What’s stranger, naked frogs or frogs in briefs?
So frogs bowling and smoking don’t strike you as odd?
Nah, I’ve been to 24 hour bowling alleys.
There a duck bowling alley up in Indy that does pretty good in the odd patrons category — frogs in briefs wouldn’t get a blink.

Just had brunch with curly, asklets and a friend of my daughter. Great company. Now at curly’s (sans kids) and getting ready for tonight.
That sounds like a pleasant day. We just had a 20 minute open-the-floodgates kind of rain and I was thinking how nice it would be if it been snow instead.

I think that rain is headed our way tomorrow.

Dinner is in the slow cooker, the house looks kind of clean, videos are rented, I’m slowly but surely (wait for it)…grading essays.
What’s going on at your house?
I’ve been out for a long walk, read, taken a shower, done laundry. Jim and I just made a salad to take to dinner tonight and I’m comtemplating taking a nap. Not too exciting but better than grading essays. 🙂
These are the end of the “This I believe” essays, which they turned in the last few days before vacation. They’ve been pretty nice so far – some tearjerkers.
I’m glad to hear they turned out well but still sorry you grading your way to 2007.
That drawing reminds of the Frog and Toad story where they went swimming and laughed at each other in their bathing suits.
I took one look at those crummy, slummy looking frogs and new I needed them for the cafe — a class act for a class place.

not too far from here they have the giant pickle which drops at midnight. A giant glowing pickle.
But right in Raleigh we have a bronze acorn – which I don’t think is as festive. Ah well.

We were awake, briefly, to welcome in the new year only because the neighbors made enough of a racket to start Luna barking.
It’s a quiet cool Summer’s morning here, with only birdsong to be heard thus far.

For some unexplained reason, we started a LOTR marathon – and only made it through one and a half episodes.
At a few minutes after 11pm, we decided to turn in and left our heros with the Balrog approaching (one of the better fight sequences, IMHO).
A bottle of champagne and a home-made mushroom garlic pizza rounded out our evening.
Sounds great to me.
That sign would have me thinking twice.

I guess I have to settle for crushed ice. Although when you throw it in the air and it hits your head it can be a little painful.
You’re from Alabama. A little crushed ice won’t hurt you when you’ve been shooting off your shotgun every other new year’s.

Yes, but what goes up must come down. I remember this from my years in NM, where every New Years some idiot would fire off their gun and be surprized when the bullet hit something, or someone, on its return to earth.
That’s the reason I stick crushed ice.
You could always pack the crushed ice in the shotgun fire it at trespassers (you’d have to be quick, though). Just think of it as very cold rock salt.

I think they drop it onto rye bread smeared with Miracle Whip for Family Man.

I can’t remember the last time I was awake at midnight on new years. Probably 5 years ago when we went bowling. Usually I just hear fireworks and roll over and say woo hoo to myself.
You live in the big city. There must be all sorts of things going on.
There’s a street party downtown but it’s supposed to rain. One of the boys is going to the hockey game (Hurricanes or some such team) and then downtown. I worry about drunk drivers.
Yep that’s what I worry about too. I always liked to go to places where I didn’t have to worry about driving or where I would sleep (pass out). 🙂

LOL Happy New Year’s To you also. Well one of my resolutions for the New Year’s is to clean up my language in the podcast. I can say the same things and show rightious indignation without cussing and I know it. LOL I actually labeled this show explicit becuase I really did get carried away in one section. LOL I almost clipped it but had already spent 3 hours recording a show slightly over an hour.
I don’t make resolutions because I know I’ll break them. I’ll have to give it a listen tonight.
LOL I usually don’t but I have been thinking about this for a while. I would like the show to be acceptable to all age groups and not just adult. LOL

LOL I got a bottle of Kendal Jackson reserve chardonay and also bought eggnog so I could make a white russian with eggnog, but I don’t drink when I am not eating. LOL

Well the nuts in the neighborhood have started with the fireworks and it is only 7:30. They scare Bette almost as much as thunder. Now you know one of the reasons I stay home on New Years. LOL
They’ve started firing them here too and George is trying to crawl under a blanket I have on the bed.
Poor Bette maybe, but I thinking of getting a firecracker from one of the kid and setting off in the room. Pay George back for all that yapping and whinning. 🙂
