What’s wrong with this picture?
Apparently, FOX identified Foley as a Democrat three separate times during last night’s Bill O’Reilly show. I am sure this was just a mistake.

Wasnt the Chandra Levy scandal, like the WTC itself, vaporized by 09_11_2001? I pray theres not a 9-11 Part Two in the works.
They figured the vast majority of their viewers were too stupid to notice.
They were hoping the wingnuts would go balistic seeing a D there and come out and vote to put those sexual pervert dems away come November. KKKarl Rove if ever I saw a slimeball move.It must be Clinton’s fault.
Of course they know no one will believe it, not even their base, as it is the exact opposite of the truth, a truth that even their base knows.
But I recieve that message differently. I believe Foley is arbitrary but useful at the moment. Of course they will come back and say it was a mistake, of course he is a Republican. But then the damage is already done.
What I believe this is, is an association of symbols game. I think they are putting the “D” there next to a disgusting child predator and allowing the unconscious make an association of Dem = Gay Man who wants your children. Yes, Gay Man because they want to reenforce the bigotry against homosexuality, association as the cause of pedophillia, etc. and the democrats.
Maybe I am being too academic in this and looking at it as a semiotic exercise in the Sign= Signifier/Signified, but keep in mind that it is also in the AP and was in the LA Times today.
the question is: are the juveniles, or scientists?
Though they seem to be in disarray, Booman, and I think Rove is given too much credit at times, I would still say they are pretty competant propagandists and this would seem to be a classic psy-op that would occur to any former military psy-op person or MBA marketing strategist grasping for straws.
The AP and LA Times referenced Foley as a Democrat, or noticed that Fox incorrectly labeled him as one?

I believe Foley as democrat. May have even included reynolds if he is the guy who switched parties right before the election. Chalked up to bad research in the op-ed.

LA Times Before the correction:

They just reek of being intentional “errors”, don’t they?
exactly. But still, I think this stunt just shows how desparate they really are.

I think it was obviously deliberate. I think we’re going to see a lot more of that. And I think that a good one-third or more of the Republican base will go to the grave believing Foley was a typical Democrat.
I was getting a haircut at a barbershop yesterday, and I said something about how alarming the Foley story was. About three people immediately piped up and said: “But the Democrats are even worse. You know, that Barney guy.”

It’s in my profile–Carroll County, Maryland (rural area NW of Baltimore). The reddest part of a very blue state. My congressman, I regret to say, is Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD).
The crowd in the local barbershop was quick to dump on Dems. But for what it’s worth, there were also several comments to the effect that “now, it’s okay to be gay, but you can’t go hitting on kids.”
This little snapshot experience of mine supports your idea that most people won’t be fooled by Fox and others claiming Foley is a D. But I think there really are quite a few who will be fooled.

What a world we live in. You never could have even suggested to me ten years ago that any of this crap would ever take place in the US of A. God help us all.

There is no way that, FOX/Jackal, made a mistake. This company and their terrorizing tactics must be stopped before Ayatollah O’ReillyNEJAD starts issuing fatwas. Boycotting no longer works. The only way I can think of, is to tell our cable companies to replace this station from our package with another “none free” station – such as a sport channel that is not a free part of the package- or we will cancel the subscription. It will not work if you just tell them that you don’t want fox. There will be no statistic showing the effects. If enough people cancel their subscription for even one month, fox’s management will be replaced.
Since some of the wingnuts (Rush; the Drudge report to name two) are pushing the view that Foley is a victim of the Liberals (who have created such a permissive society that they actually have encouraged Foley and others to do things like this), I guess they need to co-ordinate their news…er misinformation a bit better. Foley is now apparently a Democrat (who has donated huge chunks of $$ to the Republican Party), while at the same time a victim of the Democrats. Black is White, War is Peace…….it’s all perfectly clear to me?
