I am glad you two are feeling better. My left arm is sore today from getting a flu shot yesterday. LOL The doctor at work said since I had one type I should get the shot since my body was weak from being sick. I do hate needles.
I usually don’t have that big a problem with takig the flu shot. I can’t ever remember my arm hurting or coming down with flu-like symptoms afterwards.
get my flu shot Sunday afternoon — they had one early flu shot clinic which I could have gone to but I missed it. I technically now qualify for the “high risk” group due to my Big D diagnosis.
The medical foundation was supposed to have several in November, but there was a delay in getting the vaccine — looks like the ones for this weekend and next week are on track, but since I’m leaving for Vegas on Monday, Sunday is the only day I can do it…
I need to go get ready for work since the drive might take longer this am. The temps have dropped like crazy and there might be ice on some of the bridges so wish me luck.
I can’t believe I’m just getting up and already FM is down for the count.
Today is my son’s 19th birthday and, horrible mother that I am, I totally forgot that he wasn’t coming home from college this weekend (or that I wouldn’t be here if he did) and I didn’t mail him a card either. So the guilts got me and I told him I’d drive down and take him to breakfast/lunch before classes today…almost a 2 hour drive, and treat him to a tank of gas. Woo hoo.
Our flight is at around 2:00 pm. Hopefully the plane isn’t coming from Kansas City or somewhere that it’s supposed to be bad. I was reading about FEET of snow in the midwest, skipping Cleveland mostly.
Morning everyone. It’s a bittersweet morning. We had a great live-blog with Elizabeth Dole yesterday, then were treated to Larry Kissell’s concession. Sigh.
But, the concession morphed into his announcement that he is running again in 08, so we have something to be pumped up about already.
Hey, is it your photo blog they are talking about? What is the name of the blog, sorry if it is written above, I’m working through comments chronologically.
It’s been interesting around here! I moved out of my house, moved in with my 90-year-old mom, and am currently helping her cope with a badly broken ankle. I’m doing stuff like cooking again, for the two of us, and actually enjoying it. Talk about unexpected blessings. 🙂
You so deserve to win that honor, Olivia. I checked out your competition and while they’re very nice, they’re not Olivia.
I think the last time we talked you were just in the process of moving in to your new suite. It’s good to hear that you are settled in now, not good to hear about your mom’s ankle though. Yikes!
It’s grey and gloomy –tho warm right now– here, but seeing you has brightened my day considerably. Oh, and thanks for the love kansas … 🙂
Yes Ms. Kansas, When one checks out the competition, which is very good, it makes it a pleasure to vote for Olivia. That`s the reason I`ve been pushing for votes for her, by suggesting people look at the other candidates. It`s also a little bit of a mind expander, looking at other people`s interests & their take on photography.
I saw that comment in last night’s cafe. And I agree — check out the competition. Long before I even had a camera I was visiting the blog A Daily Dose of Imagery … so to have made the top 5 w/ him is an absolute honour of the highest order. 🙂
Are you and the plant life surviving that weather?
“A daily dose of Imagery” is a very nice blog actually, in my opinion. One reason I like it, is it reminds me of many places I remember of my times in TO. It`s a completely different style than yours, but not my favorite style.
One of the things I like about his blog is the educational part of photography that he/she shares. A lot of my stuff is more in line with what you do, hence my votes. The winds have died down, thankfully, but I did lose a few cactus limbs that are bent over halfway up. I`m going to cut them off & plant them elsewhere. The only thing you`d notice is there would seem to be more cactus areas & not less cactus, so it`s a good way of propagating my cactus gardens. I treat them like my corals.
Btw; the little girl from India`s blog is interesting if you read about her life so far.
One of those broke, but as you realized it only means more flowers.
Btw; all my cactus flower, some just more spectacularily than others.
Most of my cactus started as only one rescued limb I found on the ground or that friends gave me knowing it would have a good chance in my hands, so I just run with nature as much as possible. There will be plenty of beauties next year, not to worry. I`ll plant one just for you & I`ll keep you apprised of it`s progress. How`s that?
