…this morning a close colleague and supporter of Lieberman’s, Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., told USA TODAY Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page that if Lieberman loses by more than 10 percentage points, he thinks it’s unlikely the senator will mount an independent effort to keep his seat. Lautenberg said Lieberman hasn’t specifically told him that, but that it’s his (Lautenberg’s) impression of what would happen. Page was guest-hosting on National Public Radio’s Diane Rehm Show, and Lautenberg’s comments were aired live.
Lautenberg told Page that in the event of a big primary loss, Lieberman would have to “take a look at what reality is.”
Asked by On Deadline for a reaction, Lieberman campaign spokesman Rob Sawicki said “we are focused solely on winning the primary Tuesday and will leave speculations on what happens after that to others.”
LOL. Thanks. I needed to get that taste out of my mouth as well!
Man, I don’t think I can remember a big political castle crashing so fast as Lieberman’s.
The way leiberman is gong at this one would think he has an agenda. I wonder if it is the democratic or republican agenda he is fighting for. I think it is really time for the democrats to wake up and smell the coffee with joe. He is not on our side. As I see it he is a moderate–sometimes–republican.
Wow! It’s…it’s….almost as though I’ve been front-paged! (Screen names, even without associated verbiage, still count for something :^) Sadly, I experienced computer crashage last night, prior to seeing this article. Worst. Nightmares. Ever! (Why oh why didn’t I think to clear my head of Tom Cruise by clicking on the Johnny Depp link …. why….why…. ;^)
Yet, on a very positive note, that $5 I contributed to Ned Lamont’s exploratory campaign was one of the best investments in many years. :^)
Good day!
