No new eyebrows yet, and when is this Fitzmas thing going to arrive anyway?
I did see your response, and I’ll be reading it to young CabinBoy when he gets up! I think hearing how many people had lost their eyebrows and survived made him feel a little better last night.
And I was just thinking, it could be worse. He could have let a cousin cut his bangs who kept trying to even them up until there was so little left they stuck straight out.
Could be a function of the fact that boys generally have more eyebrow volume available. I’m betting you can find a lot more women than men with singed hair stories.
My long lost, Willow, would tear up kiddy pools. The hard plastic ones were no match. She’d get in, and then start clawing and digging at the bottom. The kids would scream and run around with their hair on fire, but Willow loved to dig in the water.
I’ve been waking up Mr. Nature every morning with “Wakey wakey, hands off snakey” ever since I saw it on “My Name is Earl.” Must all men sleep with their hand covering their crotch?
Morning, Andi. No pictures yet. I tried this morning, but the horses weren’t cooperative. I’ve been spraying them with bug juice lately and they don’t exactly love that, so when they spotted the camera in my hand they didn’t hang around to see what it was. I got one fuzzy head shot of Bella with her ears back and the whites of her eyes showing as she eyed that camera. At least they’re good for making an endless supply of fertilizer.
Hey, FM! Long time no see! I’ve missed you, needing praise and encouragement for all the amazing progress I’ve made slacking off (with intermittent naps!). Glad the headache is better.
Well…Boo is alert this morning. Woke right up and lifted his head when i spoke to him. Eyes are clear. Gave me a bunch of kisses. On the other hand, his nose is now dry, and he hasn’t gotten up or responded to questions about whether he would like to go out and go potty.
I can’t gauge his energy level yet, because he hasn’t tried to get up yet. He doesn’t seem to have declined noticeably since last night. A long sleep might have rejuvenated him a touch. It’s too early to tell.
After he finished his milkbone I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk. He did. He made it about a half a block and then wanted to come home. At the end his back legs were starting to give out, so I’m letting him rest for a while before we attempt the stairs. Newfs are stoop blogging. It’s nice out this morning, so he doesn’t mind.
It’s really beautiful time of year in Ottawa — tulips are blooming everywhere. For fun, people set up easels along the beds and paint — oil, watercolour, and you can watch them while they work. And there are many photogs of course.
There are over 3 million all over the city. It’s really quite spectacular. My old tulip sig icon (the pink one) was taken last year at the festival.
The Canadian Tulip Festival has grown into the largest tulip festival in the world from a gift of thanks given five decades ago. In the fall of 1945, Princess Juliana of the Netherlands presented Ottawa with 100,000 tulip bulbs. The gift was given in appreciation of the safe haven which Holland’s exiled royal family received during the Second World War and in recognition of the role which Canadian troops played in liberating the Netherlands.
(…)
The first Canadian Tulip Festival was held in 1953. The Ottawa Board of Trade, at the suggestion of world renowned photographer Malak Karsh whose photographs have immortalized the tulip, formalized the Canadian Tulip Festival to coincide with the tulip’s annual bloom. In the next 10 years the Festival grew in size, with a staggering display of over two million flowers. [link]
I second Olivia and everyone else in hoping that you can get some answers and hopefully see some progress today, Booman. That is encouraging that he ate the biscuit and at least wanted to try his regular routine. Even the small signs of “normality” really count at times like these!
My Jasper girl, whom I swear has some newfie in her, is keeping my anxiety levels raised these past several weeks. She’s given me three scares, the last one being where she wasn’t breathing fully. Thankfully, we got her to the vet’s in time, but as they said, any longer and she’d not be with me today. That was just over two weeks ago…
That said, these episodes have given me a chance to somewhat accept her mortality. She’s 13.5, and yes, dammit, mortal. Bastages. Grrr… But, she’s here today. Her back legs and coordination suffered I think from the lack of oxygen, but not too badly. She sits here begging for food just like always, so I’m hoping I’ve got some more time with her. I hope you have some more time with Boo too. It ain’t easy though…
I have one kitty that is 17 and one that is 16. You’re right… be happy for the time you have with them and just be aware of that. I almost bought a parrot when I found out that they can live for 50 years or more. Then I started wondering about who would take care of it if I went first. sigh. So I have cats and horses and birds(not parrots) and fish. I wanted to volunteer at the local Humane Society, but my house would be a zoo within a month. I’m bad.
I didn’t know he was ailing. That’s really rough. I’ve got cats and many times I’ve found myself desperately wishing they could just tell me what’s wrong so I could get it fixed. Hang in there.
Everyday, I think – I’ll stop in at the cafe before work. but, it takes forever to get the other stuff done. I’m still in my pajamas and I should be in the car by now.
But, I’ve gotta say HI!
I’ll try to stop in again before I actually leave.
Hi, Katiebird. Sorry I haven’t been around lately, but I’ve been, um, withdrawn lately. I promise to get over to eat4today soon. Hope everything is going well for you.
