The servers are back up and running and so was I this morning but the rest of the day is for relaxing. A walk around the lake, an easy dinner, light the luminarias at 6pm, open presents and chill. Then leftovers and naps tomorrow.
Morning!!! I was in complete withdrawal as usual . LOL I slept very little last night so I am sure I will be taking a nap later today. I fell asleep last night around 10 I guess as I was watching a movie and then woke up at midnight and went back to bed after 7 am.
It’s pathetic, isn’t it, that Bush’s popularity is at such a low ebb that he’s taking a page from Giuliani’s 9/11 playbook. I thought the thrust of Rudy’s message that day was utterly grotesque & I feel the same about Bush’s attempts to emulate his ‘masterful’ leadership.
Well, it has backfired like a bitch this time. The news agencies were basically calling him an idiot for making that comment at his last news conference of the year. One station was running the header ” Shopper in Chief”. LOL
My, how things have changed for Mr. 80%. The height of his popularity from 9/11 through ‘Mission Accomplished’ was one of the darkest periods of our national history, imo. A truly horrific time to live through.
May the nation’s ‘buyer’s remorse’ finally smother him altogether.
Thank you!!!! I do love pissing of the right every cahnce I get. Someday I have to take a picture of the back of my car and all the bumper stickers I have. LOL
Happy Holidays!!!! Congrats on the baby even if it didn’t start out as a good thing. Just think of that fabulous young liberal you will raise. My best wishes to you and your loved ones for a fabulous holiday season!!!!
Thanks and ditto all the best wishes! And yeah, that’s why I made the decision to have it….plus the already budding liberal that we have! Not enough of us out there it seems. 😉
well remember us liberals believe in the village helping with families. Of course distance might interfer some but you can still count on us for moral support at least. LOL
Thank you for that really! So far so good though I must say…Morning sickness isn’t too bad yet, as long as I don’t let my tummy get empty I seem to be ok. So far already seems a bit easier than the first pregnancy so I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed. 😉
this reminds me of the time I went to a mixed baby shower with my mom. As the ladies were telling the mother to be that labor wasn’t that bad and saying you forget it, my mother looks over and says ” Honey, They are lying to you. I love my two boys but I remember every damn contraction and they hurt like hell!!!”. I have never laughed so hard in my life or seen a room full of southern women at a total loss for words.
LOL and where I get my sense of humor also. She always says I am more out going than she is and that she is shy. LOL She is only shy for about 5 minutes.
Well, I think as a teenager and a young woman she might have been shy and bashful but it really wasn’t an option when she was raising two boys on her own starting in the late 50’s.
oh how I would have loved to be in that room! I love it when southern women are speechless! (being a southern woman myself you see!) Kudos to your mom for telling it like it is.
LOL She is known for saying what she thinks. Someday I will do a podcast or dairy telling all the famous stories of her show stopping moments through my life.
My mother is the same way. I am pretty sure that will never change either, and that’s ok with me…wouldn’t have her any other way! When I told her that I was pregnant she said and I quote…
“Well, I know you’re not happy about it, but I am so fuck it.” Gotta love her. 😉
ROTFLMAO!!!! Sounds like my mom except she never uses the f or c word. But she had a goo command of most other cuss words and can let out a spill of them when least expected if she is mad and it is funny as hell.
Hee Hee the c word is about the only one she refuses to use! Yeah the tangents that my mom can go on are quite hilarious as well! sure we aren’t related in some strange way? 😉
The podcast sounds like a terrific idea — a fine tribute. Maybe she’d even take part herself!
Speaking of, thanks again for the CD offer. It looks as if my relocation plans are tightening up a bit, ergo I should be at a different computer soon, with better access to your work. This also means that my mailing address is in a bit of flux! So let’s see what I can do on my end. I’m truly looking forward to basking in your voice & sensibilities on some lovely, wintry day in the near future, when there’s not much else to be done & I have a terrific excuse.
