Actually a couple women my age and I were telling the youn’uns at a retreat this spring what a wonderful thing the Change can be-they were dumbfounded since they never hear that anywhere else.
I’m hiding out in the shop at work-so much rain there may be floods. Should be interesting riding the bike home tonight!
Oh, when it’s done I’ll be relieved. It’s the roller coaster, fine one minute and roasting and sweating the next, screaming my lungs out, headachey and crying sort of days that drive me crazy.
There are these things? Made of steel? And they have wings and big engines and seats inside? And I’ve heard they can fly from Indy to Cleveburg in less time than it takes you to drive to the airport.
Yeah but they take a bunch of your money and make you wait in long lines and take off your shoes and then they make you sit and wait some more in crappy chairs and lots of time they make you sit and wait in the little steel thing for even more time and make up stories about air traffic holds. And then driving across Ohio starts to sound not so bad.
(also if we drove we could stop by Dayton and see if anybody there wanted to come along)
By FAX. Mostly Dems, and Green candidates where the Dems were shoe-ins. Gotta keep the Dems on their toes.
Oh, and I want to thank all the helpful Christian bigots with web sites who singled out all the judicial nominees who are likely to approve same-sex marriage. I was having a hard time getting info on a few of them.
Even when I was still in the US I signed up for absentee voting. That way I always had the option of mailing it in or dropping it off anytime up to and including election day.
I know it differs from state to state, but if you have the option of absentee voting you might consider taking it from now on.
I have the advantage of living in a pretty poor county and we can’t afford the latest whizbang stuff — so we’re still voting with paper ballots and optical scanners.
In Detroit, the previous City Clerk had many bad habits. One was not bothering to count all the absentee ballots. They’d be found in people’s cars and houses well after the election results were made official. She kept being re-elected until someone named Winfrey ran against her. (Name recognition, or should I say, mistaking names for familiar ones, is legendary in Detroit politics. We don’t have a 40% adult illiteracy rate for nothing.)
Time for a break…headin’ out the door to indulge in a few frosty paralyzers at the corner bar
Was out buying office supplies, implements of disruption, earlier today and picked up some pens…nifty little hand writing analysis promo was on the packaging…check it out…..kinda clever
Jim! Good to hear from you. Get this. Tomorrow we have all day, Professional Development at our schools. My effing idiot principal, hereafter known as the FIP, has scheduled our non-certified building substitute to run the Math portion. This sub is the same woman who asked me for help because she couldn’t pass the Math portion of the Basic Teacher Certification Test. (Think a few Algebra I questions, max.) The staff is appalled. What an amazing display of disrespect toward a staff of experienced teachers most of whom have Masters and several have extensive training in Math education. I haven’t decided how to deal with this yet. I tried to file an official complaint, but the FIP is never in the building.
Enough. The non-teachers might not get it, but we get so little respect from society at large, the last thing I need is a FIP that shows us and our professionalism even less.
There must be some NCLB requirement that Prof. Dev. happen this week. Wh have our all day soul searching on diversity on Wednesday. I will be the 3rd year in a row that our “white bread and mayonnaise” school system spreads it on thick and then ignores it the rest of the year. Thank TFSM for my iPod. I will plug its noodlely appendages into my ears whenever possible.
I have some amusing games on my Palm. I am trying to decide if I should be confrontational or just ignore the whole ridiculous farce. It depends if I cool off by morning.
My vote is for being above the fray. However if you are called down while playing minefield, then you simply ask a question you know the FIP’s proxy can not answer.
I know you are correct, but such idiocy cries out for skewering. I’m going to Civilization and vent my spleen but unleashing the Persians on some peaceful Bronze Age agrarian society.
since that the place seems to have been mostly deserted, you can go around to each table and empty all the glasses into one and make yourself a hairy buffalo.
I’m waiting for a phone call to come in and then I’m off to phone bank. I’ll be doing GOTV tomorrow afternoon. I’ll be at the victory party tomorrow night. 🙂
This is the homepage of the guy who made the flash animation of “Cows with Guns.” Click on the filmstrip icon in the upper right-hand corner, and then scroll down through his portfolio to get to “Cows with Guns.”
I may need a horse tranquilizer. My nerves are officially shot. I was supposed to go see Borat as soon as I got off work and instead spent the evening calling people to get to the polls tomorrow. Perhaps I should catch the late showing. hrrrmmmmmmm
so that part is done for me. I’m planning on going to one of the various poll parties being hosted in the city. I’m wavering between the Dem party (which is decidedly liberal in this part of the state) or the Drinking Liberally crew’s shin-dig. Jitters abound!
