Mornin’! How goes it?
Time for the heat index competition — 107 here.
Any wisdom in the WSJ today?
As far as down here, you win. Predicting 104 today.
It’s not that warm here yet, but it’s supposed to be 115-degree heat index here during the day.
As for the WSJ, they had a profile of MoveOn, which was pretty interesting. Other than that, it was the usual.
It isn’t 107 here yet — that’s just the predicted high so you definitely win and I’m happy to lose this one.
Stay cool.
Morning Andi.
Have you heard any from SN & CG? I never did find out the name of that coffee shop.
Haven’t heard anything but I know SN is staying at a place with no internet access. I hope they are having so much fun that they forget all about us.
Hah! As if they could forget about us. But if they do have so much fun that they do forget about us, I’ll have a few words for them. 🙂
Good morning, Andi, PF37 and FM.
Hope you all are well.
Another brief Oslo-trip, hence, some lurking last night and this morning.
Morning Ask. Glad to see you this am.
Still in vacation heaven?
Yup. A bit cooler today and a few hours of (much needed) rain yesterday. Sun is back out and as soon as I have picked up some paperwork we’ll head back to the coast.
I would say slack when possible, but you’re on vacation.
You need to get back to work so I can preach slackdom. 🙂
Enjoy.
The asklets are nagging me to leave.
Hope you all survive the heat – stay submerged.
We could use some of that cooler weather here on the East Coast!
Good to hear from you. Hope you and the asklets are having a great time.
Thanks, we sure do. A week to go…
Finally some relief from the heat, as the next five days’ highs are to be 79-84F. I didn’t think the 90s would ever end.
This past evening on the 5PM local news they were calling for people to voluntarily cut back on elect use.
Morning NDD, good to see (read) you.
I’ve always thought it was funny that the people saying to cut back on the elec. use are doing so while sitting in their air conditioned offices.
Yeah, they were telling folks to set the thermostat to 78F. Be fun to sneak in that office and see what there’s is set to.
You getting any relief from the heat there yet?
Actually hasn’t been that bad lately, but by Thursday we’ll be back up to around 100 without the heat index.
As long as the house and car have ac, I’m fine.
place a few days back due to no AC there. If the outside temp drops below 70 some, we can get that place cooled down with fans, but otherwise it’s an uncomfortable sleeping situation.
Only good things about this past weather is no more lawn mowing and hardly a mosquito, which is a rare treat when sitting outdoors.
Unfortunately down here we keep getting little thunder storms that are coming through. Just enough water to keep the grass growing. Arrggggggg!
it was pretty much just to knock the Canadian thistles down. Otherwise they’d have soon been knee high. Guess their long tap root keeps them supplied with moisture.
Stopped by your blog, sound like you had an interesting time in German. I traveled in Mexico more a month a few decades back with a German globetrotter. That was fun. He lives in Berlin now.
A couple of month after I left, the wall came down. It was always such a hassel to get to Berlin that I never did go. I really wished I had though.
I always found it interesting to meet other people from around the world traveling too. One of the best I remember were two girls from New Zealand. They asked a friend with me what he knew about the place, and he asked them wasn’t New Zealand in the Caribbean. They proceeded to tear into him and I just backed away. 🙂
my friend sent me a box of concrete chunks that he’d knocked off the wall himself. I’ve still got them.
New Zealand in the Caribbean: Yeah, Americans ain’t known for the knowledge of world geography, myself included with respect to some areas of the globe. Usually worked best to keep the mug shut unless I was sure of what I was talking about.
Well, I suppose I should get a little shut-eye, I’m still coasting from yesterdays naps I guess, but running out of steam now.
Have a great day FM!
You too NDD. It was good talking to you.
Hi Andi, Psi, FM, ask, NDD, and whoever else is around!
Another hot day here at the beach. We had dinner and went kayaking with Second Nature and the Nature Boys last night. She is as cool and wonderful in person as she is here in the cafe. And her boys are great too.
and keep kewl. Hi to SN.
