Mary and I checked out lowest available room rates (Congress Hotel has the lowest) but we were thinking people could pick wherever they wanted. (For example, you could stay on the south side where you could get a much lower rate and take the train in.)
Our idea is that Saturday we will have a group activity (our current top choice is an architectural cruise conducted by the Chicago Architecture Foundation), lunch at Millennium Park, and, dinner (somewhere) and in whatever time is left free, people can do what they want (anybody want to go to the Shedd?).
It’s very quiet currently. It’s the first good sleep I’ve had in 4 nights and probably the best cup of hot coffee I’ve ever had is sitting next to me – the dog is sleeping ON my feet, the cats and bird are fed and napping again and the rest of the family is still asleep. And when I took the dog out to pee I only got 6 mosquito bites in 2 minutes. That’s an improvement.
I’m glad to hear you got a good nights sleep. I can picture the puppy on your feet. 🙂
Even with the pond out back, we haven’t had that many mosquitoes this year. That’s a good thing because I got my wireless router yesterday and I can’t wait for good weather to blog from the patio.
I haven’t had a chance to say that I hope your daughter will mend from this quickly and fully. I’ve had friends and clients with similar bike/vehicle collisions. The emotional stuff – whether it’s the pain in getting over it, or fear of what could have happened or whatever, can be hard as the “simple” physical stuff.
I’ll be thinking about her, and all of you. I hope her profs will cut her some slack if she needs it, too.
Thanks, kidspeak. I think it’s just starting to sink in for her. She was just thrilled to be alive at first and now the reality of her injuries is depressing her.
SN I saw where you said she is having trouble keep the pain med down. I hope they gave her an anti nausea med also. A lot of people can’t keep pain med down without it.
they did, but then she just felt really sick without being able to throw up and it didn’t really help her pain at all. Both she and I react oddly to meds.
Being the wuss I am, I would be at that doctors office telling them they’ve got to do something else. There’s no sense in being in pain and nauseated when you don’t have to be.
A good pharmacist could help with this. There are different ways to provide pain medication to avoid nausea, for example. Docs don’t get as much training as pharmacists in the ins and outs of individual differences in medication effects, especially if she is taking more than one kind of med. Hospital pharmacists can provide suggestions and advice, but so can ordinary drugstore pharmacists. The blow to the head she got could also make her more likely to be nauseated when she takes meds that have this tendency, too.
I thought of you when I made my comment about pharmacists. And I apologize for calling any pharmacist “ordinary”. Not true. My gram’s pharmacist saved her life!
Oh, the timer went off. Have to get the food out of the oven (Been cooking overnight to avoid heat in our kitchen, which we are in the middle of re-doing. Avoids having sawdust as a delicious high-fiber addition to whatever we eat.)
I see I’m running way behind on all the FBC news… just assume I’m coming back from outerspace, or something…
I’ll celebrate being in here early with a sunrise, weird as it is, obviously the camera “saw” somewhat different colors than my eye did, but anyway, here it is;
I’m doin’ fine today. I’ve even been up a little earlier than normal.
I think the color on the photo leans a little to heavy towards the purple, or whatever the heck that color is. I tried some other settings but then it went too far the other way, sort of too faded.
Anyway, when things are right the Coolpix will take amazing pictures, it’s probably the operator that needs enhancement, ha!
NDD you have to learn the secret one of my relatives have. It’s never his fault, it’s the machines.
When asked, “Did you hit the button that said delete.” “Well yes.” When pointed out that he did it, he still manages to blame the machine. “Damn delete option shouldn’t have been there anyway.” :~)
that danged menu dial selector thingy must a got bumped off it’s designated spot, and, so, why didn’t those idiots design it so it would lock into position more securely!!
To show you how behind the times I am, the only one I knew was Jackson Browne.
However, I would love to see the band with the name, Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams. I figure they’ve got to be good just for the originality of the name.
I’ve just been languishing in dial-up land for the past weeks. It’s hard to stay connected with internet events when one is operating at less than 31.2K, and then getting dropped frequently besides. aaaccckkk!
PFF lineup looks like fun. It’s been many years since I’ve been to the Folk Festival in Manitoba, north of Winnipeg. If I had I probably know more than Jackson Browne too, ha!
Here’s to a great school year and whole lot of sleeping in.
Good morning Andi.
Happy last work day Psi.
Hi FM. I guess we’ll have to get used to it just being the two of us in the early morning.
Well, at least you won’t have a young’un ribbing y’all about your geezerhood. 😛
Ah, they grow up and leave so soon.
But I do so enjoy leading the young and innocent into the light.
Good morning, Andi, FM, PsiFighter.
Where are you off to, PsiFighter?
How are you doing this morning?
I saw Toni’s diary. I hope that you are thinking of that good time as a great prelude to the October 7 Chicago trip.
We talked about it. Spouse and I are going to try to come, depends on what happens that weekend with work, etc. Has a place been settled yet?

