Not up to a ‘good’ yet.
I’m still trying to wake up too. Is it raining out your way?
It rained almost all day yesterday but at the moment it’s just partly soggy.
Nice early morning birthday card you did.
We’re supposed to be dry till around noon.
Do you think he’ll be surprised? 🙂
Muggy and warm this morning and after taking the dog out for about 5 minutes I’m covered with mosquito bites. But other than that everything is cool.
We have the most vicious crop of mosquitoes here this year too. I’m ready for cooler weather so they die off.
Headache gone, I hope.
Tell the mosquitos it’s fall and they need to go wherever it is they go until next spring.
I’m not sure the mosquitoes have a calendar since they don’t seem to disappear until we have a hard frost, which might be another six weeks. Ick.
Have you been out for your morning trek yet?
Our mosquitoes also seem to be immune to repellent this year too.
I haven’t headed out for the trek yet…I thought I’d write a paragraph or 2 of my paper that’s due tomorrow before I went, while everyone’s still asleep here.
What are you doing today?
I’m not sure what I’m doing today. Colin is home until 2 or so and then he has to head back to school. Maybe take the boys out to brunch somewhere. Looks like it’ll be rainy and hot today.
Not yet. On weekends I can wait until I am actually awake and can see where I am going. I probably won’t go until around 9.
I think we’re in for the rain you had yesterday. It’s looking pretty dark and gloomy.
I’ve been leaving the dog sleeping on the couch when I go to bed at night instead of crating her in my room. Last night she came up and jumped in bed with me in the middle of the night, so the hoped for night alone in bed didn’t really work out. And this morning I noticed she dropped a deuce on the rug downstairs before she came up. :/
Sorry about the “gift”. I like sleeping with Sniff. Unlike Jim he can snuggle up and stay still.
HJ stays very still – right on top of me.
I’m off to make coffee and read the paper. Have a good walk.
Morning all!!!! Another gloomy day here but we need the rain so I am not complaining. I am supposed to go to a company event being held at Sea World today but think I will skip it as I hate being outdoors in bad weather. LOL I have no desire to drive to San Antonio and then wind up being in the rain.
I hear you…company events are bad enough by themselves, add some rain and they become intolerable.
LOL AMen!!!!! I have been playing with the video maker again.

This one is called Protest Letter
Morning all! Today, I followed the Family Man formula and slept until 9:15. The rain gods smiled on our rally yesterday and stopped the downpour just before the kickoff at 4:00. We had a pretty good turnout despite the sogginess and I didn’t see anyone mired down in the field we parked in;-)
I thought black & white might be a better representation of the rainy day and the general depressionesque tone of the national condition these days.
I like that photo. I like how everyone’s attention is focused on the speaker (or whatever) and the earnest looks on their faces.
This rally was for local candidates and I don’t remember which speaker it was. Its tough for me to disengage long enough to shoot pictures. I get so deeply into whatever’s happening. Mrs. Dem says I don’t multi-task well!
Here’s one more I liked. The guy on the left is a retired UAW man, running for office for the first time. I’ve not seen the older gentleman at a rally here before yesterday. He seemed to enjoy himself, though.
Glad things went well!!!!!
Just visited your YouTube page. I liked your Protest Letter best. I’m a big blues fan and so is Mrs. Dem. Nice work on all three!
Thank you!!!! I am a big blues fan also. I actually like all types of music and as I go through my collection of “protest songs”, I will be doing more videos. Can you tell I am having fun with this? LOL
Keep up the good work! (And fun!)
How does one access your YOU TUBE ?
Hi KNUCKLEHEAD, refinish69 left a link to the YouTube page upthread, just above my first black & white photo.
Thanks, Indianadem.
I`ll have to thank Refinish69 also, for good music & a better message.
Good Morning everyone. I’m off to a family brunch this morning — one of my cousins is in town so we’re all getting together. I’m in totally selfish mode and am I’m hoping that she is the one who is cooking (not my aunt) since she is a graduate of the culinary institute and works as a chef in Boston. (Not the “big” chef yet, but more than a sous chef.)
Would that be the CIA? (Culinary Instiute of America) We have a client whose son attended there.
Yes, she’s from the CIA 🙂
One would assume that you may have brunched quite “high on the hog” today, then?
Good morning/afternoon, all! Great to see you.
Andi, I couldn’t let the cafe’ close without offering grateful appreciation for the beautiful image above — yet another spiritual happy-pill for yours truly, the sweaty urban captive.
Hope all’s well with y’all today.
PS: Can someone re-inform me about reducing the page on screen? I’m currently doing that annoying ping-pong thing in order to read. Grazie.
