for whatever ails ya.
I wonder if the drink special involves whatever substance can be gleaned from licking the frog’s backside O:)
doesn’t sound very enticing.
that’s a somewhat disgusting thought …
at least it got you to de-lurk for another comment 😛
disgusting thoughts?
huh.
I associate everyone with disgusting thoughts. Tis the life of the gutter-dwellers.
I think you might want to ask Keres to mail you a few frogs from down under, ‘cuz their suppose to be the best for a little “trip.”
Hi! Ready for our next trip?
The picture is excellent…where are we going? Philly?
We were thinking mid south — someplace SN could drive to. Nashville?
Charlottesville, VA
Asheville, NC
Charleston, SC (okay, that’s probably too far)
smokies
That would be Asheville. I’d come there, you know…plus there’s that Vanderbilt estate near there.
asheville is about two hours away from the tn side.
Me vote Asheville. Biltmore Estate, however, is overpriced and touristy just to see how filthy rich people live.
Now the Grove Park Inn and Resort…
Two votes for Asheville… 🙂
I’m willing to consider coming to the MID-ATLANTIC meetup that y’all plan. Just give me the details.
Oh, and give me my flight schedules too. 😉
uh, I think you’re missing the “mid” part of “mid south” — as in further west — “MID”west.
Midsouth would give us midwesterners plus southerners. And since Blueneck is a party animal … we need southerners 🙂
Kidspeak and I are up for a trip. How about Memphis? KS says Nashville means we all go the Grand Ole Opry. I take it that means two votes for Memphis. (Although Ashville is very nice, if a bit East.)
I’m picturing you saying “Trip? Trip?” like one of Andi’s dogs — with pants between the words. 🙂
You got sumthin agin the grand ol opry?
It’s grand, but it ain’t Memphis Blues.
(And yes, I am like Andi’s dogs. I’m ready for walkies.)
to fly into, as its a wee town. Memphis or Nashville are easier to get cheap fares to.
I was only thinking about the driving thing…my bad.
We’d drive if it were summer, but we don’t have time during the school year.
Doesn’t want to cross the mountains and go west …
Honey, we’re the future! Come on over.
you’re about to suggest Effingham?
Effingham is OUR special place 😉
Now I really gotta go.
about Effingham. Think the second weekend in Nov. is the Roadkill Cook-off.
it’s better than Matoon.
just got all the dogs to take notice. No doubt the Gof4 are taken with the idea too.
I’m always ready for a fun trip.
Are you ready for the next game?
I’m leaving in about 10 minutes for a meeting and probably won’t be home until about 9:00. So I’ll miss a lot of it. But I’m sure we’ll get updates at the meeting 🙂
One time I went to the symphony during the playoffs and the conductor gave us updates.
Oh that is excellent … and sooooo funny … LOL!
OK, I not only had to delurk, I had to logon, given that picture.
Poor Nurse Froggie should at least be offering real bourbon instead of that Tennessee imitation.
We could go to Kentucky — the home of Bourbon?
Makers Mark is made in Loretto Kentucky. Practically right outside the gates of the convent of the Sisters of Loretto. Quite a fun order of nuns 🙂
I toured one of the bourbon distilleries once — the smell alone can get your drunk.
Unfortunately, unlike breweries distilleries can’t give you free samples. Damn revenooooers.
I gotta go. See ya!
Frankly, this discussion is making my bottle of Maker’s Mark start rustling and whispering “come and get me”. . .and I have to finish writing this test tonight.
There is a decent state resort at Land Between the Lakes. But again, small town = high plane fares for those who have to fly.
she’s having her eye surgery tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware so we can root for her speedy recovery
Aw geeze Manny, make an ol gal tear up, will ya? Thanks much. I’m ready to roll and plan to be back online by tomorrow night to let you all know if the surgeon survived with an intact jugular. 🙂
I hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow, scribe.
