Hi SN. I’m always ready to leave everything behind and party.
How’re you and the family today?
We’re good. I’m nervous about the election but optimistic.
Optimosism (sp) is the only thing to have. No matter how it turns out, keep the optimosism.
Lowered expectations – that’s my secret to not being disappointed. :/
Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
That’s the way I uaually am, but I’m always optomistic things will get better.
We’ve got some very heavy rain going on right now. Very little thunder and lighting thought.
We’re supposed to get some rain tomorrow. Hopefully it will keep all the Republicans home.
Or just wash away to bad voters. 🙂
Sounds like a plan. Can I leave this boring-ass project on contraception I’ve been working on outside too?
That depends on what your working on. ED? PE? Anything involving male genitalia?
Oh, I guess I should read all of the words before I reply. Contraception sounds pretty exciting, though.

Actually a couple women my age and I were telling the youn’uns at a retreat this spring what a wonderful thing the Change can be-they were dumbfounded since they never hear that anywhere else.
I’m hiding out in the shop at work-so much rain there may be floods. Should be interesting riding the bike home tonight!
I certainly didn’t mind my menopause — the lack of sleep was a fair trade-off for throwing away my last few tampons.
Oh, when it’s done I’ll be relieved. It’s the roller coaster, fine one minute and roasting and sweating the next, screaming my lungs out, headachey and crying sort of days that drive me crazy.

Is there a giant banana pepper? otherwise the stuffing would be pretty minimal.

Yeah but they take a bunch of your money and make you wait in long lines and take off your shoes and then they make you sit and wait some more in crappy chairs and lots of time they make you sit and wait in the little steel thing for even more time and make up stories about air traffic holds. And then driving across Ohio starts to sound not so bad.
(also if we drove we could stop by Dayton and see if anybody there wanted to come along)

Oh, and I want to thank all the helpful Christian bigots with web sites who singled out all the judicial nominees who are likely to approve same-sex marriage. I was having a hard time getting info on a few of them.
and the really nice thing is that, unlike some of us, you’ll have a paper trail.
Even when I was still in the US I signed up for absentee voting. That way I always had the option of mailing it in or dropping it off anytime up to and including election day.
I know it differs from state to state, but if you have the option of absentee voting you might consider taking it from now on.
I have the advantage of living in a pretty poor county and we can’t afford the latest whizbang stuff — so we’re still voting with paper ballots and optical scanners.
Our county has lots of money, but still optical scanners.
In Detroit, the previous City Clerk had many bad habits. One was not bothering to count all the absentee ballots. They’d be found in people’s cars and houses well after the election results were made official. She kept being re-elected until someone named Winfrey ran against her. (Name recognition, or should I say, mistaking names for familiar ones, is legendary in Detroit politics. We don’t have a 40% adult illiteracy rate for nothing.)
I better shut up and order a drink or I’ll kill the contraception/menopause/pepper stuffing party.
It seems to have gone flaccid all on its own.
I’m not going to touch that one.

Jim! Good to hear from you. Get this. Tomorrow we have all day, Professional Development at our schools. My effing idiot principal, hereafter known as the FIP, has scheduled our non-certified building substitute to run the Math portion. This sub is the same woman who asked me for help because she couldn’t pass the Math portion of the Basic Teacher Certification Test. (Think a few Algebra I questions, max.) The staff is appalled. What an amazing display of disrespect toward a staff of experienced teachers most of whom have Masters and several have extensive training in Math education. I haven’t decided how to deal with this yet. I tried to file an official complaint, but the FIP is never in the building.
Enough. The non-teachers might not get it, but we get so little respect from society at large, the last thing I need is a FIP that shows us and our professionalism even less.
There must be some NCLB requirement that Prof. Dev. happen this week. Wh have our all day soul searching on diversity on Wednesday. I will be the 3rd year in a row that our “white bread and mayonnaise” school system spreads it on thick and then ignores it the rest of the year. Thank TFSM for my iPod. I will plug its noodlely appendages into my ears whenever possible.
I have some amusing games on my Palm. I am trying to decide if I should be confrontational or just ignore the whole ridiculous farce. It depends if I cool off by morning.
My vote is for being above the fray. However if you are called down while playing minefield, then you simply ask a question you know the FIP’s proxy can not answer.
I know you are correct, but such idiocy cries out for skewering. I’m going to Civilization and vent my spleen but unleashing the Persians on some peaceful Bronze Age agrarian society.

I’ve waited because I get a kick out of our 50 year old pull-the-lever mechanical voting machines. They are now technically out of compliance with federal law but I’ve been having the boran2 boy pull the levers. He loves it.
