Who’s goin’ first in the tank?
Blurry vision from bad eyesight or drink sprecials not an excuse for missing the target
|
Please recommend (and unrecommend the Cafe/Lounge from earlier)

May the 4’s be with you
OH Manny, it’s so big!!! π
KER-SPLASHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Good drinkie!
Now… on to the dunk tank!
the tank, I can only imagine the heckling you’ll give to anyone throwing balls in your direction π
Missed. Try your left one.
Not much power, did you throw balls earlier today?
Hope you’re feeling better soon!!!
it’s more annoying than anything at this point. Thx for the good wishes ((olivia))
Fill that sucker with margueritas and you’ll have most of the cafe begging to go first. π
Sort of like a recurrent line from many different blues songs:
“If whiskey was a river and I was a duck
I’ve dive to the bottom and I’d never come up”
at least with whiskey you don’t have to worry about brain freeze!
I wouldn’t know, but it seems like you might if the whiskey was cold enough, since apparently brain freeze is caused by cold foods coming in contact with the roof of the mouth (according to some research I read out there on the internets).
Time for some research. See if you can get a grant.
Will do to tell you of the house news. π Thanks. I truly think I’ve gone grayer due to this house sitch. ACK.
But it will be so nice to move in and sleep there the first night and be able to kick the Mr out of bed in the morning to go make coffee. π
It will all work out! Don’t lose faith even if there seems to be a snafu, it just couldn’t be possible for the deal to fall through after all the work you have put into it! Just couldn’t.
XXXXFingers and toes crossed!XXXXX
my realotr just called and he said he hasn’t heard back from the Title company yet as to whether or not it’s been recorded HOWEVER the agent has relinquished the keys which were in the realtor lockbox thingy on the door all this time.
So I guess it’s a go. The realtor will call us as soon as he hears.
Can’t go get the keys tonight so will pick them up tomorrow from his office. He said he’s on his way to get the keys now and is dropping off a little house warming present and leaving it in our new home.
π ((((MM)))
Yay! Yay! Yay! The key thing does sound very promising! What a good feeling it will be to open up that front door and walk inside….
Now… let’s all cross our fingers and piggies for your new job and that it turns out to be something wicked cool and enriching beyond our wildest dreams… or… that it at least doesn’t lock up it’s toilet paper or have bathroom vouchers. π
After pissing in a jar and driving 90 miles RT to be fingerprinted for these people, I’m expecting full bathroom access! LOL
And mazel tov!
Happy dance time.
Snoopy mugs of root beer for all π
The Mr. is now jonesing to go get the keys… he might run over before a meeting π
I know I hate waiting.
Great news, DJ!! Keys sound pretty damn definite, eh? I’ll really breathe the big sigh of relief for you guys when you report you have them in your grubby hands and have actually used them to open up the door! Is Mr. Damnit going to carry you over the new threshold?
Very happy for you all… now the real work will begin with getting moved and all that fun stuff! But in your case, I’m betting you will find a way to make that fun…!
I know. It’s so hard to relax and totally let it sink in yet. Because each hurdle we’ve crossed… there’s been another one.
If he tries to lift me, I’m likely to lift him and toss his around. Jujitsu… is so cool π
He wasn’t supposed to leave work before 5 so he’s hustling to set something up to meet the realtor there now. IE he changed his mind about waiting till tomorrow. LOL
Are you guys nuts?! It’s zero degrees C. Even Luna’s fur was crunchy with frost when I let her in.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
we forsaw this problem, keres, and invested in a bunch of these for you.
You’re too kind.
Now, if you could just all keep it down whilst I have my morning tea and wait for the frost to melt – before going outside to feed the alpacas (who are sensibly still bedded down in their fuzzy wooly coats).
settle them all down, but I guess you’re gonna have to borrow some ear-muffs
Tell me those aren’t Albert muffs!!?!?!?!?!?!
π
Not Albert. But apparently close cousins of his.
