Um, so you haven’t heard about the wedding he didn’t get to go to? Oh man, that was the late night story on Saturday (actually went waaay into the wee hours).
Hey Mary! Glad to hear you finally dispensed with the annoying Chicago woman. That alone is worthy of a celebration! Now if I could just rid myself of these never-ending reports I’m writing and revising…
At this point it’s finishing, then presenting tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully things will calm down for the rest of the week… the past 2 1/2 weeks have been way too busy for my tastes!
Well fleeing the office now… hope to pop back in later. Drink em up and move em out!
Line me up some beers! It’s already been a hellacious start to the week! Hoping it calms down soon… it’s been interfering too much with my slacking lessons.
Had to have it cut this short to fix the ugly ass haircut. I like it this way. It gets all flipped out and stuff but then… so do I. And I don’t have to do a thing to it. More time to fuck around.
I know pink is hated.. but I’ve grown very fond of it 🙂 Even Magenta LOL Was wicked cool they had a SJ Sharks shirt.
And CaliScribe sent us today some Cheechoo whistles for the kids, playoff pins, a cool fridge magnet that says, “If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun” and a pink bucket of almond roca.
I don’t know why I made out so big! I opened it up in front of Mr. Javaman… he digs the fact I get off on hockey 🙂
I like the top photo… it reminds me of my old safe, before depression and stress. My hockey friends used to say I “glowed”. I lost that glimmer for a long time.
I think Portland looks good on me 🙂
Hell, just the weight I’ve lost since moving… has been healthy. And my hair doesn’t suck ass as much LOL.
Just wish I could get back to hiking with the family.
I like wispiness of it. Extra fine hair and this cut seems to work 🙂 after all these years. When I first moved here I had that terrible haircut from hell. So took a real lemon and made lemonade. Never had my hair this short but… I like it. … I think ACK…
Anyways, after escrow stress goes, I’m going to do the hearing tests. I’m sorta procrastinating, sorta scared ya know. I’ve noticed a major change in my hearing. The bells, the bells, Esmerelda LOL. And my dizzy spells. But I can walk along the beach.. but that’s not “hiking” and I dont want to be a burden to the “athletes” in my family.
You’re thinking about the hiking all wrong — you’ll be doing them a favor because you’ll slow them down and that way they’ll really pay attention to everything around them and get so much more pleasure from the hike.
Was hoping you’d have it for Game 5, but at least you’ve got it for Round 2. 🙂
Heading down to the Tank early Wednesday morning to try my luck at scoring Round 2 tickets…maybe by then we’ll know who we’re playing (I think it’s still no score in the EDM-DET game).
And saw the magnet when I was anniversary card shopping and immediately thought of you! Almost got myself one that says, “Whenever I find Mr. Right, my husband scares him off”… lol
Oops, carrots are done — got to get them out of the microwave and start the rice; we’re actually eating healthy tonight around here! Who knew???
Thank you so so so much Cali!!!! Wesley has been tootin his whistle and driving Danni NVTS 🙂 But he has to do it while plugging his own ears. LOL
Mrs. Ski said she saw you – you BOTH were buying stuff for me. I love the magnet!!! Wayne came home for lunch so saw all the stuff and he said that you must know me very well to get that magent for me ROFL 🙂
Oooh Wes has the Edmonton game on – he’s finally put the whistle away. 🙂
Dammit, SK, I should have asked you a question here instead of mucking up your excellent diary: What do you think of MPAS, that quasi-gov. protection/advocacy org?
It is not listed on the Freep or Detroit News website. I looked in vain earlier today, in order to – wait, no, I just found it on the MPAS website: http://www.mpas.org/jobposting.asp
Your writing is so good, I think it could outweigh other factors. ..
Will give it a shot, but I have had differences of opinion w/MPAS in the past, so it is more going through the motions on my part–if you know what I mean. But thanks!
Yes, I do know what you mean. Have had my own battles with an advocacy group or two that were at least “less than diligent” in pursuing their stated interests. . .