Okay.. I wish I could get her involved with it but she refuses to have a computer in her house. LOL She hated them when they first got them at work but finally learned it but when she retired at 70 she said “Hell No!” to my offer to get her a computer.
I didn’t do one this past year but I pl;an on starting to do secific shows that deal with certain topics ie: holidays, special days and the like to fill to give a certain feel to the show besides just politics. That sounds great! There’s nothing like good political theatre (as opposed to the third-tier monkey show of the past six years).

It hurts. Sometimes you don’t love the baby right away. Sometimes you wish you could go back to your old life.
That’s all natural. It’s all okay. Telling women otherwise makes them feel guilty as hell when everything isn’t perfect.
I can tell you that you’re more relaxed because you know what’s coming and what’s normal and not normal. But each pregnancy is different. Labor and delivery will probably be faster and easier too. 🙂
Yeah I have to admit that I am not nearly as stressed about this as I was for the first one. Alas, I fear I’ve missed my Christmas date with maryb
We pledged to carol yet again, just as we did last year
With tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
With tidings of comfort and joy
The sun is hot, the winds are wet, my holiday’s a bust
My brain’s become a pudding, so apology’s a must
I hope I haven’t missed my chance to share a Christmas tune
And tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
And tidings of comfort and joy!
I will now go stand in the corner, under the showerhead.
I hope that maryb will make a short appearance sometime today. Myself, I am finally wrapping presents locked away in the office so the dog doesn’t “help” me.
Sounds like a far cry from the wintry weather ‘they’ predicted for you earlier this week.
I’d definitely take 50, myself: a sweater, maybe a jacket & cap or a hoody if you float that way.
Hope you’re both having a fun Christmas Eve!
I’ve been doing a little yodeling myself today, regarding planned development for my mother’s block here on the sand-bar. Considering the beach area’s flimsy infrastructure, a little moderation to the continual development would be nice. Alas, Miami Beach has never been about moderation (nor, Gaia knows, environmental sustainability).
Ah, well. I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams.
I woake at midnight went to bed at 7:30 and slept till 9:30. I have a dinner party to attend tonight so I think I need to sleep some. Check you guys and gals later!!!!
Just a quick fly here to say Happy Holidays to ALL!!!! I just woke from a nice little nap with the Diva Dogs. In a few mintures I will take a shower and head out to a christmas eve dinner with a fabulous libreal I met through…. blogging!!!!! She is one of the main bloggers and front page posters at Texas Kaos and a dear sweet woman. I am stopping first to buy some gournet cheeses as an appetizer for the party as I did not feel up to cooking today because of no sleep. Since I found a out a child will be at the dinner I think I will get a toy truck are car and hope it is age appropriate. LOL
happy holiday of your choice, froggies!
we had a jolly solstice party last night and finally booted out the last guests around 2am. Not rowdy but lively, there’s alcohol left over so it wasn’t a wild time. i did break out the damiana love cordial that i made specifically for the occasion-damiana (an herb) soaked in brandy, laced with honey and vanilla and served w/fair trade organic chocolate syrup. the herb has a possibly undeserved reputation as an aphrodisiac because it’s calmative w/o putting you to sleep like chamomile. we did all pretty much agree that we loved each other so i guess it worked.
this was the last celtic holiday party that we’ll have with my pal and tenant living here full time but i realized that in his year here his friends have become mine and our own friendship will survive his transition to country living in some fashion.
i’m listening to the music of a band called zoney mash that my new sometimes lover and i saw the night we found we had some sort of bond also yet to be determined-it was saimhain eve just a bit more than 8 weeks ago at the end of my major meltdown period. i’m cooking food to take to his house for the dinner party he’s invited me to tonight-roasted root vegetables and fruit cobbler. the adventure continues…
Happy Holidays Soup!!!! I hope the holidays are as fantastic as your party last night sounds. I actuallt prefer the parties that don’t get too wild but are still fun. Damn I really am getting older. LOL
part deux (same as yesterday) — got the spouse’s gifts wrapped while he was gone, need to tackle the family gifts.
