Everythings ready. Have a cup of coffee or tea.
And it looks so pretty there! Sigh.
Thanks CG. That from the front porch at the farm. It will be much nicer when summer get here.
It’s a beautiful picture of a beautiful place. No wonder you decided to come home to retire.
Yes I pat myself on the back from time to time. š
And the view below as well.
So … we’re having coffee on the veranda today? Nice.
Morning Mary. How’s the birthday girl?
She’s good. The actual birth day is over but more celebrating is in the works.
My birthday always seems to drag out for a long time as people use it as excuses for other excesses. So for instance today I’m “getting” an afternoon celebration that really is just an excuse to go downstairs to the sports bar on the first floor and watch basketball in the middle of the afternoon.
Lucky you. If I could I would try to get them to spread it out for the entire year.
With a mint julep chaser.
Have you ever had one of those? pwetthwwww. I tried one years ago and never did again. I’d much rather have one of Janet’s drinks.
Never had one, it just seemed appropriate.
I thought it was very appropriate and was digging out one of my hats for the occasion.
I had one when I was 18 or 19, so many years ago. That one convinced me I didn’t want another.
It was very appropriate for the setting. Although I’d be running back inside for one of Janet’s jello shooters. š
It doesn’t look like this now, but come summer, this is the backyard at the house, not the farm.
That’s beautiful, Family Man.
Thanks SN. How are you today?
I’ve procrastinated getting a report done so I have to do the whole thing today. And I have to go to the bank and pay the mortgage and get my car inspected, 3 months late. You think I would learn not to put everything off til the last minute.
Yes but then you take the excitement out of it if you get everthing done on time.
Will SN get her report done?
Will she get her car inspected and not be arrested for it being late.
Will she get her mortgage paid before the banker is at the door?
I feel like I’m watching a TV show. š
Thanks for reminding me, my car inspection and registration are due the end of this month…and the month is already half over. Yikes.
I usually realize mine has expired about 3 weeks after the deadline.
That looks great, FM.
My view when heading for work (if I detour one block off my path to the PATH). View across the Hudson River.
I can see why you detour. That’s spectacular.
It’s so wonderful to see what you see as you go about — it is a lovely view. Thanks for sharing this w/ us!
Good morning again. I got distracted for a while and here you are in new premises.
Good Morning Ask. Finally over all the jet lag?
Yes, thanks. Back to normal sleep routine now (I think), now it’s the little matter of catching up with the work that has accumulated.
Glad you found us.
Are the asklets going to have a spring vacation soon?
They have a 2-week break coming up. Not sure what to do to keep them busy, as neither their mother nor I can take leave at the time.
The oldest is pretty much self-driven, she turned 16 last month and has plenty of projects to work on. The youngest may be off to hockey-camp (day camp).
When my neice went to camp the first time, she had a great time, but my brother was wanting to go and get her. Any little thing she said, he took it as she was not having a good time and wanted to come home. When in reality it was the opposite.

That’s beautiful too. That’s the exact color of the dirt/clay/soil around here….burnt orange. I know this for sure because the previous owners installed white carpeting in the family room which is right off the deck.
Our soil here is clay but it’s a more of a burnt sienna (my favorite name for an oil paint).
That’s beautiful Andi. Of course when you and Jim get back you’re going to have a zazillion pictures for us to see, aren’t you?
Even before the digital camera, Jim took a huge number of shots (I think the record was 18 rolls of 24 shots) and with the digital that number has just gotten bigger.
I never was a picture taker until digital. I always hated to wait to get them developed and then find out only two or three came out good.
… to see what you guys come back with!
The vacation countdown is on. ::sniff::
Well, Sniff will be sniffing because he will be missing the love of his life (his couch) for a week.
Beautiful photo. Arizona?
Southern Utah but still part of the Colorado Plateau so very similar to what you would find in northern Arizona.
Morning, y’all! Looks like I’m home today with the (literally) feverish boran2 boy. 101.5 degrees, if that newfangled electronic thermometer is to be believed. I hope that all are well today.
Morning boran2. I hope boran2 boy gets to feeling better.
Good morning, FM. Thanks, he should be okay with some rest. There’s some kind of bug going around in his school that many kids are getting. Oh, lucky you to retired to such a beautiful place.
I glad to hear he’ll be fine. When my daughters were samll, I could always count on something being brought home from school.
Here he is, not too long ago.
He’s as cute as can be boran. He’s going to have a lot of girls knocking on your door later on.
And, I’m very sure, one of those days when you weren’t the least bit jealous of me.
I hope he feels better soon.
Thanks!
Boran2 Boy is going to be a heartbreaker!
Sorry he’s sick Boran2.
Thanks. You’re up early after what surely must have been a night of debauchery. š
(sigh) as we get older we have to plan our debauchery for weekends.
Debauchery was last Friday (and this Friday)
He’s a cutie, boran2. I hope he feels better quick!
Thanks, CG!
(btw, I just sent you an email re: East Coast meetup)
Didn’t get it yet. I have become quite the procrastinator.
That yahoo mail of mine is quite sloooowwww…I guess it takes time for the NSA to read my mail before you do.
And if you are married to a teacher, he brings home the germs and graciously passes them on, leaving himself unscathed.
