i’m sick of being alone
when are you coming home
just a glimps of your face
i can
remember smelling your hair
i’ll meet you anywhere
some where that no one can retrace
some where where no body will know our faces
she has two arms to hold me
and four legs to wrap around me
she’s not your typical girl friend
she’s my alien
she knows when something is wrong
when something doesnt belong
she can read through my mind
and she
can be assured that with me
there is no consperacy
she’s not wasting her time
she can take me to a place that she calls home
in a space ship that will someday be my own
please take me to your leader
tell her i will surrender
she has two arms to hold me
and four legs to wrap around me she’s not your typical girl friend
she’s my alien

Looks like a crop circle to me and I’ve looked at tons of pics. Is there only this one circle, looks like there are more. Google the crop circle connector for more info.
Here`s TULULUBELLE checking for a leak on top of the ice cave.
Hi Olivia & Keres.
Btw: Yesterday I tried to get a shot of a huge Toucan that`s flying around the area. Then I saw a picture of it, provided by the owner, asking for help in retreiveing it. What alerted us to it was the call it made ; completely distinct from all the other birds.
I also had one of my pix voted POTM on one of my reef sites. I`ll link to it later. http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/2807/tulullubelle1uw3.jpg
They were named, repectively, Mr. Wizard, Lizzie, and Octavia.
My father was a big animal lover (must be where I got it), but my mom and my step-father were not. After my mom remarried I had to have things that I could keep in my room, and keep my step-father from knowing about. There was panic one day when Mr. Wizzard found his way down stairs. I finally found him on top of the drapes, about an hour before my step-father got home.
It wasn’t ’til after I moved out of the house that the managerie really expanded.
We were much more traditional in our pets — dogs, parakeets, chameleons, and fish. Oh and one hamster. Neither of my parents liked pets but my grandfather who lived with us did and luckily for us kids, my mom couldn’t refuse him anything.
I was born in a kennel – well, really, I was born in a hospital, but my parents had a kennel of great danes.
After the danes came a German Short-haired Pointer (Fritz) and a English Seter/Golden Retriever cross (Winnie). When my father decided he didn’t have time for the bird dogs, he found new homes for them. A short time later we got “Muffin,” a little beagle/terrier/poodle mix from the pound. I was four years old. I had to put her down when I was 21. My sister wanted a cat, and a few years later we got “Snowball.”
About a month or two ago, I was saying something about having to create a three vectored system for naming our housemate’s comfort range (she’s very sensitive, and only really tolerates a very small range of temperature). Imogen listened for a bit and then turned to me and said, “you are the biggest nerd I’ve ever met.” Which is not really true, cuz I’ve met way bigger nerds than me and find it hard to believe that she hasn’t as well.
At least I’m not a geek, not that there’s anything wrong with being a geek.
I’m a geek of the computer variety, and proud to say so. I figure I’m in pretty good company, as without me and my geeky brethren there wouldn’t be any of these here Internets for you mere mortals to play on.
(Lest I get too big for my breeches, ask my wife about how well I handle getting the socks into the dirty clothes basket, or better yet, ask her how good I am with plumbing. She’ll gleefully go into detail while I hide under the bed and whimper.)
You and your bretheren have my eternal thanks for the internet, as that is where I met Imogen.
I’m pretty computer savvy, but I stick to installing a new DVD drive, or replacing a fan. My days of pulling the computers apart are behind me, since computers got more sophisticated and I decided to focus my nerd tendancies elsewhere. I learned HTML once, and I’m a wiz with Photoshop. But beyond that is true Geekdom, and not for me.
And speaking of plumbing. After I send the magazine to the printer in the morning, I get to take a day or two off before I plumb Imogen’s brother’s house (it’s newly built). It’s on tank water, so I’ll be setting up a demand system and running all the pipes and installing all the fixtures. Oh, and then there is the drain field. At least I don’t have to dig. Imogen’s brother has to do that.
I hear ya. I spent about 6 hours re-formating one page of my magazine last week. And when I sent it to the Greens Party Administrator to be proofed, she informed me that they had just found out that a large portion of the text they had given me was wrong. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Good to hear that you’re working on the application, pain in the butt that it no doubt is.
I was having some back trouble so I haven’t been biking for a week — taking long walks in the woods instead but doing it as early as possible — of course, it’s still miserably humid but at least it isn’t unbearably hot.
Sorry about the back pain. That really puts a damper on enjoying the outdoors.
I know what you mean about going out in the morning. We had a friend over last night for an “ice cream emergency” and we walked out on the porch as she left – at 10 PM – and the air was still thick. Blah.
We’re so bored around here we might actually go walk around the mall tomorrow, just to get out of the house.
I’d lend you my ice pack, but it’s on my shoulder at the moment.
When I said yesterday that I was going for a “massage,” what I really should have said is that I was going to spend an hour having someone dig into my trigger points until I couldn’t stand the pain any longer. Which is somewhat less relaxing than most people’s impression of a massage.
The day after (today) I usually feel like I payed someone to beat me up the day before. But if I did’t, I turn into an even achy-er mess.
to Diva, we’re trying to get things finalized for her shuttle trip to Phoenix on Saturday. I’m so glad kansas will be able to meet her when she arrives in Kansas, we’re really serving as her eyes and ears in a society system that is completely new to her.
kind words, blueneck. I grew up in a small town and within a family that has always helped out anybody that crossed our paths that needed it. Whether it was stopping so my dad could help repair a broken-down vehicle or helping my grandmother run our food bank, we live our lives in service of others. We’re all human beings and kindness can go a long way to break down man-made barriers. I’m glad I was able to be here for her, and doubly glad that she will have assistance in Kansas from other BooTribbers. It makes my heart smile 🙂 paz
Diva is the young girl from Iraq that diane101 has been in contact with over the years. She is here on a Fullbright scholarship and has been in my city for orientation the past couple of weeks. She heads to the Univ. of Kansas on Saturday. More info in diane’s diary here.
Send me an e-mail if any monetary assistance is need and I will try to get a hold of Kansas to forward the same to diva. Otherwise, I glad to see Kansas can assist.
everything is covered until she gets there. She flies in on Saturday but the place she secured for housing doesn’t open up until the 11th. kansas has arranged for a host home until then. The place will be furnished with the basics, but their living allowance is very minimal so diane and I were thinking of asking for some help down the way after she gets settled so she can buy some provisions. I’ll make sure to let you know if something comes up, or shoot diane an email at dianed101 at yahoo dot com. Diva is an awesome person with a rich story, hopefully you’ll get to meet her someday. She’ll be at UK for two years.
I do check out other stories in the country, ya know. I was wondering if you or maryb were affected. The weather has been insane lately all across the country. We had massive flooding from five straight days of hard rain, the desert needs it but WOW it came all at once.
well that is good then you won’t ask a misplaced question like…Is Kansas so flat you can see the skyscrapers in Kansas City from Lawrence??? Or are there any buildings taller than a grain elevator in Kansas?
Alien Secretion
This is great Manny. I love the picture and comments in the box.
You raised the notch again for cafes. 🙂
lowering levels of discourse. Two of my specialties 😉
Looks like I’ll have to get my space suit out of storage. Be right back.
you mean you can’t get here by just pumping your fist in the air and flying at the speed of light? I may have to reevaluate my image of you 😉
Transporter! The cafe needs a transporter.
YES!
And then you could all pop into my place to cool off next to the fire. 🙂
Are you kidding? As hot as it is people would be running around outside in thier shorts. 🙂
I love the image. But trust me, it’s cold enough in the house. The current inside temp is 14C/57F. Outside it’s more like 4C/39F.
Sorry, Manny. I can however annoy AndiF by telling you that the speed of light is 186,282 miles/second or 3 x 10 to the eight meters/second.
Now, how am I supposed to drink my tea in this thing?
I hope I get the connections right and don’t cross the feeding tube with the catheter…
YIKES! Nevermind. I’ll have my tea later.
I just went out to check on the critters and found this in the alpaca’s pasture.
Any ideas?

