Your host today is Maryb.
Once upon a time there was a frog called Mr. Jeremy Fisher.
He lived in a damp little house amongst the buttercups at the edge of the pond.

That 4 looks good on you!
and everyone else. (If you introduce yourself, you become a froggy.)
I’m Family Man and I’ve been croaking for a while.
How are you today Mary?
Good morning. Oh, that’s YOU croaking?
Well who else? Not being the most vocal croaker in the pond, I do get in a small ribbit every now and then. 😉
Are your guests gone?
Nope it looks like they’ll be here for a long time. 🙁
But, everything is going good today. George has stopped barking so much and Cat has come out from behind the TV.
Who could ask for more. 😉
I’m concerned. George has stopped barking?
<gasp> you’ve gagged him and put him in the closet didn’t you?
I would really love to sometimes, but no.
He goes through 2 or 3 day of barking when family come home to stay for awhile. The only exception is my older brother who is here. George will bark and bark, run to the my room (supposedly to catch his breath), and then come out and bark more. I love the little guy, but he drives me up the wall sometimes.
I hate to ask FM, but George isn’t named after our Dear Leader, is he? Dear Leader’s papa?
Funkmaster George Clinton?
Boy George?
Curious George?
George of the Jungle?
George Clooney?
George Clooney is a problem drinker?
Well now that could apply to George. Mary has cut him off from drinking in the cafe.
Poor George.
No. I’ve just seen George the dog in evening wear, and the resemblence is amazing.
He does look rather dapper, doesn’t he?
That is George the dog.
well, George the man too
Nope, just George. His brother’s name was Henry.
Oh, I see, you named them after an economist?
If it works for you, OK. 😉
intellectual bragging is NOT allowed in the cafe.
LOL Mary, as if I didn’t know who Henry George was.
Thank God for Wikpedia.
I didn’t know who Henry George was. But I see he was born in from blogger heaven — Philadelphia 🙂
Unless you are really into Ontario’s political history. Perhaps?
Show off. Feeling all cocky today cuz Froomkin linked to you huh?
I don’t think George has been anywhere near Canada, he’s a southern dog.
I was going to tell George about the people he could have been named after. But, I decided not to because I would have to bring up the 2 G’s, whose names shall not be mentioned.
for them to check into a motel? LOL
I am Refinish69 and been here for a short time but have found some great kindred souls. I think even Maryb has forgiven me for stealing Luke. LOL
My name is Alohaleezy and I am a BooTribaholic. I am powerless over posting but have taken the first step and admitted it!!
Thank you Alohaleezy for taking this brave, brave step. We’ll need to find an appropriate sponsor for you as you go through the program. Let me give that some thought.
Me, me, me, me. 😉
A program moderator should always be suspicious of someone who wants to be a sponsor TOO MUCH. We don’t want anyone taking advantage of Leezy.
Awww Geeze Mary.
Wait a minute, what are you talking about? Ya’ll corrupted me!
I was tired of living in denial and that ain’t a river in Egypt!
LOL
I post a nice long comment in the coffee cart about our excursion to the the-yay-ter last night, and immediately a new cafe opens up. You’d think I had the knack for it.
Maybe my next project after fixing the diary feed (almost there, just have to put the recommended tags back in) and doing up the Robo-Rater page should be to build myself a little notifier that tells me a new cafe is open, so I can get instantaneous notice that I missed my mark once again.
Naaah. Too much work.
I saw your comment and was hoping you’d come over. I saw that show about 15 years ago when a local theatre group did it and I wondered why more groups didn’t do it. It has wonderful songs.
CONGA!
I’m sort of surprised the songs don’t get more play on their own. It vaguely seems like I might have heard “Ohio” once but that might have been in a season preview we went to last year. I mean, even an undistinguished musical few have ever heard of that we did in high school called Little Me has two or three songs I’ve heard on the radio, or — I kid you not — once as a piece of Muzak in a department store.
Omir you do have a thing with the timing don’t cha.
I saw the earlier posts and the show sounded great.
Yeah, I noticed your reply. Thanks!
It was a great show. The Fifth Avenue here in Seattle is expensive, but in terms of the theater arts it serves three very important functions:
Got a picture of the building? I keep picturing Grauman’s chinese in LA.
The building exterior isn’t all that — mostly it just looks like a big ol’ storefront with a marquee bolted onto it — but here are some pictures of the interior I got from Google Images:
This is a shot of the interior. The dome in the ceiling is recessed and you can look up into it to see intricate wood carving.
This is the staircase leading to the balcony.
And this is a detail of some of the woodwork over the stage, I think.
That IS magnificent. Those old movie palaces were something weren’t they? We have one here that’s decorated in the Byzantine style.
How does your grandchild react to all the splendor?
If she’s impressed by the decor, she doesn’t show it. She enjoys live theater — for a couple of years now we have taken her to plays as diverse as “The Man Who Came To Dinner,” “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” “Hairspray” (which she absolutely loved), and our annual pilgrimage to whichever of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas the local G&S Society was doing that particular year. We also take her to concerts (she was only so-so with Arlo Guthrie), museums, the zoo and other places when we get the chance. I figure maybe she’ll appreciate the culture that we’re exposing her to, and maybe she won’t, but at least she’ll have some exposure to it to know whether she likes it or not.
I’ve never been to what you would call a professional theater. The local college has plays of which I’ve gone to a couple. It sounds very exciting though.
It’s very expensive but a lot of fun. We would probably go a lot less if we didn’t have an elderly friend who doesn’t want to go alone.
That’s really nice going with your elderly friend.
The pictures of the interior are spectacular.
Maybe he could come down and take YOU to the theater FM. Since he’s doing elderly outreach …
I’m just studying for the Geezerhood now. I haven’t attained full Geezerhood yet. 😛
naps have you had today? (and have you ungagged George yet?)
Only one. For full Geezerhood you need at least four or five a day.
And yes I ungagged George. I did have to feed him.
Where’s SN today? She hasn’t been around all day has she?
No I haven’t seen her. Well I haven’t read her today.
She might still be going through that headache. I sure hope she gets to feeling better.
I don’t know if it’s the site, my computer, or my IP, but things sure are taking forever to refresh. You having any problems.
everything or just the cafe?
OK it’s over. I just rebooted my computer and it’s all better.
My sister just got back from buying my Mom new dresses for the bridal shower tomorrow and the wedding.
I was amazed when she told me how many invitations they sent out for the wedding – 750. The invitations come with a RSVP card that also ask the number of people you’ll be bringing. If all show up with just one other person that 1500 people.
What ever happened to a Justice of the Peace?
I thought ALL southern weddings were big. With at LEAST 7 bridesmaids, all in pink, with big bows on their butts. Not that I’m stereotyping or anything …
My neice has 12, but no pink and no bows on their butts.
No here in the cafe would sterotype.
Especially about ALL southern wedding. 😉
12? 12 !!!!
Baby blue? strapless?
I don’t even remember to be honest. All I remember is the family church was standing room only and a giant tent was beside the family house on the farm. In the tent were tables that streched forever with every food imaginable, table and chairs for seating, and a dance floor and band. There was still a lot more stuff in the farm house.
That should have been tables and chairs. Didn’t want you to think there was only one table for everyone. 😉
Hello maryb, Family Man, Leezy, Omir!
Good morning Olivia. How are you today?
I’m doing okay. Hope you have a better day today. Does the family visit interfere w/ your napping?
It interfers with it tremendously. They have yet to understand there is a certain zen to laziness.
Hi Olivia! Will this be a photo taking day?
