Theh only way karl baby would do such a thing is to save his own hide..and steer the eye of suspicion away from him. I seriously doubt that can ever be done. He has already lied…and lied way to many times to contrive such a story as this..He may try, but will not get away from his complicity in the whole deal. I seriously think it will involve all in the WH and all that ook place in this whole ordeal. He just can’t get away from any of this..never…I think it is just a ploy to make him look good… opinions are like anal orfices, every one has one, this is only mine…:o)
Of course Rove’s a rat. His fealty is to the guy with all that butch charisma (aged now though he may be).
Beyond that, of course, Rove’s fealty is to Rove.
Let him squirm.
I watched that and I have to say I was very impressed with her interview. VERY impressed. She told it like it is and no punches pulled for dear howie. I hope he gathers up some spine and starts to figure this all out…but sadly enough, I doubt he will. She will probably not ever get an interview of any sorts now….;o(
naw, just do what I do when it comes to watching howie, I wait and watch things like this on crooks and liars. They are the best way to catch up with the hi spots..;o)
Thanks for the link!! First of all, Lara Logan was so direct and articulate with her comments, it was refreshing to see. Her points are extremely valid ones since security is the number one issue of the day. Her response to Laura Ingraham’s “comments” was spot on with the touch of class on the “eight days” comment to solidify her point.
I hope Lara Logan continues to maintain her forth right style of reporting for the rest of us who need to understand the entire situation, not just what we “want to hear!”
If, and I mean If this is true, it could only be because Fitzgerald finally got something so substantial on Rove that he was forced to squeal enough to get some kind of plea deal.
This would be beyond fantastic. Fitz has been way too quiet lately and I’ve been hoping there was some method to the silence.
But, if this was indeed true, Cheney and Bush would have forced his resignation to get him out of the loop immediately, no?
Forcing Rove’s resignation? Personally, I don’t think so.
If any member of the administration is absolutely crucial to the public perception of a functioning governance & leadership — this perception being the whole story, as we don’t actually have functional governance or leadership (just a conglomerate of power-interests securing profit by edict) — it’s Rove. My understanding is that he keeps the whole illusion operational, mainly via media.
Rove isn’t only Bush’s brain; he’s also the body. Without the Bush figurehead to represent an actual government (in the starring role of ‘president’) the show couldn’t go on — but it’s absolutely essential that it does.
As a number of others have said, that would be more or less like Charlie McCarthy forcing Edgar Bergen to resign. Or, in the case of His Nibs, more like Mortimer Snerd forcing Edgar Bergen to resign. (The link is to a Wikipedia article about Edgar Bergen for those too young to know what I’m talking about.)
Just for the hell of it all, I want to say I adore those Geico insurance commercials. They are really put together good, down to the littlest detail, I think. I smile each time I see one…and another one I get a kick out of is the aflac duck… Just had to get that off my chest…;o)(((since this is an open thread)))
The wording of some phrases gives the impression that Rove may have done more than just answer questions.
By providing the dates and recipient information of the deleted emails, sources say, Rove was able to chart a path for Fitzgerald directly into the office of the Vice President.
When the next reference is considered, does this mean it’s not a direct path to Cheney’s office?
According to one source close to the case, Rove is providing information on deleted emails, erased hard drives and other types of obstruction by staff and other officials in the Vice President’s office. Pentagon sources close to Rove confirmed this account.
The AP mentions little more than the fact that 250 pages of emails were turned over by the Vice President’s office and does not indicate when. The White House was enjoined to preserve and turn over all correspondence relating to the inquiry when it began in 2003.
In October 2003, then-White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales told all White House employees to turn in copies of numerous documents relating to the CIA leak investigation. It was sent after the Justice Department told the White House to hand over all records that could be relevant to investigators. According to an article at the time, the deadline was Oct. 10, 2003.

The AP article referenced was at Forbes and focused on protecting the identity of another official who was a source.
Update 4: Identity of Official to Be Kept From Libby
Former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, charged with perjury in the CIA leak case, cannot be told the identity of another government official who is said to have divulged a CIA operative’s identity to reporters, a federal judge ruled Friday.
At the same time, U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton said Libby could have copies of notes he took during an 11-month period in 2003 and 2004 while serving as chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney.
The judge also set the stage for a showdown in late April over the defense’s plans to subpoena reporters and news organizations for notes and other documents in the leak of Valerie Plame’s identity.
During a hearing Friday afternoon, Walton said Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald can keep secret the other government official’s identity because that person has not been charged and has a right to privacy.

