The company I work for is about a block from Cameron Ballons. Often times we can just look out our window and see them inflating / testing their latest balloon, it’s great.
And lots of fun to ride! One downside is that cows seem to be really spooked by them and its hard to get permission to land on some farmer’s place after you’ve run the whole herd from one end of his place to the other at top speed.
The Olivers used to have a two day medieval fair that we enjoyed going to, with jousting, mock sword fights, renaissance arts demonstrations and dancing, all oiled with a liberal dose of the winery’s products. They finally stopped having them due to a fear of product liability on the highway as people left after a day or two of partying.
to watch them is great, by far..but to ride in one is even the most of a thrill one could ever imagine. I have and will never forget the excitement. Great shots of balloons and cats too. Love them all….hugs from tn….
Isn’t it fun? I was lucky to have a friend with one back in the 70’s and we could earn rides by driving the chase vehicle. We went all the way to 10,000 feet once. The view was spectacular, but the April air was mighty chilly up that high;-)
Mrs. Dem and I are off before dawn to watch a hot-air balloon race. These two are not impressed.

A hot air balloon event is one of the few things that will entice me from a warm bed before daylight.

We have a balloon race every year and I love to go watch them inflate all the balloons. This is a great shot.
Thanks maryb. The only part I don’t care for is the early hour. Oh well, there are always make-up naps later.
They’re finally off the ground and into the air; their destination unknown.

Destination unknown? Oz!!!!!
Thanks for these wonderful photos. IMHO you get the “feel good” award for your diaries.
Some days, Oz seems like it might be a better place to hang out (once the wicked witch is dealt with, of course).
A bit of hare and hounds for the aeronauts and the chase vehicles too.

They claim to have accomplished great things in our absence and must rest now. One has also managed to move from bed to sofa.

The neighbor kittens prefer our deck. This has nothing to do with our old cats or balloons. I just threw them in for extra cuteness.

They are too cute! I have had two cats named Emma over the years, just because of the prominent M on their foreheads – just like that guy.
I had not noticed the M. Is that a common marking? There were five of the little stinkers all together.
Great shots of the balloons. I hope oliver winery provided something to warm you up.