I’ll try to get her to get on and say hi to y’all too. CBtY and younger Nature Boy just trotted off together to their hotel. They are so cute.
Hi CG. I’ve been wondering how ya’ll are doing. I’m glad everyone is having a good time.
What’s the name of the coffee shop?
It’s the Ocracoke Coffee Co.
BTW, SN is a graceful kayaker. And I have pictures to prove it. 🙂
Well pictures are what we want. 🙂

I found a way to block the en-ess-aye surveillance.
that’s a lot of popcorn.
such a thing? I’m more of a kettle korn fanatic, tho.
Who could lurk with a face like that looking at you.
How’s the day going Manny?
say en español, “Aqui, no mas” – so, so.
Work is steady but I’m unfocused, hence the more daytime blogging than usual. How goes it for you?
Pretty good. Just running a napathon. I keep dozing off for some reason.
great wordage. I’m guessing it’s because you beat the sun during each day’s marathon. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get up that early. I’m more of a ‘crack of noon’ kinda guy 🙂
Yep I have the horrid ‘morning person’ sign stamped on my forehead.
I’m thinking of having geezer put beside it. 🙂
But he’s probably sad because he knows that dinner is hours and hours and hours away (of course, if he’s like my dogs, he knows that when dinner is two minutes away).
tells me he is famished no matter how big of a meal he just ate or how many biscuits he’s devoured. Always. Hungry. He was pouting for this pic because I was too busy pointing the weird grey box at him rather than making sure the area behind his ears was sufficiently scratched.
Yes, it is very sad how often people forget their sacred responsibilities.
I should be more attentive to his needs, otherwise he may hitchhike to Alabama at the beckoning of Family Man.
Hah, Bud knows he has a place here. Plus Bud I’ll feed you all the time. 🙂
He looks hot, Manny. Does he want a cool cloth for his snout? Maybe a scotch on the rocks? Or does he like the pink drinks? (We make no judgments about Bud’s gender expression, of course.)
Hi Indy.
Hey there, Family
Man. Hot enough for ya? Yuck, yuck, yuck. 😉
I guess so. 🙂
Sounds like you’re feeling better. I hope so.
I read your latest b-thingy but decided that I would follow the Man Code™ and not say anything since I was already speechless O:)
Bud is a Pro-Peace Activist like me and would not give the pink cosmo-dish a second thought (plus, he’s colorblind) 😉
Man Code™, huh? Sounds a little like Bull Shit™ to me, but whatev. 😉 (I tease you because I like you.)
It’s never easy to work for peace, but man, lately it feels like we’re playing in a whole new league, doesn’t it?
have plent of BS™ to share with the world, so perhaps you’re right.
I got a magnet for my workstation that sums up my thoughts recently: “peace. it does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart. – unknown” It may be even more BS, but it made me feel better, Damnit! 🙂
I’m trying to count how many bad puns that pastel drink has on it but it’s too much of a challenge for my bifocals.
Right? What is it about pet ownership that makes capitalist manufacturers of cheap plastic pet crap think that we all share a love of corny jokes? I mean, I don’t even think the pets would like them. Clearly, if cats could read, they’d read The New Yorker, and most dogs would probably read Cracked — not that I’m a huge fan of either publication, although I’ve read both regularly in my past, but neither of them would be caught dead trying to pass off something like “ruff day” as funny.
‘ruff day’ might have appeared in Mad but it would have been in Spy vs. Spy and someone would have died for it.
I made it home!! And I didn’t melt … Ottawa is the hottest place in Canada today they said on the news. It was 117F this afternoon, and it’s now down to 114F.
I’m putting up my diary now … ugh formatting … ugh.
🙂
Just 117F? How’re ya going to whine when it really get hot? 🙂
you’re lucky I’m busy formatting … 😛
Hah, BTW how is it formatting from an ice bath. 🙂
Come on over for Cosmic Happy Hour
