Who would play you if this was a TV Series?
Who would play you if this was a TV Series?
We like to both shake AND stir things up around here!

Please recommend (and unrecommend the Cafe/Lounge from earlier)

Hey! That 4 looks good on you!
So who would play you — if this was a TV show?
It would have to be for me.
I thought you were off finding a pix of Max Baer.
Nope, but this would be closer.
See what smoking does to you?
That look came from hanging around the still to much. π
Let’s see – cataracts, wrinkles, bad teeth….nope, a smoker.
Add that with the still and you might have it.
What he’s hiding under his overalls is that smoking causes erectile dysfunction. Not that that matters to you and Arnold Ziffle.
Doesn’t rally matter. How many times do you think a guy that looks like that is going to get lucky. π
That’s what I’m tryin to tell ya, FM!
Good one. π
dada left a message for you in the last cafe.
Is it salacious? π
How was your day today?
I don’t think so — but I’m too lazy to look up what salacious means.
It’s a recipe.
What’s up Olivia?
Not too much here — Ottawa lost tonight π
and it’s hockey! Only the playoffs matter.
I’m waiting for the Cardinals to complete their collapse tomorrow. I’m going to be somewhat disappointed if they manage to get into the playoffs.
it’s a pre-season game too … π
yeah … why try now, the bums …
You live in St. Louis, and you don’t like the Cardinals? Oh, you probably live in the ‘burbs. Not really in St. Louis.
FYI my first “dangerous” toy was a minature St. Louis Cardinals bat I got at a Cardinals game. I might have to bring it to Chicago. (My spouse just warned me not to bring anything from the redbirds to Chicago).
I love them enough to understand that their stupid management will do NOTHING in the off season if they manage to squeak into the playoffs. They’ll just say …. “Look, another year and we went to the playoffs.”
The only reason the Cardinals are leading the central division is because the rest of the division is so bad.
Yes, well, you are right on that, for certain.
Kidspeak made the above comment while accidentally logged in as me. I’m pulling for the Cards to completely crater. I’m tired of hearing about the ’64 Phillies swan dive. Besides, LaRussa is an over-rated egomaniac, McGwire was a doped-up embarassment, the old Busch stadium was hideous, and Carpenter is a bust. Other than that, I love the Cardinals.
Sorry to hear that. We’re talking hockey aren’t we. :~)
π
How’s the coffee drinking going — still taking daily doses?
Turns your beard gray and makes your sideburns fall out?
LOL!
This is going to be an expensive series if it’s part live action and part animation.
Interesting concept though FM. Maybe the live blogger is a real actor and the username is a cartoon character.
Just as long as my character is a country bumpkin that eats grits we’ll be OK. π
You’re the writer. At least you said you were in your mansion being a writer right now ….
Ah yes. But if the man of mystery was really a country bumpkin pretending to be a writer who is pretending to be a cartoon character…….
This is for better minds than mine. π
Most likely this guy.
Quick, who is he and what is he doing in this picture?
First runner up:
Second runners up:
Yeah, I wish I could sing and play banjo like either of these guys.
Is the second runner up the guy who played Kris Kringle?
or maybe it’s Burl Ives …
Yes, why yes it is.
No, that would be the first runner up. Also one of the second runners-up has a different, well-known Christmas connection.
I used to love the commercials where the stop-motion characters rode the Norelco razors π
Yeah, those were pretty good. It seems to me like in the very earliest years the special was shown, GE was the sponsor, but I don’t remember what the ads were like.
Good evening, all. Been watching video of Newt Gingrich all day and I need really need a drink.
I was once told by a group of people I’d spent six weeks of intensive training with that I should be played by Vincent D’Onofrio. They said it was because of my intensity, not the backwards head or the roaches problem. That’s what they said.
I’d prefer a manic Kevin Klein from “A Fish Called Wanda.”
If Lucy and Ricky are finished arguing, I’m over here.
Well Ricky is very tired and it’s past my bed time.
Everyone have a good night in the pond.
Night FM
got some ‘splainin to do!
SNL season premiere is on tonight. I think Dane Cook is hosting. Love him.
I watched SNL at all last year.
Yeah, it kinda sucks now. But I’m anxious to see the very beginning because it’s usually the best part of the show and they’ve had a whole summer of Bush material to work with.
this means you’re staying up late? It’s on at 11:30 your time isn’t it.
How wild of you SN π
Heh. I don’t know what’s happened to me. I used to stay up until 1 or 2 and get up at 7 with the kids when they were little. Now I can barely stay up for the Daily Show and Colbert.
on lost sleep. Now that you can. If only HJ would let you π
I think being anemic helps. π
I think I’m going to take an early leave and go downstairs with the kids while they’re all here for the weekend.
Night maryb.
Don’t tell me you made sushi at home.
and I didn’t.
and the excellent and the wonderful
really ….
I’m glad you enjoyed it.
So the Berghoff it is.
spaetzle … I’m there.
Well normally that would make my mouth water but right now the thought of eating anything is kinda horrifying.
but since you live in the woods that might be dangerous.
If there’s a bright enough moon, it’s very nice to walk at night in the woods.
I think I’m just going to give up and go to bed with a full belly.
Night.
Is that e.coli soup?
It’s Chawanmushi, a japanese egg custard with soy beans, parsnips, shrimp, and chicken and it is exquisite.
eat cooked food in Chicago.
Is that squid?
No squid. Clam, tuna, salmon, bonito, and a white fish that I’m not sure what it was.
OK, strike the first thing, and it might be edible.
Looks like you and your bil celebrated in fine style. π
but I’m not sure I’m going to be able to get up the steps to get to bed — maybe Sniff can push me.
How was your evening?
Nice evening here — despite the game results. I bought a french press this afternoon — bodum — it’s visually pleasing. π
and I hope the coffee it makes is also très élégante.
Did you get that cafe pic?
and it’s uploaded and ready to go. FM did a very nice job. Or was it you and FM?
He did a great job.
I’m to bed, even if I have to go up the steps wriggling on my full, full belly.
Have a nice night and pleasant dreams.
Not to mention the things that look like catfish about to mate.
Testing, un deux, un deux, test, test.
“Testing” & “test” spoken with a Quebec accent.
That little snail had better be really careful where it slithers…. Yikes! Great photo though.
it’s worked on ye olde mac…gives new meaning to the phrase “risky business”…great shot Head!
Hey dada,
I was waiting to see you here. I was looking at your photos from last years FF & was amazed at your photos. I thought they were very well thought out & it seemed obvious [to me] how much time must have been spent {& rolls of film] to achieve what you did. excellent.
Check out the car & motorcycle collection I went to see yesterday. It was a fairly rare public showing of Otis Chandler`s collection. It will be auctioned off in the next few weeks & will never be seen as a whole collection again. The rarity of many of these machines & their immaculate condition was simpl mind-boggling.