I don’t think so, Chris. Because where are all those empty SUV’s with the doors hanging open and the keys left in them? Plus, I just checked Cameron’s website. No GBCW message.
Hi Kansas, what’s this about the weather there? Just got up and haven’t heard…poor Dena, she does hate the cold.
Nice to read you here, it’s been a while, although I do see the random comments from time to time.
Dena told me what a great day you had on Thanksgiving and how much her friend liked you and didn’t want you to leave.
Hugs…
Hi, Diane. Her friend was completely charming. It was such a pleasure to spend that time with them. Even the waiter had fun serving D. her very first Thanksgiving dinner. I told her she would have had many invitations to private homes if she weren’t scared of dogs and cats and other critters. That’s why we met at a restaurant.
Lol, #1 mom, maybe but you are a close second and I don’t mind a bit, takes more than one mom to mother Dena, I think and I am so grateful you were willing to step into the role..
Yeah her animal aversion will be an obstacle for her in future. Did you know they tried to use a dog sniffer on her when she was leaving Baghdad airport for US…..thank heavens for her, a kindly officer just had the dog sniff her bags…what a start for her on her journey.
BTW I think you helped her friend a great deal, who is suffering from PTSS from Iraq service. I was thinking we need to bottle some of you and make it available for others in need.
And it’s a fine morning here – sunny with only a few wispy clouds on the horizon.
You scared me a bit with your lead in, “what part of his anatomy we’re discussing.” Because I’d never get that personal.
Australians mark the changing of the seasons on the first day of the months containing the solstices and equinoxes. So, today is officially the first day of Summer down here.
Since the weather for most of the past year has been all mixed up, my prediction for this summer is more of the same, just slightly warmer. I had to put more water in the pond yesterday, and will probably continue do so every few weeks for the next six months. When we don’t get enough rain water to fill our tanks, we have to have water delivered at $90/3000gal. So it looks to be a spendy dry spell. Speaking of which, I have to buy feed for the alpacas today. Like most people, our pastures have stopped growing and we’re having to buy hay – which is expensive this year because of the drought. At least we’re better off then the farmers who are having to sell their emaceated sheep two for a dollar (literally).
of just what anatomy of Jim’s he wouldn’t mind me discussing.
That’s bad about the water. I wish I could get some to you. The ground here was already saturated and so today’s downpour is pooling on the ground and turning every to mush.
Late as usual! I’m home sick from work, fighting off a cold and feeling glum about a number of things. We were on call last night because freezing rain was forecast but nothing happened-just regular precip.
snot in general is basically friendly — since this is how spent white blood cells take out bodily infection.
It’s just that it doesn’t always feel friendly — it’s biological ‘tough-love’, iow.
Speaking of, I’m afraid this is another dive-bombing on my part — must vacate my seat anon & head into the blessedly cloudy outdoors. Hope to return soon, sufficiently moistened (in a totally friendly way).
Rather have lots of snow … Freezing rain is so dangerous and unfortunately we get a lot of it here in Ottawa, which is why I dread the start of winter weather here.
Got to get moving here…but it’s too damn chilly. Then again, if I get showered and dressed I’d be warmer…ah, dilemmas abound. We’re finally going to get the heaters vacuumed out so we can fire them up tonight — it’s time.
Other than that, not much else — trying to get some work done, need to go do a few errands in preparation for my trip next week…
I hope you DO only get snow. Right now it’s those little ice pellets that I never know what to call. But they’ve covered all the roads. Sleet? But it’s not the big ice that covered trees and brings down branches (and power lines). Yet.
It’s been raining all day and sleeting but the pavement was too warm to allow it to accumulate until this afternoon.
Actually I loathe them. I used to skip them all the time. I can’t skip this one though. It’s a combination holiday / 30th anniversary party for the firm. The managing partner is “encouraging” all of us to attend.
Morning Miss Andi!!!!
Good morning Andi and Refinish.
Howdy FamilyMan!!!
How are you feeling today, RF.
Feeling pretty good. I hope you & FMom are feeling better.
Glad to hear you’re feeling better.
FMom and I are getting there, but it’s just slow.
