but the dogs weren’t.
Morning (I hope whoever reads this is reading it much later).
beautiful photo! that yours Andi?
a little tricky for the eye… but the ducks working their way across the pond helped bring it all into perspective
Thanks.
Are you having one of your sleepless nights or did you wake up way, way too early?
Haven’t even attempted sleep yet, just carrying the nightowlitis to it’s ultimate extreme, ha;)
Otherwise I’d never run into you early riser early go-to-bedders.
Good morning, Andi and NDD.
Agree, beautiful photo.
and which side of the Atlantic are you on these days?
curly and I are in the peaceful Berkeshires. Youngest asklet is with is. I’m enjoying quiet time before they both wake up.
Thanks. I’ll admit that I like looking at it — it seems very calming (I thinks it the placid cruising of the ducks).
Did anyone else experience server problems?
Unable to get on to BT for the last 30 minutes, or so.
How’s the fall color up in the Berkshires? I was north of Boston a week ago and the color was looking very nice there.
What remains looks great, but we’re a week too late.
Strong winds the last couple of days blew away a lot.
And the scenery is beautiful anyway.
Young asklet had quite an adventure yesterday. He was out exploring just behind the building. There is a small stream running by. He was walking across an old, wooden walk bridge – and fell trough. The planks were rotten.
Fortunate that the stream was only just over knee-deep and that I was also out back. Got to him in less than 30 sec and out of the water. Wet jacket and shirt off and wrapped him in my jacket – then a very stiff run back up to the house and a warm shower.
That must have been really scary. I’m glad that’s all it was.
What a lovely, serene picture, Andi! Wish it looked like that here.
Morning, Ask, NDD. A, that is frightening about the a-let’s fall, glad things turned out ok.
Since that was taken about 2 weeks ago, it doesn’t look like that here, either. 🙂
Sorry about the game (unless I’m talking to MaryB).
Oh, I grew up in Missouri, mostly. I was a die-hard Cardinals fan from about age 3.
But then, Detroit could use the boost of winning the Series, more than St.L, I think. So I really don’t care that much who wins.
I don’t care who wins either — ever (since it’s never going to be the cubs).
Morning Andi, NDD, ask, Kidspeak. Andi, you continue to outdo yourself in the photo department – beautiful!
Hope you aren’t going to have to spend too much time out campaigning in this weather. When I got up, the rain was almost horizontal, though the wind does seem to have died down somewhat.
I may go out to put up a few signs, but mostly I think this will be a good day to do it via e-mail. Yesterday was very productive, although tiring. I had the honor of going door to door with Birch Bayh for Baron Hill. I’m working on a short diary now.
Cool photo, Andi. It tricked my sleepy eyes for a few seconds – I thought the water at the top was mist and couldn’t figure things out. Didn’t even see the ducks til someone mentioned them.
There is mist on the water so that obscures things and the ducks are very small and it’s still early so being tricked seems reasonable.
Cold, gray, windy but still with ducks!
Th colours in the background look wonderful!
The way the wind is blowing, they won’t be there for long.
You going anywhere today?
nothing fancy … it’s cold and grey here today … no snow though, so I’m not complaining.
How ’bout you? Did you finish that book you were reading yesterday?
I don’t think it’s ever snowed in October here — at least not in my lifetime.
Yup, I finished it. It’s a very good biography, though I’m not sure if it would be that interesting to be poeple who haven’t read her.
for your reading pleasure?
Current library selection is Transformation by Catherine Chidgey, Prisoner of Memory by Denise Hamilton, Thin Place by Kathryn Davis, and Mappa Mundi by Justina Robson.
sounds interesting, but the cover is a little off putting … 😉
Transformation would have to be considered a horror story.
Is that all? I’m reading The Year of Magical Thinking at the dog park, Interpreter of Maladies in the upstairs bathroom and The Probable Future in the downstairs bathroom. In the rest of the house I”m just cleaning up dog pee.
I can only read one book at a time. (And you’re braver than me — I can’t bring myself to read Year of Magical Thinking, even though I like Joan Didion’s writing a lot.)
Yeah, it’s always funny when you start mixing up the characters and plot lines in the different books.
Have you read Wild Life by Molly Gloss? I picked it up at Goodwill yesterday and read about 20 pages and it’s mesmerizing.
I loved it. If you haven’t read Jump-Off Creek, it’s really good too.
