May the 4’s take you where you want to go.
are off for our walk but we wanted to leave you guys a nice clean cafe to trash.
I hope you and the puupies have a great walk!!!!
Just got up but there’s a brand new cafe, so I’ll do one later in the day if needed…now back to bed to watch the Sunday talk shows.
I am wearing my “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Equals Live a lie, Serve and Die” Designs and the rednecks in Round Rock are not amused. LOL
I do have so much fun playing with their little minds. I am nice and explain things to them in very simple terms if they ask.
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday so far.
Part of me wants to stand and cheer and the other part of me wants to go, “My god, man, be careful.” That second part really pisses me off. It shouldn’t be so dangerous for us to demand equality, but we know it is, and I know you’ll keep doing it — and good on ya, I will too — but please be careful. 🙂
Hey there RF and Indy… sounds like a great shirt you’re wearing! Hate to admit I have to agree w/the second part of Indy’s comment too, about being careful. In these crazy reactionary times, you never know when a wingnut with a weapon could pop out of the woodwork… but on the other hand, the MESSAGE needs to be hammered home for everyone, so thanks for being one of our foot soldiers, so to speak. Don’t you just love uniforms? Hmm, what does a foot soldier uniform look like? LOL.
Hope you got your oil changed and are having a good day. I’m here for my coffee, then it’s out to front to clean up the boulder bed!
A lot of people really don’t get how dangerous it is for us to just live our lives out loud. My best friend, before he died, used to wear this t-shirt around his neighborhood after he got bashed: I Bash Back. He was so damn brave.
He had a lot of good strategies for resistance and taught me a lot. He was +, and in the condo where he lived he had this bigoted neighbor who used to start signature campaigns to keep him out of the pool and such, among other nasty things. And I loved his response to it. He lived with his back door right onto the pool patio, so every time she walked by on the way to get her mail, no matter how badly he was feeling or if he’d just showered and done his hair, he’d sprint out onto the patio and, even if he was fully clothed, do a cannonball right into the middle of the pool. He was so awesome.
Meanwhile, I hate to post and run, but I have a ton of packing and cleaning to do today, so xoxox to the whole Cafe, and I hope everyone has a nice Sunday.
Ooo, I’m a Robo Rating Fool now that Omir has provided us with the tool to blanket 4s. I hope there are a dozen Cafes today so I can Robo Rate them all. I may go back and Robo Rate every cafe I ever missed. Kidding!
What’s the secret?
Hi, mm–
Go here: Omir’s site:
. . .and follow his instructions and you, too, can prevent carpal tunnel.
Thanks for the link, I gave it a try, but if I click on the red link I go to a page that says “Robo-Rater only works if you are in a Booman Tribune diary” or something like that, then returns me to the Robo-Rater page. Maybe it’s because I can’t “left click” since I have a laptop and no left clicking capability?
I got it to work on my mac [osx.2.8 in Safari 1.0.3] this morning…finally.
I had to copy the code at the bottom of Omir’s RotoRater™, and put it in the bookmark bar and viola.
Make sure JAVA is enabled…that, I think is part of the key…but I’m pretty much a tyro at this…took a lot of trial and error.
Also, ctrl clik is the same as rt.clik on a mac.
Leave a note in reply and I’ll do what I can to help…gotta be gone for a while, but I’ll check back
Good luck…it’s WAAAAAAAAAY Cool!
Peace
Actually you need JavaSCRIPT enabled, not Java. They’re too different things. Confusing, I know, but what can you do.
It’s been a very long time since I used Safari, so I don’t even know what options are available.
Works like a charm. Outstanding Omir! My carpal tunnel thanks you from the bottom of its achy little heart.
Firefox 1.0.4
Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.6
That’s ulnar tunnel in my case, and more than the ulnar tunnel, the tendonitis is the thing that’s happy about not having to manually supply all those fours. Apparently I’m still not getting enough sleep. In any case, many thanks.
