Clean bar and plenty of room.
I’m starting dinner early today, so I’ll be back in a little while.
All drinks are on George.
[Chicken Lettuce Wraps Maria de Medeiros]
The Bun Thit Suong Nuon Xa recipe came out great last night. I’ll need to make a different sauce though as it wasn’t hot enough.
duh… got link?
Chicken Lettuce Wraps
and relatively healthy, depending on what type of ground meat (check the label for fat content).
Question from the chicken-hearted: which is milder, the jalapeño or serrano pepper? I might want to make these for dinner some evening, but would like to keep the heat toned down…
Definitely a keeper…
Hey guys. Don’t give me a “4” tonight for just saying Hi! Instead go to the front page, click on “Standing on Blood and Oil”, and read that. Then click on the author Antifa and read another post “I can think of Elephants” that they wrote a couple of days ago, if you missed it. If you have already “been there and done that”, forget this. Thanks for listening!
I’m about to head home from work. We did a lot of digging and raking and I’m not tired but definitely sleepy-think I’ll fix some tea to go & crank up the R&B station. Dance practice again tonight and the temp’s supposed to be in the easy-to-sleep range
Mornin’ all.
It’s a late moring for me (it’s after a little after nine, and I just got out of bed :o).
ALbart is hopping about and it’s the first sunny day in a week. Yay!
Morning keres. We just got through with dinner.
Glad to hear Albert hopping around.
And now he’s right on schedule for his mid-day (as in most of the day) nap.
His belly is gurgling something fierce (I can hear it from 10 feet away), so I’m gonna go chop him up some more veggies.
And get some laundry started, as this is first day in over a week that I can hang it outside.
Take care of Albert and enjoy your time outside.
Hey FM, did that download ever finish? I guess I should have asked you whether you were on broadband or dialup before I pointed you to a 700 MB ISO file. :/
Hey folks! How’s it going?
Okay, so spouse and I are on the monthly visit program to the doctor till she sees some movement downward on the scale. She wants us each to lose 5 pounds before our next visit…aaack! ๐ ๐ (that’s one frownyface for each of us).
Going to go clear out the fridge and freezer and see what we’ve got that’s safe to eat…I know I’ve got a couple of pork tenderloins in the freezer, and two excellent Weight Watchers recipes from mom-in-law’s latest cookbook (and they’re both slow-cooker recipes, hurray!), so one of those should be good for Sunday at least.
sigh If I’m a good girl and give up the good stuff, and the world ends the day after I reach my goal weight, I’m going to be highly pissed… lol
I know Andi and Jim are on dial-up, and I’m sure there are a few others…how does your computer do with BooTrib when folks embed YouTube or other videos? I know that Chris puts them on the front page sometimes as part of his diaries, and there’s a diary asking how you embed them in a diary.
My problem is that it basically screws up the display on my Firefox; I don’t know if it’s a Mac problem, or if it’s a conflict with the Adblock extension which I use to avoid the ads at dKos when I wander over there. (I installed that after the pie fights.)
I think some input from dial-up users would be appreciated…
We now return you to your regularly scheduled slack…
I had a discussion about that with someone who was sending heavy files to a group of people & they wouldn`t listen to me saying no one had complained. It`s nice of you to ask for input of those on dial-up.
As I`m now officially back on slack time, I`ll take this oportunity to reward you with a “Copperband” butterfly.

with the fake eye at a glance it’s hard to tell if that one is coming or going. Great defense mechanism I suppose
It would seem that the more predators one has, the more specialized their defenses are, in addition to the way they evolved to fill a niche in their habitat. This fish has evolved a long snout to reach into cracks in the
substrate to get the little copepods it feeds on. To make matters worse, a yellow tang, which also has a long snout, may attack this fish, for the sole reason that it perceives it as a rival for it`s food source, even though the Tang is an herbivore.
Here`s a “Pygmy Angel”, an omnivore & no threat to either.
As per your comment last night, you get to live the tank again.

Very interesting to me how the colors of the fish are relected on the underside of the water surface. That’s not a phenomenon I would have expected, but then I don’t shoot photos from an underwater perspective either.
I have quite a few reflection shots & I experiment creating them also. The one in my last post I created myself. These two, on the other hand, I shot in a friends tank, & are not altered in any way.

I’m sorry it screws up your display Cali; that’s certainly not what I want to do. The YouTube embeds shouldn’t screw up your display, regardless of your connection speed. They should just display as a static image until you try to play the movie. Since YouTube uses Flash to display movies, you may want to check into whether or not you have the latest version of the Flash player. I’m not sure how it works on a Mac, but if you were on a PC and having problems, even with the most recent version of Flash, I would suggest that it might be a problem with your display driver. There is likely some Mac equivalent, though it probably has the letter “I” in front of it. It may well be your Adblock extension. See how it looks with it disabled. Pop-up advertising relies heavily on Flash these days, so that may well be the problem.
Again, sorry for your trouble. I’m on something of a hiatus at the moment, so you probably don’t have to worry about too many front page YouTube movies for a bit. I’ll be back at some point, so the next time I post one and it screws up your display, shoot me an email and we’ll try to figure out how to fix the problems.
fine on Safari, Chris, I’m suspecting the Adblock extension — it affects a lot of pages, not just BooTrib. (I’ve got broadband, so it’s not a connection speed issue). Basically, the YouTube image vanishes when I scroll down; nothing earthshaking but a bit disconcerting. (Hmmm…I installed Firefox for the spouse on his account but did not install any extensions…maybe I should do a test…) I know that we have to worry about image size for the dial-up folks, but I wasn’t sure what YouTube links did; it wasn’t that long ago that I was on dial-up myself, so I still keep those folks in mind…I also wonder what sort of effect sites like BooTrib have on accessibility issues (those using text-based browsers for the visually impaired), but that’s just another pet interest of mine…
I’m on dial-up and use Firefox as my browser. I’ve never had a problem with U-tube. They only open if I click on them, and I only do that if I’m willing to go do something else for a few minutes while the video downloads.
Oh, I use a PC.
It’s actually not as hot (although still as humid) as it had been. Took the Missus to a Thai food place that we both loved back when we were dating. Relatively speaking, Thai food seems to make for some pretty inexpensive eating these days. I’m making a mental note of that, of course.
We’ve managed to make the requisite baseball games, gigs, beach excursions, lunches w/friends, etc. on the usual shoe-string budget. Still have to add to the supply of tie-dye shirts and so forth, but otherwise, we’re getting ready to make it back to home.
