My neighbor brought over some fresh rosemary. It smells wonderful. They said to hang it to dry. It’s the size of a small tree. 🙂 (he used to be a political science and history teacher AND he’s an activist) I love my new surroundings… and neighbors. 🙂
Danni is playing in the yard after a long day of biking with her new friend.
Hey there DJ… glad to hear you’re settling in pretty well, and your neighbors sound really lovely in their welcoming approach. I’m hoping you’re feeling better than when last I saw you post! Really a blah day here for me … didn’t feel too well and given the chilly temps (didn’t break 57 today), I had no motivation to go work in the garden.
Rosemary is wonderful stuff… We always grow a couple of pots of it during summer, and (always unsuccessfully) over winter it. Here’s a tip though… when you do have some dry stuff, throw it on the grill when you’re cooking. Smells great and gives a nice flavor to certain meats. Oh, and I’m going to make your tequila marinade soon, when it’s more conducive grilling weather.
Oooooh. Very nice. We still haven’t gotten any herbs planted this year (except for some chives that just refuse to die no matter what we do to them) so I’m kind of out of luck unless I want to use the bottled stuff. I have some Copper River salmon waiting to go on the grill right now that I prepared with garlic-flavored olive oil and lemon juice; there are some baked potatoes already on the upper shelf just cookin’ away. Once the spuds are about 10 minutes away from done the salmon goes on, and then, my friends, we’re havin’ us some good eatin.
Come on over. Just get on I-5, exit at Seattle, turn left, turn left and we’re the second house from the corner.
Hi Olivia :o)
To tell you the truth, I’ve been in a foul mood for a while now. My sensitivity to events seems a lot more acute lately and I’m having a hard time keeping it from spilling over into RL. Meaning that any unsuspecting wingnuts are in grave danger if they stumble across my path while I’m feeling this way ;o)
That’s fine, but I haven’t posted there in a couple of months. Another victim of my mood. I guess I should get back to it, but it hasn’t felt like a priority in a while.
I can’t even get DK to load. It comes back saying it’s a zero length document. Funny thing is, when I load it up at the command line on my Linux box it comes through just fine. Tough to read, though.
I’d contact c’t but he has other things on his mind right now.
I often go to Freeperville because I want to understand what they think, but this quote was so over the top.

And what, “religious leader” Jimmy Carter, precisely, is wrong with torture?
?
I don’t see anything about it in the 10 Commandments. No “thou shalt not apply thumbscrews.” This lofty holier-than-us outrage over probably non-existent torture incidents is driving me insane. If we’re torturing captured terrorists, GREAT. I have zero moral problem with that, and I’m a devout Christian.
I hate how people just assume torture is always wrong when making arguments. Support your point, please. What is immoral about torture?

Well judging by their own words that yes he or she must be insane and are devout in their insanity but certainly not christian no matter what they tell themselves. I can see it now, the next catch phrase from Christians is going to be ‘If you’re not for Torture than you’re not really a good Christian’.
I do the same thing. Only I don’t go there to understand them. I go there to understand what we’re up against. There is no hope of ever changing the minds of the majority of people that post there. The level of ignorance, for one thing, is astounding. Not just educational ignorance, but practical and emotional ignorance. It’s scary when you realize the depth of their hatred. They’re truly dangerous.
And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
And of course Jesus follows this up with the parable of the Good Samaritan.
Anyone who advocates torture is not a Christian, and anyone who tries to use the Old Testament to justify torture is apparently not aware that Jesus fulfilled all of the Law and replaced it with the two commandments above.
ROFLMAO…well, I never! Being called a Christian was the funniest thing I have heard in a long time, and I hope I never hear it again! Oh my Goddess, I am still laughing. Trust me, most right wing christians would consider me the spawn of satan and I have no problem with that! :>)
I was just amazed that this guy called himself a Christian and couldn’t figure out what was wrong with torture! Oh, Jesus wept. :>)
Hi all.
Watched the Tony Awards this evening.
Made me more depressed than ever.
Award after award going to plays from 30+ years ago, or to plays although written recently, basically capitalize on nostalgia for times past (“Jersy Boys”).
So, now that Stephen Sondheim’s not writing new material, does the American theatre all just roll up and die? I’m not sure what this signifies about current American culture, but I have a bad feeling…
And in the meantime, more and more productions making a great deal of money and continuing their existence by ‘creating’ 90 minute, intermission-free “Cliff’s Notes” versions of their productions, so that they can play in Las Vegas Casino’s new, custom-built ‘theatres.’
A sure thing that any of the revivals of plays by Clifford Odets, Eugene O’Neill, Edward Albee, August Wilson or whoever — are not going to play there.
I’m not happy… 🙁
Hey, the completely-reliable and impeccably-credentialled “News of the World” today reports that Britney is preparing to divorce the Federline husband, cited multiple infidelities, and also leaking confidential Britney-info to the press. It’s unclear as to which of these issues was considered more important.
Glad to see tht you’re back. Believe it or not, it took me over an hour last night to throw much of the crap I had accumulated there (including Winkie) and fit everything else back in the suitcase.

I think I turned left several times after the first G. Bush 🙂
I’m out of coffee creamer.
Got any Vanilla ice cream?
How’ve you been lately?

I can understand the foul mood … At times it’s just overwhelming. And the amount of it as well is depressing…
Things are okay here. Hey, I’d like to add your blog to my list if that’s okay w/ you.
That’s fine, but I haven’t posted there in a couple of months. Another victim of my mood. I guess I should get back to it, but it hasn’t felt like a priority in a while.

Nope! Had to make a run to the store anyway as I was also out of tofu. So, I got the creamer that I like–soy chocolate!!
Anyone able to get in kos? Booman back?

I get a blank page, it’s coming in and out….too many people or what?
It sounds kinda like site overload, but it’s hard to tell from out here.
mac osx safari, dsl
Loads up fine for me too on a PC with IE and cable modem.
I wonder if it’s a browser problem.
Goes in and out for me.
I found this quote so horrific.

Um…Shall I count the ways?

Wrong premise, if I may so bold.
Kamakhya is a self-confessed “devout Christian.” Didn’t say anything about actually following the teachings.
you re-read the original comment by Kama…you will no doubt note that the attributed quote is by “TeenagedConservative”.
Peace
Well so it is.
In order to a-tone (LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!) for my gross error I will now venture into the garden and commit seppuku.
Thereby discharging my debt to my honored ancestors.

Why so glum? Don’t you know that Britney Spears is pregnant again, and Jennifer Aniston finally found a new boyfriend? ;o)

But, that good news may be outweighed by the shocking news (according to the Enquirer) that Brad may not be the father of Angelina’s baby.
Not that I read the Enquirer. I just saw the headline at the checkout line at the airport news kiosk.
Really.
I just flew in from Vegas and boy are my arms tired.
Mine are too… 🙂
Glad to see tht you’re back. Believe it or not, it took me over an hour last night to throw much of the crap I had accumulated there (including Winkie) and fit everything else back in the suitcase.
I was smushing a lot of extra stuff into my bag this morning.
BTW, we squeezed in time to go see the Chihuly ceiling at the Bellagio today too. Very cool.
Kewl!
Welcome home …
Did you get pix CG? 🙂
I have some…
Let’s get this thread back on topic.

It’s good that you’re around to keep us all in line. 😉
Yeah, this place has gotten sloppy since I ‘Got Away From It All’ for a couple of months.