Thanks dada and Omir the ST, for all your tips, much appreciated! I haven’t given up but want to give myself a break from the aggravation. For now, I am resigned to manual fouring. I feel it makes my 4s more extra special potent and valuable. LOL, but really BooMan might want to think of adding a special category for the cyber-challenged 4 giver.
Thanks, kansas — This is the coolest tool ever. And I’d have never known about it if not for you!
It should be a specially gift-wrapped package that we hand out to all newbies.
Well I suppose I could put together a tool that would Robo-rate the last ten cafes . . . but that just seems silly.
Lol! Why stop with the last 10?
You are a miracle worker.
Thank you so much.
Hi Omir, trying to use your new tool, but I just don’t get how it works, can you give me some pointers, my browser does support it, but not sure what I do to activate it….thanks and that’s a really cool tool.
I went to the website for the roborater, then down towards the bottom is the link for the roborater in red underlined in blue. I did a right click on that and chose bookmark.
OK, now that link is in bookmarks. When you are in a BT diary go to your bookmarks and click on the link you just saved for the roborater.
Sit back and relax for a few seconds while it does the rating. bte I’m on Firefox, but it seems almost everyone is having good luck with it now.
Thanks so much NDD, that is so cool, wowee…Boy sure could have used that during the influx days with all the Tell us Diaries…
It Works in Safari! What a treat.
Omir, you da man!
Peace
Welcome to the fourgasmatronic club dada!
Yes! is right…4nikatorin’ in the pond…Ahhhhh.
Need a smoke now…:{)
Just get up?
Peace
Do you smoke? Talk about leaving a nasty aftertaste and being bad for you — I’ll take my chocolate thanks. ;P
I’ve been up since 11. Gotta get back on track here.
although I used to…still do a little if I’m around certain people.
Peace
…about the chocolate. You did expect incoming at the time — I’m just a little late. 😉
As for vices, chacun a son goût.
No wonder no one asked about my comment the other night about “ceci n’est pas un abat-jour,” LOL! (That means “This is not a lampshade,” and you know where I pillaged the original from!)
To each his own. 🙂
I just tried it, but all I got was a patient frog for about a minute, no ratings:(
What browser are you using, it works on Opera browser, try the testing and a block will come up and tell you if your’s supports this.
Explorer. I tried the tesy and it worked.
I don’t think it works yet for IE. I use Firefox and it works, but I wanted to test it in IE yesterday. I had what you had: it just sits there on the frog window. What’s supposed to happen is it sends you back to the BT page where all the comments are 4ed.
IE has very iffy support for Javascript, so I can’t guarantee that it will work there. I can try it out tomorrow when I’m at work and forced to use IE, but when I’m at home I don’t touch IE unless I’m doing something that is vitally important and requires IE for some stupid reason (like checking my wife’s payroll).
You can try going to the Robo-Rater page, coping the code at the bottom of the page (below the Robo-Rater link, the code that starts with “javascript:”) and seeing if you can run the code from the command line.
Sorry, there are some things even us script jockey code wizards can’t do.
You are still the man of the FBC and hey, maybe it’ll convince everyone to switch. :~)
It’s high tide at 8:47, so I’m going for a walk along the coast with my camera, be back in a bit!
Morning!!!!
As our gardening friend Frank (the one I wrote about last night) always says, “The only thing better than red if MORE red!” And that looks like a gorgeous patch of flowers you had there. Are those seascape daisies? I thought they were cosmos as first, but too many petals for that…
Hope your day is going swimmingly, so to speak.
Thanks, IVG! Here’s where I was today!
I’m not sure what kind of flowers they are, I went walking around the neighborhood taking photos of other people’s flowers, without trespassing, of course!
I had to leave McDonalds as a family of 25 arrived with multiple rug rats of all ages. I am now sitting at the counter in Firestone watching then change the oil in my car. LOL
At the Park for us today is Pacific Bell — no, wait, SBC — no, that was last year — AT&T Park to see the Giants and the Braves. Smoltz vs. Schmidt. ej, I’ll give you a full report.