I am always sore after but very seldom get any other symptoms.
I guess everyone is effected differently by it.
And part of it might just be mental. LOL
Well I wasn’t going tosay that. 🙂
Yeah, but I heard your thoughts through the computer. LOL
get my flu shot Sunday afternoon — they had one early flu shot clinic which I could have gone to but I missed it. I technically now qualify for the “high risk” group due to my Big D diagnosis.
The medical foundation was supposed to have several in November, but there was a delay in getting the vaccine — looks like the ones for this weekend and next week are on track, but since I’m leaving for Vegas on Monday, Sunday is the only day I can do it…
Now the great chain of being is complete.
Have you both voted for O today?
Of course. I did that even before I came here.
Morning Miss Andi!!! I just voted!!!!
???
Olivia’s blog has been nominated for best Canadian Art/Photo Blog. If you click on the maple leaf icon above, you can go vote for her.
I need to go get ready for work since the drive might take longer this am. The temps have dropped like crazy and there might be ice on some of the bridges so wish me luck.
Good luck RF and stay safe.
Thanks!!!!
The forecast sounds really bad.
I’m starting to nod while sitting in my chair. Nap time!!
Back in a little while.
I can’t believe I’m just getting up and already FM is down for the count.
Today is my son’s 19th birthday and, horrible mother that I am, I totally forgot that he wasn’t coming home from college this weekend (or that I wouldn’t be here if he did) and I didn’t mail him a card either. oops…good thing you can still do breakfast. 🙂
How long are you going away for?
Assuming we actually get off the ground (due to big weather)from Friday through Tuesday.
My forecast is for thunderstorms tomorrow, possibly snow (yikes!) on Monday. I guess you’re getting the thunderstorm thing too?
No, but I’m concerned about Cleveland, and delays from everywhere else holding us up. I hate hanging around airports!
But thanks to Effexor, if our plane crashes I’ll at least be relaxed as I hit the ground.
Airports are the worst. Do you have an early flight?
Our flight is at around 2:00 pm. Hopefully the plane isn’t coming from Kansas City or somewhere that it’s supposed to be bad. I was reading about FEET of snow in the midwest, skipping Cleveland mostly.
Gotta go – bye everyone! 🙂
Have fun with the birthday boy!

But, the concession morphed into his announcement that he is running again in 08, so we have something to be pumped up about already.
I don’t think we’ve been virtually introduced…:)
Hey, is it your photo blog they are talking about? What is the name of the blog, sorry if it is written above, I’m working through comments chronologically.
Howdy. It’s Parvum Opus, link in the comment above yours.
I am that olivia. And as boran2 pointed out, my blog is my sig line link:
Hi, guys. Reporting in from crunchy Kansas City here. Gonna get deeper before it gets better. I hope all the cafe denizens are well and happy.
Hi … 🙂
O!!!! I’m going to go vote for you. . .and then find out what you’re running for. 🙂
It’s been so long, and we’ve wondered how you were doing … and I heard about your weather on the news this morning — crunchy indeed. Be safe!
🙂

I was going to say I hope not, but then that means you’ll have more of them when the transplants grow. 🙂
One of those broke, but as you realized it only means more flowers.

I love those flowers … they’re amazing. Thanks! 🙂
Hey, Kansas! Good to hear form you. I was afraid you’d been raptured.
Hey, Chris! When the rapture comes, I’m not goin’ unless pandas can go, too.
When I think of the rapture I cannot get out of my mind the image of all those bare bottoms ascending. It’s disturbing.
Perhaps we’ve already been left behind. Has anybody seen Kirk Cameron lately?
I don’t think so, Chris. Because where are all those empty SUV’s with the doors hanging open and the keys left in them? Plus, I just checked Cameron’s website. No GBCW message.
Hey there K, good to know you’re still in the state… thought maybe you’d moved and changed your handle 😉
Glad you’re doing well, make some snowballs, and dig in for a long winter. Can I brag that umm, it’s been over 50 in Toronto for the last week 🙂
… but don’t worry, global warming is faith based…
thought maybe you’d moved and changed your handle 😉
lol. Good to see you, too, spidey. Warmer in Toronto? That’s just wrong.
