I wanted to take time to say thank you. I felt that this was the right time to do it.
The support from this community has just been tremendous. From the earliest days you have been behind me and offered enthusiastic support throughout my campaign. I believe that this election was special, and one of the “special” it was the “coming of age” of the power of this new medium.
Forums across the web allowed Americans, despite busy lives and tight schedules, to remain an integral part of our civic fabric. We saw in the posts on this site and others like it the sort of discourse that was once conducted in town halls and parlors being molded to the realities of modern life. The web has allowed yet more expression of the ideals and principles so deeply held by Americans. Moreover, in this election, that expression was heard loud and clear by those outside of the blogosphere and the political landscape was altered because of it. I look forward to working with all of you as this community continues to grow and evolve.
Happy New Year as we go forward to effect change, so that we can ensure that the best of holidays are yet to come for the children of America.
I’ll be checking comments here and would love to hear your feedback.
Rep. Sestak, I am most thankful for having blogs like this, a forum that provides a connection to many dedicated Americans, such as you. While I live in MO, I followed your campaign and sent you one of my small donations to deserving Democratic candidates.
I will enjoy watching all the newly elected representatives on C-Span and know you and the rest of the freshman class will make a difference for all of us Americans.
I thank you for standing up for our country before your election as a naval officer and now as a congressman.
You’re welcome Joe. Make us proud.
Please stay on as a member of the community and keep us informed.
Too many of our Representatives take on a provincial ‘inside the beltway’ view of America. I hope you can avoid that fate.
Serve well, Joe. We don’t live in PA anymore, but we have many friends and family in the 7th. We’re delighted that you are their new Representative and wish you many good years in Congress. Keep your roots in mind.
Good luck to you. Other than that I have only one message for any Congress critter:
I know it is off the table for now since there will have to be a lot of groundwork layed, but IMPEACH. OR, at the very least, force these criminals to leave office in a very unceremonial fashion. Standing trial for treason would be a fitting end for many of these neocons.
