Half a century, or as my kids say, Dinosaur Age.
Oh No1 The bif five oh!! Welcome to my world. I just turned 54. How did we get here so fast is what I want to know.
God I wish we could edit comments. Oh No!! The biG five oh.
I wish we could edit them too. I always psot before I catch my typos.
Oh well.
And yes, so quickly it goes.
8 years ago, there was a surprise birthday party for one of my uncles.
Here’s a parphase of what my uncle said on his 60th birthday and to who and why–“30’s nothing! (This was to his daughter who was freaking out because she was going to be thirty the next month.) 40’s nothing! (That was to me, I had just turned 40 and ignored it.) 50’s nothing! (That was to his eldest son, who still thinks and acts like this is still the 60’s–you know what I mean.) Now, 60, that’s when you start realizing that age is going to hit you, and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.”
Then, we drank a toast in honor of pearls of wisdom. Afterward, the poker game started. Not even an hour into the game, my uncle started doing shots–Crown Royal.
And, believe it or not, this is one of my the saner moments re: my relatives. Unfortunately, those are fewer and father between. Normally, you don’t want anything else to do with them. (And the last sentence is especially true today.)

Thanks goodness for birthdays. They give us the chance to tell folks how much we appreciate them. And Steven, you deserve all of the appreciation we can give.
So thanks for all you do – we know its alot of work – but its important work and we are all the better for it.

Spoil yourself today Steven. Fifty is no big deal, once you can adjust to the idea. But the real shock will come next year when you have to add another year.
Then you will realize that it just keeps going up, and you’re deep into the second half. Scary!