Tell me about it, the geese keeping flying in circles, and we’re still playing street hockey. Tragic I tell ya.
If this keeps up our snowshoe suppliers will be out of business.. and then what happens to the economy??
😉

You’re still her #1 American mom, you know.

How ya’ doing? Book coming along?
And in honor of this rare visit …
Andi!!
Ahh, it’s good to be back in the land of the Blue Dot.
The book, she is coming along nicely, thanks.
How are the furry kids? Oh, and Jim?
I need to be off to the land of work for awhile. But I will be back. That’s a threat and a promise.
better not use threatening behavior as a major plot point in your books. 😉
Stay toasty and dry.
(furry and non-furry are all fine)
I know I shouldn’t ask, but where does Jim fall on that divide?
it depends on what part of his anatomy we’re discussing — chest and face furry; head not so much.
And it’s a fine morning here – sunny with only a few wispy clouds on the horizon.
You scared me a bit with your lead in, “what part of his anatomy we’re discussing.” Because I’d never get that personal.

Good morning all!
Got called away. I need to go and vote again. We need a GOTV post here.
Late as usual! I’m home sick from work, fighting off a cold and feeling glum about a number of things. We were on call last night because freezing rain was forecast but nothing happened-just regular precip.
I tell ya, there’s something in the air in the cafe — it seems like everybody is getting sick.
It’s pouring here and the dogs are moping because they’re stuck inside but so long as the precip doesn’t come down as sleet or ice, I can take it.
Here’s hoping, Andi.
Frankly, I’ve got to opine that our community illnesses are largely due to the fact that both the weather & the nation are an absolute mess.
Well if we have to deal with being spiritually and politically sick, it would be a kindness to have the snottiness be only verbal.
Absolutely — especially since our snot is always friendly.
snot in general is basically friendly — since this is how spent white blood cells take out bodily infection.
Yo, folks. Some of us are eating lunch here.
someone who eats with kids everyday is really going to be grossed out by a little snot.
Let’s look at cute pink little hamster tongues!
Hi Andi. How’s your day progressing?
Got a lot of work done but didn’t get to take a walk because it’s been raining hard all day.
Are you getting caught up?
Just keep plugging away … 🙂
It’s been raining hard here too … but very warm. We’re getting ice pellents and ice rain though.
I’d rather have two feet of snow. I hope you don’t get much but be really careful if you do.
Rather have lots of snow … Freezing rain is so dangerous and unfortunately we get a lot of it here in Ottawa, which is why I dread the start of winter weather here.
The little guy is cute. If it didn’t beady eyes, I might even make it a pet.
I don’t eat with the little snots. That’s what union can do. We have lunch aides.
It’s snot to be good.
We closed our office early so people could get home before it gets really bad. But it still took me an hour to get home. Usually only 20 minutes.
We seem to be escaping your fate — it’s raining buckets here and it’s supposed to snow tomorrow (but just an inch accumulation) but no ice.
Are you getting sleet or ice or snow or all three?
I hope you DO only get snow. Right now it’s those little ice pellets that I never know what to call. But they’ve covered all the roads. Sleet? But it’s not the big ice that covered trees and brings down branches (and power lines). Yet.
It’s been raining all day and sleeting but the pavement was too warm to allow it to accumulate until this afternoon.
Sounds like sleet.
Got a good book to read? I like to curl up on the couch and read when we’re having stormy winter weather.
so the day’s not over yet.
But if we get a lot of snow tonight I might take the day off tomorrow. Our office is closing at 3:00 tomorrow anyway for a holiday party.
ah office parties — another reason I’m glad I work from home. Of course, you probably love ’em.
Actually I loathe them. I used to skip them all the time. I can’t skip this one though. It’s a combination holiday / 30th anniversary party for the firm. The managing partner is “encouraging” all of us to attend.
Of course if we get a foot of snow …
the 10 plagues if it kept me from going to a party.
A foot of snow is gorgeous if you don’t have to go anywhere.
Froggy Bottom Happy Hour here