Is this football or golf? LOL
Telephone tag.
Sounds like fun. LOL
What a great picture at the cafe entrance. Is Andi here? Where was she when she took that shot?
We were hiking in Zion National Park.
How are you doing today?
We’re great. Just itching to take a nice long walk around the neighborhood, after errands, of course.
So I take it you are having a pretty day.
I like fall and winter but I am really primed for it to get green.
Okay, I admit it, there’s not much but I’m happy to see all harbingers of spring: wonderfully soft new moss, new pine needles, and best of all some leaf buds starting to open.
I love these spring photos. Every day we get a bit closer… I want to know if you have a larger size of the pine needles that you put up the other day. This one. I’d love to have it as wallpaper!
I can make a wallpaper version for you and email it. What size do you want?
As a trade, would you mind if I got a copy of the orange rose on the website (the lower left one). I’d like to use it for some cafes.
Hmm … size: how about similar to the large size of the riverbed (this one). I have that up now as my wallpaper and it leaves a nice black border for framing.
What size do you want for the rose?
Happy Sunday, Olivia! Hope all is going well up your way, and wasn’t the fun basically closing down the late night lounge last night? I’m still a big foggy, thus my coffee here and then off to work in the yard.
I’m going to take pics today, at Mary’s request, so I should have some ready for the evening cafe/lounge after I get my work done. I’m also going to dig up some more pink for you, hehe.
That was fun — crazy — but fun. I’m doing the same w/ the coffee right now.
I will look forward to tonight’s café and your photos (especially the pink ones ;).
Happy gardening!
One thing about the bigger size of the pine needles — it was really windy when I took and at the bigger size the movement of the pine needles and branch are blurry. Anyway, I’ll email it to in just a few.
I just clicked on the rose at your website and got it. I’ll have to scale it down a little for the cafe but it will be gorgeous.
small is 240×180?
No it’s fine. I scaled it down to 450×338. That’ll work fine in a diary.
You (and IVG) have to listen to this story on NPR’s Sunday Edition — it’s a talking blues gardening song. It’s wonderful.
I can’t get it to work right now, but have bookmarked it so I can go back and troubleshoot… I think it may be my firewall interfering, but it sounds like a fun song! Weird, because I have listened to clips on NPR many times and have never had that problem…
That’s weird because the link is just to the page that has the ‘listen’ icon on it — I didn’t put the link to the audio because the link let’s you pick either windows media player or real audio.
That was great! I love how she sings that everyone locks their doors b/c of her zucchini. I just bought my seeds (3 pkgs) yesterday so good thing you guys don’t live nearby lol. 😉
I guess I better get some stuff done today. I’ll see you all later.
Ristreto Coffee & Tea
The sun is shining temp about 50F, time for some fresh air, but a caramel roll with nuts for brunch?
Wish they at least had some bagels, lox, and Larrupin sauce, used to have that whilst living in N CA.
(Guess I’ll have to order some now that I’ve found a distributor. – remember- Google is my friend, repeat)
oh, invisible virtual FBC waiter!
They don’t work well as cut flowers, but as virtual ones, they last forever! And better than those so-called “silk” flowers… LOL.
I love hostas. Without them my yard would be totally barren because they’re the only thing I can’t kill. But the slugs enjoy munching on them. <insert slug sex joke here>
And the pansies are pretty, though in a few weeks they’ll die of heatstroke.
That top one took my breath away! That is gorgeous! I love it!
Those hosta leaves grow to be huge! But they’re so much more interesting when they’re first coming out of the ground and uncurling.
Holy cow, SN! These are gorgeous! You’ve got an incredible eye.
Thanks so much for posting them!
Hi, everyone. Hope you’re all seeing the type of stunning weather we’ve got here. It’s an outdoor cafe’ day! The sky couldn’t be bluer or the new grass warmer. It’s a truly heavenly day.
