May the 4’s be with you
The chef seems to have disappeared so the kitchen is closed for the night. But full bar service is available as usual.
Where’d you go Olivia?
I’m research past photo fair diaries … đ
how to do that? I’m figuring out how to do my shoe pictures from Italy for Izzy and that would be a nice touch for what I’m thinking of. But I’m really HTML challenged.
here’s the code:
but it LOOKS so complicated …
I’m going to go try it.
Just remember to hit preview.
I previewed it in a diary so I could delete it if I accidentally hit post.
It worked! How do you make the shading change sides?
div style=”border-style: outset to
div style=”border-style: inset
thanks, I’ll be back in a minute.
That put the shading on the left but also at the top. Can I put it on the left and the bottom?
not sure …
here’s a link to the other border styles: link
I only know enough to be dangerous … đ
That’s a good site! But I still can’t figure it out. Maybe tomorrow when I’m more focused đ
and then you can let me know đ
It’s aqua for me đ
You mean over and above the rewards you get for knowing you’ve given joy to all the BT denizens? đ
We’re going to keep w/ last year’s format, which was to not make it a competition.
Joy should be enough đ
Hope you’re all doing well. I have a bunch of studying I need to do, even though I’m at sanity’s end, having gotten only 4.5 hours of sleep last night.
So … you stopped in to tell us that you couldn’t stay? That’s not very nice đ
Sanity’s end is not good this early in the semester.
Well, it’s better to leave early before you start asking me what I want to talk about, right? đ
Topic of the week occurs on Sunday night usually and this is Saturday night. I don’t think I could be serious on a Saturday night.
Come back tomorrow night and I’ll be up for it. But you’d better rest up đ
Hey olivia! How ya doin?
how are you holding up w/ your return to school … do you have a favourite class?
School is tough. I hope I can make it through the semester with myself and my GPA in one piece.
As for a favorite class…don’t really have one right now. Can I say there’s a class I dislike the least? đ
…which one would that be?
I’m not really sure. Probably accounting, as it requires the least amount of active work completion. But I don’t really like it either.
Put simply, I kinda dislike all of my classes at the moment.
and have any fun đ
Just because your’e going to be a famous film star in an Acadamy Award winning documentary doesn’t mean you should isolate yourself like Michael Jackson.
Very funny. đ I think I’ll be lucky to make the cut at all.
it could be due to two causes:
1. You’re in the wrong major.
or
2. The newness of being in college has worn off and you just won’t be happy about anything because you’ve figured out that it’s all a load of crap anyway.
đ
Hi yO, mary b…long time no see
đ
I got carried away … it’s addictive đ
how’s it going w/ u?
It has been a long time. I don’t think I’ve been here on a Saturday night in months. Glad you showed up too đ
you just got back from Italy…right?
I’m envious…:{)
yeah, I got back last Sunday. I wish I could have stayed longer, but RL calls đ
from the little bits I’ve been able to catch the past week, it sounds like you had a great time.
I really like Italy, esp the countryside…away from the bustle of the cities.
I like the cities for short periods, but the crowds (and the vespas!) get to me after a while. I spent less than a day in Rome this time and we never got into Florence this trip. And that was OK with me.
I like the pace of the country.
When was the last time you were there?
time flies…spent 4 days in Venice and then went to the “Hill Country”…really liked Venice…except for the food; which was really surprisingly mediocre.
but it doesn’t have the best food in Italy. Tuscany has great food. Umbria had good food, but I think I liked Tuscany better.
very true…arrived by train, very late at night in a dense fog…it was like a 40’s Noir film…kept expecting to see Bogart…:{)
Some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying in Europe was in Provence…incredible!
is on my list of places. I was pushing for it to be our trip next year but there seems to be a contingent that wants to go to Spain. I’ve never been there either.
I didn’t get the fog effect in Venice, but I saw the early morning golden sun. The light really is different there than anywhere else. đ
only time I was there was working on a project in Barcelona…didn’t get to see much…did catch some of the architecture tho…Gaudi’s Cathedral is amazing, photos do not do it justice…still not finished.
photos do not do it justice. and all the photos I’ve seen of it have been amazing.
Spain’s a real possibility.
did you decide not to go out?
probably going for abit, but driving myself so I can duck out early. Just waitin’ on a phone call for the venue decision.
Somebody should get out tonight! (Not that I’m not loving having you around …)
sounds like you had a wonderful time in Italy.