Albert is sensibly snuggled down next to the wood stove. Luna decided that it was too hot in the house (a mear 12C/50F) and went back outside.
Whew!
Those did look like bunny butts.
Give Luna some luvvin’.
something I’d rather not approach. Unless, as Omir suggested, it’s filled with margaritas, in which case I’m all over that.
How’s everyone doing this time of day? Just trying to kill the rest of my time in cubihell before I can head home. Hope you’re feeling better than this morning, Manny… but I suspect a lot of us are pretty glum today… I sure was/am/will be for a while. Lol.
Heyas DJ, Omir, Keres and whoever else popped in while I was writing this…
CubiHell oh my! Do you guys have prairie doggin’ there? Where people start popping up from their cubes if anything goes on? π
Not really prairie doggin in my part of the office since there are only three of us in a row, and offices down the hall. Ours are, however, so close that I just talk to the guy next to me from my side and we carry on conversations without getting up, lol.
How about a little bloomage to speed you on to your new house? Just another little bit of foxglove that C took yesterday…
Oh, and your idea earlier about lavender… that would be lovely, providing of course, you have enough sun for it. It likes a lot of sun and very well drained soil to thrive. And make sure you get a variety hardy to your zone… not all the ones they sell are winter hardy. Munstead surely would work, as I’m planting more of that this year… anyway things to think about!
I always liked those because, like me, they have freckles π Aren’t they poisonous to kids that stick things in their mouth or something??
Lavender, thanks! I’m pretty sure my mom grew bunches of it up on Whidbey Island, WA… in the northern part of Puget Sound… so I always thought it would grow anywhere since it could flourish in cold, cloudy island weather. π
I haven’t seen too many Butterfly Bushes around here. The only thing I haven’t been able to kill and had many of in Calif.
Yes, they are very poisonous, like many things we grow around here, lol. One of those “lookie, no touchie” kind of thing… well you can touch them, but ingesting is not so smart. Funny about the buttefly bushes… I’d read that they are practically an invasive weed up there… maybe you just haven’t spotted them yet. Ours don’t get a long enough season to be invasive or get much bigger than about 7 feet, which is fine by me. Less to prune back in the spring!
Up in wine country, that stuff was everywhere… I had a bush in our yard when we moved in and I took it out since my son even when he got older… would put flowers in his mouth.
He’d rip out my pansies, anything small so I put in butterfly bushes. He liked those due to the butterflies and cabbage moths that would flock.
No Oleander here… not hardy in our zone, though there is a restaurant nearby that has a beautiful plant in their lobby that actually blooms. Just for the hell of it, we took out one of our references yesterday that has a whole section on poisonous common flowers… Bleeding heart, columbine, holly, hellebores, and much more.
Tell ya what’s a good eating flower… Nasturtiums!! I planted a few seeds of those yesterday. Are they yummy… kind of a peppery flavor to the flowers (good to throw into salads or for a garnish), the leaves are spicy flavored too, but most people only eat the flowers. Easy to grow in crappy dirt, so you might want to try a pack of seeds. Do not buy plants. They will not grow. Only plant from seeds in poorish soil.
Ok, enough sermonizing… get back to partying wild woman!!
I thought that was the best kind to use?
(clearly I need to take a nap)
Lol, Manny… let me correct myself… poor soil … ya called me on that one! I need a quick nap too… catch ya later amigo.
I’m still working on the demo part of deck project, not fun, sawzalling makes one’s teeth chatter, not my favorite tool, but when nec beats all other options.
I discovered more rot, of course, and need to replace a long section of plywood running underneath the door.
At least it’s 78F today and not 91F, and I’m working on the shady side of the house.
Other than that I’m patiently waiting for O’s macro photo of the noodles on the toes.
Found more rot. Where have I heard that before??? π Good luck with your deck (no typos on the word “deck”, I was very careful)
π (((NDD)))
will soon be yours.