thanks…back in my film days…still cataloging and digitizing it…long, slow process. Still trying to get comfortable w/ the xt dig canon, and making small steps of progress.
What an amazing collection of stuff…why’s it being split up?
The man died & his family can`t be bothered with it from what I understand. Bummer. He owned the LOS ANGELES TIMES & it`s been in the family for years. He seemed like a pretty cool guy. He hired the best people to run the paper & was confident enough with them, to let them do their job while he went & enjoyed life to the max.
you’d think they’d have enough $ to set up a trust or an endowment, or somekind of entity to maintain the collection…there’s a lot of very rare stuff there, just after a cursory look at the site.
Greed’s the only answer I can think of…sad
It`s hard to think that money is the motivation, but I could be wrong. Many of the cars will have at least a million dollar reserve on them. He didn`t just collect cars. He collected the “only” car, the first of it`s model , “one of three known to exist” cars. His life spent out in the wild on hunting trips as a conservationist seems to be in opposition or oxymoronic, but his knowledge about habitat infringement & the true reasons why animals become endangered surprised me.
Maybe it`s envy. It must be one of the vices though. I don`t think it would be for a better cause or for the betterment of mankind. It seems they lend money to god, they have to anyway.
The colours … the perspective … the subject.
And the thumbnail link works for me as well on PC … π
Hi, Olivia. Are we finally both here at the cafe at the same time?
How ya doing?
No!! I’m here, I’m here. How are you?
Finally … π
Doing okay, but yes, it is late … π
What’s up w/ you and Gooserock and the Totos?
I’ve been busy planting new stuff and building new gardens. Also, Gooserock put up a post on my blog.
What kind of plants?
Shrubbery. A Heptacodium (never saw them before but they look pretty in the photo), a Sweet Mock Orange with a double blossom, an ORANGE twig dogwood with nice fall colour (we don’t have much for fall colour around Puget sound), a Euonymous europaeus (google that one, it’s worth it), and a couple other things I can’t remember since I’m on my second glass of wine.
Orange twig dogwood sounds interesting. And I did a google and the flowers for that look like fuschia! Wow!
Really??? I didn’t know that? Do you have the link? Maybe I’m smarter than I thought. LOL
Well….guess I’d better let you go to bed. I’ll take some photos and post them to my blog in a couple days. Good night.
I’ll be over tomorrow to visit your b and Gooserock’s newest post … a nice morning treat. π

Down in the field near the cactus.
Well, I guess I missed you again. What’s the matter? Just because it’s almost 2:00 a.m. in Ottawa. You mean you went to bed? Lol
