Enough enlightenment from this morning.
It’s time for beer!
Anybody around or do George and I get to drink all the beer by ourselves?
Just got home …
How are you and George this evening?
Hi Olivia. We’re doing fine. We both had a nice long nap.
How’s your day so far?
The good part is just getting started lol.
It was 100F w/ humidity today.
I really don’t see how you are standing it.
The high down here today was 89F. Do things seem turned around or something. π
Lot’s of ice cream helps.
The grass is all yellow and dead looking too.
You’ve got the grass I want!
I was wrong. They predicted 89 but we’re up to 93 and it feels like 96. But it’s overcast and we had a big storm yesterday, so my grass is growing before my eyes. π
Eat that ice cream and stay cool.
How’s the company?
You’ve heard before if you can’t say anything good….
I need a vacation. :~)
So let’s dream here … where would you go if you could take your vacation?
I think I’d like to go back to the mountains, but during the winter.
For summer, I don’t really know. Someplace where it’s not hot, that’s for sure.
Where’s your perfect vacation place? Anywhere in the world.
If it’s to get away and do nothing, then someplace w/ no people around, like lazing about at the cottage for instance. Someplace where minimal functioning is expected.
But if that’s not the case, then someplace new and different to explore and learn about.
I think if it was the world thing, I’ve always liked archaeology and would like to go to Italy, Greece, Egypt and Central America to see the ruins.
If not that, then drinking a beer in Bavaria would be good. π
And I’d love to go to Tuscany … for the food. π
You mean you wouldn’t want to go to Ireland for the haggis?
That should have been Scotland. π
Heh! You corrected yourself before I could do it… you catch on fast for a geezer. Maybe Ireland for the corned beef and Guinness?
Just got home myself, and damn, it’s another hot one here today, despite the rain last night. Last I looked it was 90 actual with 97 heat index, so Olivia has us beat again, FM!
How’s everyone doing otherwise?
Hi IVG. Yeah that Olivia is just too competitive. π
Doing fine here. Good to see you this afternoon.
Great to see you too, FM, even though I can’t stick around too long since I still want to see if I can get any good pics tonight before it gets dark. Hibiscus are still going nuts out there … it’s fantastic to see them so happy and floriferous.
Need to make this an early evening tonight (yeah I know I always say that) due to late night posting last night. Tomorrow I have a performance review at work, so I’m very apprehensive about that, so need to get well rested tonight, just in case I have to justify my very existence tomorrow, lol.
What Olivia said below about the post on your b.
I hope everything goes good tomorrow. Hell your IVG, how could it not.
Thx for the props and vote of confidence … but the way they have been letting people go the last year, I fear I’m close to being one of the axed. But I do know that it couldn’t happen much before the end of Aug, since I’m the French analyst on a major European study and no one else can do it, hehe. Will let you guys know how it turns out.
We survived another cubihell day … What’s on your agenda for the night? And great post at your b … π
Thx for the props there … got a question though… when I load the b at work in IE7 the spacing is all messed up with the text … but looks fine in Firefox. Does it look goofy on your end? (YES, I Know I need to learn the HTML!) Need to fix that font glitch at some point tonight, but don’t know if I have the oomph to get it done. I may just watch some TV and go to bed shortly after TDS.
I noticed that too … I have IE at work as well and it was off, but looks great w/ FF.
You do have to do the html thing. It’s easy! You’re a genious in RL, so you’ll pick it up quick. π
And good luck tomorrow w/ your perf. review. Like FM said, you’ll do great!
Hmm, must be something with IE (Of course!). I guess I should at least learn some basic font alignment tags to avoid that, and how that one font switched in the middle, I have no idea … blogger is really a glitchy, capricious program!
Now, I may but do not promise, have a fun little post up later tonight, depending on how/whether my energy holds out. I got the surprise one done, now this other one that’s been bugging me might get done too, but like I said, don’t hold your breath! Blue looks terrible on faces of the people I like so much!
I’ll check in later at your b.
(And if you used the html window, you wouldn’t have that text changing on you! :P)
I know! I’m going to study the code to see if I can figure out where it goofed up… might be instructive. Well, hate to say it, but I need to scoot now while I still have light outside!
Stay cool Olivia! You can have my ice cream (just not the heavenly fresh peach from Bauder’s though… hehe)
See you all later!
Hey Olivia, [my favorite girl name, although Olive is nice.]
I see you were sneaking around my comments & photos last night. I also take note of the heat index there. Sorry to hear that. Just remember the last winter when you were swearing against the subzero cold & I hope soon you`ll get the average temp.
I did miss you guys last night … but it was nice to read about your young friend … sounds like a cool little dude. π
When you need a boost, he`s the guy. He`ll have you laughing your troubles away.
He is the perfect example of innocence.
Speaking of innocence, my girlfriend Olive is not; really.