I’ve waited because I get a kick out of our 50 year old pull-the-lever mechanical voting machines. They are now technically out of compliance with federal law but I’ve been having the boran2 boy pull the levers. He loves it.
pre-election jitters outside.
Hi SN. I’m always ready to leave everything behind and party.
How’re you and the family today?
We’re good. I’m nervous about the election but optimistic.
Optimosism (sp) is the only thing to have. No matter how it turns out, keep the optimosism.
Lowered expectations – that’s my secret to not being disappointed. :/
Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
That’s the way I uaually am, but I’m always optomistic things will get better.
We’ve got some very heavy rain going on right now. Very little thunder and lighting thought.
We’re supposed to get some rain tomorrow. Hopefully it will keep all the Republicans home.
Or just wash away to bad voters. 🙂
Sounds like a plan. Can I leave this boring-ass project on contraception I’ve been working on outside too?
That depends on what your working on. ED? PE? Anything involving male genitalia?
Oh, I guess I should read all of the words before I reply. Contraception sounds pretty exciting, though.
if contraception is exciting, menopause must be a thrill-a-minute.
Yippee! Blech.
I certainly didn’t mind my menopause — the lack of sleep was a fair trade-off for throwing away my last few tampons.
Oh, when it’s done I’ll be relieved. It’s the roller coaster, fine one minute and roasting and sweating the next, screaming my lungs out, headachey and crying sort of days that drive me crazy.
appropos of something — or nothing — I’ve just been stuffing peppers.
It depends on what kind of peppers.
so what kind of peppers would be apropos?
Banana peppers?
Is there a giant banana pepper? otherwise the stuffing would be pretty minimal.
Well, the purpose for which it is intended is always fun. Good election stress reliever too, I’ll bet. 🙂
Tell Nature Boy numero uno that he’s a wonderful artist.
Thanks, keres. I’ve always loved his work.
Do you have the big image loaded so you can link to it and everybody can see how really incredible the eyes are?
Hm, let me see.
Normally I don’t like to brag about my kids, but you made me. 😉
It’s important to note that this painting is 9×6 FEET!
Now we need verybody back in here so they can see it.
Has he got his show scheduled yet?
They’ve got a financial backer and a venue, but I don’t think it’s scheduled yet.
I think there should be a BooTrib meet up when all of the details are worked out.
Cool. I wonder if I could get people to leave their woods and travel to the big city on the lake?
Glad to hear it’s moving forward.
And Jim’s got a good idea, though I’m not keen on that diagonal drive across Ohio.
There are these things? Made of steel? And they have wings and big engines and seats inside? And I’ve heard they can fly from Indy to Cleveburg in less time than it takes you to drive to the airport.
You mean the Wright brothers really made the damn things work?
Imagine moving faster than a mule. It boggles the mind. 🙂
I cannot, hard as I try, imagine you moving faster than a mule.
I’ve moved fast before. Just not lately. 🙂
Yeah but they take a bunch of your money and make you wait in long lines and take off your shoes and then they make you sit and wait some more in crappy chairs and lots of time they make you sit and wait in the little steel thing for even more time and make up stories about air traffic holds. (also if we drove we could stop by Dayton and see if anybody there wanted to come along)
How has you’re day been? Hopfully better than it started. 🙂
It’s good to be home. 🙂
How are you doing? Are you ready for tomorrow?
It’s always good to get home from work. 🙂
I’m doing fine and yep for tomorrow.
Great idea. I’m trying to hook up with (ok, not “hook up” the way you think)someone on my trip home in early December.
that’s disappointing.
Hey, we could always drive vertically through IN and horizontally through OH.
On second thought we could just fly.
Wow!
Didja find me a fleur?
Let me know whatcha think … I can find change or find something else.
I love it! I didn’t mean for you to go to all that work but I’m glad you did. 🙂
Do you want me to upload it?
if that’s not a prob w/ you … and it wasn’t a lot of work … 15 mins max. 🙂
a photoshop whiz kid.
mostly out of necessity at first … but now, it’s kinda fun.
I’ve got to run for awhile. (yes I know walk 🙂 )
Back inwhile.
By FAX. Mostly Dems, and Green candidates where the Dems were shoe-ins. Gotta keep the Dems on their toes.
Oh, and I want to thank all the helpful Christian bigots with web sites who singled out all the judicial nominees who are likely to approve same-sex marriage. I was having a hard time getting info on a few of them.
and the really nice thing is that, unlike some of us, you’ll have a paper trail.
Even when I was still in the US I signed up for absentee voting. That way I always had the option of mailing it in or dropping it off anytime up to and including election day.
