May the 4’s be with you
Welcome to the Early Morning Café. Coffee is ready and food on the table.
George is still asleep, so you’ll have to serve yourself. Make yourself at home.
Well, I’ve got my socks on. I guess that’s a start.
One piece of clothing at a time. 🙂
I could have been dressed a half hour ago if I just stopped checking my email and replies to comments left on about 4 different blogs!
(I’ve got my slacks on. You’re riveted by this process, I know)
Don’t think I can make it up to the fully dress part.
My heart is starting to give out. 🙂
Well, I got one reply (not from anyone here, however) and managed to get my shirt on.
Socks? Slacks? Shirt? I think I’m fully dressed now.
Are you holding up? I think it’s just a matter of filling the water bottles and getting the sandwich out of the fridge, now.
Am I supposed to reply to something? I’m a little lost here.
Nope, not you (I’m just passively grumbling at someone else)
Which isn’t fair at all, I’m sorry.
And I just remembered the Eegee Board! That’s exactly what it’s for!!
(slapping self)
It’s no problem and no need to apologize. I’m usually in the dark all the time, so I ask from time to time. 🙂
Good mornging, froggies! Gotta run to court, see ya later!
Hi/Bye
need COFFEE!!!
Flickers banging on the wall at 6:30 AM is not a good way to awaken…damn birds.
Here’s a mountain sunrise for you…
clik to enlarge
At least it looks like we’ll have blue skies today once the fog burns off..<fingers crossed>
Peace
The colors are magnificent in that photo dada. George is finally awake and will have you gallons of coffee. 🙂
Many thanks. George beat the Bu girl to it…she got up with me, went outdoors and is now zzzzzzz’g again…won’t hear a peep from her for at least another hour.
We’re not morning people here…:{)
Peace
Yeah, I hear you on that. I’m definitely a night person…. Unfortunately, I still have to work conventional office hours (most of the time at the office, even….)
Coffee is a Good Thing, lemme tell ya. 😉
Morning Janet. We’ve got all the coffee you could want. 🙂
Is the sun making an appearance for you yet dada?
Gorgeous photo!
Hey Olivia, I went ahead and printed out the ‘Bee & Pollen’ picture, framed it and it looks very, very good. It’s hanging on the wall right now.
… that not even my family members have one of my photos? You’re the first person to have actually done this — hang one of my photos! 🙂
Once you’re famous, I feel like I’ll have a place in history now. 😉
Honestly it’s like I told you the first time. I consider your photography more art than snapping pictures.
Olivia you’re an artist with talent.
I forgot to add what I do for Christmas. I go out and buy frames and find out what pictures each person likes. Then it just a matter of printing, making the frames work and wrapping. Works pretty good.
I may have to borrow it! 🙂
YES! Fog’s burning off and it’s nothing but blue skies…yippee.
How’s it goin’ O?
Peace
Good to hear that you’re getting the sun finally.
Going okie-dokie here, but I’ve been procratinating and LOL to myself w/ some links a colleague emailed:
cat and ceiling fan
herding cats
oh don piano
Oh, I so have to get to work… 🙂
MS NDD still has that pink flower as screen background, so I get to see that one every day now!
Me? I’ve got landscapes for background usually, since the wide open vistas give me sustenance that city life drains off.
Got your new camera system yet? Learned anything new?
The cat videos gave me a little stress release this morning. 🙂
Your landscape photos are definitely soothing and peaceful!
Nothing new on the camera front yet. Are you still thinking about writing the photog diary series?
photo series? Yes, but you should feel free to jump in there if’n you’ve got the desire to diary on that one.
I had intended to do part II of my nonviolent struggle series for this week, since I didn’t want to let too much time go inbetween diaries, but it’s not looking like I’ll get it today… so maybe T or W next week.
So if I could get that one out of the way, maybe the photo one would be a good one for over the weekend. MS NDD works F,S,S,M, so there’d be no conflict of schedules during that time.
…that you should stick with. I’ll look forward to your PtII.
If you do want any help on the photo one, don’t hesitate to shoot me an email (oliviainottawa at yahoo.ca) or Eegee mail. 🙂
yah, sure, thanks for the email, now all I’ve got to do is put that somewhere I’ll remember where to find it again, ha!
I’m certainly not omniscient at the photo stuff so the two heads better than one will definitely apply.
If you forget, it’s on my user info page (click on my name, and select info tag.) 🙂
makes me nostalgic for places and people I’ve known in N CA. When I was in Colorado I spent almost all the time in Denver… ackkk!!!! Limited supply of dimes then kept me out of the more interesting places.
Just a few quick reads and comments…3 hour meeting shortly and then a 2 hour meeting following that…looks like a totally unproductive day. Aaaaacccck!
Just barely enough time to have some coffee!
It’s sunny and warmer this morning here in the SF area…rain doesn’t return until Friday night!
I don’t know if it’s possible to get a cat to pose, but that one sure looks like it’s posing for the camera.
Looks more like a “you are disturbing me and what do you mean I can’t sit on ‘your’ leather chair” look to me!