Good to see you here, even if it’s only briefly. But then I haven’t been around as much as I’d like either – no diaries and lots of drive by lurking. RL getting in the way. Hope life is treating you well.
Juat another drive by “hi” from work here this morning, but had to check in with you all to see how folks are doing. Loved the quote Andi … not every day I pop in here and the first thing I see is a line from a Tennessee Williams play! What an inspirational author for the day huh? LOL.
Hope things are going well for all… catch you later most likely.
Oh, I overdid it yesterday. We got a new tractor this week with a tow behind tiller and I went nuts digging a new huge garden. Oh, the part where you sit and drive the tractor is fun. The part where you have to pick 5 tons of rock in between tilling is not so much fun. The tractor also has a bucket… you’d think that tossing rocks into the bucket would be easy. Not so much. Now I know why there are so many stone walls in this area.
At least I’ll end up with the garden of my dreams. I hope.
Oh sure, I’m in pain and you want pictures. 🙂
I explained about the horses in a post upthread. I did take some flower shots this morning, but haven’t resized and uploaded them yet. Hmmm. Maybe the ducks will pose.
My big garden is going to be huge. Lots of work, lots of time… lots of veggies. I love it.
I don’t have enough hands for that. Besides, dangling treats in front of them will give me scary close ups of nostrils, lips, etc. They are not very cooperative subjects.
Not quite vertical yet, but diagonal is better than nothing.
Tea for today: Dooars Oodlabari Estate, because I’ve never heard of it before. It’s an Indian black, something like a Nilgiri apparently. Sounds lovely.
Today’s an honest to goodness free writing day with nothing else on the agenda. Hooray! So I’m going to go do that, though I’ll probably stop in and power lurk from time-to-time.
GEORGOUS!!! Good Morning to you.I love your Colbert quote. On yesterday’s DemocracyNow! show, Amy Goodman aired the video of Colbert’s performance at the press club dinner. I happened to watch it on Link tv… hilarious! If you have broadband, you can download and watch it here
Thanks, Nag! I already saw the segment on Democracy Now and am very glad that Amy covered it. SC has the blogosphere on fire, I swear this thing has legs! The black out of the MSM will backfire on them, and they will see that they are becoming obsolete.
I would be, too, if I was still chained to a desk in the psycho-ward where I used to work! The downside to being “unemployed” is that there is a very slight tendency to slip into depression now and then. don’t ask me why that is! Little things like $$$$ and being programmed to connect a sense of self-worth to jobiness (I coined that one, Stephen!). And to make matters worse, my car went caput when my son was driving it home from school yesterday, so that puts an extra financial strain, etc. What me worry? Not a chance!
I can’t wait to get a home. You reminded me of wanting to plant an orange rose bush. I think some are called “Brass Trumpet” or Brass Jazz something like that. And each day, I can look at it and think of you and Olivia 🙂
I’ll rise but I won’t shine.
Ah great literature, always there with just the words you need.
Good morning everyone.
Heck, rising is even in question this morning…
Type while you sleep. It works for me.
It’s tough sometimes.
Did new eyebrows arrive?
(Did you see my late response to you in last night’s open thread?)
No new eyebrows yet, and when is this Fitzmas thing going to arrive anyway?
I did see your response, and I’ll be reading it to young CabinBoy when he gets up! I think hearing how many people had lost their eyebrows and survived made him feel a little better last night.
Morning CG.
And I was just thinking, it could be worse. He could have let a cousin cut his bangs who kept trying to even them up until there was so little left they stuck straight out.
I was wondering what the girls’ version of eyebrow loss might be…seems like eyebrow loss is a guy thing? 🙂
He just woke up. Time to go make moose-shaped pancakes and hope he’s not too depressed.
I love seeing pictures of your pooch, Spit.
Oops, that was meant to go in the Kere’s thread.
Guess I haven’t risen or shone, yet 🙂
My husband always wakes up with a “riser”. He calls em pee hardons.
I’m so happy you didn’t include pictures or illustrations.
because I’d worry that Olivia or Family Man would counter post with a MAGDA BOOBAGE photo! ACK
😀
You wouldn’t mean like this.
Nope. That’s manboobs. 🙂
I’ve been waking up Mr. Nature every morning with “Wakey wakey, hands off snakey” ever since I saw it on “My Name is Earl.” Must all men sleep with their hand covering their crotch?
(((Second))) LOL
I always wonder, “how can he pee that way?”
When it comes time to clean the toilet… I realize aim is not a priority…. Grr.
It’s an acquired skill.
the obvious dangers of Super Glue
Heh heh. Evil grin.
Or those worried about wifes with the Lorena Bobbitt syndrome.
Morning, Andi. No pictures yet. I tried this morning, but the horses weren’t cooperative. Good morning.
Is it weekend yet?
It sure is. We’re startig the weekend early.
That’s easy for you to say — everyday is Saturday for you. 😉
Morning.
Oh I forgot, some people don’t have endless weekends.
Hey, FM! Long time no see! I’ve missed you, needing praise and encouragement for all the amazing progress I’ve made slacking off (with intermittent naps!). Glad the headache is better.
Well, it is the day before the day before.
Think that will hold us.
I’ve got to get some stuff done that I let go the last couple of days. I’ll keep check back in later.
Well…Boo is alert this morning. Woke right up and lifted his head when i spoke to him. Eyes are clear. Gave me a bunch of kisses. On the other hand, his nose is now dry, and he hasn’t gotten up or responded to questions about whether he would like to go out and go potty.

