FamilyMan, thems there umbrellies are what we call “eye pokers”. You ever get to Oregon, I’ll blow your mind with some incredible blender drinks.
Finally got to make one, actually a few, for my hockey buddy I met on chat years ago and now live near. He says I’m a Pulp Friction goddess of the blender š Best damn daquiri he’s ever had š I was so happy.
He hates the camera. Hates. It. š Whenever he’s doing bad kitty things, all I have to do is pull out the camera and aim it at him! Works every time.
… I’m just getting down d/t all this rain. It’s raining heavily right now. In fact, I’m about ready to start another fire in the fireplace — at least it’s cozy in the family room.
I was just reading your latest post on shoes! LOL, your stories are wonderful. I added my own shoe tale too. š
And there is NO way in HELL I would ever go near Nood’s box w/ my camera! Ick!
No doubt this is a crappy time to announce that I need a teeny tiny break from hosting the Monday cafes. I’ve only been doing it since January and Andi does the lion’s share of the work anyway, but I’m just running out of dazzling conversation.
My meds have allowed me to do some suprisingly lucid thinking about the state of my life and my relationships; clear-headed thinking for perhaps the first time in my adult life. And I realize that I need to find some sort of balance which is impossible when I am sitting on my ass at the computer so much of the day.
I’ll still be checking and writing email and I am not going through a crisis of any sort. I see this as a positive thing – the meds allowing me to engage in my own life instead of being a bystander.
My husband describes the day when he was six years old and he got glasses for the first time. On the way home he was sitting in the backseat of the car looking up at the trees as he passed under them and he was amazed that he could see each individual leaf. He never knew trees were made up of thousands of individual leaves until he got his glasses.
It’s wonderful that your new glasses are opening up the world to you! And I’m so happy for you. But you will be missed and like Andi said, I hope you do stop in and visit! {{{SN}}}
That’s great news SN that the meds are letting you see clearly. You need to do whatever you need to do. Good luck! But just because you’re not hosting doesn’t mean you can’t stop in occasionally to say hi and have some fun?
I saw tons of them when I was in Florida and that’s how I recognized it. Can’t imagine what one was doing on a freeway ramp in the San Fernando Valley. Maybe you do have a wrong way egret in your vicinity.
Spent part of the day napping (damn allergies have me wiped out, plus the rain was no help), part of the day being domestic (put away a bunch of clothes). Didn’t get around to grocery shopping though, so spouse went out to get something for dinner.
that it is, but hopefully there won’t be many more. Hoping for the property to close around mid June, and this week I’m going to start looking at housing in Miami.
This week will be mostly meetings, so that takes up a lot of time, and the trip will go fast.
But wanted to say hello all before I go get something to eat here. Just sent off that report I’ve been slaving on today … not completely finished by closer than it was earlier today. I just can’t bear it anymore today, and have given myself a nice headache in the process. (Don’t worry, O, just took some ibuprofen for it.)
C. has pizza in the oven, so going to get some food in me for now. I’ll probably be back later but hearty hellos to those who may have ‘retired’ before then… um, that would be FM and Andi perhaps? (ready to dodge hurled objects!)
Oh, and Olivia… the sun came out for about 15 minutes today. Total. Cloudy and cool, will probably have to close windows tonight and chance of rain showers. T-storms predicted for Tuesday night though! Can’t wait for those, and we actually will be needing the rain by then.
Ok, gotta go for now. You folks behave and I’ll hopefully see you later!
Hey there, o Wondrous Weather Man.
It’s been a lovely day, despite the showers. Just as you made your magic, the sun shone through the clouds like gold & stayed with us for a good few hours. The smell of the air was truly wonderful: crisp, fragrant & clear, the way it was 20 years ago before local roads were paved & the SUVs arrived.
Because of this, it was a beautiful day for me.
Alas, I’m dealing with a pretty sticky headcold that tends to push me over without warning. Nursing it as best I can.
It’s been raining tonight, but night rain is good. Latest weather reports predict snow for the very early morning.
It’s just occurred to me that I don’t know if my grandmother even knew what pizza was. But she made gorgeous kreplach and I’m tearing up just thinking about her strudel and mandelbrot.
DJ’s pastel drinks.
Where are the jello shooters? DJ makes the best. š
I’m willing to compromise my standards to celebrate DJ’s new house but there are limits beyond which I will not go.
OK then I’ll take one of the pretty drinks.
But I want an umbrella in it. I have my standards too. š