When we first came to Michigan, there was a columnist, I think in the Free Press (but it could have been the DetNews), that wrote regularly on issues concerning health care, disabilities, patient advocacy, etc. As I recall she died, and the column ended. You would be so outstanding doing that!
Thanks for the reminder. Hey, any luck? Next meeting I’m going to ask several of the women for some info/ideas for you. I’m finding that I don’t know this area as well for the things you are looking for. But we won’t give up. 🙂
It is? Cool. Unfortunately I’ll be where I can’t pick up the game tonight (family dinner), but I’m looking forward to the Canes-Habs game on Tuesday.
Then maybe I’ll be a Sharks fan after the Canes win the series. I have to warn you, though, it’s a dangerous thing. My teams pretty much never win. For that reason maybe I’ll just root for whoever the Sharks are playing.
But then if I do that just because I want your Sharks to win, it probably won’t work. Oh, what to do, what to do, what to do.
well, I know I’ve run out of the room screaming after catching a glipse of myself in the mirror after a long night of burning the midnight oil, so I don’t see why he should be immune… 😉
I’ve been playing! I set up the camera on the tripod, set the aper., focused in really close, and used the self-timer so that I didn’t jiggle at all! It’s so cool!
Flowers … I’m trying to remember all the things I’ve learned this week. It seems like when I learn something new, I can’t remember the older stuff LOL.
I’m uploading now — if you can’t wait (b/c bed) they’ll be up tomorrow!
I’ll do the wide angle the next sunny day — it’s supposed to ran tomorrow afternoon, and I didn’t get home until after the sun had dipped down behind the hedge.
to know what flowers you photographing that you needed the tripod and the timed release for but I guess if I can stay up long enough, I’ll find out. 🙂
I think it’s a Wolf Spider. The females carry their babies around after they hatch. When you see one it looks like their skin is alive because all the little spiders are crawling around all over mom.
Yuuuuck! We have wolf spiders in the yard that are much bigger than this guy. Maybe he’s a baby, which somehow makes me wonder if there are a thousand more like him under the floorboards or something.
Alright already! What’ll ya have?
Napping with Family Man again? uh huh …
I’ll nap with anyone these days. What’s up with FM, does he have a migraine?
I don’t know. I don’t think I saw him all day Saturday because of the wedding. And he wasn’t around last night when I was around.
Um, so you haven’t heard about the wedding he didn’t get to go to? Oh man, that was the late night story on Saturday (actually went waaay into the wee hours).
I left at midnight. When did he show up Saturday night?
I think Olivia, NDD, dada and I finally left around 6:00 a.m.! FM was still there doing the breakfast cart at that point.
Hey Mary! Glad to hear you finally dispensed with the annoying Chicago woman. That alone is worthy of a celebration! Now if I could just rid myself of these never-ending reports I’m writing and revising…
I wish you luck with them. Finishing them and/or filing them appropriately 🙂
At this point it’s finishing, then presenting tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully things will calm down for the rest of the week… the past 2 1/2 weeks have been way too busy for my tastes!
Well fleeing the office now… hope to pop back in later. Drink em up and move em out!
that if we have a lounge that gets too boring, I’ll just post that turtles picture to liven things up. Whatcha think?
Maybe you should just link to it for more sensitive viewers.
What fun would that be?
I was joking, but I’m not very funny today. Of course we don’t HAVE any sensitive readers, so I think you should go ahead and post it…big!
And posting it would be a really good way to find out if we do have any sensitive readers.
I’m thinking for maximum effect, I should save it for a Sunday cafe.
I don’t think even those particular turtles could wake up a Sunday cafe. And it is the lord’s day.
Line me up some beers! It’s already been a hellacious start to the week! Hoping it calms down soon… it’s been interfering too much with my slacking lessons.
I’m heading home early tonight, catch you all at the late(r) night.
I have THE shirt to wear to the Senators office now 🙂 My friend from San Jose sent this to me today. WOW!
I’d say it’s HOT!
LOL
Had to have it cut this short to fix the ugly ass haircut. I like it this way. It gets all flipped out and stuff but then… so do I. And I don’t have to do a thing to it. More time to fuck around.
