Don’t forget to ask FM if it was a squirrel that got into his trasformer… I didn’t get a chance to bring that up before he retired for the evening, ha!
usually around here it’s wind whipping the branches around, or toppling a tree, which is all more likely if they’re covered with ice. Other than an early storm Thankgiving weekend, mostly S SE of Fargo, we’ve had reliable power.
I have opera season tickets. It’s a short festival season, only 4 shows.
I also have chamber concert tickets — although I’ve missed almost all of them this year for one reason or another.
In the summer we have band concerts in the park near my house. It’s a local band made up of people who live in the area. It’s fun. Everyone brings their lawn chairs and their dogs and sits on a hill.
There’s a section of the city that has a lot of jazz clubs. It’s the old French part of the city; where Mardi gras is held.
And of course, just the regular touring rock/pop concerts that come to the big venues. I go hot and cold on those. Depends on who is coming. And I don’t like all the venues.
about the most exciting thing we have is the Fargo Blues Festival, I guess that would be my favorite outdoor venue. We had Tab Benoit last year, great Cajun Blues.
Not necessarily, we could have temps in Aug anywhere from 65-100F. If you’re gettin’ cooked out on the ball field there’s always seats up in the stands that are in the shade, and the beer vendors are there as well as next to the field.
If I haven’t seen someone for a few years this is where they’ll show up, so that adds to the fun.
I’m getting ready to go to bed, but first I wanted to say “Thank you” to all the denizens of the Cafe for the birthday wishes. I’ll repeat this later when people are actually awake. π
I did have a happy birthday; I got two presents, a new pair of jeans and tickets to see Arlo Guthrie on Tuesday. I’ve seen him perform a number of times over the years, and he always puts on a good show. I’ll need to take some extra money for whatever CDs he’s selling these days; two years ago it was a tribute album to Derroll Adams (Banjoman) and a remix of a kids album by his dad (Woody’s 20 Grow Big Songs).
Plus I got to spend time with all of my kids, significant others and grandkids. Any day I get to do that is pretty special.
A nice clean overnight cafe for all the nightime froggies to croak in.
there ya go sneakin’ off again…
How did you recognize me in my froggy bottom costume?
didn’t see any other logical choices lurking around the premises
Guess not. ej must have gone to bed early tonight. Jet lag. The young just can’t take it π

Yeah, maybe he’ll change his mind about those little rodents.
Although he said it had been raining all day; it was probably lightening or something.

Vive la pond!
trying to keep my photos small. this one is a lush.
what other music venues do you find worthwhile in your city.

Garth Brooks? (He could be retired for all I know.)
I included Garth in pop although I guess I should have made a category for country. They all play the same venues.
Actually I was kidding with Garth. I like almost all kinds of music, but usually for country, Willy is about as close as I get.
I like country OK when I hear it; I just don’t usually choose it.
I’m not real big on rap or hip hop. I like a melody.

Looks like fun. My first thought was that it would be awfully hot to have in August, but then I realized you were probably cooler than us in August.

100 is too hot!
Yeah, but we don’t usually have much for humidity with it, so that helps.
I’m calling it a night. See ya’
like last night!!!
the ska and reggae bands I used to hear in N CA.

Thank you all again for the birthday wishes.