It’s the back paw with claws slightly extended and the raised eyes look for me. The same look my cat gives me when I want ‘my’ chair back!
I agree with you. It’s got that ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign written all over it’s face.
Yes – cute but determined, that kitty.
Is it Friday yet?
OK then, I guess I better get dressed and go to work. I’m going to close my browser though. I don’t want anyone to go into spasms of laughter from watching.
Morning Omir. Other than having to go to work, how are you today?
Oh, about the same as usual. Grumpy to have to get out of bed and actually move around but happy to be here now that I’m here. Glad to be alive but pissed off at everything Republican. How about yourself?
Sorry I dozed off earlier. I’m fine so far today. Got to go grocery shopping tomorrow and I’m making a list, checking it twice…. Wrong season. 🙂
Cool. I made the Philly Inquirer along with Susie and Duncan.
Rubin is a cool guy.
Wow, that is cool Boo! Way to go… 🙂
What, no pictures? Pretty cool.
Here’s a picture of me with the Frog-artist (listening to Santana really loud):
Getting down with your bad self, I see.
“groovy man, groovy” 🙂
Heh. Cool! Very cool Booman.
I occasionally wonder whether Sandy Koufax (who is still very much alive but a very private individual) is aware of the Koufax Awards and if so, what he thinks of them being named after him. An article just before the 2004 election indicated that most members of the Mariners tended red, by a wide margin, and my guess is that this is probably true of most pro athletes. Koufax, though, if I remember right, grew up in New York in a different era, so who knows.
Taking it slow today — going to work on clearing out more old stuff to make room for the stuff we’re keeping. And I think I need to spend some time off the Internets — this diary over at the Orange Empire got my blood pressure up. I’m f-ing tired of “electability” — where did that get us in 2004?
Sorry, don’t mean to discuss politics here in the Cafe — I also did take another look at SallyCat’s sex diary to feel better… 🙂
Back in a bit…
Nap time over. How is everyone in the cafe, or is there anyone in the cafe.
Good morning again, FM.
Morning SN. How are things going today, so far?
I did something impulsive and irresponsible. I bought a leather sofa on deep discount because I hate the one we have.
Well you certainly don’t take things in half-steps, do ya. 🙂
My mother in law cashed in some stocks and sent me a small check with explicit instructions to buy something for myself. So half goes to the couch and half goes for a down payment on braces for the youngest Nature Boy.
It sounds like you’ve got a very good mother-in-law. That was real sweet of her telling you to buy something for yourself.
Now I have to figure out what to do with the “old” couch. It’s very large, pouffy, microsuede, very good condition. If anyone has a truck and can drive to Raleigh, it’s yours. It won’t fit in our attic or I’d save it for one of the kids when they move out.
What about Good Will or the other charities. I had them pick up an old couch before.
If I can’t sell it on Craigslist I’ll donate it to the place I volunteer at. They’re always looking for good furniture.
Sounds like a plan.
We should start a BooTrib bulletin board for things like that…goods and services, free stuff, jobs.
I moved over to the left. I agree about the bulletin board, but I just hope is doesn’t turn into a thread that keeps on and on and on. What I mean is, it could just as easily turn into another cafe type diary.
What do you think.
Yeah, you’re right. Maybe it should just be free stuff so it wouldn’t attract people trying to make money. I don’t even know if it’s legal. But Manny’s Eegee Board is cool. Maybe something like that.
Okay – back from my meetings….good fun – NOT!
Since everyone has been taking naps…and I’m sitting being bored…here’s a passed out puppy picture for all…!
Now that’s one very relaxed puppy!
Where the heck is everybody… waiting for the lounge to open???
I’ll bet he’s listening to an Enya CD.
Family Man, we need happy hour!!!
YES!!!!
Have we all been lurking, sending telepathic messages to FAmily Man to break out the booze?
We could always start without him. I brought my own wine:
That’s an idea, a wine bottle holder. Would it protect the bottle from a drop on the concrete, or just keep it cold, or is it just to keep your behavior incognito.
I think it’s only meant to keep it cold but it would provide a bit of cushioning if you dropped the bottle. Not much though. I actually have something similar in non-virtual life.
Much nice than a brown paper bag. Do you still sit on the railroad tracks to drink it, maryb?
If you want a swig of my wine while we sit here on the curb outside the lounge, you’d better be nice to me 🙂
Remember, I cry when I drink wine. Or is it that I whine when I drink beer? I can’t remember.
I’d better not give you any since you get easy when you get drunk. Being easy out in the gutter is more dangerous than being easy in an upscale lounge.
I was going to say something extremely clever and saucy, but the timer just went off which means my meatloaf is done. Just in time. 🙂
I was sitting with a bunch of CPA partners this morning for 3+ hours so I’m brain dead! Early happy hour would be terrific….
I was looking for some silly afternoon stuff…no such luck! But then again may we should start our own silliness!
that something like taking a SAT test?
sitting around listening to my boss do a dog and pony show.
Then they get to decide whether they want to make my life miserable as our auditors.
Then they get to guess as to how much the other folks in the room are going to charge and see if they can guess and be low bidder!
I get to smile and say it would be nice to work with any of them ~ not!