Woke up with a headache this morning, but my heart still feels good from my random act of kindness last night. (Thanks for your nice words, ReFi!) Headache is going away — spouse made the run to Starbucks for a couple of their delicious breakfast sandwiches and drinkables, and also went and got the mini-muffins to take to the in-laws for brunch tomorrow. He has to brave Borders today to find the last part of my gift (I put in a special request for the Helen Thomas book), so I’ll get a little quiet time at least.
Tonight we hope to make it to the late service at church — the choir’s got some special music planned including a string ensemble, always a treat. 🙂
Okay, time to get moving…have a great day, everyone…
Getting ready to have beantown ass tonight (Boston Butt with lots of hot spicy BBQ). My husband dug his old speedstick out of the trash and took it apart and hid $60.00 in cash inside of it for our daughter’s boyfriend. Then he weighted the base with pennies and stuck green tissue paper where the stick is supposed to be. Someone save me! He’s running around singing “You better not shout, you better not cry, you better not pout I’m telling you why. Santa Claus is the stalker in town.”
helicopter this year for 60.00. My husband has two RC helicopters and they run around $2,000 and they are so costly to maintain. They always need new rotorblades. But Airhogs figured out how to make one crash resilient for little guys at an affordable price because those old prices are for men prechildren! And after children they just collect dust because you are always doing something with the children. What’s cool and cooking at your abode? Any neato gifts waiting in the wings?
The older boy is getting a couple of Lee Oskar harmonicas and a Hohner blues harmonica. The younger guy is getting a stereo with an iPod dock for playing his music in his room. And my daughter asked for business type clothes. Sort of boring, but oh well!
I’ve got a half ham in the oven and scalloped potatoes and asparagus and yeast rolls. Then we open gifts and go for a walk. Tomorrow will be quiet and boring.
Jesus’ fresh out of the mold from Red China don’t get stolen tonight and put on CNN tomorrow. My husband is threatening to steal one, paint him a tad brown and return him in a turban because this stolen baby Jesus thing on national news is driving him nuts. He said to go ahead and call Bill O and tell him he’s comin to town!
Hello everyone, hopefully things are winding down nicely and we’re all getting ready for a holiday tomorrow.
As you can see from the weather map, we are getting rain and it looks like we’re going to get more. It won’t cool down enough for us to get a white Christmas, but hopefully Santa will be able to find his way through the rain to deliver presents tonight.
(Don’t be fooled by the blank area that looks like there’s no rain to the southeast of Seattle. The Olympic Mountains block the radar signal so it never looks like there’s rain there, but there usually is if it’s in the area.)
The servers are back up and running and so was I this morning but the rest of the day is for relaxing. A walk around the lake, an easy dinner, light the luminarias at 6pm, open presents and chill. Then leftovers and naps tomorrow.
How is everyone?
I’m grumpy.
Chinese spammers, server attacks, slow service, errgg..
so does that mean I get to be sleepy?
The 8th dwarf.
Morning!!! I was in complete withdrawal as usual . LOL I slept very little last night so I am sure I will be taking a nap later today. I fell asleep last night around 10 I guess as I was watching a movie and then woke up at midnight and went back to bed after 7 am.
Here are some of the designs I did last night while insomnia ruled my life. LOL
These are great, refinish. The last one’s my favorite!
Hope you can a sweet bit of rest today for your work day tomorrow.
Thanks. I also did some valentine’s day designs but am saving them for unveiling after new years at least. LOL
I’d say that’s a good idea.
🙂

well I do have one design that just says f__k Bush in red, white and blue. LOL
My heartfelt sentiments exactly.
Frankly, I’m incredibly tired of this particular performance & I can’t wait to see the dummy put back in the box.
I think instead of impeaching him we should force him to retire in Iraq.
I believe I’d settle for the Hague.
My, aren’t we full of good will today.
