I was hoping you wouldn’t ask.
I’m in the last minute rush buying gifts Yeah, every year I promise to start earlier. My co-worker, she gets all shopping done by mid-Ocober. Gawd, how does she do it.
Wishing all Froggy Bottom regulars and guests, Happy Holidays. Keep safe.
I was remembering that I never feel done in some way, the last bit of my former poor self-esteem showing up. But I decided to spend xmas eve with my lover and friends instead of my sister and her family; I’ll see the folks the next day anyway. It may be time for me to actually get my own life.
Your Lover and friends are family also!!!! Enjoy the time with them and deal with blood relations when you have to. I wish you the happiest of holidays with no stress.
To my mind, the spirit of the season involves the recovery of our joy. Let your heart lead you to it; grasp & hold it as you find it. Celebrate with those who celebrate you!
Did one holiday set and one non-holiday — here’s the holiday set to start off:
I’ll Be Home for Christmas — Judy Collins
Coventry Carol — Charlie Byrd
Angel Tidings — Clare College Choir
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen — Scott Kritzer
Concerto Grosso in G Minor, Op. 6 “Fatto per La notte di Natale” (comp. Corelli) — Berliner Philharmoniker
How Great Our Joy — The Cambridge Singers
Sussex Carol — Canadian Brass
In The Bleak Midwinter — Schola Cantorum (my mom-in-law’s favorite carol)
Donkey Carol — George Shearing Quintet
The Christmas Song — Dave Brubeck
Now, the non-holiday:
Swing, Swing, Swing — John Williams
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (Original TV Theme) — DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
Nine Bagatelles: IX. Circus Galop (comp. Bolcom) — Jon Nakamatsu
Fantasia in G major, BWV 572 (comp. J.S. Bach) — Peter Hurford
She’s Not There — Santana
Any Second Now — Depeche Mode
9 to 5 — Dolly Parton
One of These Days — Pink Floyd
War — Edwin Starr
Yellow Submarine — The Beatles
Spouse never got out to shop today — so we’re going grocery shopping this evening, then I can wrap the family gifts tomorrow while he shops for me. Tomorrow night we’re going to see the Sharks hopefully win against Calgary…after Thursday’s debacle, I have my doubts.
Christmas Eve dinner will be a split pea and smoked turkey sausage soup…not exactly low carb (due to the peas), but sounds yummy. Having Christmas brunch with the in-laws, then will probably find a local restaurant for dinner unless I decide to get the chicken breasts out of the freezer in time to thaw…
As for Barbara, it seems that the heaven she’s promised me has to much do with arthritis medicine & Patrick Swayze. She’s just another wanton, shameless hussy, a shill! All talk, no action.
I’d rather look at dada’s antlers.
I was sort of watching the Babs – heaven thing during commercial breaks. Did Joel Osteen cause your blood to freeze right in your veins like it did mine? :0(
Frankly, SN, I’ve found the program offensive from the beginning, for various reasons — mainly its simple-mindedness.
In the meantime, the diva sits enthralled, looking for some comfort in her mourning. What she’s getting currently is a plug for Gardasil.
I think it’s a waste when people live their lives solely with the belief that there is a heaven where we’ll all be reunited, and neglect to live a full life this time around.
If there’s nothing more to my life than just this time and place that’s ok by me.
The Muslim guy on there was saying that in his version of heaven they’ll be reclining on silk couches and servants will bring them anything they want.
My daughter and I were talking about how ironic that was for the servants. I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that you’re in heaven. The bad news is that you’ll be a servant for eternity.
Is the drippy/stuffy condition normal, according to her physician? I’m afraid I don’t remember that part. Then again, I was continually high at the time & my memory’s a bit holey.
It should stop dripping/bleeding soon. Hopefully she’ll be able to breathe through her nose again before too long because with the heat on at night her mouth and throat dry up quick!
So far she has a 10K face and counting. That’s 10K out of pocket, mind you.
Wow. Thankfully, it should be well worth it once the transformation’s complete.
Would it help her to plug in a humidifier? Sounds pretty unpleasant for her right now. The heat might be drying out the air a bit, especially if it’s forced air heat or wood heat. Very rough on the nasal tissue in general.
Believe it or not, my rhinoplasty was gratis. I had no idea what the bill for this kind of thing would tend to be.
hi WW, hi Olivia. I was just over at Orange in a Canada thread and found out that Canadians wear toques when they have sex. And I found out what a toque is. And where it’s worn. Although why Canadians do this is not clear to me. Except that it’s so cold in Canada.