You look just like Danni that way.
Just wait till you see her after her hair is cut. Old people stop us in the stores all the time to say “she must be your girl!” 🙂
The shower curtain.. Danni picked it out 🙂
My daughter is beautiful – looks nothing like me. I’ve always thought they switched her in the hospital.
they cannot withstand such magnificent splendor!
I know pink is hated.. but I’ve grown very fond of it 🙂 Even Magenta LOL Was wicked cool they had a SJ Sharks shirt.

I don’t know why I made out so big! I opened it up in front of Mr. Javaman… he digs the fact I get off on hockey 🙂
and not in a cocktail glass, I’m fine.
(((((((((((Andi)))))))))))))
I like the top photo… it reminds me of my old safe, before depression and stress. My hockey friends used to say I “glowed”. I lost that glimmer for a long time.
I think Portland looks good on me 🙂
Hell, just the weight I’ve lost since moving… has been healthy. And my hair doesn’t suck ass as much LOL.

You’re beautiful DJ! :*
Don’t make me blush LOL… it’s the hockey glow 🙂
It’s JOE!!!! Thornton! 🙂
Gawd I got myself a maple bar due to this mornings talk.. and I couldnt eat it all. Just about gave me the shakes. ACK.
is exactly how I picture you — glowing, beautiful, smiling, wonderful!!!
I had pancakes w/ Mennonite maple syrup last night for dinner. Never heard of maple bars before… 🙂
Watching Edmonton v Detroit as well.
I tried to eat one today… and I couldn’t finish it off. I guess that’s good news eh?
Yup got the game on 🙂 Go OILERS!!!
I imagine it is filled w/ cream? 🙂
Oilers not looking so hot — they only had one shot on net during this pd they were saying …
that would be an eclair. 🙂 My second favorite don… doughnut 🙂 or pastry.
(do I sound like billy crystal?) and Portland looks all the better for your being there.
I hope you can get back to hiking too — there are so many great places around Portland.
Hair looks fine to me but then my only criteria for a haircut is that it should stay out of my face and not expect me to do anything with it.
I like wispiness of it. Extra fine hair and this cut seems to work 🙂 after all these years. When I first moved here I had that terrible haircut from hell. So took a real lemon and made lemonade. Never had my hair this short but… I like it. … I think ACK…

some earplugs…us kid sisters have got to stick together… 😉
Hopefully they’ll both do a lot of blowing for Game 1 of the next round… 🙂
(Still 1-0 DET; let’s get going, Oil…)
GO CRUDE!!! Detroit keeps getting crazy bounces.. and keep hititng the pipes. They’re playing desperate.
The whistles are okay 🙂 He put them away himself. Gotta save em for the sharks 🙂
DJ – you have my exact same shower curtain! I knew I loved your taste.
See you in a coupla hours!
Kitty is only pawn in game of life.
Took this one Saturday. Board games and Stanley Cup Playoff hockey on the tube… can’t get better than that for a Saturday afternoon.
Kitties do love boxes. I have to find the pic of my 18 lb cat stuffed into a shoebox. Too funny.
Yeah, she’ll actually try to cram her furry ass into a kleenex box.
Sacks and boxes. She’s an addict.
Spitting image of mine!
Dammit, SK, I should have asked you a question here instead of mucking up your excellent diary: What do you think of MPAS, that quasi-gov. protection/advocacy org?
Not much.
They advertised a job this Sunday for an advocate – in their Livonia office. Because they want a writing sample, I thought about you.
Do you have a link? I missed it.
It is not listed on the Freep or Detroit News website. I looked in vain earlier today, in order to – wait, no, I just found it on the MPAS website:

Understatement of the year!
Thanks for the other suggestion.
Just wrote this one: Medicare D(isaster): Shocking Penatly Info and Activism
And stopped in to say hi!
Hey – working hard again, I see.
There is alot going on about this and I am BUSY!!!
Thanks for the reminder. Hey, any luck? Next meeting I’m going to ask several of the women for some info/ideas for you. I’m finding that I don’t know this area as well for the things you are looking for. But we won’t give up. 🙂
That is good to hear.
