From Raw Story:
Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) today introduced an amendment demanding redeployment of U.S. troops currently in Iraq by the end of 2006, RAW STORY has learned.
The amendment is attached to an emergency supplemental appropriations bill currently being considered to fund ongoing military operations in Iraq.
This is the third time Feingold has introduced or taken part in writing legislation requesting a troop drawback. In June of 2005, Feingold introduced a resolution calling for a “flexible timetable” for an Iraq withdrawal. In November, 40 Senators voted in support of a similar amendment.
that’s sweet. I hope our soldiers appreciate what Russ is trying to do.
My question is that if Russ runs in 08, why would anyone NOT vote for him? If we could only get the rest of the dems behind him now huh?
Because he’s unelectable … at least, according to the people who don’t want him to be elected.
(I swear, one of these days someone is going to call a candidate “unelectable” in my presence and I’m going to respond by calling them “head-smack-able” … and then give them an immediate demonstration of a self-fulfilling prophecy.)
That he can’t stay married?
Some guys very well shouldn’t be. And reading about his marital and extra-marital Sturm und Drang, why should I hold him over the coals for something inconsequential and none of my fucking business?
That he’s the anti-war favorite?
So what? I don’t see anyone else standing up with stones who is not backing down.
Period.
No what scares the powers that be inside the Dem party is he is VERY electablebut will not be a puppet for anyone of these bastards.
Go, Russ!
just restating the agreement:
UNSCR 1546 called for termination of the mandate on 31 Dec ’05, extended by request of the Iraqis. Feingold is to be commended for conforming his timetable to pre-existing international law.
Nothing makes me happier than being in the middle of a Russ-love fest!
I agree with you all here. He is more than my hero. I hope he will be my next president. I think the man has a lot more on the ball than many in the congress has of today. I think he is a man who thinks things through to the fullest…. and a person who does what is right for any situation. He knows the law and abides by it too. He is for the people!!!! by and far that is the best thing ever to determine what a man has in his heart. I feel he is honest and forthright. I could go on and on with attributes I see in him. So there you have it. He is my man for the next occupant of the White House…our house.
PS: however I do think that when we leave we need to leave totally, not leave any behind. It is inviting total bedlam and murder of our troops. I do not believe in the massive embassy either. The permanent bases are wrong…
Total Russ supporter here! waving
So much so, I started a Russ site to show we in Pennsylvania support him. It’s kind of a thing – a site in every state. If anyone is interested, go to http://www.pa4russ.blogspot.com and get info.
I’m supporting him all the way, run Russ run!!!
Time is ripe for an honest president.
Thanks for the link. It is great….I bookmarked it to have it handy. hugs….
Feingold so far has been Heroic as far as I am concerned. What is up with Paul Waldman’s posting at The Gadflyer???
“Feingold Ditches Straight Talk” I was shocked at
Waldmans tone throughout. Can somone explain this?
Somewhat reluctantly, yes

WHat a load of crap. I saw Russ on MTP and he was asked at the end of the interview by Timmy id he was running in 08. To paraphrase cause I don’t have the transcript in front of me, russ said, he hadn’t ruled that out but he would give up running in a heartbeat beause the resolution to censure Bush was more important. Love Russ soooooooooo much.
Waldman can be kinda a moron about this sort of stuff. The whole point of a move like Russ’ is to get people on the record, to make a stand one way or another. Plainly he’s frustrated that his party continues to cower and hide from really fighting for the people, and he put them on the spot. That’s … called … politics. Reid does it to the progressives in the caucus all the fucking time. The cowards in the rest of the party should be called on it often (and kudos to Sen. Wyden today for doing much the same thing. Once again, Reid failed).
Screw Waldman.