😉
well good will is hard to find for someone who has destroyed a several countries in 6 years not counting all the lives we will never get back.
Yes, it is. Brings to mind a particular Beatles lyric:
The love you take is equal to the love you make.
Boy, he’s gonna carry that weight a long time.
Is it sad that those made me laugh out loud? Those are just great! Love em!
Thank you!!!! I do love pissing of the right every cahnce I get. Someday I have to take a picture of the back of my car and all the bumper stickers I have. LOL
Just wanted to drop in and say Happy Hoidays to everybody here! I know it’s been a while since I have posted anything, but either way here I am!
Also wanted to annouce that….
<drumroll please>
That the hubby has proven himself virile yet again, I am 7 weeks pregnant today. Didn’t start out as a good thing but we are slowly adjusting. 😉
Been really missing you guys here. Happy Holidays everyone!
Happy Holidays!!!! Congrats on the baby even if it didn’t start out as a good thing. Just think of that fabulous young liberal you will raise. My best wishes to you and your loved ones for a fabulous holiday season!!!!

Happy holidays, Cake! Blessings on your discovery.
Thanks for the blessings! Sure could use em right about now lol!
Happy Hoildays!
No doubt! Fortunately, they’re always available.
May you begin this journey as smoothly & easily as possible!
Thank you for that really! So far so good though I must say…Morning sickness isn’t too bad yet, as long as I don’t let my tummy get empty I seem to be ok. So far already seems a bit easier than the first pregnancy so I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed. 😉
I’ve heard that the second pregnancy is sometimes easier than the first — but we’re all unique.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed, too.
this reminds me of the time I went to a mixed baby shower with my mom. As the ladies were telling the mother to be that labor wasn’t that bad and saying you forget it, my mother looks over and says ” Honey, They are lying to you. I see why you adore your mother!
LOL and where I get my sense of humor also. She always says I am more out going than she is and that she is shy. LOL She is only shy for about 5 minutes.
Bless her heart for teaching you so well.
🙂
Well, I think as a teenager and a young woman she might have been shy and bashful but it really wasn’t an option when she was raising two boys on her own starting in the late 50’s.
I’ve always wondered how she was when you came out. I’ll bet she already knew and was great about it.
LOL that is a story I will save for next october when I do my national coming out day show. It was a scream needless to say.
Oh great, now I have to wonder for 10 months.
suspense is good for ya. LOL
Good to see you today, Lusciousness. How is Christmas Eve at the Nature-house? How is Ryan?
I’m especially glad you’re here to offer your experience/thoughts on pregnancy. Refinish & I can’t quite do that.
🙂
oh how I would have loved to be in that room! I love it when southern women are speechless! (being a southern woman myself you see!) Kudos to your mom for telling it like it is.
LOL She is known for saying what she thinks. Someday I will do a podcast or dairy telling all the famous stories of her show stopping moments through my life.

Hee Hee the c word is about the only one she refuses to use! Yeah the tangents that my mom can go on are quite hilarious as well! sure we aren’t related in some strange way? 😉
we’re both southern and liberal… I say we are related. LOL
🙂
Okay.. I wish I could get her involved with it but she refuses to have a computer in her house. LOL She hated them when they first got them at work but finally learned it but when she retired at 70 she said “Hell No!” to my offer to get her a computer.
I see — you need the computer itself for the podcasts & it can’t be done via tape transfer, as I thought might be possible. Shows what I know.
Re: your annual coming out show, I feel I’ve really missed a lot! Let’s see if I can’t catch up by next spring ..
I didn’t do one this past year but I pl;an on starting to do secific shows that deal with certain topics ie: holidays, special days and the like to fill to give a certain feel to the show besides just politics. Of course for Presidents day I will do the speech I think Lincoln would give the Republican party and especially the Log Cabin Republicans. It will be a chance to start using some of my theatre skills again. LOL
That sounds great! There’s nothing like good political theatre (as opposed to the third-tier monkey show of the past six years).
