We went ahead and got 3 rooms at the Congress (I’ll just cancel them if things don’t work out) but it doesn’t look like SN is going to be able to go. I’m going to do a diary some time this week and see who else is interested.
I really want to, but it’s not looking too good with kids, work, and that clinical rotation thing I need to start working on.
Can’t you all just come to Philly? October’s the nicest time of year here, we can barbecue on the patio here at the cabin, and there’s a million things to do here too.
Chicago is a short and pretty cheap flight for most people in the midwest (or drive for me and others), Philly unfortunately is not. If we can’t get people to Chicago, I don’t think we’ll have better luck getting them to Philly.
Though the offer of visiting your place is very appealing.
Depends on the schoolwork. In addition, it also depends on whether the Penn Dems meetings are on Tuesday nights, as they were last year. If I don’t have too much work, though, I’ll try to make it. 🙂
Hi all! Following up on Grandma M’s post regarding the ABC special “docudrama” “The Path to 9/11”. Think Progress has a link up that allows you to send a letter to ABC urging them to pull the program off the air, or correct its inaccuracies.
Hey folks! Got back from Drinking Liberally here in Philly. Pleasure chatting with Atrios, Booman and Delaware Dem, along with those I don’t know from the internets. Unfortunately, I did not drink liberally tonight (classes start tomorrow), but it was a good time nevertheless.
HJ is driving me crazy. It’s one of her mad skillz. I’ve been reading on the net that it’s not a great idea to spay them when they’re still in heat because sometimes the precipitous drop in progesterone causes them to go crazy. She’s been running around the house like a mad dog, growling, snapping at us, barking. Then she exhausts herself and looks at me with such sad eyes like she doesn’t know why she acted that way. Actually, it’s quite similar to the way I feel these days.
I would have thought the vet wouldn’t have done it if it would cause a problem — although I do think I remember the vet saying they shouldn’t be spayed until they’d had their first heat.
Anybody here?
!oooolleH
Yup there is an echo in here.
Slow as molasses around here today…
How are you this evening?
Just fine.
Are you on your back-to-school high?
Yeah, although it almost seemed too quiet around here by noon. I’m sure I’ll adjust. 🙂
How about you?
Jim’s been back since 8/15 so that initial endorphin rush of the-house-it’s-all-mine-again is over.
Well, it’s fun while it lasts anyway. How are the Chicago plans coming along?

Are you still planning on coming?

Hey, you can’t blame me for trying… 🙂
That architectural cruise is very appealing.
Yeah I think it really sounds like fun. Guess I better think about doing that diary and seeing who else thinks so.
<feeling guilty>
It’s one of my mad skillz — I am my mother’s child.
and I’m catholic so it comes naturally.
go left and tell me what’s new with colin and ryan and hopeful jr.
but equally guilty.
Quick question, CabinGirl – what was your excuse for not coming to DL? 😛
She knew her mere presence would outshine everyone else there and she especially wanted you to have your moment.
My boys had their first day of school today, and I need to get them off to a good start for the year.
Will you be able to go next week?
Depends on the schoolwork. In addition, it also depends on whether the Penn Dems meetings are on Tuesday nights, as they were last year. If I don’t have too much work, though, I’ll try to make it. 🙂
Sounds like you had a good time tonight. Did it stop raining by the time you got down there?
Nah, it was still raining when I got there. However, it was barely raining by the time I left, which was around 8:15 or so.

Done your Japanese studying?
I did half of it earlier…going to start the other half after I catch up on the news I missed the past 3 hours or so.

Does it say on the net whether her body chemistry will return to normal?
I would have thought the vet wouldn’t have done it if it would cause a problem — although I do think I remember the vet saying they shouldn’t be spayed until they’d had their first heat.
The vet didn’t know anything about it and asked me to tell him what I read. It was obvious that she was a completely different dog after the surgery.
And yes, hopefully, she’ll be back to normal before too long. I’ve had to give her valium one night this week to calm her down. :/
Um, maybe the vet should know this already?
I hope she returns to normal soon.
I think I’ll switch vets, although to be fair, it’s not a very common after effect. I was really bugged that he didn’t know anything about it.
I would have been irritated that he wanted me to do the research for him for free. Pfft.
My vet just started doing house calls. Is that weird?
I guess you could try out HRT and if it went well for you, try it on HJ.
All kidding aside, I hope she gets back to normal soon. Crazy dogs are tough to deal with.
…and I have a migraine and cramps. :::whine:::
Poor baby. There, there.
Here, this will help.
Mmm…matzoh balls.
Now I just want to whimper because it looks so good and I can’t eat it. I had a turkey sandwich for lunch and have felt like total ass ever since.
Well it’s just the comforting thought anyway — I won’t make any for real until cold weather arrives.
How’s Ryan doing?
Hope you and HJ feel better tomorrow, SN.
See ya tomorrow, Andi!
