taught (3rd, 4th, 5th).
They’re funny, but it’s such a painful part of growing up. I remember how mean people were to each other then.

He definitely loves kids and he would probably kill (preferably some administrator) for a class size of 20-25.
Froggy Bottom Morning Care is open and ready for business. How’s everyone.
