Its right here on Bloomberg.com if you have the eyes to see it. And I am sure that the preparation meme is all over the rest of the media as well.
In order to make it even MORE black and white, I have bold-faced the pertinent portions of the following excerpt from Bloomberg article.
Watch.
Aaaaaany month now.
Any month.
Especially October.
Aug. 28 (Bloomberg) — Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Chairman Charles Rangel and Chairman — again — John Dingell. Those titles will soon sound familiar.
Barring an unexpected and big event, Democrats will win control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November and conceivably the Senate, too. Whether it’s a tsunami or just a powerful wave, the political dynamics are moving in that direction, or more accurately, against the Republicans and President George W. Bush.
Democratic insiders, who months ago thought their chances of winning a majority in the House were no better than even, and that the Senate was a lost cause, have become far more optimistic. Now, they say, winning the House is a lock, and the Senate is within reach.
“We have to go back to 1974 (during Watergate) to find such a favorable environment,” says James Carville, who ran Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign. “If we can’t win in this environment, we have to question the whole premise of the party.”
More telling is that the smartest Republican political minds agree. “The issue matrix and political dynamics are not good for us,” says Representative Tom Davis, a Virginia Republican. “Only some big national or international event before the election can change that.”
—snip—
“Barring an unexpected and big event…“
Riiiight…
Unexpected for WHOM, exactly?
What bullshit!!!
Stay tuned.
If BushCo thinks that it is certain to lose enough control of the legislature so that actions will begin to be taken to unmask their ongoing criminal enterprises…you can BET on an “unexpected” and big event.
The larger the possible threat of impeachment, the bigger the event.
That is a LOCK.
Watch.
And…spread this idea as far as you can. Tell your friends. Tell your enemies. Hell…tell your in-laws if you have to. The only vaccine against this viral disinfo is to be aware of its function.
Stand up and scream it from the rooftops.
THE LIARS ARE COMING!!!
THE LIARS ARE COMING!!!
Tell it on the mountaintop.
Maybe this time not enough people will be fooled.
Maybe THIS time.
Let us pray.
AG
AG
ok AG.
Let’s play a game then. Accurately predicting the big event is an even bigger vaccine.
How about a yacht crammed to the gills with radioactive medical waste slamming into the docks in the East River near the UN?
That might get someone’s attention? You can bug my phones after that, bygumby.
Bushco will hit Iran. He has been working all the stops to do so. The only thing to stop him is Blair. Will Blair give him cover like he did in Iraq?
On a smaller scale gas prices are going down. I still think we could graph Bush’s favorables and the cost of gas as direct opposites at any given time.
Yeah, that seems to be the obvious answer. Which brings up the question: If our casualties in Iraq increased to 10 a day or more as a result of attacks by pro-Iranian militias, would Americans respond to the new war by voting Republican?
I have my doubts. To me, it just reinforces the growing belief that Republicans can’t competently manage a war, which is the opposite of the image they have used to maintain power the last 5 years.
would we try to do it on the cheap? Would we not ask American citizens to sacrifice tax dollars, maybe even a draft? Would we not have an exit plan? Would we not have a precise meaning of what success would be? Would we not have all the guys in the state dept helping out figuring how to deal with the folks on the ground? Would WE fire Arabic translators because they are gay? Would we make the CIA irrelevant? Would we make the special forces do the everyday grunt work, just because we didn’t have forces?
I cannot think of one area that Rummy has done this war right.
Agreed in every respect, and the important point is that disengaged voters are finally paying enough attention to reach the same conclusions.
I no longer pray to anyone, but I AM having an intense, ongoing dialogue with whatever potential-powers-that-be that may be paying attention, as well as risking total banishment from my family and friends for not shuttin up about “politics”
As for my neighbors, well, I live in a 100 unit senior apartmentt building packed to the rafters with promarily older, white, quite conservative folks who pray..a LOT, so “talking politics” involves considerable risk. I am up for it, though, and so far no one has hurt me, and more than a few of these die- hard Republicans voters seem to be coming around.
I’ve written this before that I was a bit(ha)of a Pollyanna when it came to politics even after Nixon/Vietnam/assassinations of Martin/Bobby and John and just kinda thought politics/elections were still on the up/up-after all this was American dammit-best little whorehouse(no disrespect to cathouses)-excuse me-country in the world……..
Now I’ve become damn near petrified at what I think might happen in the next few months..like putting ‘Operation Northwoods’ into actual action by this murderous cabal–to think that I can even think something like that quite seriously scares the hell out of me even more-the death of Pollyanna was a pretty slow process but these last bush years have certainly killed off Pollyanna for good.
Whatever Darth Vader and company are cooking up ain’t gonna be pretty.
All this scare talk..I don’t know. You should keep your inner Pollyana around. Of course we’ll be scared into obedience again. But scaring and scare talk doesn’t unite small people like us. What gives us our strength are acts of Pollyana: blind trust in each other, optimism.
Let me take this idea to an extreme…Jezus like I know…
Bush knows he is a criminal, we know and he knows we know. As a good psychopath he may not care. What matters is the folks whispering in his ears.
If we show enough ‘Pollyana’ just among ourselves these folks will realize we can not be broken. If we even showing ‘Pollyana’, forgiveness?, truth and reconciliation committee?, towards them… this may brake their determination…
Chocolate Ink, AG, what about it
flower power after all!!
Bush knows he is a criminal
I really don’t think he does.
His mindset reminds me strongly of my mom’s, so I base this on years of observing in her behavior that appears to be completely immoral. I am now 37 years old, and I have never even once in my life heard her apologize to anyone or admit a mistake.