And on day 5, this little guy is doing great.

to my question in the last cafe. I appreciate your taking the time to give me all that detail about how you created the shots. I find that knowing the mechanics of a process let me enjoy the finished work even more.
You`re very welcome. What do you use to process your photos, if I may ask?
All I do is digital so no film processing; graphics software is Paint Shop Pro.
π
I’m still alive so there were no residual ill effects either. π
You are a brave woman … π
Hi Olivia, Albert is waiting just for you at the Dog Blog.
On my way … π
I hate to bale so early, but I’ve got to start dinner.
I’ll be back in awhile.
How’d you guys bust the margins with only 44 comments and nary a mention of mud wrestling or yetis?
How are you feeling tonight?
What goes on in these cafes during the day?
Just a quick hit and run. I’m up too late and have to go do conference things soon. Hope everyone is having a good evening.

Do you like his cat`s eyes?
It’s an amazing photo!
Olivia, I didn`t mean to be repetative. These are the eyespots on the moth.
The cat`s left eye.
This is the cat trying to look at one of my 3D pix.

if he was able to see 3d
He must have seen the 3d because he now leaps between the pairs of doves in the yard. So far he hasn`t caught one, or two. This is the one I showed him, since you were asking about them a few nights ago, or maybe last night. It`s a relatively simple one but the effect remains.

I can see that one to good effect at a point where my nose is about 36″ from the screen.
Get a bigger screen. Just kidding.
The coral this hermit is on is one of my prized ones. It started as a brown growth, as big as a fingernail. In three years, its grown over the rock base & has begun to grow branches. A very fragile coral I took the shot to document any harm to it due to the crabs presence on it. I have much larger & owned some for a lot longer than this one, but it`s the one I gauge the health of tthe tank on. If something is wrong with that coral, I check everything. The crab is ok also I guess. It`s rare you get to see inside of one`s shell like this.

Are those short tubes it’s eyes?
Yes those tubes are eye stalks. Most people will pick something as a gauge to give a visual indicator on the tank condition. As one gets more used to the tank a quick once over visually will tell you if something is wrong. At that point it may often be too late to correct the problem without any loss. So I picked what I perceive to be the most sensitive specimen relative to subtle changes in chemistry, temperature or salinity, ect ect. Instead of constantly verifying the parameters with chemical tests or whatever I use that coral as my canary. Capich?
Here`s PIPPI LONGSTOCKING. You can see the eyestalks a little better, I think.

the whole subject is just fascinating for me. Most I’ve ever known is friends with the small 12″ by 30″ tanks, and now Cabella’s and some of the other local outdoor stores have larger tanks a few feet wide and several feet long.
A poor pic of a cactus garden here. When I clean the yard [it`s too hot]
I`ll post a complete pic. 16 ft. high.

if we don’t get any more rain here in ND I’ll be installing one of those!
Hope for rain. Goodnight to you & anyone else who needs one.
Great photos once again. My vicarious entry into the tanks.
