how updated the site is, but here’s an interactive map. While you can put, ahem, certain things in a hookah, most of the time it’s used to smoke flavoured tobacco. Perfectly Legal 🙂
No!!!!!! We are just sharing stories of our lives…some of the more memorable occassions. Just because I wrote my gay porn story (of which I am not embarrassed at all) first, they seem to think that our nightly stories are sexual and all that. But, I disagree…I liken us to sitting around a campfire and sharing our stories…things that make us what we are. We all have stories to share and I want to hear them all. :>)
And, no, there will be no repeat of my gay porn story for at least six months! Too bad you weren’t there! :>)
Wow, I’m sorry I missed that! And I was engaged in such banal pursuits as watering the garden and eating dinner. Not to mention the Daily Show totally rocked tonight. A couple of /Frasier/s and here I am. Wilting a bit, I will admit.
sorry to hear about the loss, at least the alternative is agreeable and not a total whackjob. Things aren’t too bad here, been chillaxing (a hip term, apparently) all evening after another workday at the hell-hole. How was your day?
Actually, the alternative is not bad, just that I went with the most obviously progressive guy who has a track record of voting the right way in the state senate. Culver (the winner) has good polling against Jim Nussle (currently a House Rep and wingnut), so hopefully he can pull it off in November. He’s got youth and the name, but can he fend off enough wingnuts? I’ll keep you posted. For me, though, any Dem who can win the governor (even Nutsack, who I voted for twice) is better than the alternative. Nussle and Steve King are the two biggest embarrassments of my state, IMNSHO.
to people in other parts of the country how extremelyl wingnutty the wingnuts here in the middle of the country are and how ANY Dem is going to be better even if they are terrible Dems. Glad you’re not too disappointed.
Actually if Ed Fallon hadn’t run against Culver, I’d have been behind Chet. He comes from an old political family up here and on the right issues he’s in the good place. Just that Fallon was the great progressive hope who only lost 26% versus Culver’s 39% with pro-lifer DLC Blouin in the middle. It could have been much worse.
Hey there dada-O…
Culver is totally acceptable to me, and I’ll vote for him more happily than I did the last time I voted for Nutsack (who actually thinks he might run for President, that’s a hoot.. he couldn’t win a caucus here).
I was rootin for the little progressive guy, and though he didn’t get trounced, he didn’t win either.
Just for Manny, Cypress was in her big performance this last weekend. She had a big role in a play about Oakland that cast her as a Latina, but with an urban black voice. It was a tough role and while I thought she was really good and believable, the African-American parents had a really hard time with her and no parent gave her positive feedback and were instead offended. She knew they would be, but that was the role she was given and she just did her best to do it well. Still, she was hurt by their reaction as she was playing a role and it did not even come close to reflecting her real self.
So, today her teacher came out and offered his opinion. He is a very critical Russian man. He said she had great fluid movement, and that he believed she was an urban woman, and her projection was perfect. He gave her an A for her performance (one of three A’s he gave).
So, a bit of vindication for her and I know I wasn’t just being a proud mom…she earned it.
as for the parent reaction, it’s always such a shame when support and encouragement is blinded for whatever reason. I hope she knows that she can never control how others react to things, especially when it comes to race, and that she was charged with giving her best wrt the performance (which she obviously did due to the praise from the instructor).
The race issue seems so important at this school and I really blame the director of the school. But, what is really great is that KamaKid and I have had real conversations about race, with no firm answers being arrived at.
I also want to believe that this experience might have had an impression on the other kids. Many of them are her friends and they all know this was a role and some even helped her achieve it. They know she was not satirical, but real and respectful.
Perhaps not the most pleasant experience to go through, especially the negativity from the Afro-American side, but certainly vindication that doing your best does not pass without notice.
Hey, she did her best given what she had, and that alone is a great life experience, despite any BS reactions. When she’s older, she’ll maybe remember this as a learning experience, but even if not, she’ll know she gave it her all. It’s all part of the bigger learning process and the little pieces at the time may seem overwhelming, but in the long run, they just make a more interesting part of the mosaic.
I had to play an “Indian” in a HS production of Annie Get Your Gun when I was 14… talk about miscasting! Didn’t leave any long lasting scars though…
Also what you were saying about her fellow classmates. A learning experience all the way around. But, it’s good that her teacher gave her a positive critique so she won’t come away w/ a bad taste for similar activities.
Yeah, O, that positive reinforcement was critical. He can be very harsh and critical, so a positive review from him was perfect. It countered the negative response and made her again proud of her performance.
That’s our Pepa… she has to be intently involved in everything … but that’s what makes terriers so much fun to have around, because they’re such nosy little busybodies they inevitably strike ‘cute’ on multiple occasions. I was thinking today that ‘enthusiastic’ will have to be her motto eventually…. She has never lacked in that department, despite human complaints (from me).
“I was skeptical that this device could actually work, and I am a pessimist.
This Ring is better than Frodo’s. I am extremely pleased with the results and I am sleeping better than I have in years.
I am the Lord of the Ring now!”