I saw what you did. Pictures of poutine? You are baaaaad.
No, I was supposed to go to a holiday party tonight at a friend of mine’s office but it sounded crowded and loud and I just didn’t feel like it. I had a long week. The week before Christmas is always one of the most stressful of the year. Clients always want to get things done by the end of the year (and they’re usually leaving town the week after Christmas). It wasn’t as bad as some years, but that’s not saying much.
I love musicals. I liked Chicago okay, but thought it was missing something, although I’m not sure what. It was fun, but no spark. I’m really looking forward to Dreamgirls.
I’m looking forward to Dreamgirls too. I never saw the stage show. It’s based on Diana Ross isn’t it?
I liked Chicago but not as much as the stage production. But I was fascinated in how it was adapted, since it never occurred to me that they could adapt it very well.
I think one of the best adaptations was Evita. I’m not a huge Madonna fan, but I really liked the film.
Everyone agrees it’s based on Diana Ross and The Supremes, although the people behind it say it’s not every chance they get. I think there are legal issues involved.
I’ll have to see Evita one of these days — I missed that one somehow.
I was never a big fan of Evita on the stage. I think it works much better as a movie.
Last night I went to the theater and saw The Musical of Musicals. Have you heard of it? They do the same plot five times, each time in the style of a different broadway musical. First Rogers and Hammerstein, then Sondheim, then Jerry Herman, then Andrew Lloyd Weber and finally Kander and Ebb.
The plot is the old “you must pay the rent/I can’t pay the rent/you must pay the rent” schtick.
So a toque in Canada is the woolen hat originally worn by the coureurs des bois — no wonder I’m attracted to them. I’m descended from coureurs des bois.
But all the others … I particularly liked the chef’s hat description.
Well, I’m getting to the point where I’m feeling optimistic that I might get done by Christmas. Two days ago I was in a panic. I’d already procrastinated and then our power went out for 3 days after that storm. It was quite a to-do, but we’re fine now.
Then there`s the way they do it, also. When both indulgents in the art of lovemaking position themselves in such a way, they can both enjoy the hockey game also.
Thank you. That makes my night as I did a speech today about “Family Remembered” dealing with World AIDS DAy and all the loved ones I have lost. At the end of the speech I was told it was great, the evaluater gave me a glowing evaluation and several members came up to hug me or thank me for sharing my story with them.
actually k-9 was on one show and did die but dr who rebuilt him (k-9 was with Sarah Jane who was also on the show — umm, I guess the right way to say that was that Sarah Jane was one the show and k-9 was with her).

Warm wishes to you for the very same, idredit. Enjoy!
Quite a nice selection, refinish!
Someday I, too, will be able to offer a Random10. All I’ve got at the moment is an ear-worm.
🙂
What is your ear worm tonight, dear WW?
It’s been Burl Ives’ Holly Jolly Christmas for days now. Can’t imagine why.
How’s your household tonight, luscious one?
Ooh, I missed you calling me luscious one while I was watching Trading Spouses. I’m so ashamed of myself.
We’re just chillin, hanging out. It’s rainy and I’ve been fighting off going to bed all day.
Thank you!!!!
I was remembering that I never feel done in some way, the last bit of my former poor self-esteem showing up. But I decided to spend xmas eve with my lover and friends instead of my sister and her family; I’ll see the folks the next day anyway. It may be time for me to actually get my own life.

Glory be! Barbara Walters says she’s about to take me closer to heaven than I’ve ever been.
is this your incredible news … 🙂
Incredible, isn’t it? I can’t wait!
How are you tonight, my exceptionally cute & magical pond-mate? (I saw your picture.)
… on how and what she’s doing to bring this about?
LOL … yes, knucklehead was quite discerning in his selection … and don’t ya just love the reindeer slippers … 🙂
Indeed, those slippers are impossibly charming.
As for Barbara, it seems that the heaven she’s promised me has to much do with arthritis medicine & Patrick Swayze. She’s just another wanton, shameless hussy, a shill! All talk, no action.
I’d rather look at dada’s antlers.
Or on his own … 🙂
Yes, I’d much rather admire dada’s antlers too … and then, there’s the ones on my slippers … 🙂
I’d much rather look at those.
🙂
I was sort of watching the Babs – heaven thing during commercial breaks. Did Joel Osteen cause your blood to freeze right in your veins like it did mine? :0(

If there’s nothing more to my life than just this time and place that’s ok by me.
Far as I can see (regarding the type of belief you’ve mentioned), if you neglect living fully on earth you won’t recognize heaven when you get there.