That’s an awfully subdued drink for you.
You’d be surprised, Andi : )I am rather subdued and quiet. But my mind is always going š
I’ve already exhausted that subject matter — Noods is thoroughly disgusted w/ me and the camera:
Here, he’s giving me the ‘leave me alone camera woman’ look. š
Go over to cuteoverload for inspiration.
And I love the expression on Noods face.
He hates the camera. Hates. It. š Whenever he’s doing bad kitty things, all I have to do is pull out the camera and aim it at him! Works every time.
Olivia you are really creative so there must be something you can marco. A rain drop on a window. A wet leaf.
Noods cat box. No wait wait. I forgot your reaction to Omir’s cake. š
… I’m just getting down d/t all this rain. It’s raining heavily right now. In fact, I’m about ready to start another fire in the fireplace — at least it’s cozy in the family room.

Well it seemed to work for WW a little, so I’ll get the newspaper out again and start fanning.
Thanks for mentioning the story. It’s like I said yesterday they’re funny now, but weren’t at that time.
Poor Nood. No cat box pictures. š
More like if you were only me you wouldn’t need to be so busy! LOL
Quite a handsome feline friend you have there, Miss O! Great photo, despite his trepidation.
Yeah, he’s my furrybaby … š and he’s currently sleeping on his pillow behind me on the couch-back, snoring and grunting in my ear LOL.
Are you keeping warm — any of that dreaded white stuff fall on you and yours today?
Such a pretty cat. But she is giving you “face” š I have to go and check out your site tomorrow. I’m a blog slacker, I know.

I feel like that with these meds.
Glad you cleared this beautiful path in your life!
I’ll hate to see you not around, but I’m happy you’re going in a positive direction.
I just thought. Now who is Andi and Olivia going to have to talk about. š
Take care SN.
You should do whatever you think is best. Cafes will take care of themselves.
But you better drop by every now and again for a few minutes to make some snarky comments or we will all be verklempt.
…is putting it mildly!
I hate when ya’ll do that and my translator won’t translate it. š
It means emotional, on the verge of tears, distraught …
I should have known. I tried the German/English translator, but couldn’t find anything.
Plus it’s an Andi word. Of course I should have know it’s Yiddish. š
In that case if SN doesn’t drop by I’ll be very verklempt…
It’s wonderful that your new glasses are opening up the world to you! And I’m so happy for you. But you will be missed and like Andi said, I hope you do stop in and visit! {{{SN}}}

Sounds great, SN. Balance is key.
Hope to see you down the road, however — my goodness, yes.
Enjoy!
((((Second)))))
on one hand I have “stress” and on the other I have “chaos”… Sometimes the juggling act gets to be too much.
I wish you well. But you’ll be in here from time to time. So this is not good bye – it’s a true “hello” : )
Go get em!
Sorting through my Monterey pics and found this cute critter rubber necking in Pebble Beach. LOL.
Hi MM. What is that cute critter. It looks like something we have around the pond.
I’m thinking it’s an egret. I also saw one at a freeway exit here in the San Fernando Valley, go figure.
I think that’s what we have also. I need to look up their migration paths or habitats. I wonder if we’ve got a wrong way Egret?
Yup, it’s definitely an egret. Here is a link with some pictures.

I saw tons of them when I was in Florida and that’s how I recognized it. Can’t imagine what one was doing on a freeway ramp in the San Fernando Valley. Maybe you do have a wrong way egret in your vicinity.
Yep the white one is what we have around the pond. The next time, or if there ever is a next time, I venture near the pond I’ll try and get a picture.
Would love to see a pic, FM, and also wonder if their scattered migration habits have anything to do with GW.
I’m going to take a little nap now, and will be back in a bit!
I hope you keep finding more … š
Rubber necking ROFL š

Just wanted to say “hi” to everyone still awake…
Hi Cali. I hope your allergies get better. Seems they’re hitting everyone hard right now.
Wanna try a cool, refreshing evening drink?