I used to be involved in the RE business, seemed like nothing but continuous nightmares for all sides. People can just be so weird sometimes. Seems like big $ amounts affect people that way… no more rational thought… no consideration… just me me me.
I’m lucky, here, since it’s just me I’ve got to argue with on how to go about the project.
Hey there NDD! Missed seeing you around the past few days, but glad to hear you’ve gotten a lot done. We did too this weekend, despite a rainy Saturday. All the veggies are in and a ton of seeds got planted too. Still loads more to do…Maybe catch you later if you’re in the FBL later.
but dang, have to wait till return to the city computer system.
Yeah, I’ve been missing the late night activity, but I’ve been trying to “rehab” somewhat on sleep schedule, so I’ve only lurked in on a few.
Well, I’d better go at it again for a while… should be around again after dark, ND time.
I’ll keep a beer or two chilled for ya bud! Good luck on the rest of the work. Seeya later!
Good to hear that you’re working hard, not good about the rot though. And sorry to say no pix of noodles LOL!
I never saw anything like that, and just after I thought I had seen everything!
I’ve never seen one quite like that but it’s a water tank you see at carnivals. Where a person sits out on a ledge where a thrown ball to a bullseyes can get the person dunked.
Gunk Tank is what we call the tub since having kidlets. π
I guess you’ve never been to a state or county fair. Wiki will explain it to you.
Thanks DJ and AF! I was hoping it was something I could get for my backyard to put icecubes in and then dunk myself during the scorching hot summer we are surely in store for!
Well for a fee, I could show up at your house with kidlets and water balloons. π
How ya doing!
Sabres vs the Canes is on.
Teemu and the Might Schmucks are out. Go OILERS!!! (just not Pronger) π
And… you can bring yourself and your camera to our yard… lots of flowers. Untill I get there and try to care for them, that is LOL
You’ll be a pro at caring for them, and if you have any questions IVG will able to help you! And I like the lavender idea!
I’m watching the game right now. Have you heard how the Ed fans have been rioting? Ka-razy …
Danni is outside but me and Wesley are watching. He turned it on as he remembered. Stanley Cup Hockey there’s nothing like it.
Hadn’t hear of the riots… I remember the ones in Vancouver years back. But those usually aren’t hockey fans.. they’re just people looking for any excuse to do that.
… yesterday there was NO hockey at all — not even Memorial cup stuff. That was a shock lol. But they’re still lamenting the Sens poor season up here on the local sports shows — the talk is that Muckler is thinking of resigning Hasek … ugh.
Here’s a link to the Edmonton stuff. You’re right — they’re saying it’s hooligans ruining it for everyone.
It’s finally light enough that I can walk in the morning which is my favorite time.
Exquisite, AF! Really nice glow of sunlight on the trees, and I love the criss cross of branches.
Thanks, MM. I love the early morning light and also the early morning quiet.
Got your mind wrapped around the idea of starting your new job yet?
… but still quacking nervously! I think I’m in line for a great job where I can do some good work that is really appreciated!
So as not to tempt the Evil Eye, I am not going to say anything about this other job or even ask you about it.
We want to keep thatt EE looking the other way, so why distract it?
Your use of ambient light makes me so envious. As do your woods, after which we both lust heartily. Your photos have a very painterly quality that I very much appreciate… unlike mine… the doofus with a cam who points and shoots and says a Hail Larry.
Thanks IVG but really morning light is magic and I’m really just doing point and shoot too.
And besides, your flower pics are lovely.
IVG said it: looks like a painting. Beautiful!
I hope your day went better after lunch.
It went slightly better — remember that chocolate milk? I missed my mouth and it went all over my shirt. I was a total stressed out mess today … π But, I’m home now and have succesfully eaten my dinner without any major mishaps LOL … π
to meet you in person. π
Whenever I cook I’m always dropping stuff — it’s my offering to the floor gods that the meal will be delicious. Unfortunately, I don’t have a dog and therefore have to clean it up myself … π
And my nickname as a kid was spillitis. Not a meal went by that I didn’t knock over my glass of milk … I still get teased about it at family gatherings (and of course, I’m still spilling things so that doesn’t help fade the memory LOL).