To make matters worse she is horribly incompetent with money (spend spend spend without regard to whether she has the money, with hundreds of INSF charges over the years all of which are someone else’s fault in her eyes, usually the banks) but refuses to even discuss her finances with anyone or God forbid just let her extremely competent husband handle them (she says she handles them because doing the bills is bad for his blood pressure and he has had a heart attack already, but I’m just guessing that the 3-5 bounced check charges each and every month is probably even worse for his health). Luckily for her, he has given up losing their arguments and settles for ignoring their obvious problems, so she gets away with being insane by being domineering and completely sure of herself.
An example of how completely unconnected with reality such a person can be:
Their electricity in their country house has been off for months because they didn’t pay the bill, so mom and step-dad have been staying at their condo in Destin. My brother came home from the Army for a weekend to attend a wedding earlier this month. Apparently wanting him to stay at home during his trip trumped any common sense she might have, since she paid $800 to get the electricity turned back on in time for his visit, only to run out of money for the month on the 12th and bounce God knows how many checks since then. I doubt mom is even capable of realizing that she did something wrong, she generally demonstrates a complete psychological aversion to self-reflection (or planning ahead for that matter).
Anyway, I would guess that Bush sees the world completely in black and white, with the caveat that he is delusional and believes he is always in the right. Whatever he does is always on the side of the good guys, and anyone who opposes him or his allies is always a bad guy. Because his ethics are completely situational, without any self-reflection or memory, I doubt Bush ever thinks of himself as a criminal or as someone who has made a mistake.
When he does something, it’s good. When an opponent does the same thing, it’s bad. Criminal never enters into the thought process.
1)He has never been held accountable for any of his failures. Somebody has always been willing to come in and pay the tab.
2)His mother is not totally in touch with reality. She has this cuddly looking exterior but a barricuda interior. But it hasn’t mattered because all her needs are taken care of. She has never had any accountability moments either. The closest was after the comment she made in Houston about the people living in the dome.
3)Lies are a part of his life. Nothing is true. His background is public, yes. But did you ever hear him say WHAT he did in the National Guard? Other than published stuff? Most guys like to reminisce about such things. After all, he was a pilot. Was he a mile-higher? Can’t think but that somebody would leak that.
4)Lies are the basis of his presidency. Who is in charge? What is his philosophy? PNAC for sure, but do you hear the fruitcake talking about it?
5)Reality is a foreign substance to both him and his family. It is no wonder that his twin daughters bow out of that life whenever they can. Sheesh. Can you imagine? How would anybody in that family be able to articulate real feelings?
Agreed that Ma Bush is a piece of work, and his problems probably began there or even with previous generations that screwed her up emotionally.
As for being held responsible, it’s not as easy as it sounds. From experience with mom, you can’t say anything that they will actually pay attention to, and if you take something away from them as a penalty for their irresponsibility then they just get pissed and blame you for withholding something they deserve. From that point, they do everything possible to turn others against you until you give in and stop fighting.
I have tried many times to make her recognize her responsibility for one of her fuck-ups and she absolutely refuses to listen. The harder you try, the meaner she gets in retaliation until you finally drop it. She is immune from reason and I have given up even trying, as has everyone else in the family. It just isn’t worth the frustration, and I’m guessing everyone in George W.’s life feels the same way.
On the other hand, her delusional reality makes her pretty easy to manipulate if you can stomach doing that sort of thing. I rarely have any trouble convincing her that something that needs doing is in her own best interest even if she didn’t think so before, and she has boundless energy when it comes to getting something done when she wants it. I don’t do it when it isn’t necessary because it feels slimy to me, but I doubt people like Cheney have any qualms about manipulating Bush that way.
And don’t forget about cabal television!!!
AG
Doesn’t Diebold vote in most of those states?
With electronic voting, an October surprise may not actually be necessary, though it might add some good cover.
Watch the media. They tell you what you are meant to believe. When Fox News turns against Bush, you will know the time has come for a new dictator.
The Powers that Be may be split, but none of them want a return to democracy. That means it will not happen, Dems or no Dems.
Why can I say this? Look at the L-shaped curve of income distribution. There is more, of course, but that alone tells you all you need to know to understand what is happening in the American political economy.
if races are above 10% difference, Diebold will have a problem. 5% monkeying around isn’t as dramatic as a 10% change from the polls.
suppressing exit polls. Last time around the Repugs did remarkable well at this, despite patently bogus arguments.
If the Dems cannot make Diebold itself an issue, not only will they lose, they will be rendered irrelevant.
And yes, anyway they will lose, which–need I say it–makes it an uphill fight. Look at Mexico RIGHT NOW if you think otherwise.
they would emphasize the percentage they expect to win right before the polls open. True, it is not as good as exit polls, but they would have that benchmark to point to when requesting recounts. (Yes, I know. Recounts are not what they used to be pre Florida cabal!)
The whole sale price of gasoline is down about 21% in the last three weeks or so. Maybe it is an August, September, October surprise??
This was a very good “catch.”
To anticipate “Only some big national or international event before the election can change that” is only part of a strategy.
To wait and speculate about the “event” might be without putting into place a response would leave us all re-acting to the “new reality” created. “But, but, but…”
What could happen that would prevent elections? Never happened before? Well, we used to have a Constitution before.
Considering the low voter turnout, would all that many people even notice if elections weren’t held? Can’t imagine people “taking it to the streets” over canceled elections.
So what gets put into place now?
I agree with Gainne. They don’t need to cancel the elections, just create enough confusion and uncertainty that fixing them won’t be noticed.
Excellent. The thing that worries me the most is President Cheney.
Assuming they don’t suspend the constitution, (this may not be an option with the current attitude of the military twords Bush) If by chance John Conyers or Hennry Waxman are involved in any kind of accident, do not accept any explanation.
