Quick – turn to CNN. Lara Login is giving a fabulous defense of the “negative” coverage of the war – she is articulate and fantastic!
So we now have some new felonies which will eventually require hundreds of new prisons. My question of the day: Why are conservatives who are so vehemently anti-government and anti-tax so anxious to spend untold billions locking up drug users and illegal immigrants? They aren’t willing to pay anything to help the less privileged, but they love funding wars on whatever. It seems kind of sick to me.
But was wondering, and I ask those of you who do, did anyone of the TV journalists bring up the WaPo-Domenech fiasco in a discussion of journalistic standards and ethics?
I thought not.
Strangle…. Wolf…. Blitzer…. slowly.
Someone.
Please.
I only caught a bit with dinner – which was almost enough to put me off – but he had the economic minister of UAE on gushing how America and UAE were still joined at the hip despite the ‘political’ shift in the port deal.
Blah, blah, blah…
Who cares Bitztard? He was practically begging her… begging for Boeing over the upcoming billion dollar plane deal.
Is he on their payroll?
He was almost stuttering… “You… You aren’t… ggg…gggg…. going to go with Aaaaa…. Airbus in Europe are yyy… you?”
Is this still news? Aren’t there other things going on right now that are a wee bit more important than grovelling to the UAE right now?
I recall he even went over there during the height of the port scandal and was praising how tight the ports were in Dubai – how rosy it all was. Meanwhile the NYT, WAP, and every other major media outlet were noting that UAE ports are notoriously corrupt and a haven for money laundering, Afghani heroin, and shipment of nuke materials.
What a tool. How unfortunate that he’s all we get for US Sunday talk in Europe. Lucky we get Jon Stewart to balance things out a bit and provide some more timely coverage of the American political pulse… albeit tongue-in-cheek.
I love how Blitz tilts his head and looks straight into the camera every time one of his polls does not go his way – and reaffirms…
“Remember. This is NOT A SCIENTIFIC POLL.” with extra emphasis.
It’s the best part of his dog and pony show.
The end that is.

apparently on indefinite loan to CNN. My favorite Leslism is his endearing habit of ending every story with a one-sentence sum up of the latest White House press release on whatever topic was being covered.
