Andif, looking at your picture, reminds me of the rainbows we had last week. As I was coming home from work last week, I saw a rainbow full..both end of it…and not only that it was a double one to boot. Haven’t seen those in a very long time.
Morning Andif. I am one who will stay optimistic until some one proves me otherwise….:o)
I am very sure to some there will be a good day approching or to some a bad day approching. I think I must make mine a good one..I hope I am right on that one…:o)
How was your w/e? We had a few little thunderstorms but nothing to give us a great scare. The lightening was fantastic in its performance. I just happened to be out in this and was it and it was something to see.
Got up this morning to the same routine with the cats. They missed me lots for I was gone this w/e. When I got home it was like usual. One cat was mad at me and two of them smothered me with wanting me to be close to them. Finally the mad one gave in and joined with the other two…:o)
It does look as if it could rain today. It has warmed up lots around this area.
Glad to see ya today. Maybe things will start to look up for you…hugs
I usually like to figure it’s going to be a good day until it proves otherwise. I’ve been in periods where I felt like Eeyore on Donkey Downers. It’s not much fun.
Of course there are days I look forward to more than others . . .
You bet we had a great time..or at least I did…:o) It was in the 90’s during the BBQ fest and just had to get out of that heat. I am getting to old to be a sun worshiper!….:o) I just wished we had had more time for our meet up. Time just flew by tooo fast for me anyhow. Missed you…next time we must have a place to meet and just talk politics…My son joined us for a short time on Friday night. This will be his first time to get to see politics, up hand. Blueneck is going to write up the meet up today he said.
I’m glad ya’ll had a good time and I wish I could have been there. The irony is the relatives that just left here passed through Memphis about the time ya’ll were there.
I almost felt like telling my Mom we’re going for a little ride, but after the first hour, she would had caught on.
I am very sure you would have enjoyed our company. We really had a great time, and I think I can speak for the others in this statement. I want to do this again and then next time, do it inside and away from the sun goddess! I just can’t handle her anymore…:o) Guess it is my age that is telling the final note on this one.
You aren’t the only one who can’t handle the sun/heat. I’ve said it before, the older I get the less I can handle it. Thus the mystery to me of why so many old people move to FL.
By now, you ought to have had some coffee and got the other eye open at least half way open. If ‘no’ to either or both, be careful not to step on the dog.
You and I hung out on Saturday night, I’m really enjoying your book. It provided just enough inspiration to kick me in the butt and flesh out my outline for a novel that’s been cooking in my brain for years.
as the saying goes. I managed to wake up 25 minutes before my alarm clock went off, not quite sure how that miracle was performed. How goes it for you today?
You mean it wasn’t us late nighters telling you to get off your butt and start writing? And here I was, waiting for you to dedicate that novel to me. I can see it now, kansas is going to get all the credit. ::sniff::
We’ll get even. We’ll talk about you while we’re having our have chocolate massages.
No reason, it just sounded like fun to type. Coming off most of a week’s break while Dr.Mc. recovered from the semester. Much video-gaming and lounging. Not so much writing. She’s back at school today doing clean up, and I get to write. This is good. When she’s home I’m usually so busy being lovestruck I don’t get much else done. Okay, not quite true. We did a fair bit of gardening and the house no longer looks like it’s occupied by two people with no time to clean, but we’re both more productive when she has to go in to the office once in a while.
Today’s tea: Diet Pepsi. Sigh.
Today’s fantasy tea: China Yellow Tips, a yellow green with a rich full flavor.
Not sure why, but I’m in a remarkably good mood today. Some of it’s probably going back to caffeine after a week off to detox. It works again! More of it’s probably from getting some quantity time with Dr.Mc.. That’s been lacking much of this crazy year. Oh, and there’s that being over the 2/3 mark on the book. Haven’t done much since I crossed the line, but it still makes me feel light and fluffy.
Back when I drank a lot of coffee and then stopped for awhile. Once I started it again I would always have the Whoa all this energy feeling, I’ve got to do something.
Energy and my slackerly ambitions just can’t co-exist, so it’s no caffeine for me.
Hi, Kelly. Speaking of gaming, have you read the book, Everything Bad Is Good for You, by Steven Johnson? If you haven’t, I think you’d love it. It’s a wonderfully counter-intuitive book about the ways that games and tv are making us smarter, not dumber. Of course, I’ve long suspected that, so naturally I like the book. 🙂
That’s so sweet about you being so lovestruck! You just won over dozens of female hearts when you wrote that. Between ManE’s pancakes and your love for your wife, I’m quite impressed by the BooMen today! (And all our other guys, too!)
Hi Manny! Were you too young for Footloose? Probably. We gave the newly rising-to-power social conservatives the finger while danced our asses off in 1984, ya know.
since you’re probably burning with homesickness of the Grand Canyon State [grin], you’ll be happy to know that the triple-digit season has arrived in the dustlands.
I could never handle the low desert because of the heat. It was almost always really cool up in Flag, but in some freakish weather phenomenon that I will just randomly blame on global warming, it has actually been colder here in Dayton than it has been in Flagstaff ever since we got here. The hell is up with that? It’s late May and I’m still wearing pants, that ain’t right.
I haven’t read it, but I’ve been meaning to pick it up ever since I started reading the reviews. Unfortunately, my to-read shelf is so full I’m only allowed to pick up stuff I absolutely have to have, like your latest.
On the lovestruck front, we’re coming up on seventeen years together, and no matter where I go she’s always the most interesting person there. A couple years back at the American Association of Physics Teachers conference they were giving out mood magnets – a magnet with about twenty faces on it, each with an emotional caption, and another circular magnet to select a mood with. Ours has been on lovestruck so long that we had to make a second circle magnet so we could be lovestruck – and – exhausted or lovestruck – and – bemused, or whatever. Laura and writing are the two things at the top of my priority list. Everything else has to wait in line. It helps keep me sane when my hair’s on fire about the latest mess our Leaderless-Fear has dropped the country into.
Andi, FM, Refi, Brenda, Oui, Kelly, Kansas, and anyone else I might have inadvertantly missed (because I wouldn’t advertantly miss any of you!)…
Exceptionally good mood here — actually showered and dressed by 8am! Spouse and I going out to breakfast today, then heading up one county to finally get a copy of my birth certificate so I’ll be legal for the trip. (Fortunately passports aren’t required for Canada till end of 2006; we’ll probably do the passport thing in early fall just in case.) Then come home and get more cleaning done; actually accomplished quite a bit yesterday. (I’d really like to clear out the storage room but that’s probably going to wait till we get back from our vacation.) If we have time, I’ve got a few items ready to head over to Goodwill/other charities; that’ll free up some extra space as well.
lol! I love that. You’ve coined a new usage. Did Colin Powell advertantly lie to the UN? Did this administration advertantly lie us into war? Did George Bush advertantly miss a few days of his Guard service?
Am I advertantly going to eat too many pancakes in a few minutes?
“Advertently” is a great word. It’s one of a class of words that we seldom use in the positive, prefering instead to characterize people with the negative (“in-” prefixed) use of the word.
I remember seeing a poem many years ago that doesn’t appear to be on the Internet. All I remember of it now is the last three lines:
I’m neither ept nor ane.
I greatly fear my somnia
Will someday drive me sane!
‘Morning, folks. Lovely to see you, as always.
It’s another blustery day here in the mountains, though something resembling sunlight seems to be seeping through the clouds.
If it snowed last night, I missed it. Tonight promises frost.
Regardless of the weather, though (& my bald tire), I’ll have to be heading out to town here shortly. This morning’s domestic dialogue goes something like this:
Woodland Empress: Got any food for us yet? Wench: Not yet, dear. I’m sorry. Empress: Oh, OK. .. .. Hey, got any food for us yet? Wench: No, darling. It’s only been five minutes. I’m still on my first cup of coffee. Empress: OK. .. Um, is there any food?
Morning WW. Empress sounds a lot like Cat and Tom.
One exception though. Tom stays outside and when his food isn’t there at the correct time he comes to my window. Outside my window is a talbe on the front porch. Tom will jump from the table and plant his claws in the window screen. So usually I hear a noise, look up from the computer, and there’s a big tom cat hanging onto my window screen looking straight at me. Uncanny really.
Anyway after replacing the screen, I finally got the message. Don’t be late with the food. 🙂
George, Tom and Cat definitely have me trained. I gave up a long time ago on sitting and talking thing out rationally with them. Once they make up their mind, I have no say. 😉
You should’ve seen me trying to herd the cats out of my landlord’s cabin when they sneaked in there last week. Couldn’t wait for them to start clawing his furniture with glee, or stealing (as the kitten likes to do).
All was well, though. His water heater clicked on & they scurried out.
As of right now, we’re primed for feline rebellion. I’d best get my boots on & shimmy.
See you soon.
Only four more working days until Friday! Work will be a picnic compared to this weekend. We’re going to Les Miserables on Friday and the Northwest Folklife Festival the rest of the weekend through Memorial Day. I’ll probably be ready to go back to work on Tuesday just to rest up.
sounds like a lot of fun — much better than living in a place where everyone gets all excited over who can go in circles the fastest (I predict Bush to win).
Hi Manny. If you’re to busy I’ll go ahead, but I was having trouble with code and can’t figure something out. Plus I’m not sure, is it too early for a happy hour?
It’s Monday so I’m leaving off the good till it does something to prove it deserves it.
Andif, looking at your picture, reminds me of the rainbows we had last week. As I was coming home from work last week, I saw a rainbow full..both end of it…and not only that it was a double one to boot. Haven’t seen those in a very long time.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I’ll join the cats in being glad you’re around. It’s always a pleasure when you are.
Why, Thanks Andif. It is always such a pleasure to be here too. To think of the other way things could be, I am very glad I am here too….:o)
PS: Andif, I am glad you are here as well….:o) This just would not be the place it is without you…
I’d be humming ‘Mutual Admiration Society’ right now, except I don’t remember how the song goes. 🙂
Hiya Brenda,
I usually like to figure it’s going to be a good day until it proves otherwise. I’ve been in periods where I felt like Eeyore on Donkey Downers. It’s not much fun.
Of course there are days I look forward to more than others . . .

