Hey Frog Ponders! I just finished writing my entry that I’ll be posting here early tomorrow morning, since I’ll be busy the entire day. It took a damn long time to write, but you can read it early here or at My Left Wing. Basically, I take to task the notion that Chuck Hagel is a reasonable politician. He’s nothing but a hardline Republican masquerading as a reasonable person because of his Iraq criticism.
But it’s good to be finished with that. How are y’all doing?
Pretty good, with the exception of missing half of the second-to-last episode of Deadwood this season (boo) because one of my buddies from Oregon called (yay) and we wound up talking forever…now I’ll have to stay up and watch the re-run at midnight.
So, did I see that you might be joining us all at DL after you get back to school? Don’t let that Chris scare you off… 🙂
Speaking of Chris … my parents went to western China this summer and got to go to the panda breeding center. I have to remember to have my dad shoot me some pictures so I can show Chris.
Thanks, Booman. Means a lot comin’ from you! 🙂 Should have a little more time these next couple of weeks without work to focus on blogging before heading back to Penn.
Yeah, I’ll try and come as often as possible. I think it conflicts with a night class I have during the fall semester. It also coincides with my Penn Democrats meetings, unfortunately. :/
I like your diaries, but I especially like the fact that you write something every day. I hope you manage to keep that up once you’re back in at that party school that masquerades as a top college 🙂
It’s hard to do. Some days, I have great difficulty thinking of a topic to write about. There are some fantastic one-issue bloggers at dKos and elsewhere around the blogosphere, but I try to cover a little bit of everything. Call it aspiring to be great at writing about every issue instead of just one. 😛
Work right out of college. One of the main reasons I went to Wharton was that the undergrad degree could get you a pretty decent job right out of school. No plans or intentions of going to grad school at any time, as of now.
He’s trying to tip toe along that moderate tightwire because he has presidential aspirations. And it’s no longer dangerous politically for republicans to critisize Bush. Typical mealy mouthed politician.
For a second I thought you were talking about Psi, not Chuck.
Chuck’s dangerous because he looks reasonable. All the moderate Republicans — what I call the Jack Danforth Republicans — they’ll relate to him because he’s saying what they’re thinking.
I don’t think a short, half-Japanese, atheist ex-investment banking liberal could get elected as president. But who knows? Stranger things have happened. 😛
And let there be no doubt — I’m not just jealous, I’m seething with it. Of course, some shoe blogging would go a long way in helping heal these wounds.
I have a camera, it’s just not digital. And I hardly ever use it. Not because I don’t want to, but because I never remember to. I’m too busy looking at things to think about taking their pictures.
It does look that way. I’m in the midst of putting up the breakfast thread on ET, so I’m sort of hopping back and forth. If you find any news, you’re welcome to drag it over there!
Actually bought myself one of those fancy-schmancy calculators tonight — I figure it’s going to take me a quarter to actually figure out how it works. If I’m serious about this degree biz, I’m going to have to take Statistics, meaning I have to brush up on my very faint Intermediate Algebra skills so I can pass the placement test — I took Int Alg back in 1986 when I was dating a math geek, but then we broke up midway through the quarter so I was totally screwed. I actually enjoy math; wish I hadn’t given in to 1970’s peer pressure that said that girls good in math would never get a date…hell, I never got a date anyway so no big diff.
Okay, need to toddle off to bed…alarm is going off at (oh my god) 5am since spouse has an early meeting to determine his job future, and I’m trying not to panic…sorry I missed all the fun earlier…
Clean tables with flapper on top dancing.
That really MUST be Izzy.
I went to get my laundry out of the dryer … where is everybody?
You know the cafes Mary. Bouncing off the wall one mintue, quiet the next.
Actually I think this is the busiest night we’ve had in awhile. All because of Mary. 🙂
I doubt it was because of me. Everybody just showed up. Well, except for Manny. And ej. But Super made it — and that was nice. 🙂
Night everyone! Nice to see you maryb. 🙂
Night SN. Hang in there with everything. And don’t forget to play with the puppy!
Night SN. You beat me to it.
Yeah it was a nice night. Hate to do it, but it’s way past this geezers bed time.
Mary it was good talking to you. Don’t work to hard this coming week.
Goodnight FM. I’m glad our schedules met up tonight. Take care.

I think you missed everyone. Except me 🙂
I don’t miss you! You usually rec my unpopular diaries at dKos that no one else bothers to recommend. For that, I am very grateful! 🙂
So how’ve you been doing?
I’m here too…
Hello CabinGirl! I usually don’t get to chat with you much. How goes it?
Pretty good, with the exception of missing half of the second-to-last episode of Deadwood this season (boo) because one of my buddies from Oregon called (yay) and we wound up talking forever…now I’ll have to stay up and watch the re-run at midnight.