Why would you every think such a thing?
I meant “awed.”
After the disappoinment with their vacation in Area 51, these two weary travelers were content to slumber away some time in a familiar ice cave on their home planet.

Cute critters, er…uh, aliens.
I had a desert iguana and a giant green iguana when I was a kid.
Tegu.
but I’m expecting that the list of your childhood menagerie to be much, much longer than this.
That’s just the lizards.

I used to see a bumper sticker at science fiction conventions:
I probably would still see it if I went to science fiction conventions more often.
I love it. It would have fit perfectly on one of my old cars.

Just got called to run an errand.
Back in a minute.
I can’t stay to visit, but I know some here will be interested to see my latest diary on nonviolent action, here
Any rec support will be greatly appreciated.
See you all a little later in the evening, since activities have been postponed earlier today to complete the diary.
Have a great Happy Hour!
I hate formatting!
I hear ya. I spent about 6 hours re-formating one page of my magazine last week. And when I sent it to the Greens Party Administrator to be proofed, she informed me that they had just found out that a large portion of the text they had given me was wrong. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Another two hours later . . .
I just spent 30 minutes looking for a stupid tag error … calm calm calm …
LOL
Have a relaxing picture for visualization.
I need it … I finally found the stupid thing.
I need some ice cream …
How was your day?
an html editor?
Day was okay — especially now that it’s night.
I’m about ready for bed myself … need to eat dinner first.
Much better.
I’ve got my editorial and a few hours more of formating to do, and then I can send the magazine to the printer. Yay!
I’ll send it as a pdf to anyone here who wants an e-copy.
I’d like to have it if it isn’t too huge for someone on dial-up.
I’m on dial-up and I seem to get pdf’s the size of the mag just fine.
I’ll send the cover and insides separate. Since that’s how I send them to the printer.
No problem.
And there’s an e-cookie in it for the first one to post a phonetical approximation of my last name (you’ve never heard the name before).
flogging your diary.
How is everyone this evening?
I’m hot — which makes me very much nothing special.
How are you?
Are you taking Andrew to the pool to escape the heat?
The only pool available to us is the one at the Y, and that is too busy during the week. Mostly, we’ve been playing in the play room in the basement.
That’s too bad since it’s perfect pool weather. I know — time for a backyard kiddy pool!
We’ve been thinking about that. There are a fair number of wandering cats in our neighborhood, so we’ll have to make sure to cover it every night.
You’ll be proud of me, I have been working on my resume for the grad school application. I’ve only been talking about this for months…
Have you been biking in this heat?
Good to hear that you’re working on the application, pain in the butt that it no doubt is.

I’m off to bed for the night, have a good one a4l, keres, omir, blueneck, NDD, en-ess-aye and all the lurkers. Paz
Night Manny. Sweet dreams.
