I pictured him in one of those coverall type outfits they wear on space ships.

today they call it microfiber. It’s very fashionable. He’d look great in it — not that we’d see him in the picture or anything.

Hmm, Andi, you have a point there … and we’re as green a household as can be … I was just imagining that SN was wanting something a bit more out of my particular realm of reach.
I was thinking green age means youth, the time for growing, when we’re more flexible before we get hardened.
I slept through that. But we’re never too old to learn and grow.

SN, that’s what I thought you meant… about the age… and that’s definitely out of my reach! If I could do such a whammy feat, I’d have green aged myself about 20 years ago! Lol, and I’m not really that old! Oh well, better to learn, than be young, lithe and witless, I always say.
But gardening is all about regeneration, taking the dormant earth and bringing it to life.

I’m in Des Moines… though I grew up very close to Clarinda, and one of my uncles still does. You do know that Glenn Miller was from there originally? LOL, and John Wayne was born not too far from here in Winterset… plus Donna Reed and Jean Seberg were also natives. Perhaps best known is Marcia Wallace (from Creston) who was on the old Bob Newhart show, and also the voice of Mrs. Krebapple on the Simpsons. Enuf trivia.
re: photo posting, I know that the pics need to be hosted somewhere (can you use your own personal web space for that? eg. from my gardening site?) Or do you have to use photobucket or flickr?
Basically I have very little knowledge of how to use HTML tags properly yet, that’s what’s holding me back… I’m afraid I could get it to post, but it would be so huge it would take over the page and i don’t want to do that!
Think all I really need to do is see some examples laid out, try it myself and experiment a bit.. it’s the sizing coding that has me baffled.

You can host pictures at a website but there may be bandwidth and storage issues. Most people use a hosting service like photobucket, imageshack, or flickr.
To post a picture you just need to use an <img> which identifies the image url and can have a width set if your picture is bigger than 400px.

Andi showed me how to post pictures and trust me, if I can anyone can. Just make sure you hit preview and you’re set.

It’s a preemptive strike on my part. I’ve learned some things over the years to lower people’s expectations of me.
It’ll take a lot more than a mention — a Mother Hen/Bossy Older Sister with strong obssessive tendencies who has a very high opinion of you isn’t going to be so easily distracted. I’m going to stick with this like wet toilet paper.

Very positive 3 days at a professional conference…learned a lot. Big changes and info on how to move into the late 20th century! Hey I’m in academia…21st century is for the next person!

My mother has been a die-hard neocon ever since the first Bush administration when S. Hussien was propped up as the Evil Emperor. In the interim, it has been almost impossible to talk to her. In recent years, I couldn’t even mention the French Lavender that was flourishing in my garden without provoking a diatribe against the French. (Freedom Lavender?)
But today I went to visit her and we entered into a political discussion (something I have learned to avert at all costs) because of all the kids who are marching in the streets to protest the proposed crack down on “illegal immigration.” I was surprised when she announced that it didn’t matter what any of the political parties did, since there where really THREE political parties. She counted them off. On her thumb, the Republicans, on her forefinger, the Democrats, and on her middle finger — which she kept extended — corporate interests. She said it didn’t matter what anyone did since it was really corporate interests that were in control of this country — and the world — and they are accountable to no one and nothing, except their own limitless greed.
Not that my Mom is a weatherman, but it could be an indication that something very basic has shifted in this country. Hope so and hope it’s too the good!

I do know that my hubby has said that he works with quite a few disgruntled Shrub voters and they have really been coming around in the past few months, so maybe that infamous “buyer’s remorse” is finally kicking in? My response to that is: What took ya so damn long???
Your hubby might be onto something. My mother only goes where her extremist neocon husband leads, so it may be true that her views reflect a basic “sea change” in our political environment. Let’s hope it is all to the good!

Well it turned sunny and dried out so I did lawn work. Arrrggggg.
Just for you SN with special mention to Andi. While I was mowing, a snake bit me, and when I jumped away, my foot got stuck under the lawn mower and cut off. So now I have a bloody stump to limp on when or if I go back outside, and a snake that looks suspiciously like a King Cobra standing five feet tall eyeing the lawn mower. On a good note, I don’t have Necrotizing Fasciitis. I look for that to start tomorrow.

My take is that Glenn Miller probably did the same thing I did after growing up down there… High tail your butt out at the earliest opportunity! I’ve always referred to that part of the state as the smelly armpit of Iowa. And I know of what I speak.
I’ll have to check into hosting sources, I guess. I do have 2-4 megs of space on my earthlink accounts, but wonder if I would have bandwidth issues there. Storage itself is not the problem…

The LA area is crammed w/ great photo ops. Venice, Santa Monica, Malibu, Pasadena. Mullholland area, Palisades, points south like Newport, Huntington, Laguna Beaches museums…just a few of the one’s I’m familiar with, and I don’t even get out there much anymore.
You’ll find something, I have faith.
