May the 4’s be with you
That’s a peony for those of you who didn’t know (like me).
Morning Miss Andi!!!!
That was a great diary you wrote. Did you do it as a podcast, too?
Thank you. Yes I did it as a podcast also with music and more info.
TYhe link to the podcast is at the bottom of the dairy.
reading skills. At any rate, it ought to have made a great one. The next time one of laptops is in the vicinity of some wifi, I’ll have to get it.
Great. You can leave me a recorded message after you hear it.
Outstanding.
Thank you!!!!!
Heh, sorry for being late. I didn’t set my alarm, so I overslept by an hour. The good thing is that although I can’t read the WSJ now, I feel a little more rested than usual. π
Not to worry. It’s even okay if you don’t come to the cafe at all — it’s not a required course. π
sleep is a good thing once in awhile LOL
Insomnia’s the pits. I’m a long time sufferer. About the only thing I’ve found that helps is diphenhydramine (sp?) it goes by the brand name “simply sleep” among others. It works, but I’m not a big fan of chemical solutions, so I only take it when I’m really crogged.
I used to suffer from insomnia very badly, but it’s gotten better. I tried all the over the counter and some prescribed, but didn’t like the chemical solution either.
It’s funny how some work for some people. FMom will use Tylenol PM sometimes and I told her the ingredient that makes her sleepy is benedryl. So I got her some benedryl and she said it didn’t work, but the T-PM does. I can’t figure that one out.
Simply Sleep occasionally too, like the last couple of nights when I’ve had to get a good night sleep so I could make it to my volunteer stint in the mornings…fortunately I’m off the hook for the rest of the week so I can go back to my usual evening sloth… π
Ahh
A peony for your thoughts π
Good Andi, Refinish and Psi.
Morning FamilyMan!!!
Morning Refinish. That is a good diary you wrote.
How’re ya doing today?
Thank you. I am doing great!!!! Have to go get ready for work in the next couple of minutes. LOL
I should have known. I really do need some of your energy.
LOL I don’t let things keep me down long. Too much to do.
I feel like I have too much to do, but I make sure I get the slack time in. π
ROTFLMAO!!!! ON that note I will ehad out to get ready for my work day. Have a great one.
Have a good day Refinish.
So what’s bopping in ‘bama?
Things don’t bop around here, they slowly roll along. π
You got plans other than work today?
does tomorrow count — ’cause I’m getting a haircut then.
Speaking of rolling, the dogs think we should roll out.
To quote data: later.
Later Andi.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo ….
LOL
Isn’t it time you need a haircut Olivia? π
it is actually … π
You could let it grow.
… maybe I’m not so dreading the hair cut.
Thanks for that FM!
I’m off to work … see you!
and now the scrolling wheel makes a funny noise. I hate when that happens.
it’s almost Tuesday bed-time for me. Good-evening, -afternoon, -morning to the rest of y’all.
Good anytime of day to you keres.
I’ll have to try that with the pet hair thing.
It used to be that I only had to de-gunk (that’s a technical term) the roller-ball in my mouse. But now with the optical mouse, the thing to clean is the roller wheel – and it’s not as user friendly to clean (i.e. I had to take the whole mouse apart to do it).
I hate mechanisms that are not easily user maintainable/fixable. Especially since I’ll do it myself anyway.
I know what you mean about not user friendly to take apart. I try to stay away from doing stuff like that becuase I destroy so much stuff trying to get into it, that it’s no use to put it back together.
I know there are engineers laughing somewhere about people like me trying to fix their own stuff. π
I’m actually a bit of an electro-mechanical wiz-kid (except for the “kid” part). So I rarely trash what I’m working on. Still, I’m one of those people who gets inordinately peeved at things that could be better designed, especially where repairability and durability are concerned.
I also believe that if men had to clean the underside of the stove-top that there would be less things to get gunked and no sharp edges.
And what sort of idiot puts an oil filter where you have to be triple jointed to reach it, and it gushes half it’s contents onto the engine block before you can flip it upside down??????
I agree completely. BTW years ago I used to be on a house cleaning crew. My job was cleaning the stoves. I had to take them apart and clean ever inch. Even in the cleanest houses it’s amazing what you find inside stoves.
I always had wished I had paid more attention to mechanics and stuff like that, but putting in a cd burner in an old computer was a major accomplishment for me.
It’s nighty-night for me.
Here’s a down-under bloom for “Blooming Tuesday.”
The wild Black Kangaroo Paw.
That’s beutiful keres.
Have a pleasant night.
I like the flower but I’m even more taken by the way you composed the shot.
Excellent, A+ & a “10” in all categories. I love the progression through the depth of field to the [infinity] quality of the background. Each progression
through the depth of field seems to offer safe haven to the preceeding one..
WOW!!!
A good Wednesday morning to you all. It’s so foggy outside right now that I can hardly see half of our block from the window. I can however see the dog, and she’s soaked. I’ll grab the towels and let her in in a bit.