🙂
Thank goodness for the Dalai Lama on this program. He’s cheerful!
I suspect that the servants are all women …
So, pretty much the same as life.
Hmm — cross-reference a little Buddhist belief in Karma & it could be that it serves ’em right.
😉
And how’s your girl doing tonight?
She’s getting pissed off and frustrated about her drippy, stuffy nose and wearing the whole bandage getup.
But I told her that you had your nose done and now you’re absolutely breathtaking.
Hey, if it helps ..

Believe it or not, my rhinoplasty was gratis. I had no idea what the bill for this kind of thing would tend to be.
I put the humidifier in her room and it helps a little.
I wish someone would give me a browlift and lipo for free. :/
Not before I see you in the flesh as you are, SN!
I lucked out only because I knew an exceptionally wealthy man at the time. No longer of this world, I don’t think. Maybe he’s gone to heaven.
Glad to hear the humidifyer helps Ryan some. She might sleep a little closer to it, if she can.
Just a thought.
I’ll tell her. Thanks for thinking of her, WW! :0)
hi WW, hi Olivia. I was just over at Orange in a Canada thread and found out that Canadians wear toques when they have sex. And I found out what a toque is. And where it’s worn. Although why Canadians do this is not clear to me. Except that it’s so cold in Canada.
I was there too … and saw that big red toque.
Someone just posted that you really wanted to see a Cdn having sex in a toque and not just the toque … lol
And just for the record, I’ve never had sex w/ a Cdn while anyone was wearing a toque … 🙂
LOL I saw that. But I decided to stay silent about my desires.
Well Olivia, it sounds like you don’t know what you’re missing 🙂
Maybe that’s what Barbara Walters has in mind WW …
I’ll have to keep it in mind … to liven things up so to speak … 😉
What are you doing tonight? I would have thought you be oot and aboot.
I saw what you did. Pictures of poutine? You are baaaaad.
No, I was supposed to go to a holiday party tonight at a friend of mine’s office but it sounded crowded and loud and I just didn’t feel like it. I had a long week. It wasn’t as bad as some years, but that’s not saying much.
So I’m watching a DVD someone gave me this week.
but I got sucked in reading … I’m done now … 🙂
Yes, I imagine it must be a busy time. But of course, I’m all for the staying in and relaxing.
What’s the DVD?
I missed your Henderson comment the first time through.
It’s Chicago. Someone gave it to me for Christmas. I said I had seen in when it came out and I liked it.

I haven’t heard of that. I’ll have to keep an eye out — sometimes musicals make it to Seattle.
My daughter has been bugging me to watch Chicago but I have very little patience for watching a full length movie anymore.
maybe they’re in full goalie pads… 😉
Spouse and I are going to see the Sharks play Calgary tomorrow night…if they played like they did Thursday, it’s gonna be a rough game… 🙁
Seems like it’s been awhile since I’ve run into you in the cafe as well … good to see ya.
Hey, I know all about rough games — the Sens might not even make the play offs this year … 🙁 Good luck to your Sharks.
Happy Holidays to you and the spouse!
Oh … and it’s just the jofa pants and stockings … 😉
You found out what a toque is in Canada, an important distinction. They’re something different elsewhere. Don’t make me start hat blogging.
Oops, forgot the link. See how rattled I am?
well THAT was informative.
So a toque in Canada is the woolen hat originally worn by the coureurs des bois — no wonder I’m attracted to them. I’m descended from coureurs des bois.
But all the others … I particularly liked the chef’s hat description.
It’s good to see you Izzy … been awhile.
I know! Good to see you, too, Olivia! I miss you guys. I just don’t have a lot of online time right now.
Are you all ready for the holidays?
A few things left to do … 🙂
How about you?
Well, I’m getting to the point where I’m feeling optimistic that I might get done by Christmas. Two days ago I was in a panic. I’d already procrastinated and then our power went out for 3 days after that storm. It was quite a to-do, but we’re fine now.
losing power is not good at this time of year … good to hear you’ve got things under control … I’m expecting to have a full day tomorrow.
Hi Izzy and anyone else I missed!!!!
Hey rf! I hope you’re enjoying the holiday season!
oh please, educate me. pleeeeeze?
(hey, wasn’t that a reggae song?)
Holiday Memories and Wishes
Oh goody!
and believe it or not no poltics in the show at all. LOL
Then there`s the way they do it, also. When both indulgents in the art of lovemaking position themselves in such a way, they can both enjoy the hockey game also.
watching the hockey game AND wearing their toques? Those Canadians sure know how to make love 🙂
seems we’re revealing all our secrets tonight hmmmm 😉
Hi Miss Olivia!!!!
