No, but I thought is was funny that you mentioned the difference between store bought and homemade…because I was going to write “homemade tortilla” in the first post.
tortilla? Is that akin to the French saying of whoever gets the last bit of wine (esp champagne) from the bottle will “be married or pregnant by the end of the year” ? I think it also applies equally if the states are reversed, but don’t quote me on that…
Well, well, well… if’n it ain’t ole NDD back from a tour of yet another parallel universe! Discover anything interesting this time?
Oh, and a question… 1 week into taking Glucosamine/Chondroitin … dada told me it would take a while to notice a change. Any thoughts about when that might happen?
I’m just wondering if I’m being impatient, that’s all. It’s just the combo of my hip injury and the RA, so I don’t expect miracles overnight. NDD had said it really helped him, so I’m giving it a chance before I steel myself up to undertaking acupuncture. (I’m a big needle wuss…)
and heard many very positive things about acupuncture from friends. Weird thing is, there are 2 acupuncture clinics within walking distance of my house, so it’s really catching on here. And C’s doctor (MD and also into herbal medicine) also practices acupuncture for many different reasons. I should suggest that to FM sometime, as I know people who have had success with it for migraines.
It’s just that hurdle of getting used to the idea… though everyone tells me it’s virtually painless. I can see myself now… Ok, I’ll lie down…and close my eyes. You do what you have to do, and don’t give me the details please, or I might faint! lol
same thing about it, that it’s more of a vibration feeling than the pain of a needle. I dunno, I guess I’ll cross that bridge if I ever come to it when I find myself in a situation where that’s one of the options to feeling better. G’night IVG!
and have had needles, and I can say I recall absolutely no discomfort at all. I think a fly landing on my arm creates a sensation maybe ten times more than the needle. You’ll hardly notice it.
I have had the laser acupuncture too, in Winnipeg, but as far as I know that is only available to veterinarians in the US.
Figures that the vets get first crack at it… it must work then. I think we’re at the point where we may take Rolly to a vet acupuncturist not far from here… he’s been having a hard time lately with his back legs, especially during damp days. I know a woman (not a friend, but someone who wouldn’t make this up) who takes her 15 yr old dog to this vet and she says it has made a world of difference for him. I think it’s worth a try for the old guy… he’s such a sweetie and has really failed a lot in the past 6 months, but still has a lot of fire in the belly, so to speak. He’s just kinda creaky, like me, lol. But anything to make him more comfy would definitely be a plus for us.
That’s good to know… I think we should ask when we take him in. I know that C will be really devastated when he goes (and no time soon, I sure hope!), as will Pepa, as they have been constant companions for almost 9 years now. She kind of wears him out sometimes with her constant energy, even though she’s an old bitch of 12 yrs old! But you’ve lived through aging dog syndrome many times yourself, so you know what I’m talking about there.
for the first two weeks, if’n I’m recalling correctly.
For me it might have been closer to three weeks. In my case the original injury was some 18 years back in history. There was a particular yoga exercise that I had been trying to do all those years, then one day, no pain in the attempt. That’s what sold me.
However, everyone is different, the change you notice may not be so obvious. To give you an idea of the severity of the original injury I had pain every step I took with that foot for two years, then one day I’m walking along, and it dawns on me, no pain, when it quit I have no idea.
I’m actually taking a slightly different Glucosamine product, which I can elaborate on via email if you like. I forget now what’s in mine, but I think there’s a sulfate component, plus a couple of other things not in the usual G/Chondroitin that’s widely available.
The recommendation on mine is to double the normal maintenance dose in the initial weeks, so dosage might be a factor too, depending on what you are doing.
Thx for the tips, NDD. And yes, when you get the chance, email me with details with the one you use. The recommended dosage (which I’m taking) with the one I got is 3 tabs/day for 60 days, then taper down to 1-3 per day. I figured I’d give the regular dosage at least a month before re-evaluating. I know better than to expect miracles (I’ve done the SSRI thing and am patient about such things), but I was just curious what you thought. Dada said not to expect anything real fast but that it would probably help at some point. Just being impatient… especially since I “overdid” it today and am pretty sore tonight, lol. You’d think I’d learn, but noooooo!
the light just goes out into the parallel universe and due to the curvature of space circles around and comes back again accompanied by the reverse arrow of time.
that doesn’t look right, I’m gonna have to ask BooMan to change my UID to the real deal. hmmm, I wonder if ppl will call me Man Eegee if it gets altered to Manny? 😉
Hey good night to you as well… I hope I didn’t piss you off earlier with my “think pink” remark… it was not meant in a mean way at all! Apologies if it somehow offended in any way.
Rest well, Olivia… and I sure hope that the rain gives you a break! Make sure to go empty anything that can collect water in your garden to ward off mosquitoes. And try some of that Cutter Bug Free Back Yard if they start invading your space… it really works wonders. We were out in prime mosquito time tonight and nary a one to be seen… Only downside we see with it killing the mosquitoes is that we’re kind of depriving the bats of food… but they have plenty to find in other yards nearby, I’m sure.
Anyway, take care, and thx again for the lovely email! Made my day, since it was the only thing I got from a real person! (MoveOn and DCC emails don’t count!)
Especially over a color! Lol… take care my dear, and we’ll talk again soon. Gentle breezes and open window nights are coming to you soon, I promise… it’s just a matter of a shift in the jet stream…. {{{{{{OLIVIA}}}}}}
I appreciate all the help and tips you give on so many subjects. Sure hope I can return the favor on something sometime for you. Count me out in the carpentry dept though… I’m a moron where that’s concerned.
Oh, and I was really amused by your accounts of encounters with Republicans in the earlier cafe… just keep hunting them, and shoot them down with smart refutations of the kool aid talking points. That’s the best we can do right now I think… one person at a time.. slow going, but I still hold out hope that we will prevail in the long run!
And I’ve got to do “job” work today, so better get going myself. Hoping to get some gardening done today somehow at some time…. but things are looking spiffier around here each day.
Take care my friend, and see you very soon. Keep us posted (or joisted?) on your deck progress… hehe. All the best to you and Ms. NDD…. byeeeeeee!
what’s wrong is everyone afraid to post first, come’on it not like taking the last tortilla at the dinner table
talking about store-bought tortillas, because if they were homemade there would be a brawl for the last one (at least in my familia).
of course if there homemade you should have the decency to leave at least 1/4 of tortilla..
on a roll tonight. Second-best. Laugh. of. the. day.
Are you really Carlos Mencia or Jorge Lopez in disguise?
No, but I thought is was funny that you mentioned the difference between store bought and homemade…because I was going to write “homemade tortilla” in the first post.
running a little slow tonight…
tortilla? Is that akin to the French saying of whoever gets the last bit of wine (esp champagne) from the bottle will “be married or pregnant by the end of the year” ? I think it also applies equally if the states are reversed, but don’t quote me on that…
from my experience it’s just a matter of common courtesy gone rampant. It only leads to a stale sliver of tortilla.
like who’s going to ask granma to go heat up some more tortillas when she just sat down? be prepared to clean her yard for a month!
See youse guys tomorrow. Don’t let the BBs bite!
thanks for solidifying my opposition to buying a Backstreet Boys (BB) album for my dj collection.
(i know what you meant, just bein’ silly)
Awww… skip bed and just throw it out with the bath water! (Sure am hoping there is no real baby there in your house or I’m in big trouble!)
See ya soon MM! Think Pink. (Because you know Olivia will be…)
the BBs ain’t bit yet, ‘cept the ones Cheney shoots off, ha.
Well, well, well… if’n it ain’t ole NDD back from a tour of yet another parallel universe! Discover anything interesting this time?