Sounds pretty good! Haven’t been to the Shedd, always wanted to go there.
What is the Shedd?
It’s an acquarium, supposed to be one of the best.
Thanks. I guess I could have not been lazy and googled. 🙂
And asking saves energy, too.
The saves energy fits right in with my slackerly life. I like it. 🙂
Good morning Kidspeak.
Morning, family man.
Leo says good morning, too, although she’s not moving very fast this am.
Sorry that was so enormous, I didn’t mean to do that! Photobucket newbie.
Looks fine to me.
LOL thanks. That’s the first laugh of the day.
Hey, morning everyone! Having a puppy and being totally thrown off my schedule means I’m up with the early people! 🙂
Good morning SN.
How’s everything going this morning?
It’s very quiet currently. It’s the first good sleep I’ve had in 4 nights and probably the best cup of hot coffee I’ve ever had is sitting next to me – the dog is sleeping ON my feet, the cats and bird are fed and napping again and the rest of the family is still asleep. Glad you had a good sleep and hope Ryan will be feeling a bit better today.
Hey there! Did I catch you before your walkabout?
Just barely — Giddy is dancing around impatiently and taking little nips at me, just in case I don’t remember my obligations.
sounds like its time to go! have a good day.
I’m going, I’m going — sorry that was to Giddy.
Give Ryan a very gentle hug from Jim, me, and all the dogs.
See ya later.

You know you can always contact your medication specialist off-line. I’m sure she won’t mind.

Good talking to you Kidspeak.
Hope you have a good day.

Good morning NDD. We’ve been missing you around these parts.
That’s a great looking sunrise.
for a while there I thought you’d all gone back to bed or sumptin’
looking at the weather radar it appears it will rain most of the day here. Not a good way to start the annual Blues Festival.
Fargo Blues Festival
I’m probably wrong, but is that Johnny Winter, Edgar’s brother?
Never mind. I just went farther into the website and saw a picture of him.
How ya doing?
Hi FM!
Hi Olivia.
And what’s on the plan for today?
Doing fine. As soon as I get everybody going, I’m going to tackle the house and then the lawn.
Just another mundane day, but hopefully with plenty of naps. 🙂
And make sure to drink lots of water! And watch out for snakes (btw, DO NOT click on that link) 🙂
I’m doin’ fine today. I’ve even been up a little earlier than normal.

How’s that FM?
I like the colour! I think it adds to the photo NDD … The sun is burning hotter than orange … And the clouds look like flames.
🙂
Yeah, got back to Fargo yesterday. So I’m enjoying and appreciating high speed internet once again.
Hey, if Olivia says the colours are good then them thar colours be good:)
Maybe we’ll see you around later tonight … 🙂
Better get some work done here … Have a good day!
if it clears up this evening we may yet go to the festival, if not… hard to say what I might be doing;)
But there’s always the chance I’ll show up for a late night session.
That looks fun!
Our local music fest is this weekend too…PFF lineup
How’ve you been, NDD?
To show you how behind the times I am, the only one I knew was Jackson Browne.
However, I would love to see the band with the name, Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams. I figure they’ve got to be good just for the originality of the name.
Jackson Browne and David Lindley are the main reason I’m thinking about going on Saturday.
Don’t blame you. I never did get to see him during my concert day.
JB’s okay, but it’s really Lindley that I adore. 🙂
I can’t say I remember Lindley. If he has been around as long as JB then I know I’ve probably heard his stuff, but can’t remember.
If you were listening to JB between 1971 and 1981, you’ve heard Lindley in the background.
Then I definitely heard Lindley. Another old geezer moment. 🙂
More like musical nerdiness on my part. 😉
I’ve just been languishing in dial-up land for the past weeks. It’s hard to stay connected with internet events when one is operating at less than 31.2K, and then getting dropped frequently besides. aaaccckkk!

Oops the TV cable just went out and the relatives are oddly enough, on the move. Wonder why?
Gotta go. NDD hope to see you later.