I know it differs from state to state, but if you have the option of absentee voting you might consider taking it from now on.

Our county has lots of money, but still optical scanners.

I better shut up and order a drink or I’ll kill the contraception/menopause/pepper stuffing party.
It seems to have gone flaccid all on its own.
I’m not going to touch that one.
Damn, I guess I just did.
And with enough touching, it won’t be flaccid after all.
(ugh, that was weak)
I’ve gotten several emails I’ll forward to you that will fix that right up.
Kudos to NB the Elder

Later
Toni, Jim? Anyone? If so, de-lurk. I’ve got a new low in Principal incompetence to share.
A new low in administrator incompetence?
There’s a redundancy in there somewhere.
Now what were you saying?
Jim! Good to hear from you. Get this. Tomorrow we have all day, Professional Development at our schools. I didn’t get a chance to say earlier, but you vision of a slacking movement was wonderful.
Thanks. You are an inspirational leader. Not quite Che’. More like Che-lounge.
Having a name known by all. My work is half done. 🙂
It looks like FM didn’t finish his 27 of everything so can I have the rest of his order?
since that the place seems to have been mostly deserted, you can go around to each table and empty all the glasses into one and make yourself a hairy buffalo.
ummmm on the other hand I think I’ll just skip the drink.
How was your Monday?
Busy.
Are you going to do any last minute stuff for McCaskill?
I’m waiting for a phone call to come in and then I’m off to phone bank. I’ll be doing GOTV tomorrow afternoon. I’ll be at the victory party tomorrow night. 🙂
I saw a reporter following some McCaskill canvassers and was looking for you. 🙂
(that’s yiddish to ward off the evil eye)
I’m outta here until a bit after 9:00.
Look who’s coming to my neck of the woods:
Dana Lyons
I’ve never heard of her but I love the song.
She is a he and here’s an MP3…
not the whole song but a good taste of it…
Did you enjoy your frosty paralyzers?
Hi yO! I did indeed…:{)
A man of his word … 😉
he has a nice delivery — sort of a mellifluous u. utah phillips.
Dana’s webpage. Apparently there is a flash animation of “Cows with Guns” but I couldn’t get it to play with my dial-up connection.
This is the homepage of the guy who made the flash animation of “Cows with Guns.” Click on the filmstrip icon in the upper right-hand corner, and then scroll down through his portfolio to get to “Cows with Guns.”
Of course, I’m still waiting for it to load.
maybe it’ll load for you Keres….
Cows w/ Guns
I finally got it to load from shagrat.net. It was definately worth the wait.
I’ve always loved the mariachi horns on the refrain.
Ribbett!
Hi MM. How’re ya doing?
What a neat croarook!
Check!
I need the Family Man Special! Twenty-seven sounds like a good starting point
Hello Manny. 27 is always a good number to start with. 🙂
I may need a horse tranquilizer. My nerves are officially shot. I was supposed to go see Borat as soon as I got off work and instead spent the evening calling people to get to the polls tomorrow. Perhaps I should catch the late showing. hrrrmmmmmmm
How r ya, FM?
I’m doings fine.
You need to go out and have a good time and relax. The big thing is to relax though.
See it after you vote tomorrow to take your mind off things.
so that part is done for me. I’m planning on going to one of the various poll parties being hosted in the city. I’m wavering between the Dem party (which is decidedly liberal in this part of the state) or the Drinking Liberally crew’s shin-dig. Jitters abound!
Go to a party where the booze flows freely, or sit and meditate quietly with Bud. I think I would pick the first. 🙂
I’ve waited because I get a kick out of our 50 year old pull-the-lever mechanical voting machines. They are now technically out of compliance with federal law but I’ve been having the boran2 boy pull the levers. He loves it.
You do know that boran was the inspiration for borat, don’t you?
Take care of yourself, Manny.
you too, b2. I’m gonna do some busy work around the apt and decide if I’m going to the theatre. Buenas noches a todos!
I would have thught everybody knows that.
No, only the well informed amongst us know.
People still awake and in the cafe at 9:45? What’s the occasion?
We’re still up waiting for you to show.
I’m here!
Does that mean everyone’s going to leave now?
Did I hear you’re off tomorrow?
Hi Mary. I guess since you’re here, I can turn geezerly now.
🙁
Doooooooon’t leeeeeeeeeeeave.
How could I leave now? 🙂
I’m still here. 😉
I’ll meet you at the new place
:::crickets:::
Yep,I’m off. We wouldn’t want to overwork the hard-workiing civil servants.
and the patronage workers all have to go work for their patrons 🙂
new lounge open when you guys are ready.
Hah. Even I’m here tonight.