Hi IP. Sounds like a drink I could really get into.
That sounds delish … banana peel excepted! Mmm mmmm! It’s good to see ya … š
Heck around here we have no teeth. We could do the banana peel too. š
Hey there FM…LOL…I understand..
I”m hav’n one now, it’s been a long day here in the swamp. Been cutting the weeds/brush, and time to relax.
Kick back, hot shower, good sleep, and back on the road to Miami tomorrow…geesh..what a drive that is, one end of the state to the other.
I feel for ya. I hate long drives.
that it is, but hopefully there won’t be many more. Hoping for the property to close around mid June, and this week I’m going to start looking at housing in Miami.
This week will be mostly meetings, so that takes up a lot of time, and the trip will go fast.
And it’s the perfect drink for when you want to show your doctor exactly what you think of his low cholesterol schtick.
LOL…yeppers, it does blow the doc’s theory all to hell…
Quiet here tonight. š
What are you doing?
Yes I know. Maybe everybody is just rained out. š
And therefore they should all be visiting w/ us … But, I really know that besides ww, all the froggies are having breezy, blue skies. š
No we’re not it storming/raining all over the country. God I’ll be so happy for some good weather.
Feel any better? š
Well I can put that on my list of doing things right.
That’s one so far. š
I imagine your list is very lengthy, o humble slothful southern sage … š
Nah, I just talk a good game. š
Hey Olivia….the pleasure is all mine ; )
Now that’s been a pleasure! š
LMAO…Momma always told me I was like a butterfly, (not really, it was more like a fart in a hot skillet ; )
LmyAO! You’re great IP … š
yum, yum, who’s mixing these up, because I’ll have one? Family Man you have the ice cream …
Yep I sure do which is surprising for me. By now a 1/2 gallon would be gone.
I may only be here for a short time because thunder storms might be rolling in. I can’t tell, they may go south. So if I disappear, I’ll be back.
Just soft rain right now. But it was beautiful and clear all day.
Oh Mary you had to say that. I was trying to make Olivia feel better by telling her the whole country was under rain.
Maybe she didn’t see.
I AM under rain, right now š
at the Illinois-Indiana state line and no damn rain is getting across here unless it promises to go flood out a ranch in texas first.
more luck with your wall than W has with his wall.
We actually had a gorgeous day until about an hour ago, and it’s not raining that hard.
Well OK I’ll admit it. We’ve had gorgeous weather for the last week and probably will for awhile.
I’m doing my best to get it to ya’ll.
It was a nice, though cool, weekend here too. And I do have to admit that a solid week of rain makes for a really lush forest.
That sounds absolutely de-lish!!!
I bet it would be great with coffee ice cream, too. The possibilities!!
Thanks Gator Man! XOXOXO (those are huggies and kissies)
caramel
chocolate
that would be good too. I can not wait to try your recipe š
Well Ladies and Gents, the Bailey’s has done it’s job, along with the weed eater, and time for this ol’ boy to get some shut eye.
Till we meet again, peace be with you and yours always.
Wado
Sleep well IP.

See ya later … š
Who says I’ll be gone. I might stay up all night unless Olivia kicks me out of the cafe. š
I wouldn’t do that …
Well I know how you late nighter are. Lets get rid of those old geezers and start the party. š
We’re all old geezers, and just not enough brains to get a good nights sleep. š
Well I know I’m an old geezer and I haven’t even eaten dinner tonight.
I’m going to get something to eat and see if I can stay awake.
come wandering in and here ya are, caussin’ FM grief and castin’ ‘spersions ’bout the late shift…:{)
Are you coming over to the new cafe? š
Oh, my — pizza in the oven. Sounds absolutely heavenly.
(‘Course, I’m sure it’s no longer in the oven by now.)
Heeeeeey WW. How’s your day been going?
Hey there, o Wondrous Weather Man.

Oh I’m so sorry about the cold.
You stay warm, bundle up and if ya got them eat a bucket of chittlins. Trying to get them down will completely make you forget about the cold. š
Not a chance on the chittlins, FM — but I do have a bowl of delicious home-made soup in front of me.
Mmm, mmm, good.
Well it’s not chittlins, but it will do. You just take care of yourself.
I do my best, dear. Thank you!
but I have this recurring dream where someone actually delivers pizza to my house.
By chance Andi is there a basement in your house?
as to put anyone in my basement.
Some consider it a kindness š
you haven’t seen my basement. Even the mice don’t like it.
I don’t know, I seem to remember something about delivery boys and basements. Some other blog I guess. š
Wouldn’t that be something!
Me, I tend not to dream about delivery, but I do dream of my grandmother, who baked it from scratch. The best ever, bless her.
It’s just occurred to me that I don’t know if my grandmother even knew what pizza was. But she made gorgeous kreplach and I’m tearing up just thinking about her strudel and mandelbrot.
We’ve been incredibly lucky grandchildren, no?
My granny didn’t know what pizza was ’til she’d been in the US for 50+ years & they opened a pizza stand in her neighborhood.
She was a Napolitana.
I know mine didn’t. But then again didn’t pizza get invented in NY around the late 1920’s.
and then bed. Be right back.
opened here.