,,,and might be the same batch as the ones mentioned in a slightly earlier Truthout article
The White House turned over last week 250 pages of emails from Vice President Dick Cheney’s office. Senior aides had sent the emails in the spring of 2003 related to the leak of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald revealed during a federal court hearing Friday.
The emails are said to be explosive, and may prove that Cheney played an active role in the effort to discredit Plame Wilson’s husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, a vocal critic of the Bush administration’s prewar Iraq intelligence, sources close to the investigation said.
Sources close to the probe said the White House “discovered” the emails two weeks ago and turned them over to Fitzgerald last week. The sources added that the emails could prove that Cheney lied to FBI investigators when he was interviewed about the leak in early 2004. Cheney said that he was unaware of any effort to discredit Wilson or unmask his wife’s undercover status to reporters.
Cheney was not under oath when he was interviewed. He told investigators how the White House came to rely on Niger documents that purportedly showed that Iraq had tried to purchase uranium from the African country.

But this doesn’t look to favorably on Rove. Either it’s a new batch or spin.
The few members of my community I’ve spoken to who still support the invasion of Iraq (& actually welcome a continuing US involvement in Mid-East conflict) do so in their belief that perpetual oil war means cheap, freely-flowing oil for the US.
I’m wondering how they’d change their tune if they considered this piece by Greg Palast?
Something to consider throwing out to your wingnut friends, folks.
I’m finding that the single problem these hard-core Republicans have with their Commander-In-Chief is the look of their wallets at the gas tank.
Now if that is not an interesting read! I could easily believe in that one! Makes a lot of sense too…they simply do not care about anyone but themselves…a sad sack of f***kers if you ask me.
REF: update…what an interesting read! Makes one stop and think…it really does. I think we ought to rid the entire world of nukes. I am realistic tho, I do know it will not happen now…not ever..:o(
What’s scary for me is that Fitz has made a deal with Rove under the radar of the public. Everyone testifies to the fact that Fitz is squeaky clean but he is anything but if he is making deals with the devil. It is preposterious to make a separation between the presidential and vice presidential office as if they are two separate entities. What is the precedent for this in American history? And if Fitz is a party to it, he has severely disappointed me.
Wow! Makes me wish I had HBO. I sent the following to HBO after reading the “New Rules” piece:
Just a quick note thanking Bill for his recent “New Rules” discussion of global warming. He hit the nail on the head. This is the #1 issue threatening America’s security, from the spread of tropical diseases to America, to flooding as the ice caps melt, to more frequent and powerful storms while the midwest faces more frequent drought. Bush’s refusal to address this issue is a crime against humanity, most especially all our children. But since it might mean collective sacrifice to address climate change I expect no leadership; far easier to beat the drum for war, and stir up fear with the never-ending war on terror as an excuse to squelch dissent and civil rights while redistributing wealth to the most well-off.
Since I don’t have HBO, someone let me know if they air it, LOL. And in the meantime, the Democrats are welcome to use that since paragraph as their platform in 2006; I think I managed to tie in everything except Valerie Plame, LOL.
But that’s the point. We’re now at the dawn of an era in which an extreme and fanatical religious ideology, undeterred by the usual calculations of prudence and self-preservation, is wielding state power and will soon be wielding nuclear power.
We have difficulty understanding the mentality of Iran’s newest rulers. Then again, we don’t understand the mentality of the men who flew into the World Trade Center or the mobs in Damascus and Tehran who chant “Death to America”–and Denmark(!)–and embrace the glory and romance of martyrdom.
Nor do we understand our own religious and ideolistic fanatics, who murder doctors, bomb health clinics, pray for the death of liberal judges, suggest assassination of foreign leaders…
Theh only way karl baby would do such a thing is to save his own hide..and steer the eye of suspicion away from him. I seriously doubt that can ever be done. Essentially what rove is saying:
“All of those times I said I knew absolutely nothing about all of traitorgate? Well I lied then, ok? I knew about it all… Even the cover-up!”
Karl “Benedict Arnold” Rove: Traitor to his country AND now traitor to all of his neocon pals as well.
Just another typical republican.
precisely!!!!!!!!!! that is the point, at least how I see it anyhow…hugs…
Of course Rove’s a rat. His fealty is to the guy with all that butch charisma (aged now though he may be).

Definitely worth watching. She was brilliant in that interview. First I’ve seen of her. Now I have to read Her Info
I might have to start watching TV again!

Do you apply pressure to someone that can get you thrown in jail?
No… bush, cheney, et al, will not force rove to resign.
More likely scenario: They will send him hunting with cheney.
If, and that is a very big if, this is true, I would not fly in a private jet anymore. You know what that got Wellstone, you know! ;o)

That’s definitely the impression I have, too. They’re supplying evidence.
This is also old news.

Mine achieved takeoff velocity months ago from the indicator spinning so fast and I haven’t seen it since.
For those among us, who like me, do nor have cable, here’s Bill Maher’s Rant on Global Warming from last Friday’s show…text only.
Worth the read regardless of your opinion of Mr. Maher.