Tempted fate I guess … it’s ice raining right now … ugh!
for a moody picture of the garden
I was just out there w/ my camera … still a couple of roses valiantly blooming … so trying to capture one w/ ice on it … 🙂
Wow! What a lovely photo-I feel like I’m on the shore by a campfire looking out at it.
More like sleepless Sunday for me although I probably totalled up nearly 6 hours minus the waking up repeatedly. And more than I’ve had the last three days-seem to be OK with it during the day. Still walking, biking, socializing and doing chores.
Friday night/Saturday morning stayed up real late visiting a radio guy from the neighborhood at the studio. He plays all sorts of wacky music and has interviews with amazing people like this photographer who hung out with the Black Panthers in CA in the ’60’s then fell into some sort of hellish life situation so that her photos are being displayed now for the first time.
That’s what happens to us old women, I think. I call 6 hours a very good night’s sleep.
The interview sounds interesting.
Exquisite photo, AndiF! We are so lucky to have you!
(-: {{{AndiF}}} 🙂
Hey there. How’s the arm treating you?
See below.
Can’t believe I hit the cafe when there are actually some peeps still in it!
Good to have you stop by and thanks for the hugs but you should use abbreviations like {A} to save your strength for typing other stuff.
That’s actually harder to type! LOL!
I have not been feeling well for weeks — headaches, nausea, fevers, GI upset, canker sores, aching spine, etc. — and it suddenly occurred to me last Wednesday to find out if these could all be side effects from taking Motrin, and guess what. So I haven’t taken any since Tuesday and am finally starting to feel human again, except that the CTS symptoms have gotten a bit worse, alas!
I’m glad you found that out but I hope you can find something else to help with the CTS.
You’ve slept long enough. WAKE UP!
I just followed you here from the open thread. How do you like having a stalker?
How exciting! I feel like a celebrity.
What did you do today?
Nothing too damn exciting, that’s for sure! Is there a game tonight – and where is it?
Detroit. 7:05. Wonder what the weather’s like!
Michigan tribbers — where are you? What’s the weather?
Cleveland is 46 and cloudy so Detroit is probably the same. Seems like great weather for a midwestern game!
I just looked and it says it’s 36 degrees and the wind chill makes it feel 29. brrrrrrr. And maybe there’s light rain? Can’t tell.
I hope it’s as good a game as last night 🙂
I’m just glad it’s two smaller market teams – though I’m sure the network isn’t.
When is game four that you’re going to?
Wednesday night. I didn’t get to any world series games last time. So I’m pretty excited.
I’m not sure who’s really in those Red uniforms on the field — because I sure didn’t see them most of the season. But whoever they are, I’ve enjoyed watching them in the playoffs.
You’ll have to watch the game that night and look for me — I’ll be the one in red 😉
I’ll be looking! I remember that you had diminished expectations right up through the playoffs. Maybe that’s the secret to not being disappointed.
LOL! Diminished? I had NO expectations. For the first time ever I just wasn’t a believer.
Switching topics — have you seen that new TV show Heroes? Someone today was raving about it and telling me I HAD to see it. I need other opinions.
I watched about 5 minutes one time and a cheerleader went into a raging fire and picked up a grown man and carried him over her shoulder. Seemed hokey but others have told me that it’s good. It must be on the same time as something else that I watch.
And I’m stalking you…so now you’re a celebrity too.
Mmm, dinner smells good. Especially since I’m not the one cooking it. 😉
Is one of the boys cooking or do you have a mystery guest?
It’s the mystery guest (with help from CBtY), who definitely does NOT suck at cooking. 🙂
Someone’s making you dinner … you lucky girl 🙂
How was your weekend? Here it was clear and cloud free during the days (although windy) and cloudy and rainy at night (including right now it looks like).
It was nice today, but a little overcast. Went for a 5.6 mile hike with the dogs, and now I’m waiting for (butter chicken, mmm) to be done and watch the Cardinals beat the Tigers up some more!
How was your weekend?
(I meant, what did you do this weekend, not how was your weather…)
It was good. I canvassed both days for McCaskill. Went shopping and bought some new work clothes. Got some stuff done in the yard. Tried a new restaurant on Friday. Watched the game last night with some people and kept track of the political ads.
It was a FAST weekend. I’m sorry it’s almost over.
Sounds like it flew by. Mine too. And I still have yard stuff to do, along with a coupple of little work things (which I’ll do while the game is on to get ahead for this week).
BTW, I’m going to the NY Chihuly installation this coming Friday. I am so excited!
Chihuly! I can’t wait to hear about it.
I gotta go, people with the pizza and beer are arriving.