Wouldn’t THEY be doing the dog and pony show since they’re the ones that want your business?
After today they get to go back and think about our answers and story and decide.
California has a law similar to Sarbanes-Oxley. This is a post Enron “closing of the door” on accountability for the non-accountants! So we had to ask for new auditor bids every 3 years…really sucky.
Sally, Danni saw this photo and stole it for her hockey pick. I’ll have to copy it to our photobucket later. She had like ONE MINUTE to make her pick.
any ears!
so see you later.
Is it Happy Hour yet? Huh huh? Or do we have to go out to the curb with our drinks with MaryB?
Great pics, Sally! (as usual!) Your day sounds a lot like mine was… meetings, meetings, lunch meetings, webcam training… felt totally unfocused and worthless all day! Well at least tomorrow’s Friday and looking less jam packed for me. I know, Sally, you’re in income tax inferno for a few more weeks… hang in there! Maybe you too can learn to breathe fire too (if you haven’t already)!
Fournicator is coming along very nicely. Most of the core code is complete, and I’ve found that yes, it is possible to take Python code and turn it into a Windows executable.
Now I just have to figure out what I want the user interface to look like. It works now but it’s a command line program, and people just don’t seem to want to use command line programs anymore. It’s so 1989. Then once I do that I have some code I need to port over from from my RSS feed generator to build the list of diaries you can four-nicate, and it’ll be ready to test as soon as I can make it look all shiny and pretty.
It’s going to be a while yet, but I thought you all might be interested in a progress report.
We return you now to your regularly scheduled cafe, already in progress.
With that name – you must have been hanging out at C&J or over in my diary!
I love the concept – except I actually do read all the comments before I four them! And I’m not ‘that’ easy…not everyone always gets a 4!
Yeah, I know, it’s easy to cheat with this thing, but I’m writing it for people who read the comments, but go nuts clicking on the recommend dropdowns all the time. Or who get halfway through, decide to respond to something, and then figure out they should have clicked “Rate All” first.
And if you use it and want to downrate that 4, you still can.
Oh, and as for the name: I didn’t come up with it, though I wish I had. I was calling it RoboRater but I think it was Family Man who said it should be called Fournicator. Somehow it just seemed to fit the mood at the time. I’ll solicit other names later.
I didn’t think you were seriously making a four-er!!! This is wonderful! Wow! You will be the Café superstar — well, more than you already are 😉 — if you pull this off!
It was Second Nature
Happy Hour Opened!
Thank you. Credit where credit is due and all that.
Drinks by the beach….party is on!
Since it is still daylight and sunny here in CA I’m serving drinks by the beach! It’s chilly (about 57-60 degress)so wear a shawl or jacket!
7 day forecast…partly cloudy to sunny…66-70 degrees by next Thursday…with a warming trend.
Not too late to get airline tickets…and we’ll find a floor for extra sleepers!
Set me up a virgin strawberry daquiri. They’re a big favorite at our house — strawberries and limeade concentrate blended with crushed ice. I have to be careful with them, and brain freeze is the least of my problems. They’ll send my blood sugar through the roof if I’m not careful.
But boy, are they good.
My favorite strawberry daiquiri’s – virgin or otherwise – are made with french vanilla ice cream. Yummy – strawberry milkshake with a kick for me!
I thought I smelled alcohol!! 🙂 Whoot!
OK, so it doesn’t scan. The thought of that ice cream and strawberry daquiri has them doing the Snoopy dance all over my mouth.
NO worries OMIR – I can suck all the alcohol out of your drinks 🙂 You can count on me to be your drink buddy 🙂
Heh . . . somehow I figured I could count on you. 🙂
Hola!!! Man did the codepink email list get busy. Lotsa stuff coming up… whew.
Hey I have the best little brother anywhere!!! He just sent me a surprise gifty. A JOE THORNTON BRUINS JERSEY!!!! OMFHockeyG!!!! Whoooooooooooooooooot
OH an dhe has a new laptop so we might see him around here again.
Damnit Ryan? Yay!
Yep Damnit Ryan 🙂 It’s wicked Cool jersey! I’ve wanted a cool Bruin jersey and now that Joe is on OUR Sharks team… Whooooooooooooooooooot 🙂 Too damn cool 🙂
Hey, what is going on.
I got the phone message but haven’t been home the last 2 nights before 9pm….so I’ll call tonight.
Work hasn’t been conducive to telephone calls…boss in and out of my office all week…
Hugs sweetie!
(((Sally)))) it’s been CRAZY here, too 🙂
I have a “nature” story that I think would be of interest to you, and more comments on the same topic, if’n you are interested… email me at address in sig line.
Oh!! Thanks for the reminder I want to go re-check that one diary out again. I’ve been thinking about.
Cool I’ll email you – if you haven’t heard from me soon – it’s cause I SUCK at getting email addresses right. LOL
WE need to talk about dreams. OMG! That dream of the crow talking to my kids… was so damn vivid. I can still recall each detail. I have an imagination but my dreams a bit different though. This one – the scenery is even clear.
Le tme try to email you. 🙂
I’ll be looking for one!