Gotta run — semi-elderly mom in need of assistance. Apologies to Andi for typical dive-bombing.
The more things change ..
Hey Wilderness Wench! Long time no see — if you get this message! I have been maintaining a low profile due to advanced CTS symptoms which have basically put my life on hold, except I am still limping along at work. My profile is so low that I even lost my mojo! Never thought it could happen on BT, but the formula does kick in after a time. I look forward to hearing how things are going for you.
Glad to see stop by.
Just wondering — have you tried out any of the speech recognition software?
Hey AndiF! The speech recognition software that I have for the Mac really sucks. I was never able to “train” it successfully after many tries. In my case it’s just not the “quick fix” it’s cracked up to be. However, once I’m on the mend, this could be a good long term adaptation to ensure I never get into such dire straits again.
Glad you enjoyed the pic but I hope you’ll be able to head back home soon so you won’t need it so much.
On the screen display — can you make the browser window any bigger? If it’s already as wide as you can make, then the thing to do is to reduce the text size.
Been pretty much wiped out the last several days — not sure if it’s a side effect of the new med the doctor has me on, or if something else is going on (physical, mental and/or emotional). If I can’t seem to get it together for school this week, I might drop and try again in January; got a couple of weeks though before I have to decide if I want to get my money back.
Very frustrating… 🙁
I recognize that. 🙂
Anybody here?
Yes & I`m taking the oportunity to test my newly acquired posting skill, thanks to MS. Olivia`s coaching. This is a little Gobi in her breeding cave. The Q-Tip is there to scale the size of little momma.
She looks very perturbed that you are taking her picture 🙂
But the colors are AMAZING.
Yes, she hates having her picture taken. She has to deal with the crabs & larger animals stealing the eggs which she is mostly incapable of fending off. I usually take a container for 50 CD`s & cut it in half. I put this down over the cave complex against the side of the tank, with enough room for her to get in & out, but not for shrimp & crabs to get at her eggs.
this is so great … if you could see me now, I’ve got a huge smile on my face … 😀
wow, she’s tiny!
You seem as proud as the momma fish. Rightly so.
There is so much going on in that little amont of space. The little white dots next to the Q-Tip shaft are grains of sand glued together by the worms coming out the top. Above the sand grain structure is an opening, reddish in colour that`s the mouth of the red sponge in the same cave as the worms.
do you use a special (close-up) lens to get that close?
No, as a matter of fact I was lamenting my lack of one. I have these coral poyps that come out at night that I want to shoot but can`t get close enough to.
I`m going to try the D2H again as I wasn`t able to give it a true test when I had it for a few weeks. I would not buy that camera because of it`s bulk but I`ll probably be picking up an SLR within the next month. I`m going to have a D70 [I think that`s what it`s called] for a test also.
Here are the night-time polyp extensions.
how was your day?
It was good. Too busy for me to figure out HTML 🙂
was hoping you’d figured out the colour/color thing … 🙂
when you get it done, are you going to post your shoe diary here or at ET or both?
when I figure it oot I’ll tell you aboot it 🙂
Probably just ET — after all, they ARE European shoes …
I’ll wait until some day that Izzy is around though.
Hey, I am…even though I should really be reading about IMiDs and myeloma instead. How was your weekend?
Gosh your life is exciting 🙂
Are those something I should worry about or can I leave it to you medical types?
My weekend was good, although the weather was a little rainy. And yours?
Yeah, always a thrill a minute here at Chez Cabin.
We hung out here at home today, doing homework (CBs) and working on a manuscript that’s due tomorrow morning (CG).
Did your CIA cousin cook the brunch today? 🙂
She only supervised. Everyone but me thought she shouldn’t have to cook on her vacation. What pushovers 🙂
It all turned out great though. And it was nice to visit with her before she went back east.
Well, I hope you straightened them all out. 🙂
It was sunday — the day of rest, so I decided not to fight them on it.
Speaking of rest, I think it’s time for bed…G’night, all.
g’night
Long time since I’ve run into you in the cafe. I’m going to ask how your w/e was too, but I’ll read your answer to maryb. 🙂
Hi! I’m usually not up late enough to catch you. 😉
How are you enjoying the first offical weekend of fall?
I love fall, and since it was so nice today I spent it hiking and taking pix in Gatineau Park in Quebec. The leaves have started changing here.
That looks lovely Olivia. How far away is it from where you live?
about 20min by car.
That sounds like a perfect day to me, especially with the way leaves look like they’re starting to change color. Did you have to hike up the hill to take that picture?
this was where we started … a look-out. from there, you can walk all the way around the lake.
