In the Celtic Pagan tradition, the Moon is the symbol of the Goddess. Monday or “Moon’s Day”, governs the emotions, wildlife, and the life giving waters. This day honors the Goddess, the moon cycles, the tides, and our feelings. It can be a day of creativity, imagination, a day of psychic awareness.
I like working on that framing issue. Besides it’s sunny, although cold. This is some of the first serious sunshine we’ve had in weeks!

Just went and read the web-site, forgive me for not doing a more thorough job.
Finkel (the MSOC guy) won one for explanatory reporting on Yemen and democracy.
Dana Priest won for secret renditions
Risen and (blank) for reporting on the wiretapping issue.
Times-Picayune NOLA won along with Biloxi Sun (Birmingham) for Katrina–they won gold medals for humanitarian coverage.
But the one I am most excited about is Caroline Elkins who won the pulitzer for general non-fiction for her book Imperial Reckonings–The Gulags in Kenya.
Its an absolutely brilliant book and the description of the gulags is eerily similar to what happened in Abu Ghraib. Well, imperial reckonings come too late….
I’m making a fancy meal for the family, which makes me numero uno in the house for the night, and I just paid my taxes with a happy dance- because I am SOOOOO glad for things like libraries and the school my daughter goes to. I love having schools. (I am selectively editing out military $. Why? Because I’m finding that mental edit/delete button helps me make it through the day.)
On the other hand, I live in a nation of a moral abyss so deep that the seventh level of hell is a major improvement.
Ayup. Time to water the strawberries.
Scott McClellan was asked earlier whether he had plans to leave in the upcoming shakeup. He answered “I don’t speculate about personal matters”, as if the job that supposedly consumes 16-20 hours of each day is a personal issue. Whatever happened to saying “no comment” to questions you don’t want to answer?
As for the Mondays, I have 4 nursing cats at home that ignore their kittens and hover around me whenever I’m there, so I am trying to spend more time at grandma’s house. Finding stuff to do here other than the internet is hard.
Ex-Governor of Illinois, George Ryan, found guilty on all 22 counts in his corruption trial. Let’s hope Patrick Fitzgerald does as well with Libby.
Actually, Ryan’s conviction is kind of bittersweet. Although he was corrupt as can be, he did some good things for the state, not to mention his ban on the death penalty. Still, if you do the crime …

Today’s Rasmussen numbers on Chimp: 60% disapprove, 39% approve. Of the 39 – only 19% strongly approve, 20% somewhat.
Wow. 19%! Looking more like numbers on a booze label – in the light category. Jack Daniels reads 40% alc/vol. My fav label reads 43 alc/vol.
Pal Blair cancelled. Huffpost has exclusive they’re hearing Blair doesn’t want to be photographed with Bush. We call that being radioactive. Forgive me the pun.
But I’m waiting for lower numbers. Bolten or Humpty or Halliburton won’t stop the spiral. There are too many internal conflicts, itchy campers looking over their shoulders. Are we keeping Rummy, Snow. What’s Fitz up to?

They did the same kind of tests before Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they just want to make sure everything is working like it should, and will produce the desired result when deployed in Iran.
I hope that you are being sarcastic cause otherwise-
A- it is not, I repeat NOT a nuke!
B- There is nothing routine when you are using 700 tons of explosives!
C- I will give ya a hint- the assholes are trying to see just how big a nuke they will need in Iran and they are trying to slip just one more thing past us morons!

Of course if the politicians and their devotees work really hard, perhaps they can persuade the warlords to effect the invasion and occupation of Iran via bombing them with conventional 700 ton bombs.
That would be a great victory for the Democrats, and help create support for Operation Iranian Freedom even among the fringe who oppose it because they do not believe that Iran really disobeyed America, therefore it is not imperative to bomb Tehran and besides, US should concentrate first on getting the job done in Iraq. Oh and Afghanistan. Both of those still have insurgencies to be crushed and hotbeds of anti-American sentiment to be stamped out.