What is happening across the big pond? Hope your weather is good.
Good morning Andi, Brenda, Oui.
Good Morning FM and also to Oui. HOpe you all are having a good morning so far.
Hi Brenda. Just trying to wake up. Been sleep late for the last couple of days.
Are you doing OK, have a good time the w/e?
You bet we had a great time..or at least I did…:o) It was in the 90’s during the BBQ fest and just had to get out of that heat. Hope you’re still working on getting some sunshine to olivia. We all could use some new flower pics.
I’m afraid my weather mojo, if I can call it that, is gone. I’ve been trying all week and nothing. 🙁
Morning Folks!!!! I took today off work and having been doing some things around the house this am. Hope everyone has a great Monday!!!!
Morning Refinish.
Good rant yesterday on your podcast.
Thank you!!!!!!
I forgot to add your voice sounded fine to me.
but I play him in this comment: Don’t work too hard and be sure to take a nice nap.
but I play her in this comment: What he or is it she said.
I don’t know. I confused now.
Lurking. Opening one eye. Muttering g’morning.
Morning Kansas. After all you’ve been doing, I think I would keep both eyes closed for at least a week.
I read the NYT’s review over at KB’s and it was great.
Morning kasas
By now, you ought to have had some coffee and got the other eye open at least half way open. If ‘no’ to either or both, be careful not to step on the dog.
lol! She thanks you for that tip.
Morning, Andi, Brenda, refinish, FM, and all who appear later. And yeah, FM, that review was a major whew.
I hope everybody has a glorious day. Or a glorious nap. Me, I’m hoping for a glorious pancake.
Oh, Yum. You really know how to treat a girl!
You and I hung out on Saturday night, I’m really enjoying your book. It provided just enough inspiration to kick me in the butt and flesh out my outline for a novel that’s been cooking in my brain for years.
Morning Manny. How goes it today?
as the saying goes. I managed to wake up 25 minutes before my alarm clock went off, not quite sure how that miracle was performed. How goes it for you today?
Doing fine. Glad to hear you got over your insomnia bout. I hate when those happen.
I’m glad we had a good time! 🙂
Oh, wow! I would love to inspire you to get to work on that novel!
You mean it wasn’t us late nighters telling you to get off your butt and start writing? And here I was, waiting for you to dedicate that novel to me. I can see it now, kansas is going to get all the credit. ::sniff::
We’ll get even. We’ll talk about you while we’re having our have chocolate massages.
a chapter to you but I’m trying to shoot for a general audience rating. The late night orgies might slay my chances 🙂
you will soon learn how to write first-rate ‘they had hot monkey sex’ scenes without actually ever mentioning a single detail.
Tee hee.