Or has he changed animals?
Well, he’s had a flirtation with guinea pigs lately, but I think pandas (and David Hasselhoff) are really his true love.
what we need is a picture of David Hasselhoff with a panda.
just keep him away from “cute” rodents.
Hey look, it’s Booman! How’s it goin’?
great.
treat him like a rock star .. there will be no livin with him now.
you could live with me before?
Hey Psi, great work lately. You’re on a roll.
Thanks, Booman. Means a lot comin’ from you! 🙂 Should have a little more time these next couple of weeks without work to focus on blogging before heading back to Penn.
this is why long distance relationships are best 🙂
well, we’ll always have Vegas…
hey, stop living in the past and resting on your laurels. I need to be entertained in the present.
Heh. At least from when I met him in April, he seems like a nice enough guy. Maybe there’s a dark side of him I haven’t seen yet… 😛
I didn’t know there were cute rodents. Except maybe prairie dogs, they can be kind of cute.
How’ve you been?
I’ve been fine other than flamewars.
Chris insists that guinea pigs are cute. Albert keeps threatening to kill them.
wow. Chris and Albert going at it? I’ve never heard of a flame war over guinea pigs before.
evidence.
that’s hilarious! My kind of flame war too. Neither of the rodents yelled fuck you at the other one.
OK, you get points for entertainment.
It also ended decisively. Albert is probably still licking his wounds…
My money’s on Albert to come back with a rodenticide diary that starts the whole thing up again.
Which Chris? Chris here at BMT or Chris Bowers? 😛
Yeah, I’ll try and come as often as possible. I think it conflicts with a night class I have during the fall semester. It also coincides with my Penn Democrats meetings, unfortunately. :/
Chris Bowers likes pandas too? 🙂
Only if they’re posing with David Hasselhoff AND wearing Chuck Taylors…
pandas wearing Chuck Taylors — we’ll put Izzy on that one. But I think she’ll draw the line at photoshopping David Hasselhoff.
Ooh, ooh, I just watched it — a very tense episode! Also why I’m late for the maryb-a-thon — hi maryb!
THERE you are. I didn’t think I’d ever get you to delurk. I had to resort to pandas in shoes …
I wasn’t being coy — just flakey! I left you a link in a new comment — bottom left!
It was painful to stop watching in the middle…17 more mnutes until the re-play. 🙂
I’m all stressed out already about next season, what with HBO screwing it up. I really hope that 2 movie deal is firm.
I hope they don’t screw it up too. It’s the best thing on tv.
I like your diaries, but I especially like the fact that you write something every day. I hope you manage to keep that up once you’re back in at that party school that masquerades as a top college 🙂

I know it’s hard to do, that’s why I’m impressed.
Are you planning to go to graduate school immediately or work instead?
Work right out of college. One of the main reasons I went to Wharton was that the undergrad degree could get you a pretty decent job right out of school. No plans or intentions of going to grad school at any time, as of now.
He’s trying to tip toe along that moderate tightwire because he has presidential aspirations. And it’s no longer dangerous politically for republicans to critisize Bush. Typical mealy mouthed politician.
You know…
my spelling is for shit tonight.
And I didn’t even breath any paint fumes today! :o)
LOL
For a second I thought you were talking about Psi, not Chuck.
Chuck’s dangerous because he looks reasonable. All the moderate Republicans — what I call the Jack Danforth Republicans — they’ll relate to him because he’s saying what they’re thinking.
Hey! Who said I’m not going to say whatever it takes to be elected president! 😛
Well, I can’t be president anyways…wasn’t born in the U.S.
where were you born?
Japan, but I’m a dual citizen of Japan and the U.S.
Well, never fear, by the time you’re age-eligible to run for president the Schwarzenegger amendment will have passed.
I don’t think a short, half-Japanese, atheist ex-investment banking liberal could get elected as president. But who knows? Stranger things have happened. 😛
I was thinking that too…too funny.
And you’re right, those reasonable-sounding Repubs are dangerous.
ET had a London meetup and That Brit Guy shoe blogged it! I didn’t even have to pay him — maybe I should outsource.
Your influence is everywhere. Now you even have staff.
Not particularly well-shod staff, but still, it’s a good start.
Well, they ARE british.
I liked that beer poster 🙂
And they try so hard to keep me happy — it’s adorable.
I like those pink shoes at the top but I bet they are really uncomfortable
You know … when I get to Italy, shoe shopping is on my list of things to do the first day. Yes. Be jealous. Be very jealous.
Maybe I’ll do an Italian shoe blog when I get back …
OH! I thought you didn’t have a camera, hmmm?
And let there be no doubt — I’m not just jealous, I’m seething with it. Of course, some shoe blogging would go a long way in helping heal these wounds.
I have a camera, it’s just not digital. And I hardly ever use it. Not because I don’t want to, but because I never remember to. I’m too busy looking at things to think about taking their pictures.
But if I have a plan …
I can see it now — my first ET diary.
I think this is a most excellent plan.
Thank you.
I think everyone else left us.
It does look that way. I’m in the midst of putting up the breakfast thread on ET, so I’m sort of hopping back and forth. If you find any news, you’re welcome to drag it over there!
I’m reading k/o’s diary over at Orange. I’ll be back.
Hey Izzy, if you come back I’m outta here.
and yes, the men must feel worse 🙂
You know, this was really fun tonight. If Manny would show up it would be perfect. But I doubt my Holy Chihuahua incantation is still good.
Maybe if we all put on red shoes and click our heels together he’ll show up.
slightly used, non Stud Hoss soon to be student?