Best of luck Scribe! I’m sure it will be just fine and you will be really happy that you worked so hard to find a way to do it.
we’ll keep an “eye” on things for you… 😉
to my co-birthdayer. My m-i-l had this done awhile back and I hope it goes as well for you as it did for her.
When I had my surgery done the doctor sent me a bouquet of flowers (it was all outpatient surgery). He also had his picture taken with me, for what reason I don’t know. I think it’s something he did to impress little old ladies, the bulk of his business.
So he sends me flowers, he sends me his picture . . . hmmmmmmmmm.
I got another couple of great stories out of that excursion. My favorite involves a black eye. They had to give me an anaesthetic to keep my eye from moving around (obviously) and when the anaesthesiologist put the needle in he hit a vein, giving me a big ol’ shiner. So I told people I got slapped by a nurse.
that reminds me of a few weeks ago — one of the women at church took a tumble at home; no major damage except for a skinned up chin.
So the next Sunday she shows up at church with a bandage on the chin…and a sign around her neck that said, “He DID NOT hit me!” — referring to her husband.
I guess I didn’t mention her sense of humor…
you’ll be in full-form before you know it. Will be happy to throw a huge online party for your return. paz
Good evening folks…just woke up from a less-than-restful nap. How goes it?
Evening Psi. A good nap is one of my favorite things.
I just got cable internet yesterday after having been on dial-up for aeons. Wow. I am so happy! I can now watch all those cool youtube videos people post. :>)
Yeah, the blogosphere sure has a YouTube fetish. 😛 Personally, I’d check out some of the Borat videos. It’s hilarious (and a little sad) at the same time.
I’ve never seen Borat, so I’ll have to do that. Thanks for the tip!
Congrats on the end of midterms!
make sure to frequently check Crooks & Liars this evening — Keith Olbermann had another “special comment” on the death of habeus corpus, and it was a doozy. He compared the Military Commissions Act to John Adams and the Alien & Sedition Act, Woodrow Wilson and the Anti-Espionage Act, and FDR and Executive Order 9077.
What strikes me most about his comments is that he is always respectful, using the word “sir” to address GWB…yet in his intonation, you can tell how he really feels about the current resident of the Oval Office.
He has said before that he does not vote, because he is concerned it would affect his impartiality by “having a dog in the race”…but I wonder if the recent actions of this Administration and the rubber-stamp Congress have caused him to reconsider that stand.
Watch it if you can…maybe someone can switch the bar TV for the late-night repeat…
Oh Crooks and Liars! I forgot about that site. They always had stuff I wanted to see, but couldn’t. Yippee! :>)
everybody has broadband but meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
You need satellite internet. That was earthlink’s suggestion for us here in Detroit, before we got our one and only one DSL provider. (There is cable, but we aren’t going there under any circumstances!). Of course, satellite services cost about as much as keeping a very nice horse!
it’s expensive (gotta buy the equipment, pay for the install, have trees cut down), costs a lot a month, is way slower than cable or dsl, has latency problems, and is unreliable when it rains hard. And nobody I know that has had it was happy with it. Other than that, it’s a great idea. 😉
you’re still up?
it’s Jim’s “fall break” and I don’t feel like watching him sleep so I’m taking tomorrow and Friday off and can stay up just like the big kids do.
You’re still here …
The Cardinals just lost <sigh>
I was watching. I’m sorry — but at least you can feel vindicated.
until they lose tomorrow. I’d rather be wrong 🙁
On the other hand if someone had bet me the last week of the season that we’d take the Mets to the seventh game of the NLCS — I’d be much poorer.
Oops, I thought this was the deciding game. Must mean it’s time to go to bed if I can’t count to 7.
Night.
BTW, if you see this in the morning, I posted my shoe blogging diary over at ET. Complete with a picture of me.
Nice Joseph Seibels, btw.
You have so accurately described some of its “finest” virtues! Needless to say, we didn’t bite on satellite, either.