My father was a teacher and assistant pricipal for many years and thankfully brought home very few, if any, “bugs”.
Feeling sick is not fun, but staying home is okay. š I hope he feels better soon boran!
Thanks! To him it’s just more time with his gameboy.
I’m going to have a better day today, I’ve already decided.
To start it off cheery note, sweat peas for everyone!
Sweet peas, taken 8.12.2005 (view large)
I’ve been waiting for your picture Olivia. Now the cafe looks wonderful.
You are going to have a better day, because we won’t let you have anything else. {{{{{{Olivia}}}}}}
…my stinky flowers! (I always spell it wrong! Sweet pea… not sweat-y peas!) š
Whatever you call it, it’s always beautiful.
Well, they do look a little sweaty! š
they do! maybe that’s why I typed it… š
Oh, I dunno, I rather like the revised smelling…er, spelling… š And the photo’s pretty too!
Good morning, everyone — now I’m going to run off to the office. Check in with y’all laters…
Wishing you a “sweet” day! :~)
One more gorgeous photo for olivia, one more moment of beauty for us.
Olivia, in a perfectly just world, nothing bad would get within 1000 miles of you.
Will you and Jim be around tonight? I have a quick camera question to ask Jim — or should I email you?
We’ll be here but email is fine — whichever you want.
Almost every time I click on your ‘view large’ link and this beautiful flower explodes on my screen, my eyes fill up with tears. That’s weird, isn’t it?
No you’re just a softie. But, with Olivia’s pictures it’s hard not to catch your breath when they appear on screen.
Any special memories that may have included the flower?
This is something that one of the posters on the flickr site — AnnaK — said about the photo (link):
Two weeks before my mom went into the hospital we were at a Farmers Market in Newport and she saw a stand of SweetPea flowers. She stood there for 10 minutes just looking at them and touching their leaves.
“These are my favorite ” she said. And here for 20 years we’d been giving her roses.
She died within that month.
Thank you for the memory with your beautiful picture.
I think it’s just sheer beauty that does it to me. What used to get me every time was going to see my kids sing with their class when they were really little, and all those tiny, innocent faces singing…
And a couple of classical music pieces do it as well, including an oboe solo in a Mozart piece where it’s just so high and sweet that I instantly tear up.
…what an amazingly beautiful compliment you have just given me.
What’s weird is as I was looing at that last photo I was thinking, “Why do I feel so emotional every time I look at one of olivia’s flowers?
I hope it’s not bad emotional though. š
Olivia how could someone look at your flowers and it not be good emotional?
It has made me actually wish to purchase pink sheets. I did not, of course, but I almost bought pink soap and kleenex, but Madame was fortunately able to intervene in time.
…a set of pink sheets. š
Frolic in pink sheets
Now people will understand why I have accused you of supernatural powers. You can make people wish to be a bee!
school, be thinking about you all today. Take care
Have a good one Tracy. You take care and be careful.
Have a safe trip.
Take care of you too. š
I have to run into town. I’ll be back in a little while.
Good Morning!!!!! I have already been running errands this am and back home again. I took today off to get some things done. I still have other errands later today but have to wait for appointment times and places to open. LOL
Good Morning Refinish. I just got back from running an errand too. Big day planned?
Howdy FamilyMan!!! Keep your fingers crossed for me. I should be finally closing out a medical claim from a car wreck last summer and picking up a check today. I will then be paying all my bills down to zero!!! for this month at least. LOL I will also start looking for a place to move to in austin and a few other things. I have a doctoir’s appointment and will also be working on designs and cleaning house.
You do have a busy day! I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.
Thanks!!! Wanted to let you I did hand out a couple of cards last night. LOL Turns out they liked the shirt I was wearing.
See I told you. We already know how talented you are. It just letting everybody else know.
Thank you!!!! I am trying and I guess wearing the designs and also giving some away as door prizes at meetings is starting to pay off. LOL
I can see you have a head for business. Pretty soon we’ll all be saying, We knew him when….
Not really. LOL I am learning as I go but have some great people coaching me.
I remember you saying you haven’t been doing this long and I think you’re doing pretty good for just starting out.
I opened my first site mid Sepetember 2005. I have learned a lot in a short time and am still learning more every day.
You are your own best advertising.
Well, I keep trying everything I can think of. LOL I even have signs I printed with some of the designs and the link hanging in the back window of my car. lol
I’m pulling it over to the left. Like I said, just to be starting out I think you’re doing good.
Moving to Austin huh. I used to go there from time to time when I lived in San Antonio. The last time I went I saw Bonnie Raitt perform in a park there.
I love Bonnie Raitt!!! Yeah, I am moving over to Austin. Redneck… oops Round Rock is the wrong place for a single gay male to live. LOL
I wish I had gone to Austin more, but it was only those few times. I have heard they have a really good night life area (or redlight, which ever it’s called now). A lot of good bars and bands.
The music scene is supposed to be one of the best in the country. It will also be easier for me to do my civil rights and political work there also as it is the capital. And my commute home from work should take less than 2 hours. LOL
I had heard that about the music scene. 2 hour commute? Is that round trip or one way?
The music scene there IS enviable.
Now both of ya’ll are making me wish I had gone more. (:
