Good Morning everyone!!!! I hope everyone one is well and that your week has been fabulous so far!!!! I will admit I am heading towards total exhaustion. LOL I had a great time at Democracy for Texas last night and got to spend time with activist I haven’t seen in the last few months.
This was the third night in a row for meetings this week. There is another one I was going to attend tonight to show support for another group but will skip just so I can rest a little. LOL
You froggies need to wake up. I need my morning fix of liberalism from my liberal pond mates. I know it must be nice sleeping in and all that but remember us poor slobs who have to get up early. LOL
I have read a few dairies and did a podcast response in support of a candidate on thier site. LOL I guess it is time for the “SSS” routine. I need to get to work. I will check in from work if I get a chance otherwise I will see you good folks tonight.
I know I’m not supposed to say this as a parent (I think there’s some sort of unwritten rule that you’re supposed to complain about summer vacation and the kids being off school), but I can’t wait either.
I wish more people would admit that they like having the kids home for the summer, rather than call us teachers lazy for only 9 and 1/2 months. Damn, I have worked 2 hours every night this week, not to mention the grading marathon of last weekend, a cozy 16 hours in 2 days.
My principal is a knob, the kids are ultra-whiny and lazy, staff morale is looooow, and I’d rather play with Andrew. Part of me really regrets not taking a personal leave this year. Now, I’ll have to wait another year before I can take a leave. My husband is going to work half-time next year, so I’m on for a full year and then I’ll take a leave.
Now I really do have to leave, the kids are in the building.
See everyone tomorrow. I’m taking a sick day because the mother-in-law is having cataract surgery (both eyes!), so I’ll be taking care of Andrew!!!!
Just checked the area where we went — the highs are in the mid-sixties.
The other thing that would have been helped is that we couldn’t do some trails because the roads to them were impassable even for 4WD due to deep mud caused by melting snow.
and got on the computer to make a comment in the cafe and you think that’s worth a nyah? Good thing you are going back to sleep because your analytical skills aren’t functionally properly. 🙂
because you are in a different time zone doesn’t evoke jealousy in people in other time zones since you aren’t actually sleeping late. Sleeping until whenever you want like Family Man — now that is worthy of jealousy.
For those using Firefox, I found that the Robo-Rater did not work with tabbed browsing (New Tab), but it is still working w/ pages opened in an individual window (New Window).
On the page where you see ROBO-RATER, right-click on it and select ‘Bookmark this link’ and make the bookmark.
Then go back to BT (be sure to be in a window with no tabs), select a diary where there are new comments that you haven’t rated. Select the robo-rater link you made. Then go down to display and choose nested (or any of the other settings) and set (which will force the page to refresh correctly).
until the refresh — that’s when the 4’s are actually assigned. But the behavior you can see is identical whether it works or not. You can’t tell it worked until you do the refresh.
Really? That’s awesome. I discovered the tab/new window problem right away, but I didn’t say anything b/c well, I don’t know why. I wasn’t going to say anything this morning, but thought what the hell. I seem to be the only who is finding it working, so I’ll document everything I’m doing.
We’ll have to tell Omir so that he can add it to his information page.
(Oh, and did you notice that I didn’t change the subject — I did that on purpose. It’s not often that I’m called a genious even though Omir did all the work. He’s the genious. And Family Man, if you’re reading this, I don’t want to thump you, really. This whole mudpit thing was a momentary lapse. Which you started. :P)
Whether you’re on a tabbed or non-tabbed page shouldn’t make a bit of difference. See, what Robo-Rater does is call up this web page using a specially crafted URL that does the rating magic. I can explain it in tech terms, but I just woke up and I’m afraid I’d put myself back to sleep. Then it calls up the regular web page and refreshes it. By that time the ratings are there, you apparently just can’t see them because of the vagaries of that refresh operation.
But if the single page trick works, I’m all for it! I shall investigate further tonight, time and energy permitting. I also need to start work on the Mark II, which if I can get it to work will bypass the bookmarklet limitations IE imposes. Maybe it’ll even solve the refresh problem. I hope.
I’m a scientist-type, so the whole ‘trial and error, and document results’ thing works for me, (i.e., I really enjoy it :). I am in no way a programmer, so I bow to you and you’re abilities (and would not likely understand your tech terms). Thank you for all the time you put into this project!
Trial and error is part of the scientific method. You’re forming a hypothesis and testing it to see if you can build a theory of Making Robo-Rater Work. That’s science. 😀
The point I was trying to make is, if your browser supports bookmarklets, once the Robo-rater-created URL makes it to BooMan’s server the ratings will happen. The problem is to get them to show up so it doesn’t feel like you’re just throwing your fours over the wall. I will admit to not being a Javascript guru (this is the first time I’ve ever written anything from scratch to run in Javascript, in fact) so there could be edge cases and things that I’m not aware of. I plan to write Mark II in a language I’m more familiar with (Perl or Python) just in case it’s a matter of me not knowing how to get the page to refresh properly in Javascript or something.
seems to work okay if you have more than one tab open…just tested it. (Unless I’m still too asleep to realize what you’re trying to say…)
Woke up at 5 something, couldn’t get back to sleep (cold has now turned into chest congestion). Did some computer stuff (had a new OS update to install) and cruised the blogs. Now going to see if a hot shower helps clear the gunk…have a great day…
Olivia, I’ve updated the Roto-Rater page with your discovery. And now I suppose I should quit doing this important stuff and go do some mundane trivial tasks like drop my granddaughter off at school and go to work.
soup, snuggling w/ warm fuzzy blankets, wearing a scarf around all day. I’m not getting enough sleep or drinking enough water though. I think they are the main contributers. Do you have any recommendations?
my power and gas will be cut off at 9am pst – long, painful story.
if anybody would help me out with this, i’d be super appreciative and i know nobody wants them per se, but i do have a bunch of precious moments figurines. even if you don’t know any avid collectors, they are great gifts for aunt mildred for whom you never know what to get. you’d have several years’ worth of random gifts at the ready, that’s for sure.
or if anybody actually does know a collector, email me for the list.
Hey Family Man, I thought I’d put up the cart so you could relax over your not-cup-of-coffee.
Morning Miss Andi!!!!!
I think skipping a meeting and spending some quality time with the Diva Dogs sounds like an excellent plan.
Thank you!!! I think tonight will be a quiet evening at home designing, blogging and planning interviews for future podcast. LOL
Good Morning Andi.

Too loud! You made the dogs cower.
Seems like nobody is up by thee and me.
You could go catch up on all the diaries you missed while you’re waiting for the world to wake up.
ROTFLMAO!!!! Mine moved to the other room.
I have read a few dairies and did a podcast response in support of a candidate on thier site. LOL I guess it is time for the “SSS” routine. I need to get to work. I will check in from work if I get a chance otherwise I will see you good folks tonight.
Heh. For a minute, I thought Arthur Gilroy was in the cafe…I need coffeee.
Good morning, all.
Woke up a while ago with the illusion that it was Saturday morning. Nice, lazy feeling until reality set in. Better get ready.
Morning!!!! I also have to get ready to get ready and get on the road for work. LOL
Terrible how it interferes with one’s daily life…
Grey and cloudy outside, yesterday we had a freak snow storm around lunch time.
Sorry about the snow. Spring is here in the midwest — I can tell because there are thunderstorm predictions and road construction has started.
I wish it was Saturday. I’ve got parent/teacher conferences today, so it will be a long day.
Well, I’m off to play teacher. Everyone have a great day
Bye TT
39 school days left in the year and 64 calendar days. I can’t wait for this year to be done!!!
The summer is the best…sleeping in, staying up later, hanging by the pool in the late afternoon…and no homework or school projects!
What are these other parents thinking? 😉
Jim’s in countdown mode too. This isn’t going to go down as one of his favorite years.

I’ve had that Saturday morning feeling every day this week…the time change kills me.
Good thing it’s a school vacation week next week. We can sleep in every day!
Morning CG.
I wish Jim’s school system would go back to having Spring vacation in April. Those 2-3 weeks make a big difference in the weather.
Yeah, I bet you would have missed the snow on your Utah trip if you were going next week.
Just checked the area where we went — the highs are in the mid-sixties.
The other thing that would have been helped is that we couldn’t do some trails because the roads to them were impassable even for 4WD due to deep mud caused by melting snow.
I hope you and the boys have great weather.
The forecast for next week is 50s-60s and sunny. That would be nice.
but it’s 4:30 in the morning here, so I’m going back to sleep for a couple of hours. So nyaaaaaah!
and got on the computer to make a comment in the cafe and you think that’s worth a nyah? Good thing you are going back to sleep because your analytical skills aren’t functionally properly. 🙂
No, actually I don’t think that comment is worth a “nyaaaaah.”
Sleeping and extra 2 1/2 hours while those of you on the East Coast had to be out of bed and doing stuff . . . now that is worth a nyaaaaaah.
😀

Oh, and good morning everyone.
It worked!
As a payback, I promise that I’ll always be there to get your back when you are going to thump Family Man.
But will it work with a mac?
to get the link so you can try it?
Do you have the link? I’ll try it this morning.
right here
Okay, I’m totally stupid…what do I do with it?
On the page where you see ROBO-RATER, right-click on it and select ‘Bookmark this link’ and make the bookmark.

If it has worked you will see your ratings.
Is something supposed to happen when I select the roborater link I made, before I do the nested/set thing?

I’m not changing it either because you deserve it — everybody knows good debuggers are gems of rarity and great value.
As for the mudpit — I think it’s excellent when you Canadians show your inner wild side.
Thanks for not pointing out that I can’t spell genius. How’s that for irony.
Also, I think the only debugging you want me doing is removing a certain photo from my blog. 😉
I just want it moved down the page.
I can’t read either. I’ll remedy it today. 🙂
It’s a twofer — spider moves down the page and I get a new picture to look at.

Happy snowy April! When will winter end?
Good morning everyone
How are you feeling today?
Fine, thanks for asking.
I’m going to throw up a new cafe around 10 or 10:30 this morning. If there is a problem let me know.
It there is any problem let me know.
and anyway, your cafe — your choice when to open.
Are you catching up w/ yourself yet — taking it easy and resting and all that?
Morning Olivia. How are you today?
Not feeling especially well — think I’m coming down w/ a fever or something. :/
I’m sorry to hear that. What home remedies have you tried?
soup, snuggling w/ warm fuzzy blankets, wearing a scarf around all day. I’m not getting enough sleep or drinking enough water though. I think they are the main contributers. Do you have any recommendations?
for the lucky ones today!
Why oh why do I do this? Oh yeah…paying bills!
Strange day ahead of me…back to back meetings starting soon…
I’ll drop 4’s shortly
my power and gas will be cut off at 9am pst – long, painful story.
