Is anyone else watching the train wreck that is American foreign policy and feeling nauseous? I’m just sick to my stomach.

Certain individuals, entrusted with an absolutely enormous amount of power, have chosen to use it in this way. They are criminal to an almost unfathomable degree. Just can’t see how we’ll regain our national equilibrium any time soon — especially as the disaster is yet to play out completely.
We’re quite a sick country indeed. Nausea would seem to be an appropriate reaction.
I get the feeling all the principals in this train wreck are now scattered all over the Middle East, looking for a reason to pull out of Iraq but not because they think they should.
on the other hand, it could be setting the stage for an attack on Iran – coming as it does right after
I re-read that Nawaf Obaid Wapo piece. It’s getting a lot of space in Israel – see the Saudis are really worried about Iran.
Clearly the Saudis have not only voiced concerns but there’s an implied threat to ‘boost oil production, cut the price of oil to cripple Iranian funding.’ (Interesting how quickly they can lower the price of oil, hmmmm). But those are some serious words maybe intended to warn Iraqis to simmer down.
So the question for me is, if this Obaid piece is not just jaw-boning, would the Saudis intervene in Iraq to blunt a Shia uprising during an US-Israeli attack on Iran? That would spell Armageddon. Holy mackerel.
Neo-cons and war-hawks in Israel should sleep well tonight.
It’s sad, but what else could you expect when the engineer is an idiot, the conductor an illusionist, and the driving force for the steam is GREED
GET OFF THE TRACKS ~@^@~
I do have a wonderful gut feeling that the train ride is soon to be over….if we can keep us on track 🙂
peace
IP…great to see you. Hope all is well!
all is well, and glad to hear from you as well lady….peace friend
Hey, IP. likewise so very good to see you too.
But I have a really bad feeling about all of this. The Hadley memo, the al-Sadar faction withdraw. Bush is trying to pass the blame, and it is going to blow back in the face of the whole country.
I have been saying this shittin statement for over 6 years now..I just don’t see how things could get any worse, but they seem to. I understand it is cause of the ppl doing the directing of this catastrophe, but geez Louise, when will they ever learn. I want them all to just drop off the end of the earth and let the rest of us do the directing from now on. I really think poppy can not get jr.’s butt out of this bad thing, no matter how hard he tries. They have even the Saudis pissed now. Before long we will have to not drive to work but walk..so plan on getting up at an ungodly hour so you can be to work on time, or else better yet lets all get some horses..that is what they have done to us. placed us all back in the horse and buggy days with their evil doings. This is not progress, this is ruining the whole concept that we can go forward. But if you look at the caliber of ppl running this circus, I am not surprised.
Horse and buggy days would definetily be progress to me :o) Though I sure would miss the sound of a good old American V8 engine!
Well, Hon, you will ahve to come down my way to do the caretaking of the horse. I do not do well with things like this. However, I do like horses, I just can not take care of them well. I also love to sleep till it is time to get up and shower to go to work and drive only 10 mins to get there…:o) Hugs…BTW, how have you been? I have not been around but to read much lately. I have missed conversation here.
Hi Brenda :o)
I’ve been fine, thank you. I noticed you weren’t around for a while there. Always a pleasure to read your comments.
About the horse though, I don’t know the first thing about them. For instance, where do the spark plugs go? :o)
:)…I wished I knew too…maybe we ought to ask Laura bush, she knows more about those things than even her husband…
I’ve been terrified all day to see things unfold. Nothing good can come of this.
is purported to have been leaked deliberately.
The Fallout:
Financial Times, UK reports the 3-way summit was called off with The Independent, UK stating tonight, for tomorrow’s edition, that Al-Maliki was a no show for dinner with Bush and King Abdullah.
Can’t blame Al-Maliki for the Iraq mess he inherited. He has nothing in his tool kit.
Perhaps Al-Maliki is wondering what purpose does this summit with Bush serves if al-Hakim one of his main Shias rival has been invited by the White House to Washington next week.
and somehow “I told you so” doesn’t quite seem to make it better. When I first saw the memo I couldn’t help but snicker over the irony, however with everything that has gone on in the last 12 hours or so the shit is hitting the fan. What concerns me most is what speed the fan is on.
And to think that Junior’s minders set up these overseas gigs to make the bloody fool “look presidential” and help him get his mojo back…oy vey, Bartlett and Snow have made Junior look even more shrunken and irrelevant with their utterly lame full-monty spinning on the cancelled meeting/dinner. This black farce, this dumbshow can only be seen as a benchmark of spiralling incompetence, unprecedented in the modern era of US diplomacy and orchestrated “big events”. So what are they going to do with the strippers booked for an all-nighter, anyway?
There’s a part of me that sees the possibility that, after the election, leaders from all over the world seem more free to speak their minds and follow their own interests, even when it flies in the face of Bush/Cheney. There is someone that feels positive or hopeful if that is what’s happening. But it also feels scary at the same time.
My jaw has dropped so far to the floor today that I may never get it up again.
l. Maliki snubs Bush.
Runs screaming from room, dragging jaw with her.
I didn’t even mention Tom Friedman’s batshit loopy column!
Glad to see you. I was missing you when I saw Katiebird’s BooDay.
Thanks. I’ve been lurking.
katiebird had a Booday? Geez, I really am out of things.
Scarborough and crew are crying about how terrible it is that Maliki sttod up Bush for the dinner. Buchanan is the only one calling it as it is. Maliki was intentionally insulted by the leaked memos and returned the favor to Bush. Legit in other words. But they’re talking about a “Battle for Baghdad” beginning soon with Marines against the Mehdi army. and Sadr attempting a coup against Maliki. Shit hitting the fan is a major understatement.
