It’s sad to listen to Specter suggest that no one should censure the President because they can’t prove he acted in bad faith.
He’s acting in bad faith now, isn’t he?
John Dean: congress should censure to prove speration of powers
Orrin Hatch: inherent presidential powers…sheesh
Feingold is talking now.
Feingold is talking about a cover-up. And he is also sounds irritated.
Feingold: Mr. Chairman, you didn’t help me draft this resolution but if you want me to add the words ‘bad faith’ into it, let’s slap it right in there.
I will reiterate…A United States Senator has called “Cover Up”. mmm….
Lindsay Graham just made an ass of himself discussing Watergate with John Dean.
How can the citizenry of South Carolina reelect Graham after such a display of ignorance and disrespect for the system?
While Dean responded to questions in an appropriate demeanor, Linsey Graham hooted and interrupted his answers until Specter (the Chair) reminded him of good manners. Graham was a JAG lawyer in the Persian Gulf War, but he acts like a B-movie reject, complete with exaggerated grimaces of contempt. He insisted there is bona fide debate on whether Bush has exceeded constitutional authority. Dean spoke about Nixon’s claim to authority based on national security. Evidently attempting to discredit the witness, or bait him (it didn’t work), Graham lied — unfettered by Rules of Evidence — saying that both Dean and Nixon knew of the Watergate break-in ahead of time. Even after Dean denied this, Graham stated with pompous energy that Nixon had prior knowledge of the break-in, adding that Nixon went to jail.
According to the on-line Biographical Directory of the U.S. Congress, Senator Graham was one of the Clinton impeachment proceedings managers in the House of Representatives in 1998.
Hold the phone. Impeachment?
Look who wants in on the spotlight, again…
Orrin Hatch.com does not see any evidence at all that the President is defying Congress.
Leahy leaving. That leaves right now, only Feingold to stand up to the President, and the Republican Congress…by himself…what’s wrong with this pictur?
Intuitive reaction:
Feingold looks rock solid. Not about to back off or “fold” on anything. The only thing that could silence him would his death.
I’ve not had anything near this kind of strong intuitive reaction to anyone since Wellstone.
oh dear, don’t even whisper that thought. He’s almost the only champion we have left. I hope he’s careful. I hope he has good people around him looking out. I hope he flies commercial flights.
Oh, and Leahy LEFT?
fucker.
Times are different now. More of us have awakened on necessary levels and are on duty in all sorts of seen and unseen ways. I sense he is quite well protected..
I have bee watching the CSPAN hearing like some of you.
Here are three “less than credible witnesses”:
Lee Casey – Regan’s Administration – believes in Straussian Philosophy and Wrote apologist article about Guantanamo for the Wall Street Journal – behind a firewall and I cannot access full article.
John Schmidt – Clinton’s former Assoc. Attorney General – Media Maters debunked his arguments here
Robert Turner – another neocon.
The Federalist Society is ALL about neocon philosophy and how to overtake our judiciary system
NeoCon Ideology was founded on the teachings of Leo Strauss at University of Chicago. Strauss was a protege and colleague of Carl Schmitt, the German Jurist who proclaimed Hitler a Dictator and supervised the writing of Nazi Policy into German Law in 1933. Links between Strauss and Schmitt are here and here.
BOTTOM LINE – If they are associated with the Federalist Society they are advocates for Nazi Philosophy/ideas and therefore traitors. NOT CREDIBLE Witnesses!!!
Since for all intents and purposes, there’s no current open thread right now, I thought I’d just mention here that Dan Froomkin’s most recent column in the Washington Post gives a special shout out to BooMan’s post, “Waas on Plamegate”: “The blogosphere is abuzz with Waas’s latest revelation. The Booman Tribune blog explains how it is in fact Waas’s ‘magnum opus on the Plame Affair.'”
Just figured people might like to know that.
