No, I’ll probably still be out shopping on Fitzmas Eve.
well, what do you want for Fitzmas?
Indictments. Preferably one with Mr.Roves’s name on it.
you need to shoot higher, like for the face.
New eyebrows for CBtY.
Where are the old ones?
Lol!! :o)
A detailed explanation is available in the lounge…
Oi, oi, oi.
It’s a near belly laugh here now – sorry.
I lost my eyebrows as well at around that age (13). In a stunt much worse. Posted the story many moons ago in a diary about our most stupid acts.
May as well repeat it, for your comfort:
A friend had visited his grandfather’s farm over Easter. He found some black powder in a room in the barn and obviously took a couple of rolls (similar to a thick coin roll). Stupid young men like to blow up stuff – and we decided to do just that up in the forest right behind where we grew up.
For fuses, we had short pieces of thin cotton rope dipped in kerosene. Hm, fuse did not work. My friend had the brilliant idea; ‘let’s light it directly with a match!’ I was just as brilliant, and had no objection.
WOOSH! What a flash!
Luckily, there were still patches of snow on the ground for immediate first aid. Great new hairdos and now without brows and laces. Did not dare go home for quite some time, but came to the conclusion some time late in the evening that nothing would grow back that day.
Well . . . so . . . how’s the pup?
Shit. Just read the other open thread. Never mind . . . .
he did eat his dinner, but declined a walk. So, good and bad.
I’m so sorry, Booman.
thanks Katie. He’s resting. I just cut out some clumpies from his rear end that he is usually too ‘anal’ to let me groom. One advantage of a listless newf…
I’ll take silver linings wherever I can find them.
It shows how much he trusts you and is counting on you. And loves you.
I bet they don’t often get called that.
It’s good that he ate, at least.
he just started wretching, but so far he has held his dinner down. Poor boy is very sick. This is gonna take a huge chunk out of me.
Lord Byron wrote a poem for the tombstone of his newf. Here it is.
I’m so feeling this with you Booman. I just went through a “near miss” with my pal Libby a couple of months ago. She made it and is doing fine. But it almost killed me. Nothing like the love of a great dog. Hang in there.
he just threw up. Not a lot. Just a little. This is so sad.
Oh shit Martin. I am so sad. My companion of 16 years passed on just two months ago and it damn near broke my heart. I still miss her and probably always will.
My thoughts are to you and Boo and I hope he pulls through.
Though I don’t know the details, I’m tearing up and about to cry as I write this. And though I don’t know you or Booman dog personally, I can really feel for what you’re going through right now. I say this most sincerely, and hope you believe me.
When Coco was “winding down” as my vet put it, it was one of the most painful experiences of my life, as I felt I was not only losing a faithful friend, but a child, my best companion, as well. But perhaps there are things that can be done to ease any pain he may have, should it be that close to the end. I’m hoping for a happier conclusion to this time for you, but just in case, you know, and Booman knows, just how much each of you mean to each other, and spending the time you both need together will make the difference for both of you.
There is nothing truly comforting that can be said at a time like this, so just take it one day at a time, and cherish the days you have together. Don’t go writing the epitaph yet, my friend! But if it’s time, he will know… my dearest Coco knew her time and went peacefully in her favorite chair, though we had made arrangements for “otherwise” should that have been necessary. I truly hope for better news soon. And though I’m not a praying man, I will think very positive thoughts for you and Booman tonight as I go to bed.
That is totally beautiful, Booman!
I met Markos today. There was a breakfast here in town for their book tour. Jerome was supposed to be there – but he was awol. About 30-40 people were there, including our state whistleblowing champion Colleen Rowley, and some old faces from the Dean campaign. That brought back some really great memories for me.
Markos was interesting to listen to. I do think he has some wonderful ideas and perspective. But, like any human being, has a limited ability to see outside some of his own biases. I enjoyed it and thought it was worth getting up at the crack of dawn for.
that’s cool. Too bad you didn’t get a chance to meet Jerome.
I love going to gatherings with the old Dean gang. It must have been fun.
He’s going to be here in Raleigh on the 12th. I’m planning to go and listen to him.
I have my Booman Tribune T-shirt all ready to wear to work on Friday.