How is it that we’re still on the same thread as yesterday?
Oh, and thanks for the complements on the above photo.
Hello Again, Keres!
There should be a blues song called, WET DOG BLUES π
YES!
I might just have to write it myself.
Luna is stretched out on the couch. Albert (who, poor baby had to have all but one tooth on the right side of his mouth pulled do to a nasty abcess is snuggled next to the fire. And, I’m still in my jammies and robe. Imogen/myriad is in Canberra (Australia’s capitol) until Friday night, so it’s just the critters and me until then.
The poor little dear — all his teeth but one!
Yeah what’s this about Albert. Wet dogs are one thing, but Albert is a completely different other.
You take care of Albert. He’s one of my favorites.
Mr Instigator … π
I came across this today and thought you’d appreciate it FM:
A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining,
the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing,
and the lawn mower is broken.
–James Dent
A very wise man. It sounds like something I would have said. π
OK, reading lesson. He still has all his teeth on the left.
He has always had a crooked lower right front tooth. It caused a boney mass to develope under his jaw, which became infected. All five of his right side lower cheek teeth became involved. Because rabbits’ teeth grow continuously, without the lower cheek teeth to wear against, the upper five had to be removed as well. Although, they had to leave one, and part of the root of one broke off, so he’ll have to have surgery again in a month to remove those.
We left the right upper front tooth in place because we can easily trim it (as we have been doing because it didn’t mesh with the twisted lower tooth).
Because of the aggressive nature of bone abcessing rabbits, and because he had a nearly deadly pasturella infection when he was six-monts-old, he’ll have to stay on anti-biotics the rest of his life. In vet bills alone, he’s easily a “thousand-dollar rabbit” at this point. But that’s what money is for.
BTW, I just broke a filling, but am waiting till next payday to get it fixed. One has to have priorities.
“Because of the aggressive nature of bone abcesses in rabbits”
OK I feel better now knowing that Albert is OK.
Then again, he live with ya’ll and how could he not be.
LOL … yes I realized after I hit post that it was just the one side …
What’s this about your filling? Poor dear keres … π
Good Morning keres.
Wintery fog. That’s something to look forward to.
It is nice, as long as it clears sometime soon. I lived in Oregon years ago, and could never get used to the foggy drizzly oppressive grey of it all.
It was 108 here in drizzily Oregon this week, my dear π
Now.. About Albert. Is he okay? How is he going to eat all that juicy fruit and cabbage with one damn toof?
Eeeeekkkkk. Hot and humid – my ultimate nemesis. Everyone used to talk about the wonderful mild summer days, and I’d be drenched in sweat, which couldn’t evaporate due to the humidity, vainly trying to cool off.
I understand that other people like the weather there, but I like it very dry and sunny. Otherswise I get depressed and cranky.
Different strokes and all.
I’m sorry about your broken filling…
Hey as to humidity, I hate that too. I lived on Guam for a few years and OMG!!! Yes, dry heat is mucho mucho better than wet heat.
My husband LOVES Australia as most sailors do π Perth, and the other names now escape me…
I really can’t tolerate humidity. It’s the one thing that totally puts me out of my comfort zone. Snow, no problem, scorching dry heat, also no problem. Mild heat and humidity and I’m miserable.
The Green Rosella flock is “cussick, cussiking” away outside.
If your husband ever finds himself in the port of Hobart (Tasmania), let me know and we’ll say “hi.”
You would be miserable living were I do then.
Hell I’m miserable living where I do. π
I took this a few minutes ago.
Albert just ate some carrot tops, which is his first food since I brought him home yesterday. Since he’s at least a pound over weight, we’re not terribly worried that he’ll starve to death before he gets his appetite back.
WOW!!
Hey, we’re in a new cafe now… hop on over π
Oh and my husband is no longer in the Uncle Sam’s Canoe Club. One day I would love love love to go to Tasmania and New Zealand… I just read a kidlet’s book called Stowaway a journal of a young man on Cook’s ship.
Book launch today, and I find that I’m surprisingly nervous. I’ve got a diary up on it here, and another over at big orange.
No tea today. Caffeine would be gilding the lily.
Congrats and good luck Kelly.
I hope slacking is going well for you today.
I’ve still got family visiting so it’s been very little slacking. Hopefully in a week or two I can get back to my routine.
In a week or two?!
Doesn’t your family realize we need you too?
π
Good morning everyone …
You know family, they don’t look at my computer time and naps as productive. π
oh well … as long as you pop in and say hi then.
π
Gotta run …. running late! See you later today … Bye!
Have a good day.
Howdy all, I guess I’ll just jump in quickly here by Olivia to say I hope everyone has a great Tuesday going … just how many days left till the weekend? lol… Another mundane-o-matic day here in cubihell, so I’ll spare you all the details.
Little rumble showers came through again early this morning and watered a little bit for me, and storms are in the forecast for tonight, so if that comes to pass, I may be parked on the porch watching fools try to drive through the intersection if it floods… that’s always an amusing passtime!