Have a lot of errands to do. But, I was so excited last night. Look what’s growing outside in the garden maryb:
Crocus buds, taken 2006-03-31 (view large)
Spring is here at last. 🙂
oooh yellow crocuses? I love yellow flowers.
it sort of looks like it’s emerging from plastic? In larger view it sort of looks like it’s emerging from a spider’s web. weird
Aren’t they so cheerful looking — especially in the dark and mucky garden. Here’s a couple more:

Beautiful!!!! You really do need to put your photographs on prints and cards and that type of thing and sell them. Yuo can always email me if you have questions about it.
I will tuck your invitation and email address away for when I get some time to seriously ponder and plan. Thanks for the offer!!!
You are welcome!!!!
Mary and Refinish are admiring you picture, but I’ve been admiring all morning over at your site.
Neener, neener, neener Mary and Refinish. 😉
neener, neener …
where IS Boran2 with my m&ms?
I believe he’s beginning to come down with a case of the Slack.
LOL
You’re funny. So, when will we see your macro work? I read in the other cafe that you’re going to give it a “shot” … 🙂
Morning Olivia! Nice to see you. You’re looking very . . . non-pink today. 🙂
(I’m sure you’re pink on the inside, though.)
… afraid to post anything too pink. I don’t want to contribute to, or be the cause of, your diminishing eyesight! LOL 🙂
Heh. After I posted that I got to thinking: “pink” is a term in the Church of the Subgenius for a non-Subgenius, and an uncomplimentary term at that, as in this story from BoingBoing:
(Emphasis mine)
So in that particular sense being non-pink is a good thing, at least as far as high weirdness is concerned fnord. It has nothing to do with CodePink, although FSM help us if the two groups ever got together.
Who ya gonna miss seeing today? THE BOOD is magnificent as always.
Good morning Alice. Thanks for the link.
I am in constant awe of Bood Abides. He is about the funniest thing on four wheels.
Took a not so great nap as I was afraid ups would show up and the dogs wouldn’t wake me up. LOL
I am missing my morning meeting waiting for them but such is life.
I did have a well known blog ask could they crosspost my podcast to their site podcast. LOL I am kind of excited.
That’s great Refinish.
Thanks!!!
I got to go and start getting some stuff done.
See ya later.
Mornin’ yawl, or what’ll have to pass for it…
kiss me and I’ll turn into a prince
’cause I’m not sure about this frog stuff…eatin’ flies don’t cut it – I want sushi!
Peace
:*
(waiting)
I don’t see any change?
Takes a second or two…but I brung ya a rose.
Wuzup mb?
Peace
I’m hoping you can turn ME into Beyoncé.
Doing a duet with Prince (he IS Prince again, not symbol man?) would sure beat what I’m doing right now — my taxes.
Your wish is my command
Oh yeah, taxes…my acct. has begun to leave threatening msgs. for me…if I don’t get the stuff to him on Monday, I’m gonna have to go into hiding.
Peace
Wow, it’s an amazing spell. When I look in the mirror I just see the old me. But I’m sure when I walk down the street everyone else sees the new me. I hope the clothes come with the package. And the voice. 😉
I can hear my footsteps echoing in the café. Where is everybody?
Is that Beyoncé/Mary over there? Did dada put a spell on her?
The truth will come out when she starts to sing.
No roses, but a little bit of clover from the backyard.
It’s still me.
I hate doing taxes. I don’t really mind paying them, I just think they should be easier to do.
Thank goodness it’s you.
Taxes. I’ve found a way to make them easy. Just make next to no money and you don’t have to go through all those forms, deductions, etc.
Of course trips to Italy would probably be out too. 😉
I’ve finally made my federal return work. (or at least it somewhat resembles last year’s) and I don’t care if Missouri works because for the last 15 years (at least) the department of revenue always sends me a “you’re such an idiot, you can’t add and your return is WRONG” letter. Wouldn’t want to mess with tradition 🙂
To celebrate I’m going for a walk. But first I’ll open a new cafe. Be right back.
to the new cafe.
