I just wanted to post a plug for a special event next Wednesday, Sept. 27, 7-9 pm, in Oakland. Comedian Will Durst and former SF Mayor Willie Brown are going to be hosting an evening at the Grand Lake Theater (3200 Grand Ave) to energize Bay Area progressives to get involved in important races in their own backyard. Special guests will be Jerry McNerney (running against Rep. Richard Pombo in CA-11), Charlie Brown (running against John Doolittle in CA-04), Pete McCloskey (former US Congressman and author of the Endangered Species Act who came out of retirement to run against Pombo in the Rep primary and has now endorsed the Dem candidates), and Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates. The entire event is being recorded for broadcast on Air America’s local morning program, the Will & Willie Show.
The cost is just enough to help defray expenses: $10 per person. You can buy advance tickets at the Grand Lake or buy them at the door. It should be fun!
Hey girl! How the hell are you? Sure wish I lived up there. Have fun abd hope you get a great crowd.
I’m doing great! And super busy too working on various campaigns. I hope I’ll get to spend more time at the pond after 11/7 😉
Oh Heck…now I read this… sigh. :>(
You know, I could walk to the Grand Lake Theater!
Ugh.
Hugs to you and Leezy!
Hi Kamakhya! What do you mean “now I read this”??? It’s NEXT Wednesday! Be there or be square!
Hugs to all!
LOL! I am so out of time right now, I am in October already!
So right you are. I will try to make it. I am on crutches right now (tore my ACL and will have surgery on 10/20, hence my obsession with October) and I am in the process of moving. But, this is cool and if I could walk, I could walk to it. :>) I’ll talk to my friend who is really moving me and see if she would like a night off at the Theater!
Kama…sorry to hear of your gimpiness. Take good care of yourself. Is this another move since you were here in MArch? Did you ever paint?
I always forget to look at these regional boards. Sorry for the delay in my response.
This is the move I have been talking about for a while. It is finally coming to pass. However due to my gimpiness, among other things, I will not be able to paint for a while. I promised Kamakid, though, that her room would be first. Once I get the living room set up, I will see what kind of color scheme will work best.