Here too. It’s one of those crystal clear days when the temperature is perfect and there aren’t any bugs out yet.
I’m glad you’re finally getting some lovely weather. We’ve had several nice days here (interspersed with thunderstorms) and I’ve even been out walking in just a t-shirt a couple of times.
Wow! I’d say that’s nice weather indeed. It’s not quite that warm here yet, but I’m down to two layers outside — with bare feet, since the earth is so warm.
Snow predicted for this weekend didn’t materialize, plus the snowbirds & downstate ‘second homers’ are starting to return, so I guess this is it. We could still see snow, but it’s more unlikely each day.
This is the type of weather I really like — sunny, near 60. The August 80s are a bit much for me & I start droopin’. I’m pretty well acclimated to cold weather now.
Ok, have to say a quick hi to ya, WW before I run off… I think our chances of snow are pretty much gone now, but you never know. I remember when I first moved back to IA in 94, and it snowed on the first day of May! Didn’t last long, but was a shocker when I got up that day. LOL
Hey there, IVG! Thanks for the greeting.
Frankly, I think the weather will grow increasingly weird for as long as global warming persists. Pretty soon now May snowfall won’t seem like such an anomaly.
But for now, bless the springtime!
Neglected to express thanks & amazement for your trip photos like the one above. Astounding! Thanks for posting them. What an incredible world this is ..
It’s quite literally our pleasure — we really enjoy sharing these photos and the places where we took them with other people.
Hey there SN! Fantastic hosta pic there! And that’s a big thing from me, since we banished the hostas that were in our yard when we moved in… we didn’t kill them, just dug them up and gave them to a neighbor and used their space for Ostrich plume ferns instead, something we do love.
Ah, and the pansies and violas … reminds me that last night, as we were turning into the driveway, Chris spotted something yellow on the sidewalk. He went and picked it up, and it was a perfect, unwilted yellow viola plant, apparently just plucked from someone’s garden. The rootball was intact (no roots severed) so we just quick popped in a spot in our front bed to rescue it. All I could figure was some kid pulled it out of someone’s yard, then dropped it. We do have a bit of a kid problem around here, with yanking flowers or pulling the heads off tulips and scattering the petals along the walk. One year I had about 20 gorgeous tulips that were in full bloom when I went to work in the morning, and gone when I got home. A neighbor told me he saw a little girl with a pair of scissors harvesting them … but of course he didn’t say a word to her. Grrr… fortunately that seems to be happening less these days, but it can be a bit of a problem.
I remember picking flowers for my mom before I realized it was wrong. I just wanted her to smile.
Yeah, I was guilty of that too, but we’re really generous when kids ask if they can have some for mom, and we always give them some (except the kid who wanted a whole blooming Lupine plant! LOL). We just keep planting more, figuring we’ll lose a few to the kids, but 20 at once just really honked me off LOL.
Hey forgot to ask if you’ve tried the saucer of beer trick for getting slugs? We don’t have that problem, but I’ve read numerous places that if you put a shallow saucer of warm beer near the plants they’re munching on, they will be attracted to it, fall in and drown. Not sure if it works, but many people seem to believe it does. FWIW
I love the patterns in the top picture. And it sooooo green and lovely that I’m going to bypass the slug sex jokes.
I’ll try and get a good slimy shot of them mating some evening soon.
I’m off to see one of my families. Two of the siblings had birthdays recently and I’m bringing them presents. For Grandma, I’m going to try to convince her that I bought way too much stew meat and don’t have room in the freezer.
See you all later. 🙂
To me, those patterns are like a green version of your red “waves,” Andi.
WOW!
I have to hang the comforter I just washed outside, and put some more laundry in and then tackle the clean up! It’s sunny, in the mid 50’s here and quite gorgeous outside, so you folks enjoy the virtual park while I’m out playing Mr. Nature for a while. LOL.
Will catch up with you all later with some fresh pics.
here ya know!