I think we’re related.
I once dropped a big piping hot bowl of homemade chili as a teenager and the way it hit… everything inside mushroomed into a chili cloud that nailed every one and everything in the kitchen. The bowl was totally clean.
I also did an ugly forward roll whiel holding a bowl of brownie batter that totally hit my dad’s stereo. He turned purple, I actually thought that I had killed him. (muhahaha)
You actually get others in the crossfire?! I mostly just hit myself LOL. I can’t imagine how they’d react if my spillitis actually got them … I don’t think they’d find it so funny. And yeah, the stereo DJ — the stereo!
I have no depth perception and have been spilling things for half a century, which means that your total spill tonnage is a mere drop in my bucket.
Sometimes I just get so tired of cleaning up my spills. I imagine three dogs helps w/ that though?
on the table during meals which doesn’t help the dogs that much but they are always very attentive when I’m in the kitchen.
that clinches it… I totally LOVE YOU!!!
I thought I was the only one who had meal mishaps LOL
I have done the exact same thing, love that it was chocolate milk, .. hoisted it up and missed my mouth.
Dinner time around here is a bit hyper. What with me… and my son. We… uh.. no longer have lit candles in jelly jars at the table… someone (me) might hoist them to their lips. ACK
{{{{DJ}}}}
Yeah, candles could be a definite meal hazard around here too. LOL
That is sooo exquisitely beautiful!
But… the weird side of my brain (not the skeery one) is seeking out Bigfoot in that photo.
Who says Harry and the Henderson’s is in the Northwest… I bet they’re hiding out in Indiana. π
(Jim wears a size 15)
for a second there, I thought it said
…ain’t going there…but make sure DJ gets home safe…after the big celebration…
YAY! on the house…ENJOY!…:{)
Hello there Dada! Now we gotta get everything hooked up π
Nope, no driving anywhere if both of us have been drinking. I refuse to drive even if I’ve had just one small sip. Lost too many friends to drunk drivers.
And what’s a dunk tank … without donuts (doughnuts, in case Olivia is reading) π
Man after my own twisted heart π
I’m still looking for sage incense LOL.
with the bench and bookcase gets a thumbs up with MS NDD. So we’ll likely go that route on that project.
Steel for railings on outside deck did not pass however. Still plan to use same const methods, just looking for a suitable wood replacement for the steel.
I have access to birch and ash that could be possibility for rails. So I’m considering using less than 4′ limbs, ends tongued to X dia.
check out hdwd. closet rods…round, less snow build-up, relatively cheap, stainable…could be pretty tasty…just a thought.
I ain’t touching that one either. How was the rest of your grillin weekend? That new Weber gets so hot I think we could roast a pig in there… had to jump back from the heat a couple times last night. But we’re lovin it…
Did you see the pic I posted yesterday in your honor? Was in the afternoon lounge towards the bottom…. was supposed to lure you out, but it didn’t work, hehe.
Saw a foxglove ? pic, but wasn’t around much yesterday…busy, busy, busy…and then a couple pretty good t-stms last night, so didn’t spend much time on line.
Gotta link or am I gonna have to go searchin’?
and post it again… since mostly a different crowd, exceptin Mizz Andi, who I hope will forgive me my photographic redundancy. Yeah, we waited all night for storms that never showed up, except for light rain early this morning. Supposed to have 80% chance of storms tonight, now downgraded to 50% chance… will believe it when I see it.
Anyway, this was for O-sage-O-the Rockies
Do the right click on image firefox thingie to see larger.
IMS, that be a sage blossom. Are they already that far along down there?