started taking that and has noticed a considerable change to her joint pain. She feels much better, hope it helps you!
please don’t take that the wrong way.
I’m just wondering if I’m being impatient, that’s all. It’s just the combo of my hip injury and the RA, so I don’t expect miracles overnight. NDD had said it really helped him, so I’m giving it a chance before I steel myself up to undertaking acupuncture. (I’m a big needle wuss…)
needle opposition with you. blech. They are up there with the many-legged creatures.

with great results, I’d say talk to vet…

laser acu machines for humans for over 20 years. Might be another 20 years before they’re in use for human in the US.

the hookah managed to mellow out the crowd, I guess I should let the marmot have the white peach after all to liven things up around here.
i noticed dada taking a more lurker-role in this cafe, maybe he found some of the ‘iffy’ stuff.
gotta head up to bed, about to fall asleep sitting here. Here’s something for you to ponder in your dreams:
Where does the light go, when the light goes out?
Later
Sleep well
Peace
I’ve always thought that it hides out in the refrigerator until morning… but that’s just an un-scientific anecdotal observation….
bonne nuit, dada-o
the light just goes out into the parallel universe and due to the curvature of space circles around and comes back again accompanied by the reverse arrow of time.
I’m heading out for the night. Have a good one, I’ll talk to you all soon (not too early tomorrow, tho) 🙂
Adios y paz
that doesn’t look right, I’m gonna have to ask BooMan to change my UID to the real deal. hmmm, I wonder if ppl will call me Man Eegee if it gets altered to Manny? 😉
Later olivia (i’m really going now)
You and Bud sleep well, amigo mío… well, on that, I’m sure Bud is long since sacked out (as are Pepa and Rolly).
Glad to have talked w/you yet again Sr. Eegee, and hope you have a great Sunday, whatever you have planned.
cuidado, y marcha con murciélagos! (couldn’t resist that one more time… all in fun, ya know)

Have a great day in the flower plot tomorrow, and whatever else you’re doing.