This is for real, from a 1/2 page article in our local paper…guess nothing else is going on in the world, eh. Apparently the Northamerican dist. lives here…this place is becoming as whacky as Sedona.
When I first saw it I thought it was a nose ring…glad to find out otherwise…:{)
and I slept like a rock…last night it was pretty hot, and I haven’t set up the portable swamp cooler in the BDRM yet…fact it’s been damned hot here for the last 2 wks +, but usually cools nicely at night…still 75º but have a nice breeze.
Think I’m headin’ out too…Good Luck tomorrow-Hey! you’ll be half way thru..all downhill from there.
However, I had to share my thoughts about beating Congressman Sackhead in the fall: I know Mr. Nussle, just a tiny bit. Lived in IC for 6 years, during the time he was first elected. What a@#!@#!!.
He will not win in the fall! No! I know you are not happy about the primary in Iowa, and I agree. But the Sackhead is going down and out of Iowa politics. Let him go work for Agribusiness, or shill for the religious right.
Your lovely Fall harvest is going to be a good one.
who I absolutely loathe… I hope you’re right on that one. Nussle would be the absolute worst for this state right now, but since Shrub is so unpopular around here now, I hope it will go our way again. IA does have a sad history of electing R governors though… but they were more of the so-called ‘moderate blend’ though.
I am. The sack refers to the paper sack he put over his head about 5 minutes after he entered the House of Reptiles for the first time. He delivered his first speech while having that bag over his head. He should have left it there, IMO.
I am NOT speaking of Vilsack – that just occurred to me! by no means! ( Iowa is odd about governors, Gov.
Brain-dead was elected while we were there, couldn’t understand why).
Anyway, being brain dead now, have now exhausted the contents of the empty shell above my shoulders. I’ve spent three nights up without much sleep and have just hit the wall. Day 666 took it out of me and I didn’t even make it over to Hell.
must leave as quickly as I came in. Good-night, everyone.
this case, that’s a good thing 🙂
it’s humid tonight due to the “rain”storm earlier.
These lounges are really making me jones for a hookah. Tabacky or Wacky, it would all be good. :>)
want to invest in a good hookah, although I enjoy the real life lounges for the cool crowd and atmosphere. So what’s this I hear about the Kama-kid?
I didn’t know you could smoke a hookah in public? Where?
how updated the site is, but here’s an interactive map. While you can put, ahem, certain things in a hookah, most of the time it’s used to smoke flavoured tobacco. Perfectly Legal 🙂
Amazing.. I didn’t know.
Here’s a NYTimes article that ran about a month or two ago on the Hookah fad.
sub. req.
the more traditional pipe is also available:
ROFL…That looks like a spliff I smoked in High School (though that is another story). :>)
No way…O it is your turn. However, given that Manny is with us, if you can convince him to go next, you might be off for a night! :>)
if this involves me telling embarrasing stories I’m gonna need more to drink than a couple of beers O:)
Glad I’m off the hook for a while at least. I’ll have to dredge hard and long for a good one…
Here ya go Manny …
😉
Right on O….get him in the mood and he will take your place! But, I am still waiting! :>)
No!!!!!! We are just sharing stories of our lives…some of the more memorable occassions. Just because I wrote my gay porn story (of which I am not embarrassed at all) first, they seem to think that our nightly stories are sexual and all that. but not tonight. I’m too verklempt at today’s antics in the Senate…
Well O was technically next, but I have no doubt she would be ok with giving up her space for you. :>)
I’ll hold you to this, you know!
need to master that search function to figure things out, eh? Story. Hmmmm. I’ll see what I can come up with.
for governor… oh well, I didn’t think he’d win and I can take the guy who did win, but still….
So, how’s everyone doing since I missed the 6/6/6/ lounge?
We’re all sitting around looking at our new pointy tails and feeling our horns and trying to learn to use our new tridents without hurting ourselves.
Wow, I’m sorry I missed that! And I was engaged in such banal pursuits as watering the garden and eating dinner. Not to mention the Daily Show totally rocked tonight. A couple of /Frasier/s and here I am. Wilting a bit, I will admit.
We need rain bad here… send some my way, please?
We didn’t have any today either … coming the end of the week though. I had to water tonight too.
How’d you make out today w/ that stuff for the client? All under control I hope.
Nope, no rain in sight until very slight chance Sat. night.
Finished the report this afternoon, off to client. They’re apparently very happy. Now send us more work. Another day in market research land…
$ … 🙂