Anyway, top of the day to you all, Andi, FM, Olivia, RF, Psi, Omir, Kelly (congrats again!!!), keres (sleep well) and whoever I missed (I need to take better notes!). Oh, and FM, thanks for the amusing comments over at the b-thingie … I did do that post just for you, you know… Now how high did that rate on the guiltometer? Hehe. I just hope I can get back into a more regular groove with that soon… but encouragement does help.
Catch all you folks later, then! It may be a blog free evening tonight depending on the weather, and the fact that I positively must get to bed earlier!
Good Luck with the book launch. I recommended at both places.
Much appreciated.
Family is up and stirring around. Gotta get breakfast ready.
Everyone have a good day in the pond.
I finally managed to get some reasonable sleep last night. The current temperature is 61 degrees at 6 AM. Much better than the last few days.
My granddaughter finally bullied me into putting on my swimming suit yesterday and going outside and letting her spray me down with the hose. She was mad because I had a better sprayer than she did . . . until she managed to get it away from me. Then I was mad because water kept getting into my eyes.
We finished it up by letting her choose what kind of pizza we had for supper (so I didn’t have to cook anything). Great day all around.
Then my wife came home and told me she got four free tickets to tonight’s baseball game. Her boss won them in a company drawing, but he’s out of town this week and can’t use them so he just gave them to her. They’re good tickets, on the front row of the 200 level of Safeco Field on the third-base side. We could have used those tickets three weeks ago. I bought a birthday package for my son on his 30th birthday and had a message put up on the big screen, but unfortunately where we were sitting the glare from the sun made the message impossible to see.
So we’ll be out at the ballpark tonight, the weather is supposed to be much cooler, and we might even have a chance of beating Toronto for the second day in a row.
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks π
Havea great time OMIR!!!!!!
I’m alive, sort of, will be checking in throughout the day after an first-thing-in-the-morning meeting.
Hey there Manny! Just a quick hi, since I must get back to work as well. Glad you liked the hibiscus! Hoping for cooler weather for you for today, but I suppose that’s too much to ask of AZ, eh?
I’m jumping back in for a minute. Seem the family is taken care of for awhile.
Good mornoonevenight to you Manny. Hope your day goes smoothly and it doesn’t get too hot.
Hello IVG. Hope the samething for you as Manny and thanks for the post on your b. π
I was supposed to be involved in a big landscape demolition project this morning but the guy with the backhoe isn’t finished yet so I escaped temporarily.
I’m an insomniac also but have slept pretty well despite the heat thanks to alcohol. It doesn’t always work; sometimes it and other remedies such as over the counter stuff, has the opposite reaction. Sometimes I can get some relief through acupuncture but not in the middle of the night!
Hi soup. Yep heat is a big deterent to sleep.
Hey Soup,
For me I have to be very careful with the alcohol sleep remedy. In the heat, wine goes STRAIGHT to my head and wicked fast. I was at a wine seminar and I asked if that was common or just me and the lady laughed and said it’s very common. The hotter it is… the faster the wine will hit you. She laughed because it wasn’t a stupid ? but she’d been doing the winetrain gig for years and no one was ever brave enough to ask it π
Red, red, wine
Goes to my hea..head
and super fast in the heat. π
Well, got my brownie points for the next few months after two very s-l-o-w mornings at church…especially today since the assistant rector had to go to the dentist, leaving me all by my lonesome. Tried to get into the Cafe, but the only computer was an ancient iMac (probably Rev A or B), with Internet Explorer (ugh) that couldn’t handle all the images on the front page, most likely. Fortunately I brought along plenty of reading material…
Tomorrow is back to the joys of domesticity; while I was working I tried to figure out what needed to be done around here, and who best to do it, me or the spouse. Figure I’ll get those lists typed up tonight, so we can go over them. I also will probably try to finish up the kitchen work this evening; would be nice to know I’ve got one room done, at least.
Have a great rest of the day…
Hey Cali! π
I tried to do lists… but I spent too much time on them, discussing them, debating them, shredding them up, then re-writing em… than the chores on the list would have taken π
Now I just point my finger at the project or area… and say “do it!” π
7-Eleven registered the term “brainfreeze” in 1994.
Brainfreeze is also known as an “Ice Cream Headache”, and “Frozen Brain Syndrome”
Your brain DOES NOT actually freeze. NO damage is caused by brainfreeze.
Whew! I was worried there.
Simply put, Brainfreeze occurs when the Slurpee (or anything cold) touches the roof of your mouth, the collection of nerves in the roof of your mouth (called the spheno-palantine ganglion) go into a spasm (a spasm is like a cramp). These nerves tell the brain blood vessels to get bigger or “dilate”. When our brain’s blood vessels get big, we get headaches.
So, the best way to avoid getting brainfreeze is to keep the Slurpee from the roof of your mouth.
Does that mean we should deepthroat our softees? but is that possible??
lo n g e s t thread ever! Come on over to Happy Hour. The pony awaits you