I’m listening to you right now … how cool is that! 😀
LOL I hope you enjoy the show. I am in a contemplative mood and wanted to share with my many loved ones and fans.
Refinish, I’m truly looking forward to the day when I’ll actually be able to access your podcasts.
Thank you. What a sweet thing to say.
oh … that’s what I’m supposed to say instead of bitching that I can’t listen to them?
Miss Andi, I can always burn them to a cd and mail it to you.
If you ever get around to it, dear, it’s just as easy to burn two.
😉
I would be happy to do it for either of you. You can email me the address to send them to and I will do it asap.
Gee! I’m actually quite honored by the offer, refinish. I’m shy of giving you something else to do, however.
😉
a cd burns while you are working on other projects.
OK! Let me suss out my near-term plans a bit better & I’ll drop you an email when I’m sure of my address.
You’re a dear for offering, refinish. Thanks!
No problem!!
I have gotten a few of them when I take my laptop to the library (all hail wifi).
LOL But you know the offer is out there.
I appreciate it but if I get them when I go to the library you can save your postage money and buy dog treats for the diva dogs instead.
Okay!!!
You’re very good at it … Love the music selections (I’m on the second one) … and hearing about your beads.
Thank you. That makes my night as I did a speech today about “Family Remembered” dealing with World AIDS DAy and all the loved ones I have lost. At the end of the speech I was told it was great, the evaluater gave me a glowing evaluation and several members came up to hug me or thank me for sharing my story with them.
Hearing your laugh … it’s wonderful 🙂 (you’ve just bought the tree …)
LOL If you could have seen the look of horror on my mom’s face.
That’s in the locker room right?
And did anyone remember that it’s global orgasm for peace day? Have you done your…part?
I do my part every chance I get even if by myself. LOL
and those of you who managed to do it while alone, give yourselves a hand … oops, looks like you already have 🙂
ROTFLMAO!!!! If I didn’t I hate to think what the stress level would be after 10 years of nothing.
Whoops — I blew it totally.
Ah well, screw it.
Sounds like you had more fun than I did. LOL
So far I have not added to the Earth’s positive energy field. I guess I better hurry.
slow is better …
up to a point…:)
Get them batteries charging. LOL but take it slow and long!!!!
Won’t my hubby wonder what all the buzzing is about? 😉
You can always share. LOL
As an exceedingly pure-minded monk, I’ll have you all know that I’m truly shocked by this voluptuous ribaldry.
Absolutely shocked!
How am I supposed to pay attention to Elizabeth Taylor’s near death experience if you insist on such nastiness?
I only aspire to voluptuous ribaldry!
& therefore, you’re indescribably luscious.
(Gotcha!)
The Heaven Show is over, thank God. Clearly, my year-old cat knows more about heaven than Barbara Walters does. What a piece of doody! Imho.
The end was sooooooo saaaaaaad.
don’t tell me — the doctor died (again) and there’s going to be a new doctor next season. How many lives is he on now?
Same doctor. Anyway he doesn’t ever die; he regenerates.
Is K-9 on the new Dr. Who?
<gasp> K-9′ battery didn’t die, did it?
actually k-9 was on one show and did die but dr who rebuilt him (k-9 was with Sarah Jane who was also on the show — umm, I guess the right way to say that was that Sarah Jane was one the show and k-9 was with her).
sarah jane — i forgot about her. It’s probably been 20 years since I’ve seen a dr. who episode.
Best companion ever — only ace ever came close.
the doctor has been on scifi and bbca — see what high quality programming you miss by not having cable
or whatever they call it that I ever saw was when Tom Baker changed into Peter Davison…that was weird, from this kind of dark, brooding character into a sunny sort of naive (at first) youngish blond…
Yeah but the blond was better looking. LOL
You think? I thought his face lacked character. But I was really partial to Tom Baker — although I wouldn’t call him attractive.
I liked Tom as the Doctor more but would have done the blond. LOL
as Tristan in All Creatures Great And Small (based on the Herriott books)…those were from the days when you could watch a whole show on PBS without it being interrupted by umpteen pledge breaks…
Was wondering where you were.
yup, I was adding to my cultural attainments.
I’m going to open the 24/7 since I think CG is still out.
Great minds…
oops — I thought you were still out. Sorry!
It’s okay, I deleted mine!
LOL I just went to delete mine but saw yours disappear first.