I’m glad he seems somewhat better and I hope you get good news. We’ll all be wishing the best for Booman.
I’m glad he’s alert, and that he’s not noticeably worse.
Wow, he hasn’t gotten up, but he just powered down a milkbone. He hasn’t eaten a milkbone in days. 🙂
Yay! 🙂
Just for Boo:
After he finished his milkbone I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk. He did. He made it about a half a block and then wanted to come home. At the end his back legs were starting to give out, so I’m letting him rest for a while before we attempt the stairs. Newfs are stoop blogging. It’s nice out this morning, so he doesn’t mind.
Sunshine and fresh air are always good. I hope he makes it back up the stairs without too much trouble.
I’m glad he’s more perky this morning. Give him extra kissies to keep his spirits up. (and yours) Hoping that the news is good today.
This sounds promising, Booman! I’ve been sending lots of good thoughts and I’m glad to hear that he is making some progress.
Good to hear that BooDog is doing a bit better this morning. I hope that you can get some answers from the vet… {{{Boos}}}
I just been over admiring your new pics. It’s amazing how fast you are progressing.
You mentioned doing ‘public photography’ this weekend — is this the tulip festival you mentioned?
Tulip Festival

to get an idea of numbers …

Cereal in mouth translation:
Hello KatieBird, good you stopped by! Take care!
Juat another drive by “hi” from work here this morning, but had to check in with you all to see how folks are doing. Loved the quote Andi … not every day I pop in here and the first thing I see is a line from a Tennessee Williams play! What an inspirational author for the day huh? LOL.

Oh, and WB FM!!!! We’ve all missed you.

At least I’ll end up with the garden of my dreams. I hope.
And when you do, I’ll hope you’ll grace a cafe with some pictures. I love gardening — of the vicarious variety. 🙂
Now about those horse and duck pictures …
Oh sure, I’m in pain and you want pictures. 🙂
I explained about the horses in a post upthread. I did take some flower shots this morning, but haven’t resized and uploaded them yet. Hmmm. Maybe the ducks will pose.
My big garden is going to be huge. Lots of work, lots of time… lots of veggies. I love it.
That’s what I used with the run-away-I-see-a-bridle guys.
I don’t have enough hands for that. Besides, dangling treats in front of them will give me scary close ups of nostrils, lips, etc. They are not very cooperative subjects.
I can sympathize. It’s very hard to get pictures of my dogs doing stuff other than sleeping or sticking their noses in the ground.
at my barn who would go nuts and come beg anytime anybody opened a can of orange soda.
It was a little strange.
I knew a horse once who was like that with cans of beer. She also ate half of a ham sandwich once… guess she needed that beer to wash it down.

Soothing colours … 🙂
I see that I just missed you in the café last night!
Yes, my schedule has been a little off now that I have to try to fit so many naps in during the day! LOL
but I’m so jealous … 😛

n/t yourself! LOL!
what? you don’t think brevity is the soul of wit?
I thought brevity was the soul of lingerie.
to yesterday’s conversation, you will probably be able to make some very accurate predictions about my lingerie (using the term very loosely).
Mine is quite utilitarian. And bulletproof as well.
That’s why I’m following in your wit-steps!
I misinterpreted and thought you were disparaging it.
That is my favorite color of rose!
I can’t wait to get a home. You reminded me of wanting to plant an orange rose bush. I think some are called “Brass Trumpet” or Brass Jazz something like that. And each day, I can look at it and think of you and Olivia 🙂
I’m going to go ahead and open up another cafe. Give me a minute.
New Café here