Did ya talk any international politics with any of the locals over there?
Bring back any insights on the world, cosmos, human nature, ?
I didn’t really have any political discussions beyond making it clear that if it were up to me George Bush wouldn’t be president. Which always went over well đ
The last time I was there (2003) I had a number of conversations — although now that I think about it they were all with Germans.
There were very few american tourists though — which was REALLY nice.
yeah, the fewer the A tourist the better as far as I was concerned whenever I travelled.
I could hardly stand the embarassing behavior when I did run into them.
Like in the Oslo airport the Americans are pissed, I mean pissed that the clerks at the counter would not take US coins, not bills, coins!!! They must have thought they were still in Peoria!
The worst on this trip were in a chocolate store in Perugia. A father, mother and little boy who was about 2 years old. The mother threw a screaming fit at the little boy because he touched something. I mean he was literally a kid in a candy shop — she didn’t think he would touch anything.
She was screaming. It was awful.
The whole three weeks I spent in Norway when I was there last, I never heard any children screaming anywhere, and never heard parents screaming either, to me it almost seemed surreal!
There’s actually “civilization” across the pond…everyone I know who travels to europe, make a effort to not appear to be americans…sad state of affairs
I never try to pretend I’m not American I just try to behave appropriately and respectfully.
And frankly, everyone’s going to know I’m american just by looking at me. The best I could do would be to pretend I’m Canadian. And it’s too much trouble to say “eh” all the time and talk aboot hockey đ
like baseball caps, etc.
However, you’re right, up close and personal it would be hard to avoid recognition.
But if one can escape detection at a distance I think that would be a worthwhile.
It’s more of a visual thing, if I’m not mistaken…trying not to dress “american” as it were…once you speak everyone knows.
And I agree, just be respectful and appropriate in demeanor…it’s generally returned, in my experience.
the guy I talked to on the ferry in Norway. I innocently asked, “Where you from?” as I am wont to do most anywhere even in the US.
I was suprised when he lowered his voice to a very quiet whisper, and said, “Israel”
Of, course, then I realized maybe my opening question for strangers would have to be revised.
So now I suppose we are the ones whispering in response to that question.
yeah. I told the sales clerk that “those people” are embarassing and I hope you don’t think all Americans are like that. Of course she said no.
was setting in so I figured whatthehell. I need a new razor tho, this one was…rough. (and no, i did not shave my legs)
can be quite attractive. I like it — from afar. I just don’t like when it tries to kiss me. Stubble burn is not pleasant.
to shave every other day or else I return to Yeti status. It’s annoying but necessary for “professionalism” at work. Too bad my attitude destroys that đ
I’m off for the evening, you all have a good one. See you around the ether.
Don’t Bogart that mi amigo…
Hey Manny…que pasa/
I finally showered for the day. I’m a decent multitasker but the laptop isn’t too compatible with water.
How goes it? Not bad here, just getting ready for some Sat. night frivolity.
finally get a break tomorrow…then another week of insanity.
Get thee out for some serious frivolity…you could probably use it more than me
it seems like it never ends so I’m feeling like I should grasp the bull by the cuernos whenever the opportunity presents itself to have a social life.
bowl, or did ya suck’r dry?
wuzup NDD?
UND won over Western Washington, 26-20, but it was nip and tuck, then we had a 40th birthday party for b-i-l, those are always fun. well long as it wasn’t another decadence-th birthday for me
how was the weather…nice fall day for a game or have you got the grey, cold windy stuff that’s hanging around here?
however the game was played indoors. which is just the way I like it.
Last one I went to outdoors a couple of years back I had on a carhartt coverall, and could have give a sh*t what anyone thought of how “cool” I looked. I was toasty whilst the rest sat there and shivered, ha ha
it had been overcast but cleared as we drove N of Fargo.
I’ll restrain myself from further comment…:{)
Another long time no see at BT đ
especially on a night with some of the old gang making an appearance.
I’ve been out of town and away from high speed internet much of the summer, so it’s been easier to avoid the longer loading sites, like BT.
Just tried to keep up with the real news via Buzzflash, TO, etc.
Most likely I’ll be on more often now that fall has arrived and I’ll be spending more time in the city once again.
Good night all!
pleasant dreams!
look forward to more travel tales another day
Test one, test two, test, test.
It worked! Way to go! đ