Is it Friday yet?
No.
It’s edMONDAYton versus detroit 😀
It is? Cool. Unfortunately I’ll be where I can’t pick up the game tonight (family dinner), but I’m looking forward to the Canes-Habs game on Tuesday.

Have you ever thought of becoming a Calgary fan? 🙂
No, I can’t go there.
I’ll hold your hand and we can go together 🙂
got red hair and green eyes?…:{)
you need to meet my sister …
American, but she got the red hair and green eyes. We all got the freckles.
tempestuous…however. My x was Irish, 3rd. Gen…no red hair, but had the freckles, green eyes and temperment…:{)
See what I have to contend with?
Based on where he is, your pootie is obviously looking for the escape key. That, or it’s thinking, “I know there’s a mouse out there somewhere.”
just too cute.
How purrfect that you had the camera handy.
I got a card reader from Tiger Direct for $12 so my camera woes are taken care of. Hence I could bless you with my spider picture.
PS – could you send your skink over to eat my spider?
I think your spider is bigger than my skink.
Buhahahahahahaha!!!! That is too damn funny!!! 🙂
I don’t suppose anyone wants to take a bath at my house after this guy is done.
View scary big!!
to warn Manny that there are spiders in here!
I don’t think we can legitimately call this thing a spider – it was less than a half-inch long.
I’d like to surprise Manny and hear him scream like a girl.
It’s a spider. The small ones are just quicker is all. ACCCKKKK
I object! Poor Manny. Why would you be so mean to him? And scare him away from the cafe? Mean, SN. Just mean.
I’m shocked.
Maybe if I Photoshop him and make a Spidertini out of him it will be okay? Maybe have him smoking a hookah?
thank you for letting me know I need a warning label for poor Manny now.
<sulking>
Eeeeeewwww (looks up). creepy spider. is it still in the tub?
Manny makes an exception for you. After all, I’ve never seen him scream like a girl when you show up and say “hi”.
But I’ve never really paid attention. It might make an interesting experiment. 🙂
well, I know I’ve run out of the room screaming after catching a glipse of myself in the mirror after a long night of burning the midnight oil, so I don’t see why he should be immune… 😉
This was in your bathtub!!! It has hair!!!
(Did you get your camera-to-computer working?)
I’m really impressed by how clean my bathtub looks! Apparently the macro feature can catch little critters between mildew spots and stray hairs.
🙂
Did you have to use macro for that thing — seriously, how big would you say it is?
About as big as the word about. And I did use the macro setting and was shocked by how hairy and scary looking it was when I uploaded it!
of the vicious monsters you put up at your site.
on her camera? LOL.
I’ve been playing! I set up the camera on the tripod, set the aper., focused in really close, and used the self-timer so that I didn’t jiggle at all! It’s so cool!
And how soon do I get the wide angle of the garden?
Flowers … I’m trying to remember all the things I’ve learned this week. It seems like when I learn something new, I can’t remember the older stuff LOL.

ACKKKK Heebie Jeebies to the max! That photo has me itching and twitching.
I think it’s a Wolf Spider. The females carry their babies around after they hatch. When you see one it looks like their skin is alive because all the little spiders are crawling around all over mom.
O.M.G.!!!!
that made my entire head itch!!! CREEP OUT!!
Yuuuuck! We have wolf spiders in the yard that are much bigger than this guy. Maybe he’s a baby, which somehow makes me wonder if there are a thousand more like him under the floorboards or something.
Don’t think that! That’s horrifying to even think about!
Don’t worry, Olivia – the enormous palmetto bugs will eat them.
Got a pic of one of those — I’m not sure what they look like, but if they eat hairy spiders … 🙂
Thanks for that very vivid description. <shudder> 😉
he’s addicted to teaching. This was just another teachable moment.
eeeeewwww. Who was in charge of cleaning the cafe bathroom. There’s BIG BLACK SPIDERS in it. <shudder>
and by the way, Hi, I’m back.
Whew – thanks! Now I can open the all-night lounge and go take that bath.
new lounge open