I think it makes great sense to expand your offerings beyond the political. We’re not only political animals, after all — which is why I enjoy the FBC immensely at a primarily political site.
Yeppers
I could call her and record the conversation without telling her I guess but that is the only way she would do it and I don’t like to decieve my mom
I understand. Deception also denies someone’s full participation in what’s really happening.
That’s the biggest injustice done to women, imo – telling them that it doesn’t hurt, that you forget the pain, that loving the baby comes naturally and that you will always feel perfect love and patience with the baby.
It hurts. Sometimes you don’t love the baby right away. Sometimes you wish you could go back to your old life.
That’s all natural. It’s all okay. Telling women otherwise makes them feel guilty as hell when everything isn’t perfect.
Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! I don’t think it was ever said so perfectly! There’s really nothing I could add to this…
I keep hearing the same thing too…here’s hoping!
I can tell you that you’re more relaxed because you know what’s coming and what’s normal and not normal. But each pregnancy is different. Labor and delivery will probably be faster and easier too. 🙂
Yeah I have to admit that I am not nearly as stressed about this as I was for the first one. The only thing that’s really stressing me is that twins run in the family, and I already have a belly at 7 weeks…but i digress! My first doc’s appt isn’t until the day after christmas so I still have to wait to find out! 😉
triplets. LOL
LMAO! I think that I would have to be committed, seriously. But thankfully no record of triplets in the family. My great-grandmother was the last person to have twins, she had 4 consecutive sets but none survived. Out of 22 children that she had, 12 survived. But then again she did start at the age of 14…boy those were the good ole days huh?
LOL But your great grandmother was just doing what a lot fo southern women did back then
Well, that would be exciting! You do get a belly waaaay earlier the second time. And if you want I’ll take any spare babies you have. One of my neighbors (whom I’ve never met) has an “it’s a boy” balloon on their mailbox today and I wondered if they’d think I’m a psycho if I knocked on their door and said you don’t know me but can I smell your baby’s head?
Well that’s good to know! I was kind of hoping that would be the case…
And i am not alone! I still sniff my son’s head and he’s 3! There’s nothing like that smell…I would be honored if you knocked on my door to sniff my kid’s head! 😉
The Bill in Portland ME “Many blessings on your camels” greeting may be a bit inappropriate though… lol
but anyone who sees this must read <Sunday Griot: The Christmas Totem by Omir the Storyteller> and <Holiday Eve Thoughts by scribe>
I’ll be away for a few days, but wanted to send out best wishes to you. I’ve left a virtual card at my b here.
Congratulations Cake!
Be safe everyone!
I wish you the same, Miss O. Enjoy yourself enormously & have a brilliant holiday!

happy Holidays dear sweet olivia!!!!!!
Please permit me to indulge myself in a little early carolling!
God bless ye, merry froggy friends, around the FBC
Alas, I fear I’ve missed my Christmas date with maryb
We pledged to carol yet again, just as we did last year
With tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy

I hope I haven’t missed my chance to share a Christmas tune
And tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
And tidings of comfort and joy!
I will now go stand in the corner, under the showerhead.
That’s wonderful, Wench!
I hope that maryb will make a short appearance sometime today. Myself, I am finally wrapping presents locked away in the office so the dog doesn’t “help” me.
Merry Christmas Eve SN and WW. Sorry I missed the caroling. I’m singing some on my own though. Thank TFSM it’s winter and the windows are closed 🙂
Merry merry, maryb! It’s about 65 and sunny here and feels so unlike Christmases past.
Best wishes to you and the whole b family. 🙂
Thanks! And the same to the Nature family.
It’s only about 50 here — but still unseasonably warm. It’s hard to figure out what to wear.
Sounds like a far cry from the wintry weather ‘they’ predicted for you earlier this week.

He said to go ahead and call Bill O and tell him he’s comin to town!
Did you see footage of the guy in Ohio beating the crap out of one of those giant inflatable snowmen? It was a scream.