Yup, that it be, thus the “o-sage-o” dedication… even though I do consider you a sage. Not merely a sage who burns sage … or would that be self-immolation? Oh, never mind!!
INDIRECT COOKING π is bliss. it’s where you push the coals aside and place the food on the grill over the uncoaled area.
Before that we only knew of direct cooking AKA burnt black stuff.
I’m eager to try that, since there was never enough room in the old dinky Smokey Joe. I’m thinking chickens… turkey breasts… slabs o’ meat, etc. Also like the idea of just putting it in and only checking back every once in a while… thx for the reminder DJ!
you probably don’t don’t need as much charcoal as you think;
and let the coals get completely grey, with little or no (my preference) flames apparent;
cook w/ lid on, creates a really effective convection effect;
additional adjustment to heat can also be accomplished by closing some of the bottom vents, either partially or completely…closing the top will generally cause fire to go out…althought, I sometimes shut everything down for the last few minutes to get a smokier flavour;
keep ashes cleaned out as well so vents are open…and in the rare circumstance you don’t know…close all vents and replace lid when finished and you’ll save some of the charcoal for next time…TMI, I know but WTH…:{)
Great tips, actually. We already figured out the less charcoal thing… thus my feeling like a roasted pig turning burgers last night! I always cook with the top on but having those bottom adjustable vents is new to me.
Appreciate the advice… oh and another thing we do is throw dead rosemary in the fire… yummm.
Well time to check outta here for a while. Gotta figure out what’s for dinner and give the doggie a treat, as she’s telling me she ate all her dinner and is ready for her biscuit!
See you folks later! Oh, and DJ, thanks for reminding me to get my cilantro planted… something I forgot to put in the ground yesterday!
Good to see ya! π
I have a tequila marinade recipe that I can’t find yet… my stuff is in storage… but this is very close.
This southwestern marinade combines tequila, lime, and cilantro to give it a great, authentic flavor. This marinade works on almost anything.
INGREDIENTS: (‘s are mine)
1/3 cup lime juice
1/3 cup olive oil
1 small jalapeno pepper, chopped *or any chili
2 tablespoons tequila or more
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced or more
1/4 teaspoon salt optional
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
PREPARATION:
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Store, refrigerated in an airtight container. Marinade seafood for about 1 hour, poultry for about 2 hours and other meats for up to 4 hours.
For a better prepartion write up
my asterisks went astray…
Plus I don’t use airtight containers… I use big ziplock baggies – easier to turn and rub that way.
the better prep recipe is NOT the same – it uses cumin.
Tequila is okay even for non-alcohol guests as the alcohol burns off. It makes a great tenderizer.
Horrible with recipes but I pasted this one. π so it’s “safe”. π It’s easy and one can add to it and make it their own. It’s a no-fail type.
That sounds great… I used to use something similar I got from Martha, but this sounds even better. Already printed it out so we can maybe use that next weekend. I’ve got some round steak I want to marinate and use for taco meat and that could be just the thing to use! Bet it’s great for chicken too…
Many thanks, and big ole smoochies! {{{DJ}}}
Ya glorious pink one, you … π
It’s official!
It’s 100% ours. It’s been recorded with the title companies…
It’s ours!!! π
We get the keys tomorrow.
Thanks for all the warm vibes and good thoughts π If ever you’re in Portland … look me up! π
W O O H O O !!!
So glad to hear the official confirmation! You and Mr. Damnit celebrate tonight and get ready to move!
Yippeeeeee! Almost as exciting as when we closed on our house 6 yrs ago…
Catch ya later, toots. Again, so great to hear the news.
This is wonderful news DJ!!! I’m so happpppppppppy for you and your family!!! π
A toast to your new home.
I called up my friend, momagainstthedraft, (Mrs. Ski from hockey – so much easier to spell out) and I didn’t realize how stressed I’ve been till I opened my mouth to SAY IT… and I could only bawl. ACKKKKK.
take your pruny bodies out of the water and head over to the beach.