At least you’ve got a better candidate…I hope… than the one pre-selected for Colo.; The pro-life Ritter, and I don’t mean Tex…:{)

My, it’s smoky in here * koff koff *

that she worked hard and was respectful, sounds like this is a great learning experience for all parties.
Perhaps not the most pleasant experience to go through, especially the negativity from the Afro-American side, but certainly vindication that doing your best does not pass without notice.

as she surveys her kingdom again from her throne the other day…
All is well… no bunnies are in sight… another relaxing night in the Cabana Room Lounge…
you’ve got there IVG, she’s clearly not happy about the bunny deficiency she’s surveying before her.
That’s our Pepa… she has to be intently involved in everything … but that’s what makes terriers so much fun to have around, because they’re such nosy little busybodies they inevitably strike ‘cute’ on multiple occasions. Another happy testimonial:

When I first saw it I thought it was a nose ring…glad to find out otherwise…:{)
That’s what I thought too.
You’d think these would be more comforable than those nose strip things …
but depending how snug this is those 2 pressure nodes could be pretty unpleasant for long periods, don’t you think?
I esp. like the photo on their HP…the guy’s got it on his rt. pinkie…D’oh!
Think I’ll save my $50…spend it on some good beer…:{)
They did say not to leave it on for >12hrs … But I’d rather have something on my finger than my nose. 🙂
Hey … just had a thought — wasn’t last night when you drank all that wine? Maybe that’s why you couldn’t sleep.
and I slept like a rock…last night it was pretty hot, and I haven’t set up the portable swamp cooler in the BDRM yet…fact it’s been damned hot here for the last 2 wks +, but usually cools nicely at night…still 75º but have a nice breeze.

Night O, Manny, K, et al.
Catch ya on the flip.
Peace
Gotta come in for a minute, saw the Hookah. Must speak to IVG.
that sense of urgency scares me a bit, lol.. so what’s up gardening way your way, KS?

Just for Olivia if she’s still awake and there….

Another day, another outrage, until we take this country back to sanity…. Hugssssss
… had a hard time getting up yesterday morning, and I’ve got an early morning meeting today — and drama is on the agenda, ugh — then back to FCH.
Night d, sweet dreams — thx again for earlier. Night other froggy lurkers.