Indeed! Big smile.
Morning Indy. How are you today?
I am in full on slack mode, and lovin’ every minute of it, how ’bout yourself, gent?
I fine and had big plans today, but for some reason I feel like slacking and napping.
I’m not feeling like the usual up and at em, lets get everything done type person I am today. 🙂
if he’s gearing up for a full-out music jam session or looks constipated. 🙂
Hi Indy!!!
I go with number 2.
are just flowing out of you today, my friend.
Hi Manny! Were you too young for Footloose? Probably. We gave the newly rising-to-power social conservatives the finger while danced our asses off in 1984, ya know.

Spellcheck doesn’t like that word!
“Advertently” is a great word. It’s one of a class of words that we seldom use in the positive, prefering instead to characterize people with the negative (“in-” prefixed) use of the word.

They sure are good at training us, aren’t they?
‘Course, in her frustration the Empress just hops onto our metal roof & runs back & forth a bit.
CLUMPETY CLUMPETY CLUMPET CLUMP ..
She sounds like a 200 lb. bear up there.
🙂
Good to see you this morning, FM. Hope all’s well with you.
I’m doing fine WW and hope you are too.
George, Tom and Cat definitely have me trained. I gave up a long time ago on sitting and talking thing out rationally with them. Once they make up their mind, I have no say. 😉
I definitely hear you on that!
We’re both outnumbered, too.

should i open up a midday cafe?
Hi Manny. If you’re to busy I’ll go ahead, but I was having trouble with code and can’t figure something out. Plus I’m not sure, is it too early for a happy hour?
come on over for some sun tea in the midday cafe
